I highly recommend the first black country singer and my mom's personal favorite singer Charlie Pride. Charlie Pride is to country what Nat King Cole was to jazz.
Glen Campbell for me. Wichita Lineman and Galveston are not only two of the best-written songs of any genre, but Glen's recordings of them are possibly the two best Country songs of all time. Musical magic.
He and all his buddies were part of the wrecking crew so he definitely had some good back up those guy played on a lot of stuff rock country blues Glen was a wicked guitarist great voice went way too soon country and music in general wept the day he past.
Black country artist: Charlie Pride. Inducted CMA Hall of Fame in 2000. The song I remember most of his is Kiss an Angel Good Morning. But he has had a huge career in Country Music
While Charley is not the first black man in country, he is I believe only the second and was the first in about 40 years. Today there are several black and biracial singers in country Chapel Hart is a trio who were on America's Got Talent.
There’s many, many other great country artists to check out. Your list fits you perfectly, today. The more you learn, the more you’ll evolve. It’s never ending.
Prolly ought to check out George Strait -"Troubadour." "Islands In The Stream" iwith Dolly and Kenny. And if you haven't heard "He Stopped Loving Her Today" then you don't know country. I also suggest "Believe" by Brooks and Dunn and also their "Neon Blue."
Try some Freddy Fender for Latino infused country music. He sang TexMex but had a lot of crossover hits. "Before the Next Teardrop Falls" is a good place to start.
@@brendaenglish2477Same! My mom had a bunch of 33 and 45 records, and one of the 45 records was Freddy Fender. One side was "Before the Next Teardrop Falls", and the other side was "I Fought the Law". I was 4 years old belting it out in the living room until our record player broke when I was 12. I was SOOOOOO UPSET!!
I bet there is a whole cornfield worth of Country folks you haven't heard yet...Speaking of Black Country, try a little Pride, Charlie Pride. Oh, and before the mullett, there was a 50s/60's style known as the DA, which stands for Duck A*s, which looks kinda like your current doo.
Hey Sebs, I really enjoy your channel. I think it's great that you put an early top 10 list together. I also think that as you listen to more country music, the list will change some over time. On a different note, because you are such a "daughter's father," you need to listen to Alan Jackson's "Drive." He has 3 daughters, I think. But the video should make you reflect on your daughter's and mean even more as they grow up and share your memories.
Randy Travis’s I Told You So is a great song and is also covered by Carrie Underwood, and a duet version they sang together on American Idol. The original is awesome, but I do love Carrie’s vocals on it
I have always tried to keep an open mind when it comes to music in general. I will listen to a song at least once and then decide if I like that song or not. Yes there a few genres that I'm less likely to "Like". It's always nice to see more people enjoying music regardless of which kind it is. Enjoy your travels down the Road of Country Music.
Sebs, it’s been so fun watching you become a country convert! I think anybody that thinks they don’t like country music just hasn’t really listened to it. For all the reasons you’ve mentioned, it’s music that speaks to almost anyone. And your advice to remain curious not judgmental is a great lesson for any area of our lives, not just music. I think if we would all heed that advice, we would understand more about each other rather than focusing on things that divide or make us different. I’m another Utah transplant, but consider Utah my home too because I’ve been here longer than where I was born. Love to see you guys are from Salt Lake, so am I. Maybe I’ll run into you sometime!

"Lady" was indeed written by Lionel Ritchie but it was specifically written for Kenny Rogers. If I remember correctly, The Commodores either had already disbanded or they were about to. Lionel had decided to seek a solo career and Kenny was one of if not the first to accept him into whatever genre he wanted to pursue. He actually asked Lionel to write a song for him. "Lady" is that song. The Commodores already had a big hit with a song, "Three Times a Lady" and it had crossed over from the pop genre to the country genre, which at that time was extremely rare. Country songs did then, and still do, cross over much more often.
I love your Country playlist and I have to admit that I don't know of many of the newer artists...2000+ . Glad to see Conway Twitty in the list, probably my favorite, saw him 4 times, once with Loretta Lynn, check out On the Other Hand by Randy Travis, I believe it was his first hit,
Texan 67yr gal entered the convos. Not ready for Toby, cant too many tears still flowing. Appreciate your conversion to my peoples music 🤠🇺🇲. PLEASE l8sten to our country gals! Dolly, Lorrie Morgan Tammy Wynette, June Carter,
Nice list but you're right you've missed a lot of artists, Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Patty Loveless, Vince Gill, Loretta Lynn, Crystal Gale, even Linda Ronstadt has a country side. Then there is Buck Owens, Dwight Yoakam, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Marty Robins, Martina McBride, Patsy Cline, Reba McIntire, Bob Wills & the Texas Playboys, Brooks & Dunn. You've got a lot of listening left to do and you may find yourself revising your list from time to time, or you may just have a longer list. Welcome to country.
Great list. And what I love is that you actually have Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys on this list. No one ever mentions Bob Wills and I'm thrilled that someone else remembers him. I was raised on Bob Wills and I love that western swing sound. But as I have no doubt you know, "once your down in Texas, Bob Wills is still the king." I'm Texas born and Southern bred.
Yours was the first reaction video I ever saw, now I am hooked I check them out every day to see songs played from my age group. Everyone has their own top 10 singers or groups, not sure I have even heard a few of yours. But every time I see you with your lovely wife or you speak of your children, I know where your heart lays and wanted to share a few songs or artist I know will touch your heart strings and maybe a tear in your eye as you reflect on them. Alabama-You'll Never Be One Again The Judds- Grandpa's Hands Paul Overstreet- Heros, Sowin Love,Love Don't Feel Like a Ball and Chain and a few more of his. Have great and wonderful day.
Eddie Rabbit- I love a Rainy night, Don Williams- turn out the lights and love me to night, it must be love, lord i hope this day is good and many more. Mel McDaniel-Baby's got her blue jeans on, and Nitty Gritty Dirt band- fishin in the dark.
Glad you came up with this "they conformed me" list. Unashamedly, I can write I have seen 10 of the 15 total artists you mentioned. Wow, looking back I never considered myself a huge country music lover, but realizing how many country concerts I have attended (with seeing a few of those more than twice) I guess I listen to a lot of country. Thanks for the time you & Ali sacrifice to share your time with us. It's nice to see videos that are not laced with profanities everywhere. Y'all stay connected, laugh together at least once a day & tell someone you love them once a day. Easily done with having daughters!
That is a list of some of the best past & present. Loved you explaining why you placed them in your list. Keep up listening and you will go down some deep rabbit holes!
the whole video i was just hoping that hardy would be number one. him and his music has changed my life and i love when others give him the recognition he deserves as well!!! i’ve loved watching you grow to love him
I like 👍 many of the singers on your list. I heard country music when I was a young boy 👦. My older relatives and older neighbors listened to classic country in the 1930s to 1950s when they were young. The black country singer I first heard of was Charley Pride. I remember the late Ray Charles on Hee Haw and other country music shows. Other singers: the late Glen Campbell, Pat Green, Phil Vassar, Shania Twain 🇨🇦, Faith Hill, Sara Evans, Tammy Wynette, Crystal Gayle, Deborah Allen, Alabama, Little River Band (only the members from Australia 🇦🇺), Martina McBride, Dolly Parton. I listen to many country singers from Canada 🇨🇦 and Australia 🇦🇺 in addition to those from the USA 🇺🇸
@@catwhisperer9489 Yes 👍 I did not think of her at the moment. I did forget Loretta Lynn, the late older sister of Crystal 🔮 Gayle, and their late friend Patsy Cline. Many more adds. My fellow listeners may add their favorites to this chain ⛓!
Your conversion and favorite additions to your overall music playlist has been an amazing experience to witness, props to your wife to broading your horizons. And also being a girl dad myself I have experienced different music than I normally would have
You are so fun to watch and listen to. I'm a country fan who has just been listening to podcasts lately and channels like you reacting to my favorites but today you introduced me to two i didn't even know including Hardy. So thanks!
As you said this is your list and I respect that. It is also a generational thing I'm 78 and have so much more listening history that you are only beginning to acquire. I don't think I could break it down to only 10. If I had to choose an artist to go on a list I would always say Hank Williams Sr. The list becomes so much harder after that. Too much good music to begin eliminating artists. Bravo to you for having the will to make such a list. I'm not sure I could.
I was literally hoping you were picking Hardy as your #1!!! And i was stoked when you said he was 1!! LFG. You have to see him live bro, he’s amazing! And also, TL is amazing(even though you said only season 1 is good, lol)
Not country, but you need to take a listen to Jeremy Renner’s new album Love and Titanium. This album was written following/durning his recovery following the Devastating injuries he sustained just a year ago, it’s amazing he has made such progress in such a short time. He has actually started acting again. Perseverance, endurance, and love of family,.. it’s amazing.
You comment about not knowing how to do anything 'survival like' made me laugh. It also gave me an idea. The Boy scouts of America, now have girls in it too. My niece is a scout & has learned some cool survival things while camping. That could be something you & your girls could do together when they get older.
Thanks! I would love for you to try George Jones - who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes. It is so true when it comes to the great singers like Toby, Loretta, Tammy, Johnny and the list goes on and on.
I love your list, Sebs. The two things I will say are-- check out some OLDER country music, particularly Charley Pride. He was a black country star in the 1970's. Also-- there are some fabulous women in country music. Don't miss out on that half of the genre. Love your channel!
Truly enjoy your heartfelt comments and I'm ecstatic that you're starting to feel what country music has to offer. There is just so much there -- especially when you tune into the old stuff. Despite my love for old-fashioned country, I have to agree that new guys like Hardy and Morgan Wallen are terrific. They are really starting to make country music fun again.
So I just found this channel tonight, would really recommend some Hank Williams Jr. Country Boy Can Survive is one of the best, but there are a ton of great ones. Also you need to hear David Allen Cole 's song You Never Even Call Me By My Name.
You should see the video of Kenny Rogers and Lionel Richie talking about the making of "Lady"! Back in the '70's when Kenny was BIG, he called up Lionel who was writing for everyone and himself and the Commodores as well and Kenny said he wanted to collaborate. Lionel said "Nah, I don't think so!" and then Kenny said something like "I think this could sell like 8 or 9 million records" and Lionel's response was "See you on Friday!" They told that story on a few tribute to Kenny shows and I find it hilarious! Then ended up being friends for nearly 50 years.
As you noted, it's YOUR list... Good choices but mine would be different of course... Good video and you backed them up with your explanations...Enjoy your day!
Good choices. Have you ever listened to John Michael Montgomery? Especially "The Little Girl", which will tug at your heart. But he also has many beautiful love tunes and some real toe-tapping fun ones.
This is great, I didn't like country until I hit my thirties, hardcore rock it was. Then I listened to George Jones love that guy! Now I have to have my dose of country with rock, it's all in the melody and rhythm.Oh maybe where u live as well ❤
I've never been a big fan of country music but I can appreciate the best performances of all genres. I'm glad you did Hank Williams Sr in another reaction. Patsy Cline's, "Crazy," is a classic country/bluesy song to check out.
Solid list, honestly. I've been following you for a while now and selfishly, I do wish you did more HARDY reactions but I get that your reactions are mostly through donations now since RUclips doesn't allow you to monetize these videos. Always look forward to your uploads regardless
Darius is one of those singers that can sing anything and make it his own tom Jones is another he's fearless did Prince's your kiss in his 70's still preforming.
For stories you need to check out Marty Robbins, both the country side,My Woman My Woman My Wife and Devil Woman. Also check out the western side, El Paso, Big Iron, R Shorty etc.
Have you lisyened yo Trace Adkins, "Songs About Me"? It's what you were saying about learning to like country. By the way, congratulations on your citizenship, we're glad you're here!
You have great taste in country music -- the wonderful thing is - it's ALL great! Ton's of truly great artists - some are no longer here and some we enjoy over and over again! George Strait is certainly in my top 10! As is Reba and Dolly and I could go on and on!
I'm SOOOOOO HAPPY you found Jamey Johnston!!!!! The first time I ever heard "In Color" I got chills. I still do every time I hear it or watch the video. Since you like Trace Adkins, please, PLEASE react to his song "Muddy Water". I've checked for YEARS (the last time I looked was 2 days ago), and still LITERALLY NO ONE has ever reacted to this song. I love that song a lot more than the overplayed "You're Gonna Miss This". Don't get me wrong, it's a great song, but the radio ruined it for me. Even if Sebs doesn't see this, if ANYONE ELSE that does reactions on here sees this, PLEASE feel free to take my suggestion. You would be a pioneer.
Sebs!!! Love the content my brother. I wondered if anyone has sugested for you to listen to Keith Whitley? The story of Keith is quite sad, such a wonderful voice but lost his life to Acohol Poisoning in 1989. He was married to another country singer Lori Morgan. Listen to "Dont Close your Eyes" but really all of his songs were hits, even the ones relased after his death. Also Charlie Pride, another Black Country Artist. Love both of these artist and I think you will love them too! Thanks again, Im right down the road from you in Mesquite NV.
If you want a couple of blow snot funny country songs, play the live performance Toby Keith & Scott Emerik when they sang a song to Willie Nelson about Willie Nelson called I'll Never Smoke Weed With Willie Again. The song Alcohol by Brad Paisley is hilarious as well.
In the 70-80's, I listened to quite a few songs by Alabama (Feels So Right, Roll On, The Closer You Get...) and Ronnie Milsap (Smokey Mountain Rain, It was Almost Like A Song, Day Dreams About Night Things...)
Your top 10 is all guys. Listen to do more oldies country ladies and let’s see if we can’t fix that! The judds-grandpa tell me bout the good ol’ days, Reba McEntire (with Vince Gill) -heart won’t lie, or Kathy Mattea- where’ve you been. There are many, many more… but that’s a good start!
Loved this, new sub! You like Chris Stapleton - then you need to be introduced to Stevie Ray Vaughn or SRV - start with Texas Flood. That will lead you down a wonderful rabbit hole. Honerable mention as the story in the song is great and I just love this artist is Dwight Yokam - a 1000 Miles from Nowhere.
Even though it was the only song of his to get a lot of airplay "If It Weren't For Country Music I'd Go Crazy" by Clinton Gregory is what I would consider a country music anthem.
I love that your top 10 has classic country artist ❤ go check out George Strait , any song really, but my fav is baby blue. Not sure if it's a tribute to his daughter he lost, but it's one of my favorites.
You should react to one of Hardy’s new songs. Both amazing. Quit will have the lyrics you will love and Rockstar has an amazing video and is more fun. I believe his album will drop March. I am super stoked to see him in June for Quit tour. I am with you, he is tops for me as well.
You should listen to Home Free. They are a capella country, but they do many genres. Kenny Rogers even asked them to do a song with him. They will get you to love country music even more.
Good Lord what about all the absolutely fantastic ladies of country? There wouldn’t be country without them! Dolly, Reba, Tammy Wynette, so many new artists too!
Of course everybody's tastes are different and your experiences shape who you are and the songs you like, but I feel like you can easily tell the difference in a list like this between the people who have experienced a large amount of country music and those who have only experienced a small amount of country music. The sample size for each artist can make a HUGE impact on how you feel about them as a whole. I might absolutely love 3 or 4 songs by one artist, but they won't be on a top 10 list because I'm not as big a fan of the rest of their work. And for almost all of the artists, I feel like your sample size is quite small to be making a list like this just yet. I personally feel like it's a bit premature, but maybe consider doing another one further down the line to see if/how it changes over time. Just my two cents for what it's worth. Hopefully you continue to explore the genre and enjoy the journey. God bless and have a great day!
I highly recommend the first black country singer and my mom's personal favorite singer Charlie Pride. Charlie Pride is to country what Nat King Cole was to jazz.
One of the greats!
George Strait, "Amarillo By Morning", "All My Exes Live in Texas", etc..., you should check it out!
Trivia...Amarillo by morning...is a cover by King George...ikr😂
Rest in Peace Toby Keith! You and your music will be truly missed. Sing with the angels Mr. Keith
Can’t believe he died 😢
Glen Campbell for me. Wichita Lineman and Galveston are not only two of the best-written songs of any genre, but Glen's recordings of them are possibly the two best Country songs of all time. Musical magic.

Campbell was a hellofa guitar picker!
I loved the Glen Campbell Good Time Hour. It turned me on to lots of great artists especially John Hartford
Conway Twitty? Would not have guessed that would have been on your list. My favorite Conway Twitty song you have not reacted to: Hello Darlin.
That's my favorite of his, too!!!
HELLO DARLIN ! So many of the videos of this song mess up the beginning. Those first two words, are the song!

Hank Sr, and everything else.

Randy Travis,"He walked on water" is a must. You must look at more of King George, George Strait.

Need to listen to Travis Tritt Anymore (acoustic) and Modern Day Bonnie and Clyde. Lots of soul.
the whole video i was just hoping that hardy would be number one. him and his music has changed my life and i love when others give him the recognition he deserves as well!!! i’ve loved watching you grow to love him
I like 👍 many of the singers on your list.
Don't forget Reba---I'm surprised Sebs, did!!!
So thanks!
Thank you! Its good to see people open themselves up to real music.
You're honesty is so refreshing. This was such a great list of artists. Thank you for this.
Great List! Thanks for sharing this journey with us. Always a ray of sunshine!
I feel like you'd love Drake White's "Makin Me Look Good Again (wedding version)". Would be a good one to watch with Ali
Also check out Keith Whitley & Joe Nichols. I see so many other great artists in the comments.
Oooohhhhĥ, "I love you this much" wowwww hadn't thought of that one in a long time!
Loved Toby Keith . Unfortunately we lost him last night after a valiant fight with cancer. RIP Toby, your music will continueto be your legacy.
I was literally hoping you were picking Hardy as your #1!!! And i was stoked when you said he was 1!! LFG. You have to see him live bro, he’s amazing! And also, TL is amazing(even though you said only season 1 is good, lol)
Wise choices!! Love your content!!
Check out the list of songs that Chris Stapleton has written for other singers! LOL your gonna be a while on that one!!!
I love your list, Sebs. The two things I will say are-- check out some OLDER country music, particularly Charley Pride. He was a black country star in the 1970's. Also-- there are some fabulous women in country music. Don't miss out on that half of the genre. Love your channel!
Yeah, I was bummed that Reba wasn't on his list, cuz he loved her songs !!
You'll enjoy "Troubadour" by George Strait.
Also you need to hear David Allen Cole 's song You Never Even Call Me By My Name.
based on this list, you have a lot of great country artists to hear yet. Almost none of the greats where listed, but that can come over time.
I like the way you think. Your channel is so well done. I get all of your notifications.
Good choices. Have you ever listened to John Michael Montgomery? Especially "The Little Girl", which will tug at your heart. But he also has many beautiful love tunes and some real toe-tapping fun ones.
Wouldn't be my list but a couple on there for sure... nice list!
This is great, I didn't like country until I hit my thirties, hardcore rock it was. Then I listened to George Jones love that guy! Now I have to have my dose of country with rock, it's all in the melody and rhythm.Oh maybe where u live as well ❤
Oh wow, you had me at Randy Travis. 🥰 That's a hella good list!! 👍
I've never been a big fan of country music but I can appreciate the best performances of all genres. I'm glad you did Hank Williams Sr in another reaction. Patsy Cline's, "Crazy," is a classic country/bluesy song to check out.
I cried when I heard "Don't let the Olds Man In." It got me like "Monsters" by James Blunt.
That's a solid list you have. My list would have included Tim Mcgraw, Vince Gill and probably Merle Haggard. Not knocking your choices though.
Charlie Pride of a black country artist who is awesome too. I love Darius Rucker also!
You would be a pioneer.
hey, enjoy music. it brings souls together.
OMG I love Hardy! Wait in the truck hits me hard too
In the 70-80's, I listened to quite a few songs by Alabama (Feels So Right, Roll On, The Closer You Get...) and Ronnie Milsap (Smokey Mountain Rain, It was Almost Like A Song, Day Dreams About Night Things...)
I think you would like the group Home Free. When a man loves a woman and end of the road. They have a lot but these are my favorite.
check out more jamey johnson- living high,
also keith whitley
Your top 10 is all guys. Listen to do more oldies country ladies and let’s see if we can’t fix that! The judds-grandpa tell me bout the good ol’ days, Reba McEntire (with Vince Gill) -heart won’t lie, or Kathy Mattea- where’ve you been. There are many, many more… but that’s a good start!
That's a good list! Peace, Love!!
Please check out more George Strait.
Carrying Your Love with Me, I Saw God Today, The Best Day, so so many more
Loved this, new sub!
This is a pretty solid list. Can’t believe Vince Gill isn’t on it. That just means you need to react to more of his stuff.
I love that your top 10 has classic country artist ❤ go check out George Strait , any song really, but my fav is baby blue. Not sure if it's a tribute to his daughter he lost, but it's one of my favorites.
Great liar, maybe you will make a favorite country women artists list also, that would be enjoyable. Bless you and yours
Good list, George Strait is great!!!
Dolly Parton has written 3000 songs. I will always love you is the best of all time.
She wanted Elvis to Record this song but his manager messed up the deal.
If you like story telling check out Marty Robbins trilogy El Paso Faleena and El Paso city
Good Lord what about all the absolutely fantastic ladies of country? There wouldn’t be country without them! Dolly, Reba, Tammy Wynette, so many new artists too!
Brooks and Dunn, especially their song Believe
