Way to go, Brad! I, too, was "a corpsman in the Navy." I had boot camp in San Diego, Company 353 that graduated in November 1970. After getting married during boot camp leave, I went to HCS at hospital corps school, San Diego. Graduated in company 25-71 in April 1971. I was a Land Rover nut when I went into the Navy at the age of 22, and remained a Land Rover nut for many years thereafter. (Tried to get Lee Iacocca's Chrysler to purchase Land Rover Limited before they decided to buy AMC/Jeep.) These days I drive a JK Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. My Ruby, a factory order, was seven years old in April. To date no oil leaks. No cracked exhaust manifolds. No broken rear half shafts, no broken speedometers, speedo cables, etc. From watching you in a number of your videos, I figured you were either active duty or former military. I'd guessed "either Marine or Navy." Thank you for your service, Brad! And for your Trail Recon videos.
All of your videos are great Brad, but this is likely one of your best to date. Great editing, great music, and great explanation and review along the way. Congrats on the Gladiator. Can't wait to see the evolution. Nice job to Josh too.
I am now a proud owner of a Firecracker Rad Gladiator Rubicon! Automatic, Black Freedom Tops, Leather, Customer Preferred Package 24R, Cold weather group, LED lighting, 8.4" Premium audi with Navigation, Adaptive Cruise control, Auxiliary Switch group, Cargo mgmt with Trail rail system, Roll up Tonneau cover, remote keyless entry and body colored Fender Flares! I reside in Florida so we don't have wide open expanses of mountain trail riding like you guys so I'm living vicariously through your videos!! We do have some good forest trail rides, lot's of mud areas and some beaches but nothing like out west. Looking forward to watching your build on your Gladiator!
I heard Mel from EVO had said you can buy a JL and fold down the back seats because that equates to the same bed length. There is the bed liner backing you can buy that bolts onto the back seat and the inside of a JL trunk which keeps anything you haul from tearing up the fabric.
@ピーチャン Mel is a guy. He works at EVO (Off Road Evolution. Actually owns the company) He said "you can buy a JL and fold down the back seats because that equates to the same bed length." 5ft.
Nothing better than waking up to this. Makes my morning coffee taste SO much better. I promised myself I'd wait for the Diesel specs, but your videos are making that a tough one to keep. Brad, you going to let us know what this long trip is you're prepping for?
The 37s look just about right. Personally, I think Jeeps should come with 35s stock. As an afterthought, skipping the suspension lift and putting portal axles on there with 37s would give you even more clearance. Wonder if anyone's done that yet with one of these. Thanks for posting this. Really enjoyed it.
You’re one of the few RUclipsrs that do the voice overlay (probably not correct technical term) but I sometimes feel like I’m watching a nature show on The Science and Discovery Channel, learning how the rare oculus spider in Tanzania mates, but it’s very professional. Nice videos Brad. I have a black JLU with Fuel Anza Bronze wheels so I was loving Josh’s JT. Both are great. Thanks for the weekly entertainment. We love living vicariously through you guys.
I'm about one month into my first Jeep. I got a super deal on a '17 Wrangler Sport with less than 13,500 miles. The upgrades that are available for Jeep's is just mind blowing. I'm glad I found your channel to see what options are out there. I've already purchased several like the 67 Degrees phone mount and the Bartact fire extinguisher holder, to name a few. Love the channel.
Great video I think it's awesome that you let your son drive and teach him the ropes can't wait to get on the trail maybe ride with you guys if I get a chance
MCPO: Outstanding video, some great area shots. You have a very nice NEW vehicle and I do understand how you want to get it out in the "weeds", but wow it takes more than I have to go out into the "weeds" with that NEW ride....I guess thats why I use "shoe leather" when I'm out in the desert. Well done MCPO
I'm not a Jeep guy (we have Cruises) but you're trucks look great especially with a mild lift and 37's , I'm thinking a Alu Cab camper or shell would do great as a overland rig on the trucks. Always enjoy the videos thanks.
Great video. Love the angles of the break over and departure angles and differences between the two rigs. I'm really liking the Gladiator on 37's. Two new Gladiators with temp plates hitting the trail...love it. "Jeep" needs to use some of your footage for a great commercial.
Like that you are taking it out on the trails and not afraid to scrape it. Although I did cringe when you slid over the rocks!! Can’t wait to see what you put down as a blueprint for the build!!
Great video. I’m glad to see actual jeepers taking these things on a trail vs just car reviewers. I don’t know if I could replace my jk. But these things are making that harder for me.
“Of course, I could have taken the three point turn...” No, no you couldn’t....and more power to you for making that turn look awesome! Great work man!
I’m not a Gladiator fan, don’t hate it, I just don’t think I need one. With that said, I will watch any video you put out. You make great stuff. Who knows, with a little of your magic, the Gladiator might grow on me and influence me to buy one. Keep it up!
The lift and tires make Josh's jeep look just that much bigger. I can see how even a small lift and some 35-37 inch tires can make a big difference for the gladiator
Good stuff my friend,. I knew it wouldn't take you long to get her out on the trails, and I was right. Fun to see how well she did all stock. Going to be a fun year. Keep up the fun videos my friend and have a blessed week. Dale
Great job man..I’m just waiting my new ford ranger raptor to come and start the modifications for an overland vehicle.. so I believe your videos of building this gladiator will help me a lot with my new pick up..keep it up..cheers from Greece 👏🏻
This is the BEFORE - Wait until you see the AFTER. I just got mine with the same REDLANDS license plate frame. Going wheelin in a few days. Nothing crazy. Focusing more on paying it off then I'm going to make some upgrades.
Thanks for the video, Your detailed information is good and consistent with the voice over nobody that has a JT explained the plus, button this is awesome thanks again ,Virginia
Brad, Great video, it was very helpful to see the side by side compare with Josh's lifted Jeep. Seems like you should do a family event with JKU JL Gladiator and xJ Even if it was just a Day Trip, just to see your full collection out in a row!
Thanks for putting this video together Brad. I appreciate your experience and attention to detail on the trail in regards to the Gladiator's wheelbase and tire placement. I ordered a Gladiator a few months ago but cancelled after watching trail videos like this. I'd have to build it too big to for use as a daily driver if I want to continue tackling the trails I'm used to. In the meantime In can live vicariously through your build. That said, I still have a new rig in the works. Hopefully I'll see you on the trail someday. Cheers!
Yep the Gladiator is something entirely different than the wrangle. 4 to 6 inch lifts is where you'll need to be for real serous rock crawling. I'm guessing you will see a lot of 5 to 6 inch suspensions, and 40 to 42 inch tires. I know mine will be on at least 42s.
Hmmm... looking forward to seeing the choice for a lift. Pretty certain Brad will choose the 37” tires, but with the additional weight that he will carry with the bed when he decides to outfit it will be interesting. Air bags, maybe spring overs, something to compensate the extra weight. I am eager to see what rack he selects to hold his tent. Then what to get all the gear from the deep end of his new truck bed? Bed slider? So many choices.
Great video Brad. As one Sailor to another, I say BZ!!I ordered my JT from the factory on 02MAY2019 (wanted the 6 speed MT) and it is finally built and ready to ship. Should be here at the end of the month. First thing she is getting is that 2" Mopar lift and 37's. I got the black just like Josh but the red has grown on me. Can't wait... Fair Winds and Following Seas.
So far so good. I'm not a fan of off road trucks, but this is looking good. I will be looking forward to the next challenges that you put the Gladiator through.
Great real world test scenario, makes me happy I stuck with the JKU for Offroad and overland and leave the towing work to my F250...also seems like there’s quite a bit of fan noise as experienced in the JL’s However great rigs, can’t wait to see what you do with her
I saw one of the prototypes... an extended cab.....perfect in my mind....and so I hear they won't be offering that....what a shame..I'd have one today if so.......it looked awesome. Thanks for the vid.
Most definitely serving in the military does condition us to plan ahead and to prepare ourselves for whatever contingencies come our way. Thanks for your service, Bro!
Nice can wait to go down there to San Diego and do trails with you guys just need to get my trailer and pick up wish is coming soon ,nice job and be safe

That black gladi with the lift looks siiiiiiiiiiicccckkkkk
I really wish they had a two door variant. I would buy it right away!
I heard Mel from EVO had said you can buy a JL and fold down the back seats because that equates to the same bed length. There is the bed liner backing you can buy that bolts onto the back seat and the inside of a JL trunk which keeps anything you haul from tearing up the fabric.
There is a kit to turn a jk into a scrambler but haven't seen one for the jl yet
@ピーチャン Mel is a guy. He works at EVO (Off Road Evolution. Actually owns the company) He said "you can buy a JL and fold down the back seats because that equates to the same bed length." 5ft.
There is a 2door
Won’t be surprised if they come out with one in a few years. I bet if the diesel engine sells well they will do a two door.
Nothing better than waking up to this. Makes my morning coffee taste SO much better. I promised myself I'd wait for the Diesel specs, but your videos are making that a tough one to keep. Brad, you going to let us know what this long trip is you're prepping for?
Great video! I’m enjoying stock version videos while I recover from the purchase!
Well makes me miss my Jeep even more and this has set my mind even more that I want a Gladiator
I’m a Tacoma guy but I can’t wait to see more of the gladiator on the trail and how you build it out. Great video Brad 🤙🏻
37’s and lift look Much Better than stock. Btw, high and tight looks great 🤪
The lift and bigger tires make the Gladiator look SHARP!
Man oh man nice rigs! Will definitely make a great overland warrior

That BLACK JT with those gold Methods/KM3s combo looks SO SO FINE! CLASSY!

Jeep: 137 inch wheel base...we better put skid plates everywhere.
Best Gladiator content on RUclips thus far. Nice!
Way to go Doc! Always bring the first aide. So glad you made this video, it’s been awhile since I saw a trail run from the ground up.
I'm about one month into my first Jeep. I got a super deal on a '17 Wrangler Sport with less than 13,500 miles. The upgrades that are available for Jeep's is just mind blowing. Beautiful weather! Deserts are so beautiful if people would just spend time in them and what better way than overlanding in a new Jeep!
Nice to see how you enjoy driving your brand new Jeep Gladiator. Congrats again Brad.
Great video I think it's awesome that you let your son drive and teach him the ropes can't wait to get on the trail maybe ride with you guys if I get a chance

That was fun to watch!!! Thank you Brad!
I'm not a Jeep guy (we have Cruises) but you're trucks look great especially with a mild lift and 37's , I'm thinking a Alu Cab camper or shell would do great as a overland rig on the trucks. Always enjoy the videos thanks.
Thank you for serving our country! 🇺🇸
Cant wait to see what you do to this truck. Not a fan of the stock look they have, but some of the modifications people are doing are incredible
Great video. Love the angles of the break over and departure angles and differences between the two rigs. I'm really liking the Gladiator on 37's. Two new Gladiators with temp plates hitting the trail...love it. "Jeep" needs to use some of your footage for a great commercial.
I didn’t like the Jeep pickup........ until I watched this. Can’t wait to see the build up.
Like that you are taking it out on the trails and not afraid to scrape it. Although I did cringe when you slid over the rocks!! Can’t wait to see what you put down as a blueprint for the build!!
We really appreciate your in-depth analysis on the Gladiator.. We’re considering purchasing a Gladiator Rubicon in the near future.
I'm so jealous!! It must be so fun to roll around this great rig!
Nice gladiator... I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little jealous... awesome color too... can’t wait for more videos
Good video Brad, They both performed well out there. That's a nice trail to start them out on.
Congrats on the new Gladiator can't wait to see future modifications
Great video.
I’m glad to see actual jeepers taking these things on a trail vs just car reviewers.
I don’t know if I could replace my jk. But these things are making that harder for me.
Great video as usual looks like you guys had a great time on the trail
Definitely think when you get new tires, stick with the Falken Wildpeak M/T. Such a great tire off road and smooth on road with very little noise.
Great video! Thanks for the insight on the Gladiator. As a truck guy and a Jeep guy, I love them both.
Great video! Can’t wait to see more.
Brad, great video. It's great to see a video comparing the stock height vs a 2" lift and 37s. I cant wait to see what lift and tire you go with.
Love your videos! Can’t get enough of them. Can’t wait for the mods 😎💪🏻
G R I N D !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Truly appreciate the vids you do. Go ARMY !!!!
“Of course, I could have taken the three point turn...”
No, no you couldn’t....and more power to you for making that turn look awesome!
Great work man!
Great video as always and good comparison between stock and modified...
Can’t wait to see these in Aus 👌🏽
I’m not a Gladiator fan, don’t hate it, I just don’t think I need one. With that said, I will watch any video you put out. You make great stuff. Who knows, with a little of your magic, the Gladiator might grow on me and influence me to buy one. Keep it up!
I'm so envious right but in a good way, this is my dream vehicle... Thanks for showing it's maneuverability...
That's a killer wheelbase. I'd go with a 4" lift and 40s for sure. I bet it would look so sick too!
bowjangles510 check out the EVO gladiator videos on here. They’ll be setting up my diesel gladiator when I get it
Can not wait to see as I believe it will be a great overlanding vehicle for me
I Love the black with those rims 😍👍🏽
That thing looks sooo good in black
The lift and tires make Josh's jeep look just that much bigger. I can see how even a small lift and some 35-37 inch tires can make a big difference for the gladiator
Gladitor looks amazing all blacked out.
You are living the American dream buddy.
OORAH Devil Doc! Semper Fi and Can Do
Good stuff my friend,. I knew it wouldn't take you long to get her out on the trails, and I was right. Fun to see how well she did all stock. Going to be a fun year. Keep up the fun videos my friend and have a blessed week.
Dale
Quite impressive right out of the box.
Great job man..I’m just waiting my new ford ranger raptor to come and start the modifications for an overland vehicle.. so I believe your videos of building this gladiator will help me a lot with my new pick up..keep it up..cheers from Greece 👏🏻

Wishing you the best with the new Gladiator
Thanks Brad for your videos. Was in the NAVY too !! - CM2 Seabee. Got my Launch Edition in October 3.
This is great. Can’t wait till they arrive in Nee Zealand if they ever do, going to buy one in a couple years if so!
Thanks for putting this video together Brad. I appreciate your experience and attention to detail on the trail in regards to the Gladiator's wheelbase and tire placement. Can't wait to see what you have in store for a new rig!
Who let Ron Swanson in this video. JK. But Ron Swanson WOULD drive a massive Gladiator.
Nice video!
Can you do a video on exactly what first aid stuff you carry and why?
Nice truck. Lucky man with three cool Jeeps!
Now that’s how you break in a first review 👍🏼 Great Job Brad
Another great video Brad!
Awesome happy to hear good feedback!
Can’t wait to see what you do to this!
As a Marine I just wanna say thanks Doc!
Thank you for your service!
Like how you got to it , longer wheelbase has had more advantages than disadvantages for me nice choice of rig cant wait to see whats next😎
Stunning vehicle, super congrats!

Watched till the end. Still waiting for the part with a trail.
Cool to see on trail..
Looking to order one .Great video.
Nice Brad, looking very good. I can't wait to get my Gladiator out on the trail as well.

Really anxious to see what you do with that thing. I assume it's going to be more of an overland rig.
Love the JT wheeling! Looking forward to the build!
So far so good. I'm not a fan of off road trucks, but this is looking good. I will be looking forward to the next challenges that you put the Gladiator through.
Great video. I really liked it. Not too much talking and just a lot of off roading.
Great real world test scenario, makes me happy I stuck with the JKU for Offroad and overland and leave the towing work to my F250...also seems like there’s quite a bit of fan noise as experienced in the JL’s
However great rigs, can’t wait to see what you do with her
Great vid! And thank you for your service
You should do a "how to trail map" video.
You didnt mention it, but Hill descent control works amazing for those downhill sections.
I saw one of the prototypes... an extended cab.....perfect in my mind....and so I hear they won't be offering that....what a shame..I'd have one today if so.......it looked awesome. Thanks for the vid.
I’d like to see you take your wife’s 2 door on that trail.
But would she like it? LOL
knightwing4 yeah definitely, wonder if that will ever happen
I think you can regulate the speed on the decent controll with the shifter in offroad+.. Cant wait too see more of Amelia..
Be interested in whats in the 72 hour survival pack.
dang i was a combat medic in the army. just gained so much respect for you.
Looking good out there man ! cant wait to see what you change first
great review as usual, looks like a Humvee in certain shots.. good lookin Jeep
Not in those flex situations, that's for sure.
I see a fantastic expedition vehicle in your future!
Me too!
I love how you’re so organized (as-far-as gear). Just like me. Must be the military in us. Lol
Most definitely serving in the military does condition us to plan ahead and to prepare ourselves for whatever contingencies come our way. Thanks for your service, Bro!
Yep.
Nice can wait to go down there to San Diego and do trails with you guys just need to get my trailer and pick up wish is coming soon ,nice job and be safe
