    What a performance from India’s captain. With Australia needing to win to realistically keep their hopes alive, he never let them settle with a bombastic display of power play hitting. From there, everything needed to go right for Mitch Marsh’s team… and it didn’t. Geoff watched it in the flesh at St Lucia, he’s with Adam who has a fever. Fun!

    This game was closer than it at first seemed and credit to Australia for not folding after losing Warner early doors. Rohit taking Starc for 29 was mad and the game changer. But India were pulled back when 230 was on the cards. And whilst Head was there with first Marsh and then Maxwell the target looked very much in reach. England looked more disciplined as a bowling unit and maybe have found some form but this Indian team must be odds on to win their semi final.

    There is no need to create an unnecessary controversy over the venue of the semifinals. It's the host that know that maximum fans are indians who fill stadiums and therefore they want to ensure that they sell maximum tickets by declaring in advance where India will play. Other teams barely have a handful of fans. the tournament will make a loss without Indian fans. l. Its the Indian diaspora that fills stadiums. India themselves don't care where they play.

    Starc selection was wrong.
    It was solely based on Afghanistan loss.
    The spinner Agar was successful against Afghanistan, and would have been handy here, especially when the track and ball slowed later.
    Starc is not fit or nearing the end of his career.

      Execution was wrong that’s all. Starc is such a good bowler and experienced bowler that it was a surprise he didn’t drag length back or throw in a slower ball. Bowlers can sometimes be guilty of tunnel vision trying desperately to get that one ball in the right spot and end up serving up the same poor ball again and again (just ask Ben Stokes).

    • @devangmetha
      @devangmetha 12 дней назад

      By not fit I meant he may have been injured. Which may have been another reason he was not picked for the Afghanistan game.

    Every DAY (day game), the chasing team, loses (when no Associate nation is involved). Yet, every DAY, a captain wins the toss and chooses to CHASE.
    One can never under-estimate the predictability of stupidity.
    And right now, no 2 people are stupider than Mitch Marsh and Ronald McDonald.

    I’m not sure why everyone is already writing Australia’s obituary.
    Afg / Ban is 60/40 at best. That means there’s a 40% chance of Australia progressing to the Semis still. Don’t be shocked if you see them lifting the trophy again in a few days

      Whatever you are taking man is just too strong for you, it has hampered your brain functions😂😂..
      Australia got lucky in 2023 wc final, it was their day but the entire tournament was dominated by india and india started that win by beating Australia in chennai so tbh the best team did not win the world cup infact it was the second best team that won, indians were unlucky..
      In 1983 when india won the world cup, do you think that made india a better team than mighty west indies of that time , ofcourse not its just West Indies had a bad day but still they were the most strongest team of that era and dominated that competition but was unlucky when it came to india..
      The same team would beat india 8 out of 10 times in 1980s so sometimes its just a bad day but india is the number 1 team in the world its just we are unlucky in semis and finals..
