Question of the day 💡Have you tried filming a video without editing and posting it?! FREE ON-DEMAND CLASS 🎯 Learn 3 Secrets for Growing Your RUclips Channel in 2022 👉 ThinkMasterclass.com
👉🏻Every single one of my videos. I may re-shoot a video 3-5x but once I'm satisfied or frustrated...I upload, title, tags, thumbs and publish as is. I use what I've got and sometimes that ain't a lot (that what she said) ... but I keep on the grind. 😁👍
Yes, all of my videos so far! That's what allowed me to start a channel recently, and that process has changed how I'm approaching everything now, which actually makes way more sense for me and the type of content I want to create than what I had planned.
No!! Because every video I watched said to edit videos. Now you are saying it's okay to record without editing. I have scripting upcoming shows but now. I'm going to post videos as instructed here.
As a youtube tarot reader, this is what we do. I usually just upload the shorter videos and edit the longer one just to improve the color and sound. Otherwise no B-roll or cutting the video. Out props are the tarot cards and oracle cards. They are very beautiful and we just hold them up to the screen. We spend a lot of money on decks. 😅
I'll give it a go , my laptop is s..l..o..w.. at editing. It could speed up my filming a lot. Using props is good , I always have to show items I bought to resell, but use text overlays too, a whiteboard instead makes sense.
I just restarted my RUclips channel and I purposely DO NOT edit any of them. I only add my intro and subscribe stuff but my video is a straight imperfect shot of the content. It has kept me consistent and authentic. ❤ So glad you all made this video!!!!
I’ve noticed that some guys that have a lot of views don’t edit and some use a phone to record. Due to my busy life I started just uploading with no edits. Straight from ecam record. I’ve noticed that RUclips channels I watch are more about the content than the production. Good video.
I haven't been able to edit my vids which caused a year long pause on my channel. Now I found a software I can finally edit my videos with and it was soooo satisfying I nearly didn't work on recording another video I've been working on. I honestly enjoy editing too.
I do mostly makeup tutorials and editing is a must otherwise, the video becomes too long, shows irrelevant things and just drags on. I personally do the simplest of edits.
Hey @Ivy, Let's see how we can collaborate so I can learn some new editing skills and you get to focus more on your content and ideas. I need to explore different themes compared to the ones I focus on. If your interested, we can chat on Gmail / Comment on your video. 👍🧑💻
I'm up for the challenge. Many of us are busy doing other things and neglect our channel because of the editing portion. You are correct that once the proper planning is done for title, thumbnail and good content to keep ppl around, people don't really care about the high production stuff
as long as we get what the title thumbnail promised. it's fine people consume video because ( in their brain ) it's faster for some type of informations they are looking for. sometimes a blog article is better. but now video is the medium people use
My opinion as someone whos edited and released all kinds of videos is it really depends on the vibe of the video. If it’s a podcast, probably doesn’t need a ton of editing. If it’s a music reaction video, make it up beat, quick. If it’s a creative film or inspirational video, you should pour your heart and soul into editing. There are definitely times where editing too much is actually a problem. It can feel too fake, unnatural, and even annoying. Always keep your viewer in mind and focus on the actual content in the video. That’s the most important thing.
Spot on. I think people don't realise, without a plan, you will never know what amount of editing you need. I'm slightly biased as I do editing rather than create content. You made a lot of points which people need to understand. If you haven't got the time to edit but looking to create something entertaining, then collaborate with others. You won't be able to go head to head with the seasoned YT's without support.
Nice! I’m going to try this too. It’s funny you are bringing this up-there is an adorable MUA I follow that I adore and she’s killer with her funny editing but it’s almost too much sometimes, it distracts me a bit. Great advice!
I have to edit. I make mistakes, flub lines, quickly check notes on my phone. All stuff that doesn’t need to be in a video. Very rarely I have a one take moment. But for the most part, it needs to be streamlined.
Thanks for the push. Though I don't think I'm quite ready yet to post without editing, I do think I'll start rehearsing what I'm actually going to say more, to help the editing process, which I'm going to also try to keep minimal. For me, the editing process is probably the hardest one to get over but once I start it, it's easier than I think it's going to be. Bearing inside, I'm not new to posting on YT but the same issue of editing is still there. Just have to focus on making the process easier first by filming with less errors to cut then find a way to psyche myself up to edit.
You got this sis! I never edit my videos! I just shoot straight thru! I learned to just talk and not stumble over my words. Even when I stumble I keep going. Plan and shoot! ❤❤❤
Hey @FaceOnNails, As a fellow Brit, I be down for collaborating as an editor. I need to test myself on different themes as I work more on automotive themes. If you're interested, let's chat via Gmail and let me have a go at your next video. It be a challenge for me! 👍
I cannot tell you how GRATEFUL I am that you made this video! I have a new RUclips channel and someone was helping me edit and load my videos then they bailed. I was left high and have been STUCK trying to figure out editing. You totally pushed me out of stuck mode when you said "content value is far more important than production value". Until I master editing, I'll post my videos AS IS because in actuality, I don't think my subscribers will care whether my videos are edited properly or not. IN FACT, in my next video, I will let them know that I am learning and to please be patient with me lol! Thanks Again 🙃
This is very good. Thank you. But yes, that is the number one reason I stop uploading videos on my sewing & craft channel because of the editing. I have to do the crafts, create the video, and edit… I have to do all these three components all by myself very exhausting and draining and led me to stop uploading content. But how is the world going to see me if I do not continue to put myself out there? I will have to start hiring someone to do the editing for me, but who TH can afford that??? Then my iPhone keeps running out of storage space which means I have to delete a ton of sh!t just to save / edit videos. AGAIN THIS PROCESS IS EXHAUSTING. I want to get back into sewing and crafting videos. People on my craft channel are asking me, but I just don’t have the time or the energy for the editing. That’s the part that drains the life out of me😢Forgive me, I’m only human😞
I always edit the video, removing the first couple of seconds and then the end (where I search for the stop recording). Beyond that, edit a video ?? I prefer to spend more time thinking about the video beforehand, along with titles and thumbnails.
Totally agree with one exception...this is just for beginners. Anyone creating content new or vet should step back and think of how they produce. Edits for the sake of editing isn't necessary nor art either. Just a thought.
A few thoughts. As you said and as the saying goes, "Practice, Practice, Practice. Master presenter Simon Sinek says if your presentation seems rehearsed it means you have not rehearsed enough. So, I have started a channel called *Confidence on Camera* for the purpose of practicing. I'm experimenting with freestyle, bullet points, and reading from a teleprompter. I upload to RUclips without editing the video or processing the audio. I invite viewers to give feedback, list the name of their channels, and add links to their videos so that we can help each other improve. I have a main channel called *The-Examined-Life* for civil discussion of current events, issues, and ideas.
I really get tired of listenning to "Title an Thumbnail" in nearly every video - what about the quality of content? Why is it more important to be a great Title- and Thumbnail-Creator than being a great content-creator?
This was so encouraging because I have so many recorded videos that I felt like I needed to add all this extra stuff to help with retention but I'll do exactly what you said and just upload it.
I love this idea, especially for something like shorts. People think they have to have high production value, but if you get comfortable with yourself and what you know this will make people engage a lot more. Look at me, I'm engaging.
It would be interesting to talk about the retention graph of this video in a future video to see if it performed as well as the scripted videos on the channel 👍
It is by far the most stressful, unappealing part to me doing the videos. Editing is not something I enjoy. I will take your suggestions and run with them! Thanks for modeling it too! You are being a rebel in the wave of "DO THIS" in the opposite direction. Things that freak me out is accidental copyright. I have a ton of ideas, but the support b-roll is tricky to assemble without using references that are NOT in stock references or something I can shoot. Nobody addresses that topic. Care to expand on that topic?
Wow this video spoke to my heart lol. I’ve been delaying my next video for this very reason, dreading the editing and the time it’ll take. Waiting for that “right” time. I’m going to try this with my next video. Thanks for this!
I think when it’s not edited, it’s more authentic and not planned. What happens just happens. You also get to see the real person versus a scripted person. I’ve done many and I stop stressing over perfection.
🙄🙄🙄🙄 I will still edit on my 2nd channel Looking down to notes to find the next point The ehhhmmss The blackouts 😅 Thanks but I will still edit Even after all you said we should edit in RUclips editor I rather think a small RUclipsr should not waste people’s time , get straight to the point and don’t waste their time so they can subscribe On my other channel I speak for like 12mins and after editing it comes down to 6 minutes only
This is exactly the process I follow and one of my channels is growing. The most editing I do is to record an intro, do a tutorial then an outro paste it together and post
I tend to disagree with this. I get the sentiment, but I believe editing is THE most important thing to keep your audience watching and keep the algorithm happy. Since I started RUclips, the only thing to keep my channel growing has been improvements in the edit, and even if someone doesn't like editing, or are not very good at it, I think if they want to take a step in the right direction, it's important to learn and continually improve the most important part of production. You could give me 100 clips from one of my first videos, and the edit I would do today versus then would make a much more watchable video. EDIT IS ALL. Great video though and well done doing all that in one cut - I certainly couldn't!
I think it's coz it's a delicate balance. Coz you're spot on. The way RUclips is going and the way the algorithms work is pushing it towards that fast cut style of content, someone once called it the "Mr Beast-ification of RUclips" which is what the algorithms love and basically will make people not click off videos, but with that delicate balance it then tends to make creators lose their individuality and their soul if you will be coz you're just being you rather than constantly trying to play games to keep the viewer engaged. But you're right in the sense that if you're tryna grow it's something you'll have to basically do until you have a consistent audience then you can just freestyle like he's doing in this video coz we are a returning audience so we know wassup already going into this video
Now adays I did not editing my video because the internal storage of my phone is already full. Because of that I wasn't able to use an editing apps, it says that I need to pay for it before I can use the apps. So, what I'm doing right now is to film my video and direct upload it Ill just use my iPad when I wanted to do shout out of my Bronze Members. That's I'm doing right now. I can't buy a new phone because until now I did not receive first salary from my RUclips channel.
I edit mine very little - because I just am new and I find it dull and - I am such a noob I don't know what I 'm doing lol . I'm glad to hear that it's not the biggie after all. I did hope it was more about the content and fun
90% of my videos aren't edited I do mostly live streams. I might try using props more. I agree planning is key for sure! Sometimes I don't have time to plan the live stream and then I usually miss things that I wanted to say.
My videos are lame and bring viewers no joy......except for the editing, I like the editing. If I were to stop editing than nobody would like my videos whatsoever. I've had one or two that were not edited much. But, I had one a couple days ago that took 3 hours just to insert a couple short clips. That said, your advice is good encouragement for people. I like it! Go People Go!
I don't think not editing works well with makeup videos, makeup tutorials. I understand the concept of not making a video longer than it needs to be, but doing a full face of makeup in real time can take up to an hour. Some of that time is looking for a brush other than the one taken out to use, or the person decides a blush shade isn't working and gets a different one. I've seen people get up, walk across the room, spend time searching for something and I'm thinking they should have edited that out. I also know people who don't edit their makeup looks and they do most of their makeup in silence. That's boring AF. I think editing or not editing depends on the type of video and the content. I edit my makeup videos. I don't edit when I do tag videos, hauls, or storytime videos.
Most the people who doing channel spesial from Thailand have system believe about the vdeo should be long over 8-10 or more to keep time and ad up to survive on youtube 😓 which sometimes we have to endure watching until the end but only one scene or one place is presented.
my buddy and i have a youtube channel together and we do it like this: we bought a license for adobe express, there is also premiere RUSH included. so we can make thumbnails in adobe express and cut the videos with RUSH and that is perfectly sufficient, just cut quickly, make small transition effects, equalize audio, done! it is super convenient. the best thing is that we film with the iphone and simply transfer the filmed via airdrop to the ipad, and there we can do everything.
I love this. When I find myself watching a video because there is so much editing (my ADD brain), I have a thought- why am I watching this? So it comes back to value for the audience. 👍
I want to say that I haven't edited a video in about two years and my channel continues to steadily grow. Not a large channel but I'm happy with it. Many people say what they like is the authenticity of the channel. My thumbnails aren't even really good but hey I'm getting paid. I'll stop and record throughout, to show different things but again I don't edit. I will say that I think a mixture of unedited and edited is great and will be doing about 50/50 in the future. Not editing also helps if you do live streams, or would like to, you're more comfortable with a better flow I believe. Just my two cents, best wishes everyone!
@@CharlonClarke @Charlon Official no problem at all, a little trial and error at first but you'll tighten it up, good luck! And obviously what works for one channel may not as much for another, all about what that audience prefers but as you know you can gauge that interest with the youtube analytics... ok again, best of luck!
You said "Like" and "Um" a few times. But you are right. I think RUclips has room for people to just be themselves. My wife and I do a Garden RUclips channel we just started this year called EcoFarmstead. And we are using gardening and home improvements on our home to teach others how to do different projects with some edits but for the most part we get the message out. Getting better takes time and hopefully people see most content creators spend hours at times trying to make the perfect video show others the hard work that is involved into making these videos. I like the ones that are real with their content. It's hard work to do a 10-15 minute video and most people don't see that. People who understand that hard work will appreciate the time and motions involved into making this content. I know many content creators that do just that, make good average real content. Make videos with some mistakes and get better over time and allow time to let others to see that progress. It's a tough niche. But keeping on time weekly videos will get you there eventually. If you have a good message to get out that aligns with someone's interest I think you will get followers that align. That's my thoughts ... --chris
I literally use the RUclips editor all the time. I mostly use b-rolls in OBS, so I still edit, but it's always been in the RUclips editor. Never thought I would see someone break this down, thanks for the reminder 🙌 This is a cool video
Omar, are you using a teleprompter? You speak so naturally, it’d be amazing to hear you spoke without one. If youre using a teleprompter, can you point us to your setup?

this was dope omar!
Well this could work some time but not all the time, People make lot of mistakes when they speak to camera specially new one so editing make sense
I recorded last weekend with a goal of not having to edit. It worked great, the process of getting it on to RUclips has been much easier this week!
Thank you so much Omar. Planning really help. We'll keep getting better.
You’re right. I watched this entire video with out skipping. You got me.
Great video. I was wondering how much value all that fancy editing really added to the videos. Thanks!
Great information
Love it!
This is great news! I'm going for it!
I'll give it a go , my laptop is s..l..o..w.. at editing. It could speed up my filming a lot. Using props is good , I always have to show items I bought to resell, but use text overlays too, a whiteboard instead makes sense.
Awesome

I don't do much editing. What you see is what you get. Transparency
That's kool
Same here
Yes!!! Me too!!!
This really helps thanks bro! My 140k followers are tired of me only having "shorts" 😭
“Content value is more important than production value” that sticks with me
whenever I watch how to fix stuff in the bathroom, the video quality is horrible, but the content is A1.. and the bathroom did get fixed!
Yep! Love that one

This is me! I don’t edit my videos.👍 But great points about using props.
Amazing. No way I could do as smooth of a single take like this. Luckily I enjoy the editing phase of the process tho. It’s my favorite part.
I haven't been able to edit my vids which caused a year long pause on my channel. Now I found a software I can finally edit my videos with and it was soooo satisfying I nearly didn't work on recording another video I've been working on. I honestly enjoy editing too.

I edit mine very little - because I just am new and I find it dull and - I am such a noob I don't know what I 'm doing lol
I'm trying to do that for sure one day , It seems I focus too much on editing at times
99% of my videos are!! :)
LOVVEEE IT!!! Omar, how many takes did this take?? 😂 Great work!
Oh I just heard you say about 3 times. Not bad 😊
This was a very encouraging video. I want more of these that was really great, thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Man I wish, I make DIYs , I have to edit
Editing is the fun part!! Probably my downfall is rushing the filming, putting most my time into research and editing
Do you have a link for how to title your videos? Mentioned in the video. Thanks! Really helpful.
This is legit . Great stuff team. 🎬💯

Nice watch, man 🤌
Most the people who doing channel spesial from Thailand have system believe about the vdeo should be long over 8-10 or more to keep time and ad up to survive on youtube 😓 which sometimes we have to endure watching until the end but only one scene or one place is presented.
im def editing it.
Also as gaming channel owner I could spend 2 or 3 hrs recording for one 3 to 5 minute video so without editing it would be a marathon video
I've been doing unedited vlogs on my second channel in the hope that I'll get better at talking to a camera. This is encouraging :D
I would like to see a series of this using different camera setups
my buddy and i have a youtube channel together and we do it like this: we bought a license for adobe express, there is also premiere RUSH included. so we can make thumbnails in adobe express and cut the videos with RUSH and that is perfectly sufficient, just cut quickly, make small transition effects, equalize audio, done! it is super convenient. the best thing is that we film with the iphone and simply transfer the filmed via airdrop to the ipad, and there we can do everything.
I love this. When I find myself watching a video because there is so much editing (my ADD brain), I have a thought- why am I watching this? So it comes back to value for the audience. 👍
This was the motivation I needed😁 I am so glad he did this video💯
I want to say that I haven't edited a video in about two years and my channel continues to steadily grow. Not a large channel but I'm happy with it. Many people say what they like is the authenticity of the channel. My thumbnails aren't even really good but hey I'm getting paid.
I'll stop and record throughout, to show different things but again I don't edit. I will say that I think a mixture of unedited and edited is great and will be doing about 50/50 in the future.
Not editing also helps if you do live streams, or would like to, you're more comfortable with a better flow I believe.
Just my two cents, best wishes everyone!
thanks for that, I tend to edit ALOT and the even when I do shorts i edit as well. I'll get there one day for sure
@@thebookpeddler appreciate it. Thanks!!!
Thank you for this brilliant tips… we’ll try do live video next time..❣️
100% agreed. This is something I been noticing lately about videos I find myself watching that have MINIMAL editing
Editing is definitely a pain in the butt lol
I kind of agree, but I've got a video with a 90% CTR but only 40s average watch time, it is edited, but it only gets like 1 view a day.
--chris
My most viewed VideoS are the ones I didn't edit 😂 but I still kill myself tryna edit
Planning position’s your Video. Time spent planning is not wasted time ! I am gonna give this a try !
I need to edit because my niche requires a lot of repetitive steps - great information though!
