Mick Hucknall is criminally under appreciated!!
Agreed🥁🥁🥁
I totally agree!!
For sure.
He didn't put out a lot of music.
Guess that depends on your definition of 'a lot'. The discography of Simply Red, a British soul band, consists of thirteen studio albums, six compilation albums, one extended play, and fifty-three singles. That doesn't even include Mick's solo records.@@timothychung4811
A live concert separates the true pure singers from the rest
How do some vocalists sound even better live?
Lordy.
This is sublime!
32 years later and he can still sound like this and does it live. He is an astonishing singer. As you say, Tom Jones and George Michael were top notch live.
He wrote this song when he was 17 yo, it's about his parents, Pater - dad, Mater - mom. His mom left when he was 3 years old and she never came back.
Tears
His live singing voice is top tier for sure!
What a voice! No one does this song better
This version... THIS version is just unbelievable.
The band as well.
He has a beautiful voice and it's unique!!! ❤
His voice is so piercing and smooth.
Absolutely stunning voice and a great performance.
Saw him live earlier this year, he hadn't lost any of his ability, fantastic singer !!
The voice is a gift from above.
I absolutely love the live performances of Simply Red. One of my favorites for 30 years
The man is just gifted. What a voice. So effortless.
I agree one of the great voices, and sounds incredible live. His version of you make me feel brand new, where he sings all of the vocal part is a master class in singing.
Absolutely love his version of that!
😱 WOW! I never would have thought the live version could even come CLOSE!! I was wrong!!
Wow! Perfect.
He wrote and sang this song at 17 years old. Look up the story behind the song. Studio version is awesome too.
Definitely one of the great voices, loved it for years.
There is another live performance many years later and he still sounds phenominal. 😊🥰
Oooh chills from Michael Hucknall's heavenly vocals
What a voice
Great choice and wonderful reaction Harri
🎵✌️🎶💜
Thank you, Miss Blondie!
@@pncombies you're very welcome 🎵✌️🎶
This is such a very beautiful song and there is no shortage of them with Simply Red. Thanks, Neal and Harri.
The pleasure was ours. You're welcome, Cynthia!
Mick has one of those voices that could be heard throughout a concert hall without a microphone...
His voice is mesmerizing and keeps you holding on. 🎼🎤🥁🎺
Originally from the 1985 album, "Picture Book", this was one of the greatest ballads of the 80's with Mick Hucknall's incredible powerful vocals. His emotional delivery was inspired by being deserted by his Mom at 3 years old and the upheaval was the inspiration.
Keyboardist and trumpeter Tim Kellett took inspiration from Miles Davis's "Kind of Blue" album for the incredible trumpet solo.
It was first recorded by Mick in 1982 with his Punk Band, The Frantic Elevators, but later he added the I'll Keep Holding On, chorus after the band split and Hucknall formed Simply Red.
Live this is even more heart penetrating with his vocals absolutely brilliant and the instrumentation superb. It does not get any better. Such a musical treat. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Neal. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada. 🇨🇦
The pleasure was ours, Mary -- you're welcome!
Yes! Incredible voice! Love him!❤
Sooo incredible! Love!
The Symphonica concert is absolutely stunning!! Even in his older years he still has the best voice! A true legend!! Great performer!! ❤👌🏼👏🏻👏🏻
Good to hear that is voice is still holding out!
That's how it's done.
What a voice he has been gifted with and it looks so easy, just perfection. His voice goes right into your heart and tears it apart.
I love it when people can appreciate Mick 's voice. He has not been lauded globally as he should be.
One of my favourite songs of the 80's. Brilliant live rendition!
I love this song! His voice is incredible! I play his CD in my car. ❤❤❤
Mick Hucknall Alison Moyet jimmy Somerville all give me shivers down my spine and they can still do it today
Mesmerizing
George, Tom, or Mick?
Mick's got this one hands down.
❤
Neal Thank you so much for the suggestion 👍🤩❤️ Love Simply Red, had an Album back in the days.
Until reesently, I had a 30 mayby 40 year brake. Nice revisit. Thank you Harri for the amazing live version 🤩😉🌻
I'm so glad you enjoyed this, Agnete -- our pleasure!
@@pncombies 👍❤️🥰
Loved "I'm glad to be alive today" ! That says it all.
If that voice doesn't send you to la-la land, check for a pulse. Great reaction Harri.
AMEN!
Oh my goodness 😮this was just beautiful 🎸👏🏻his voice is lovely 🤩 Love Simply Red♥️Thank you PN and Harri, I really enjoyed this ♥️🌷
It was our pleasure. You're welcome!
What a voice & thank you for this! So many great songs by Mick....Stars, Sunrise, Never Never Love, For Your Babies....the list is endless!🎶
@@kthorYou're welcome. Thanks for stopping by!
Uh! I recall this delightful song with a huge smile on my face 🙄. On my birthday in 1986, my then 9-yr old son played this song over and over and over..........😂
Great review. Mike is still as good currently.
What a voice!
Goosebumps! Such a beautiful voice! 🎶🎶🎶😍
This song he put out in 1985!!
Simply Red (Mick Hucknall) has an active you tube channel, Harri. You should tag him with this video. I bet he'd love it.🎵🎶🎼👏🏻
I subscribed to his channel last year- was excited to hear he is still making music and has taken on the internet, even though many of his generation aren't generally into creating video content regularly enough to keep a channel going and growing. The vivacious, fiery, red headed soul singer is as potent as ever with his one of a kind voice!❤
❤ ❤❤
You MUST check out "Money's too Tight to Mention" from the same show...incredible!!!
What a pleasure!
I forgot what a stunning singer this man is.
Was at a concert with Mick 10 years later i Copenhagen. At that time more rounded, more soulful, more sophisticated vocally. Mid concert his microphone broke down. He asked audience if they minded he kept on signing without the mic. He actually did it better without....but my God what a powerful voice he has!
Have watched the video version of this song SO many times. The live version lived up. Sensational song and performance.
The pure appreciation of this song in this reaction is incredible. Excellent job with your articulation and observations. What a magical performance, truly tugs on the heartstrings. I'm in tears, once again.
A master class in atmosphere, emotion and share talent, Simply red live is a life long memory.
It's one of those songs that if you once heard it before that you know you're in for a treat.👍👍
He is one of the few artists that sounds just as good live. He has an incredible voice.
Incredible. Saw him live in Toronto at Massey Hall, with a barefoot Joss Stone opening. Still sends shivers down my spine. One of the best concerts EVER.
I know what you mean. I saw him/simply red at roy thompson hall in 1989(!) and when they ended the show with money's too tight they nearly blew the roof off the place! He is the g.o.a.t.
It's 1st or 2nd up there with seeing Sade at MH.Two of my faves. I wish I had seen George Michael when he was alive.
Hari you forgot to mention my baby Sade as one of your favorite British soul singers. Speaking of her you must must react to one of her live performances
SADE is from Nigeria as is Harri origin ❤️ Harri has done some reactions to her,
Cant remember if live? 🤔😊❤️
Truly Blue-Eyed soul!! ❤❤❤
For those of us who sing a bit, this guy just knocks it out the park. He's so accurate, and makes it look effortless. There's a lot of control and work going on, but he's a swan. On the surface he's smooth. His voice glides. This is live. LIVE!! Just wonderful.
I could listen to Mick all day long. Have most of his music in all formats 🙂Thank you.
Harri, You get it all like very few.
Always well done. Thanks!!
Heartbreaking.great song that I’ve enjoyed for decades
I'm curious as to what kind of music you grew up/came of age listening to. I enjoy your reactions to the music of my life. It seems like a whole world of music has opened up to you.
I was blessed with an ear for music but found out in my twenties that not everybody was. I love encountering others who were also blessed.
Thanks for the compliment!
This made my evening. Thank you .
That's so nice to hear. You're welcome -- it was our pleasure!
Amazing
Blue-Eyed Soul, baby!
Great choice Neal, beautiful, thanks, and thanks to Harri for another great reaction.
Thank you, Clint!
This is really the best version.... 🎶🌞♥️✨
Wow so beautiful
You need to see them at Ziggo Dome
What a voice! One of the best live performances I've ever seen ❤
Simply Red, Simply a Masterpiece ! Still today sounds legendary. Saddest line “ Nothing had the chance to be good, NOTHING EVER COULD”. Ugh !!!! Kill me …. I think he was only 17 writing that !!! Wow
Great reaction Harri I agree his voice hits me right in my soul it's so beautiful. 🔥 Such an awesome song really love it and Man U cheers. ✌
Mick is the most underrated singer these days - so glad he is back ! People have said he can't dance, who cares when he can sing, really sing ! Have always loved him.....
Love his voice! It’s beautiful and very unique!!!
Fantastic!! 😍😍
This is absolutely out of this world good - Mick Hucknall and Simply Red are just beasts at what they do
That was just a fantastic version of the song. Didn't think it could be better than the original "radio" version, but...
I'm glad you liked it!
Greetings from Germany :-) We love Simply Red 😀
Great song! Love Simply Red, especially their song sunrise 🌅😊
WOW Talent through and through
Not a huge simply red fan. I know their songs but only went to a concert as my family who went had someone drop out. His voice live is perfection. He is absolutely flawless
Simply Red, loved all stuff of this band, especilly of the 80ies and 90ies. Mick Hucknall is indeed underrated.
He has great singers on stage with him but the entire audience is also his back up singers.
Not only do I wish but I think many people wish they could sing and sound like this man. Talent beyond words to fathom.
Absolutely beautiful!! Wonderful suggestion and great reaction! Loved it!
@miltonslocum8957 Thank you!
@@pncombies You're welcome!
A truly gifted voice. I agree with your reaction. Gave me the God bumps. Lucky were the people that got to experience this concert.
Love how the audience sings along ❤❤
His voice control nd phrasing is so in sync with the lyrics. He's a treasure❤.
Mick non è solo una bellissima voce, è LA VOCE e la reazione lo dimostra in pieno ❤❤❤
Love, love, love it. Always have. But I'm afraid the original grabs me in the feels every single time.
As I grow older, songs like these hit home.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Phenomenal performance. Had the privilege of meeting him at a dinner in Manchester Town Hall many years ago.
WOW, WOW. what a voice !!!
Thank you, Neal and Harri, for an outstanding awe-inspiring song! I have always loved this song. It also gave me shivers. There are some songs that I listen to with my headphones to drown out any background noise; this is one of them! I close my eyes and turn up the volume to receive the full extent of its beauty. ❤ Thankyou@ marybaillie8907 for enlightening me on the history of this magnificently talented voice. He can truly be described as a masterpiece of music. His voice commmands your full attention and respect when he sings! And, Harri, again, your reactions, as per usual, were wonderful. 😊
Our pleasure, Annie -- you're welcome!
There are no words to describe Mick's phenomenal voice. Every time I hear him sing I get goosebumps. His voice is like pure velvet. Thank u so much for your great review. Your description of Mick was perfect! 🇺🇸🇬🇧🎤❤
He is amazing. I will put him at the top of the other two for sure. So much emotion and perfect control.
Simply amazing 💯
