True. The English don't play Russia in football. But they are buddies with the worst imperial empire of the 20th and 21st century - The USA. After all, the UK is just a vassal state of the US with no independent foreign policy.
The English hatred for India is well and truly there. Just read the comment section of the Guardian or the BBC. It's not a one person thing. Collectively, they hate us for what we are and they sympathize with an Islamic Theocracy next door, which harbours terrorists. That says it all.

Yes. The English don't play Russia at Football while they suck up to the Imperial Empire, that is the USA. The hypocrisy is nauseating. After all, the UK is a vassal state of the US.
There is a deep seated hatred for India, it is not just one or two people, just look at the comments in The Guardian and the BBC. All of them are sympathetic to an Islamic theocracy next door. That says it all.
At this point it is just insecurity as the UK is utterly irrelevant in the global order.

David Lloyd says that cricket should be governed by decent people, hinting at India's dominance in the sport. Are you implying that Indians are indecent? It's quite ironic for a British person to lecture others about decency. Many older individuals still struggle to accept that the world has moved on and Britain is no longer the empire where the sun never sets.
He also praises Pakistan as a fantastic country. The problem is not Pakistan, the problem is terrorism and extremism that originates from Pakistan. He might ignore the suffering of hundreds of terror attack victims in India, but he should ask some of his fellow countrymen about the issues in his own country and their fears of London becoming 'Londonistan.' Regarding the participation of Pakistani players, we don't want our money to be used against our country and its army that protects our borders 24/7, 365 days a year. We tried to mend ties multiple times, only to face more terror attacks.
And for what it's worth, it was the PCB that initially caused issues by not allowing its players to participate in the IPL due to security concerns. They never expected such a snubbing from the BCCI afterward.
And great job, Jarrod, for trying to bring some sense into the discussion, even though it felt like you were talking to a brick wall. I'm not saying everything is perfect with the BCCI or IPL; there's plenty of room for improvement. However, some of the comments made were illogical.
Edit: India/BCCI contributes about 80-85% of the revenues to the ICC and takes back only 38% and these people call us a monopoly lol. If we acted like one, none of the associate teams would have survived.

These countries care much more about football than cricket. Even in Australia or England, how popular is cricket really? Cricket is mostly a South Asian affair. Even in Asia football is the king. The charge of monopoly coming from English cricket is gold. But yes, the loss of objectivity in commentry and commentators being turned into cheerleaders and franchise league owners behaving like team managers are important issues. But the thing is as on field commentary gets undermined we have rise of indie commentators through the internet. And in a way it is a better arrangement for cricket nerds. They get to pick and choose and even present live feedback. I agree with Jarrod IPL should be include more teams and run for a longer period. You can't fight time , you got to embrace it.
One thing everyone needs to remember India didn't need T20. Indeed for most of the first decade of T20 India's attitude towards it was lukewarm. India used to get full house in ODIs and great crowd in Test matches back in the 2000s. T20 was made so that boards like ECB or NZC , etc could make money. Then ICL happened and threatened a Kerry Packer 2.0 . At that point BCCI had to bring in IPL

But, 1) foreign boards don't have the business model to make that much money due to lack of eyeballs, 2) if they do that then BCCI will abstain from touring in those countries leading to even drop in profits of foreign boards becos every1 needs IND to tour, a cash cow... 3) Indian administrators in the ICC will not let than happen to indian cricket... Also forgot to mention another thing, Earlier people who loved cricket, played cricket, most of the indian player who won 1983 world cup had day jobs, also then BCCI was so poor that a concert was arranged by Famous singer Lata Mangeshkar & all the proceeds of this concert went to the players who won the tournament. Fast forward 2024, BCCI gives US$ 15 million to the team (including players and staff) BCCI does not just sit on the money, it develops infra at grass roots. It also used the idea of IPL to put in WPL for women. Further BCCI is one of the board that has equal pay for men and women in cricket. Each board wants to play cricket with india because it brings in money. unfortunately in today's world, money talks.
till 90s West Indies was the strongest team with lot of top cricketers, I can even tell you the entire 1983 line up, Gordon Greenidge, Desmond Haynes, Viv Richards, Clive Lloyd, Larry Gomes, Geoff Dujon, Malcolm Marshall, Michael Holding, Andy Roberts, joel Garner, Each one a top player. But where are the players now? people who take up the sport, either do for the love of it, or for the money, there is not much money in cricket, their league is in shambles because of no sponsorhip. West Indies look hopefully at ways to bring in money for their cricket, there was a millionaire who put a league at huge money, but did not pay anyone, remember? IPL is bringing in money, its team owners are buying franchise in other countries where they want to develop cricket, where there are people of cricket playing countries. See the sudden rise of USA. there are people who see potential to play there. Of course IPL is a monopoly due to its huge viewership, and following & it may not last always, but till the time it lasts, why not build a good basic to ensure the development and growth of cricket, let the youth & kids involved in the sport either by love of sport or lure of money. If a good player from say Greenland, which does not have a team what should he do? IPL is place for such, maybe some team like USA watch them and offer citizenship for them to play, already corey Anderson is playing for USA,

Why are you bothering with that old fool! It is sad that a man in his position is not aware of world politics to understan the Pakistan situation or he is CLEARLY a colonialist who is pissed off that India is ruling cricket and not England! He never did an interview like this when the whole world had to go to England to play in their leagues - when England had THEIR players playing in APARTHEID South Africa (Little to NO respect for the coloured cricket nation - one such player was Andrew Jackman!). The ENGLISH CANNOT be the DECENT people he wants to run the game!!! He is "STEWING" that POC have taking over the game!!!

Cricket needs to grow definitely but in the process we should not kill it . Simple questions need to be asked:
    1. How many people watch cricket in England?
    2. How many watch in USA ?
    3. How many watch in New Zealand?
    4. How many watch in West Indies ?
    5. How many watch in South Africa?
Before you answer keep in mind the numbers in Bangladesh, Pakistan, India , Afghanistan
People watch IPL because of star power . The stars in cricket are made by BCCI , grooming young cricketers. It’s correct if BCCI earns money out of it .
No one watches county cricket or big bash , why should anyone waste money there ?
Even in those countries Indians living there come and watch .
What crap are they talking about ? .
No one is interested in cricket other than south Asians .
If they want revenue let them focus on growing the game in their countries.
    All hyped up nonsense

Put your own money where your mouth is and pay the Pakistanis to play cricket for the league for all we care 😂😂 What kind of a debate is this? Don’t blame BCCI because they are richer.

I've been watching cricket since a very long time and I am a hardcore fan of test cricket. Off late, I am not very sure that I am not watching predetermined stuff like WWF in cricket. It just doesn't feel like old times...I love it when a swing bowlers comes and swings the ball and the batsman defends beautifully, times beautifully, or when the ball beats the bat. That is poetry! The problem is test cricket takes too much time today. So, I think maybe they have to change the ball to something that gives enough to the bowler straight away like a tape ball. And try to provide the equivalent of test cricket in T20. Otherwise, I don't see how there is place for Akrams and Anderson's and Dravids in this form of cricket. You see there is no place for timing and class based players with a slight bias towards playing slow in T20. Test cricket was about your skill and also character. T20 doesn't have it. There has to be a format where character is appreciated and that cannot take 5 days - there is no time now!

That's because many former England Cricketers like David Lloyd, David Gower, Michael Vaughan and Mark Butcher are Pro Pakistani and harbour hatred and jealousy towards India. These former England Cricketers are regular invitees in PSL (Pakistan Super League Cricket Tournament) as Commentators every year and hence they are showing their loyalty towards Pakistan. Due to IPL Popularity, Vitality Blast and 100 Balls Franchise Cricket Started in England but couldn't matched with the success of IPL, hence salty and sour grapes comments.
