This is the HARDEST Dirt Bike Riding of my LIFE: Grizzbait, Day 2

  • Grizzbait 2023 was by far the most difficult dirt bike riding I've ever done in my life. I was constantly pushed and challenged on some of the most difficult hard enduro style trails I've ever experienced. Mile after mile of technical dirt bike riding on trails punished my body and mind...but the rewards were so amazing. Riding dirt bikes in Canada is an experience I'll never forget. The scenery and vistas we saw were absolutely breathtaking and so worth the very hard Honda crf250f riding I had to do to get there. I had my share of hard enduro fails along the way, but it was so rewarding to be able to keep up and hold my own alongside a fleet of Honda CRF250X dirt bikes and get through a very challenging day filled with rocky hill climbs, water crossings, and the most amazing views I've ever seen.

Okay, this is your very Best video EVER! I live in the BC area and we ride that stuff all the time. I guarantee you learned more riding skills on this ride than any other ride you have ever been on. I can see you were missing the low end torque of your DRZ and it’s ground clearance as well. I ride this stuff on my KLX400 ( basically it is a DRZ) and we always say “ When in doubt GAS it out!” And a good old injection of power often saves you. I just LOVED this video and would love to see you challenge yourself more like this. Totally appreciate how difficult that terrain is but you do learn to love it.

I've been physically training 4 times a week for the past year for BDRs and such. It's been a great help for my MABDR and NEBDR run in June. I'm in my 40s and somewhat physically fit and strong, and riding/training for hours on rocky OHV trails is already quite taxing to me (although, becoming quite enjoyable with time too), so I can imagine what you are going through at your fitness level. Your riding ability is definitely up there, and the fact that you can match it physically, even if you are suffering, is impressive. Kudos, man!

Ben, don’t be hard on yourself. Any off-road riding is an EXTREMELY challenging thing to do. It doesn’t matter how in shape you are. I know I am right there with you, but I love to “embrace the suck” as I learned in the Army.
I wish I could go on some of these types of events. I am stuck in Kansas though, and have not found many good places to ride… also I learned the hard way to not go on your own..
I also dont have friends with dual sport or adv bikes..
Keep up the excellent work Ben! I love to watch your progress and adventures!

Great sense of humor bud. FYI been riding all bikes for 50 years. I really don’t like down hill with big ass loose rocks haha. Sure looks like fun. I bought a RE himi bout a year ago. No fun wheelies and such but it’s been a hell of a lot of fun. I just have to remember it’s not my old xr400 or 350 or….. on and on. Years ago a bud had a xr200. He would wring it’s neck and go places you wouldn’t think possible. Back then I was on a MR250. Cool bike then upgraded to a 1979 CR 250 air cooled. That bike was a light switch. I would just ricochet off trees. No BS. Turn the handlebars and gas it. I’ve rode multiple dirt bikes street bikes and a couple gas gas trials bikes. I’ve racked up enough injuries from all that and work to shrink my testicles up some these days haha. Keep up the fun videos man I love em.

Hi Dork, It's another great video, and happy to see you are enjoying the CRF250F. I used to have a CRF230 so I have some experience with the platform. It appears you decided to pick one up, so take some time and get to know the power band. That bike is a tractor, and it makes its power down low. You may find it helps to upshift and run in lower RPMs.
    Keep up the good work!

Now your Dual Sport riding. There is a deference between dual sport and ADV riding. True Dual Sport and trail riding can be a humbling experience. DS and trail riding will make you a better rider everywhere. Nice job showing yourself struggle. Even though you don't have a lot of experience on this type of trails, you did well. I've been doing trials like this with my new 800DE. But they are much easier on my DR650 or KTM 250XC.

I had a similar experience on a trail recently. Imagine those same big loose rocks on a trail that's only about 8 to 10 inches wide with steep slopes on either side for about four or five miles. It just about killed me.
