"This song was actually written for Austin. Even though it was written in the sixties..." Truer words, Sir, were never before spoken. Austin absolutely slayed this song. I believe it was Tim who encouraged him to record it and he was not wrong!! Thank you once again for a fabulous reaction and analysis!
Yeah, I recall hearing Tim say somewhere that he'd basically wanted Austin to record this since Austin joined Home Free. But I think the timing, with Austin having gone through a heartbreak, a time of loneliness, and then finding the right woman, made this emotionally more powerful because he understood it deep down.
@@SirHairless It took Tim almost 5 years to convince Austin to sing it THANK YOU TIM 🥰🥰and thank you SirHairless for your fantastic reactions much love and respect from Denmark
This is the best musical analysis of this performance that I've seen. A couple of really good vocal coaches have reviewed it but didn't go into the depth that you did on the background vocals. I'd love to see your analysis of how Home Free treat Brothers in Arms! I think it's better than the original, and it makes me cry every single time. Also Austin singing solo the song Bring Him Home from Les Misérables. Have tissues. It's powerful and emotional.
In a interview right after this was released Tim gave the camera a naughty look and said -- in 9 months lets see how many babies Austin helped make 🥰🤣🥳i didn´t check but my guess A LOT much love and respect from Denmark💌💌
Austin nailed it. He gives himself completely here and also plays very well with the cameras. The great harmonies, deep bass and the unbelievably freaking good beatboxing/vocal percussion/vocal sounds finish it all off for me. I think it sounds perfect because of all the different beautiful voices. I grew up performing Percy Sledge which I already loved. Then came Michael Bolton's performance where I couldn't say it was better. But this one from Home Free certainly is.
Austin was in the studio alone with the sound person and his lady Amberly. The others were each tucked away in a studio corner of their homes in Nashville, Minneapolis, and Los Angeles. And they all sounded great in the sort of re-birth of a classic treasure of a song.
Love to watch your face throughout the reaction, and then your breakdowns are so informative and enjoyable! Thank you so much for another Home Free analysis.
For sure, everyone is blown away by how strongly Austin comes in from the very first note. People’s jaws kind of drop because he’s already off to the races. And of course he never lets up for his entire lead vocal, propelling this to a stand-out rendition of a truly immortal song.
Thanks for your analysis. Austin did a fabulous job of this classic song. Loved Percy Sledge's version, but this was taken to another level. I think it is also better than Michael Bolton's version. And remember this was done during quarantine, so the guys weren't even together. The backing harmonies are great, along with Tim's bass. And Adam's vocal percussion is outstanding. Drummers have often commented on just how realistic his sound is. This is why these guys are my favorite a cappella group.
Love this!!! Austin's wife, Amberly was just on the other side of the camera and he was singing this song to her. It's one of my favorite HF covers - so glad you reacted to this one, Sir! Have you become an official Home Fry yet? We've always got room for one more!! This reaction was good filth, as always! xx
Thanks so very much for your superb (as always) reaction and analysis of this beautiful HF cover. I've "heard" this many times but will "listen" to it differently going forward.

I'd say Austin got his point across, huh!?! Percy really put it out there and made the song "known". Bolton covered it in the 80's and everyone went haywire over it -- yes, it was very good where many thought it was an original. LOL -- Then here comes Austin -- says, Let me show ya this! Loved it! That is not intended as slight to any of the other wonderful professions I have watched, but you sir, are genius/savant level! Thank you so much, I really have learned a lot and throughly enjoy your channel! 🤗❤️
I'm dating myself here but I remember Percy Sledge's original version. Thought it was quite good back then. I will agree Austin does it justice. Great reaction as expected.
I absolutely love your analysis of all these videos!! For me, (even though I love all the vocal groups) I believe their arrangements and chosen chord structures are what makes HF stand out from all the other groups. My favorite songs of theirs regarding harmony and chord structures are: How Great Thou Art, Helplessly Hoping, Bless The Broken Road, Amazed, I Can't Outrun You, and Brother (although the funny and cute video may distract you from the amazing vocals), just to name a few. In How Great Thou Art, the ebb and flow they incorporate, their choices of dissonant notes, and Tim going all over the keyboard is just incredible. Thx so much for doing these.
Austin was in the studio in Nashville, while the rest of the guys were at their homes. Tim had been bugging Austin to do this for a while. rumor has it that Amberly (Austin’s lady from Stargazer Lilies Trilogy) was in the studio while Austin was singing, so Austin could sing to her.
Luv your reactions. I have an amazing ear for music and hear all those different things in the back ground. So now I'm learning from you what pitch, note, or other things are called. Thank you! And of course, Home Free nailed this.

You have the best reactions. So informative. Thank you so much. I love these guys they are incredible. And even when they're live they can knock it out of the park. You can feel Tim's base through your butt on those low notes.
This is such an awesome version of this song. Austin killed this. I am sure Percy would be so very proud. The background singing and beat boxing were par excellence! Love your reaction! ♥

Thank you for the clear and so precise analysis of an extraordinary version of such a timeless song. All your reactions are brilliant, because of your knowledge, sensitivity and passion for music. Thank you Sir! Greetings from Porto.
I always loved the late Percy Sledge's original (not so much Michael Bolton's cover - I thought it rather over-wrought). The writer of the song had been through a bad break-up and Percy sings "I gave you everything I had". Austin's (now wife) Amberly was in the studio (that's who he's looking at) and he sings "I'll give you everything I've got". Great reaction!
You really would enjoy reacting to their version of Trace Adkins "i can't outrun you" the video is one you'd enjoy breaking down. Chance takes the lead & he also directed it as well.
This was such a nice version of this song. If you want another quirky example of their quarrantine songs, check out “Quarrantine”. It’s really funny and very beautifully sung.
Yep! Our boy, Austin, just knocked this cover right outta the park. Always LOVE your reactions!❤ Thank you! Now, you should check out their cover of Need to Breathe's "Brother" & their Collab with Lee Greenwood & the Air Force singing Sargeants, "God Bless the USA". Greenwood is the original artist. As for another original, "Playing with Fire" is smokin' hot!🔥

Your analysis gives me an even greater appreciation and understanding of all the intricacies that go into making this song so moving and the amazing abilities that Home Free has in making their rendition seem so effortless. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge with us.
I very much look forward to you videos. Always makes my days better. Please when you can, analyze home free's version of brother's in arms. Exceptional good filth in that song and great for a Tim fan.
This is one of my favorite HF songs. It's said that Austin had his lady Amberly in studio with him so he was singing for her. I was listening to "Come Along" by PTX the other day and thought you might like that one. It's not in the Avi era so maybe when you get to it.
❤️ I guess we are now officially in Valentine week. Such a classic! Austin’s clear and clean voice is perfect for it. I appreciate his soulfulness and not overusing crazy wild runs. It feels just right to me. Love the sliding notes, again, just right. Thank you SH. 🤗
I enjoy your reactions so much. Im a musician myself, i find myself once again finding more appreciation for a song watching you. You dont even have to say anything to even start off with...watching you, i know know exactly what your catching by those tiny little movements of your face, (an eyebrow lift here, a small cheek wrinkle there, etc) and head...you are obviously hearing the same thing that i am. Your breakdown of the music is so refreshing! I look forward to more of your video reactions!
Is this when I admit that I went to a Michael Bolton Concert?!?! 🤔 No? 😬 okay. 😂 Love this song and now Austin and Home Free can lead the way with it. Austin is spectacular with this song! Not an easy song to do but they do it beautifully! T ✌🏻
I do enjoy your analyses. With this song, particularly, it helped me to understand why I enjoy Home Free's version more than the Percy Sledge version I was dancing to in the late 1960s!
Hello Sir mais uma excelente reação. Fico muito, muito extasiada com sua sensibilidade musical, seu conhecimento, seus primorosos comentários, tudo envolto, com certeza, em muito estudo e dedicação à música. Wowwww ❤❤❤🇧🇷

Sir Hairless Dude, we can always tell when you like something. Your facial expressions give you away. You can tell that you are looking for things to explain so you're concentrating on the words and music but the joy in your eyes and face tells us that you are really enjoying this. Also, like a previous commentor, I don't really understand music theory either but sure do enjoy listening to you explain it. LOL
Austin almost sang his face off in this one! What an amazing high range! Would love for you to check out some of their originals on their Dive Bar Saints album or their So Long Dixie album. Most songs on both albums are originals (some written/co-written by Tim or Austin or both or maybe with other artists). The title track of So Long Dixie even has a 6th person playing guitar beautifully. He’s a long time friend of Tim.
You are completely right. This song is perfect for Austin. As usual, Home Free chose the perfect person to sing the lead. And your analysis is very detailed as well which is why I love them so much more than many others floating around RUclips. The Sounds of Lockdown is a great album. The music is as awesome as ever, despite that most of it was recorded at home and the videos are, too, mostly done by themself at their respective homes. The most complicated home shot video is probably Meet in the Middle. It probably took ages to shoot and then fit everything together.
You're right. It's Austin's song. 😄 He extends, lingers on, many of the notes beyond the original, which gives it even more emotion, I feel! Then took off up into the stratosphere there at the end, which reminded me, a little, of some of Dimash's 'Cherry On Top' ending's. But Dimash's kind of smack you in the face, with 'Wow!', whereas Austin"s just smoothly flowed up and back down so naturally, that our ears say; "Yup! That's how is should end." Good to shout out the Beat Boxer, they often don't get enough cred. The thing I love about these very excellent a capella groups is how individual ego's step aside to ensure each members' talent gets to Shine! 👋👋👋 { You are a very skilled teacher BTW Tailored to this viewer level, and Inviting those so inclined to deep dive and learn more about key compositional elements. }
Tim Foust from Home Free did a song called Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay its another old song, I really think you would like to hear his range. It's as surprising as Geoff C.
Your analysis (... es... what the heck is that in plural?) are brilliant. They make me see the music, not just hear it. It's almost uncanny. In a good way. From now on I have a new post on my bucket list, and that is to hear you analyze a Swedish trio called Dirty Loops. They are three of the best musicians I've ever seen/heard. They have managed to make 'music for musicians' work for the general listener. They combine pop, funk, jazz, fusion and gospel seamlessly, sometimes in the same piece. They play with rhythms and cord progressions until your head spin, but still make it catchy. It's been a musical journey since I found them a couple years ago. I'm guessing your list of requests is a mile long, but please put Dirty Loops on it. Seeing your deep understanding of music, I think you will appreciate what they do. If they don't make it on your list, listen to them in private. Finding them is like finding a pot of musical gold. I would recommend starting with Work Shit Out Next To You Breakdown World On Fire Hit Me Sorry for the rambling. And I promise I won't haunt you should you not complete my bucket list 👻 Thanks!
Thank you so much Ah yes I've received Dirty Loops as a recommendation before - so they're on my (ever-growing) list 🎶 Thank you for not threatening to haunt me
Bought the LOCK-DOWN CD ..... heard this AND LOST MY MIND ... as I recalled my days in Rock N' Roll when Percy Sledge did this .... and I had to down scale the key to handle it .... here Austin Brown goes off on the STRATOSPHERIC High Tenor ... this is a classic ,,,,needs only what these folk have GREAT VOCALS, PRECISION IN HARMONY AND SUPPORT (Background) VOICES are very restrained ... as the song demands ! Phenomenal work here on all points. Love it, GBjj

Crazy good analysis skills. You said all I wanted to say, but much more eloquent.
@@SirHairlessI appreciate you sharing your knowledge and also truly enjoying the music / performances. It’s a wonderful combination 🤘
Makes me blush! Go Austin!! 🥳
If you want to hear Chance in his higher voice, check out Moonshine
I love how much information you give us. And I really love how expressive your face gets when the music is playing.
Thank you for the clear and so precise analysis of an extraordinary version of such a timeless song. All your reactions are brilliant, because of your knowledge, sensitivity and passion for music. Thank you Sir! Greetings from Porto.
Thank you, and greetings to you over there in Portugal!
I’m so glad I found you and subscribed. I’m learning so much from your R & A. Thank you!!
You really would enjoy reacting to their version of Trace Adkins "i can't outrun you" the video is one you'd enjoy breaking down. Chance takes the lead & he also directed it as well.
Austin is a beast!
This was such a nice version of this song. If you want another quirky example of their quarrantine songs, check out “Quarrantine”. It’s really funny and very beautifully sung.
Wonderful analysis -- thank you again for adding your perspective to a great performance.
Love your reaction/analysis of this😊😊
Another fire reaction 🤘
Equal parts educational + enjoyment, thank you.
One 2 songs they did for Valentines for us during covid, the other is I swear.
As always, a great reaction and analysis.
I agree...the chord progressions (plus Tim!!!) will have him on the edge of his seat.
Very enjoyable reaction.
Would love to see your reaction to Floor Jansen and Henk Poort on the show BesteZangers performing Phantom of the Opera
Love this song 🎵 Brings many memories of my parents which are no longer 😢. He did and excellent job 👏
Thank you for this great & interesting analysis. Please continue your journey with Home Free.
Thanks! The Home Free journey is just getting started
This is the only version of this song for me. ❤
Is this when I admit that I went to a Michael Bolton Concert?!?! 🤔 No? 😬 okay. 😂 Love this song and now Austin and Home Free can lead the way with it. Austin is spectacular with this song! Not an easy song to do but they do it beautifully! T ✌🏻
The world needs Sir Hairless reacting to Voctave!!!! GREAT MOVIE MEDLEY!! Disney Love Medley, Disney Princess Medley
ONE FOR THE ALGORITHM. CHEERS!
Amazing review - sooo good! Thank you Sir! 👌🙏👏
I do enjoy your analyses. With this song, particularly, it helped me to understand why I enjoy Home Free's version more than the Percy Sledge version I was dancing to in the late 1960s!
GH is from Brazil, where he is a very well know nation treasure.
Always find your analysis so interesting!
#AustinBrown #HomeFree #SirHairless great analysis ❤ thank you ❤
Hello Sir mais uma excelente reação. Fico muito, muito extasiada com sua sensibilidade musical, seu conhecimento, seus primorosos comentários, tudo envolto, com certeza, em muito estudo e dedicação à música. Wowwww ❤❤❤🇧🇷
While I love all of Hone Free’s music, this beautiful ballad is my all time favorite. Love your in depth reviews Sir!
As always, great review. I love watching your reaction, your facial expressions say it all...
Increiblemente bello tema en la época que se haga y quien lo haga. Gracias por otra master class. un abrazo de madre como siempre, desde Argentina
Tim Faust has his version on his channel as well and
I think you should listen to Austin and Rob sing Nessun Dorma it is on Austin Brown's channel instead of Homefree's
Your ear and analysis on these songs really impresses me. Thank you. I would love for you to react to #homefree "Brothers In Arms." Thanks in advance.
Yes! I've been waiting for this. 😊
Check out Austin's solo of Bring him Home from Les Mis. It will blow you away.
LOL
I always learn so much from your reactions… Thank you 😊
Great reaction!
This song is made for Austin. He kills this song. ❤️❤️❤️
Always love your reactions/ analyses 😄
Would LOVE to see you do Home Free’s version of “How great thou art”!
You're right. It's Austin's song. 😄 He extends, lingers on, many of the notes beyond the original, which gives it even more emotion, I feel! Then took off up into the stratosphere there at the end, which reminded me, a little, of some of Dimash's 'Cherry On Top' ending's. But Dimash's kind of smack you in the face, with 'Wow!', whereas Austin"s just smoothly flowed up and back down so naturally, that our ears say; "Yup! That's how is should end."
Good to shout out the Beat Boxer, they often don't get enough cred. The thing I love about these very excellent a capella groups is how individual ego's step aside to ensure each members' talent gets to Shine! 👋👋👋 { You are a very skilled teacher BTW Tailored to this viewer level, and Inviting those so inclined to deep dive and learn more about key compositional elements. }
Very well-said And thank you so much!
I would recommend starting with
Work Shit Out
Next To You
Breakdown
World On Fire
Hit Me
Sorry for the rambling. And I promise I won't haunt you should you not complete my bucket list 👻
Thanks!
Thank you so much
Ah yes I've received Dirty Loops as a recommendation before - so they're on my (ever-growing) list 🎶 Thank you for not threatening to haunt me
Bought the LOCK-DOWN CD ..... heard this AND LOST MY MIND ... as I recalled my days in Rock N' Roll when Percy Sledge did this .... and I had to down scale the key to handle it .... here Austin Brown goes off on the STRATOSPHERIC High Tenor ... this is a classic ,,,,needs only what these folk have GREAT VOCALS, PRECISION IN HARMONY AND SUPPORT (Background) VOICES are very restrained ... as the song demands ! Phenomenal work here on all points. Love it, GBjj
Wow Austin did a beautiful rendition ❤ Lovely reaction! 4:53 4:54
Once again, I LOVE your musical breakdowns!
Great reaction, as usual. I'd love to see you react to Austin sing "Bring Him Home" from Les Miserables. He really gets to show off his training. One of the best versions of the song I've ever heard. ❤️
Sea Shanty Medley and Flowers on the Wall are a couple more great quarantine songs that they did.
