Great review, thank you sir! FYI, a computer version of this was developed by Slitherine, and is available on Steam. It’s single player only, where you play the French against the AI Allies. The follow up that covers the American Civil War is also on Steam.
Eric, your review was so good that I sought out a copy of the game. I was able to find one on Amazon that comes from a game retailer in Ottawa, saving me the high international mailing costs. Victory and Glory will be my third Napoleonic grand operational game, the others being Age of Napoleon from Phlanx and John Prados's Beyond Waterloo.
Cool. I think you will like it. As you know, I don't play many card driven games. This one was fun, easy to learn, and I enjoyed the use of the historic events on the cards. I also recently acquired Coalitions. I haven't read the rules yet, but it looks similar.
This a game that has an accurate and attractive map of the outline of the European continent. The map also seems to display national and regional borders as coherently as possible, considering the constant change in boundaries that occurred from 1792 to 1815.
Love this game. Only played it solo. I wish the map was a lot smaller though. It feels a bit overproduced in that regard. Overall it is a feast for the eye though. The videogame which I played a lot on steam is probably superior.
Yes, I believe the map is showing the situation just before the final partition of Poland between the Prussians, Russians and Austrians. Of course, the Duchy of Warsaw is a revival of Poland following the Treaty of Tilsit in 1807.
A huge map for a little game. Overproduced. Something that could have been a blast and then was transformed into a two player tug of war war. Really dissapointed...taking dust in my airmchair
@@elcid894 I agree the map is bigger than it needs to be. My understanding was that an earlier version of the game used miniatures, hence the need for larger spaces. My friends and I still had fun playing it.

Your welcome. Thanks for letting me know about the program on Steam. I'll have to check that out.

Hi William. Yes, the map is a fair representation, all things considered.
My favorite strategy 2player game of time period is Napoleon Against Europe which is CDG from Hexasim Games (french company).
Sounds good. I will have to check that out. Thanks for sharing.
I was never a fan of the color palette of the seas. I felt that I did not need ships to cross these areas but camels.
Lol. I hadn't really thought about that.
Empires in Arms does this pretty darn well, too.
I think that EiA does this in a much more detailed way. Been a few decades since last time I play EiA.
Love this game. Only played it solo.

I thought the map was too large for the cardboard pieces. Still a fun and quick game! I will have to look into getting a copy of the computer game.
thank you
Your welcome!
When i look at that map and see that Austria is neighbouring Russia.. :))) and a lot of countrys missing from the map.. :))))
