😊 thanks, I’m not to bothered by the subs, I genuinely really enjoy making the videos and having fun in the garden, when I tell my dogs I’m going to the observatory they get so excited 👍
Hello Tom. Wonderful videos. I also have a CGX and will be pier mounting it (my own design). My issue is duplicating that round mating portion (that attaches to the actual mount) which then gets bolted to your top pier plate. Can you tell me where you got that and if it is available as a stand alone item? Thanks !
Ive got 5 of the dew shields, yer they can be like that.. check its not miss shaped or twist it a tad and it should align.. ive cut a couple down in size + cutouts for rasa`s - sharpcap good for PA
I just added an Edge 11 to my gear and struggling to get all my issues resolved for a couple of month latest being a failed encoder on my mount. I've been scratching my head trying to figure out why you were balancing your scope without the camera since the last video, finally the lightbulb turned on and realized you you were using Hyperstar and I just couldn't see your camera inside the dew shield. Great Videos and pier install, I plan to install one of my own for my Edge 11 as soon as I get a proper mount and build some sort of enclosure to keep it safe from the harsh winters in Wyoming.
Thanks for the comment, it is such a lovely scope, I hope you get your issue sorted. Yeah the hyperstar is great 👍 the pier install has really changed everything for me too 👍 we just need some clear skies 🙏
@@Learn_astrophotography Clear Skies have been pretty few and far between here too. Encoder replacement was simple but the motor failed about 30s after reinstalling so now waiting on a motor. The CGEM II is not a great mount for the C11 but it came with the scope and I was hoping it would get me by for a year or so but doesn't look like that is going to happen. I have a counterweight bar on the way for my AM5 hopefully it will work better than the CGEM II otherwise might have to shelf the C11 for a while until I can save enough to get a better mount.
Yeah I’m just in the process of getting on Nina now.. I can’t wait I just hate moving from something that has always worked for me but it will be much better 👍
@@Astro_Shed was just wondering. Mainly because the sand might dribble out? But i guess concrete might too before it sets. Maybe lead shot but the safe equivalent fishermen are supposed to use?
Mate, never put the scope on the mount without the counter weights. That's asking for trouble, if those clutches slip you can say goodbye to your scope
@@Learn_astrophotography You have some nice gear, I would hate for you to damage it. It stands to reason when you think about it, you are putting over 10kg or weight on the mount without any counter weights. If any of the clutches slip its going to be catastrophic!
Great Video Tom, you must have a bottomless wallet, with all the kit you have got the last few months….send the camera back, don’t try and mess with it yourself, get it swapped….its a warranty repair or exchange job, it was a common problem and had to be done by ZWO as the sensor has to come out…..and the sealant pad have to be swapped or it will happen again…I can’t stress enough not to try and do this yourself, especially when it’s under warranty and can be swapped for a new one.. Great image at the end BTW…👏🏻👍🏻
Hey Stuart, thanks for the comment, yeah it has cost me a fair amount 🫣 there really isn’t to much I need now which is great, however I have been looking at the C14 and a new mount I’m just not sure yet, that is a decision I must really know is right for me. Thanks for letting me know about the zwo warranty too I’m going to send it back 👍 clear skies mate!
I just noticed you only have 540 subs. You deserve way more.
😊 thanks, I’m not to bothered by the subs, I genuinely really enjoy making the videos and having fun in the garden, when I tell my dogs I’m going to the observatory they get so excited 👍
Looks like you're all set up now Tom, With that setup Live stacking would be fantastic. Keep the fantastic videos coming Love the channel 👍👍.
Nice one, Tom 👍
Thanks 👍
The clips on the dew shields are adjustable.
Thank you for your comment, mine still un clips even when I adjust it. It must just be a flaw in some of them, one side is perfect 👍

Have considered moving to nina ? It might work better than using rj45 cable from guider to mount? If thats what youre doing?

I have the same dew shield on my cpc 1100 and I have the same issue one side does not clip properly
Thanks for commenting, Yeah it must be a design flaw, it is a little annoying at times. 👍
Could you fill the pier with concrete? Dunno if it would expand on setting though
No no no, you should fill with kiln dried sand not concrete….

أتمنى أن أفعل مرصد كهذا .
Thanks for your comment. It was pretty cost effective doing it like this. 👍
First.. Cheers!

@@Learn_astrophotography what mounts do you have on a shortlist..?
Hope you complained to zwo. Uk law has at least 6 years for manufacturing defects which, with so many examples on youtube it clearly is.
Yeah I’m going to send it back now, thanks for letting me know, I really appreciate that 👍
Light.
Second ;(
Close but no cigar 😂
