The only group that ever came close to covering this song this perfectly and the artistic arrangement is dope. The held it down and loved this. I forgot about for years.
They also do a fantastic cover of the Stylistics "You Make Me Feel Brand New". Mick leaves everything on the floor, it's a masterful vocal, and he nails it live.

I’ve seen Simply Red many times and honestly one of the best Bands live they sound better live. They haven’t played here in years and when they do you both must go see them.

This was a classic and a big hit for Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes ft.Teddy Pendergrass. Why do people cover old school r&b hits and people always ask for the cover as though the original never existed.
Maybe because the cover was the first rendition they heard.We know that Teddy was a wonderful singer,but some people only know Mick.
I'm not sure why people take it as a personal affront, that people might like another version more than another. Who cares?

Not really, both are great, and different. He grew up loving Teddy Pendergrass, I think Teddy would be proud of this version. Its all good, except for when people can't carry tunes and use auto tune.
