If one has the skills needed would be ok to clean both on LML 6.6 or purchase new ones ? This is 2015 Duramax Silverado
Is it mandatory to reset the ECU or do an EGR Adaptation after replacement ???

I don't know why you need to replace the EGR Valve and cooler. Why can't you just let them soak and clean them up, then reinstall? Saving you the $1000.

Limit short trips,take frequent long drives so the truck can regenerate properly.
Well I have a 2003 6.6 and I'm going to pull it and hopefully just clean it
That is what I did to mine. Last winter it went into fast idle mode and it threw a code about the egr. Took it off and the cooler didn’t look that bad but the egr valve was way bad gummed up. Cleaned it and put it all back together and has been fine ever since. Also found the quick connect to the hose to the firewall was cracked for awhile and changed it out. Had 214k miles on it when I cleaned it and now I’m sitting at 238k.
I don't think my 2003 has an egr
Peter Agersea it depends where the pickup came from. Some had them and some didn’t. Same as with the cat in the exhaust.
