    I have a question about turmeric, I have been using it for a long time and it really helps for my knee pain but I heard recently that it’s not good for your gut, using it long-term. That it can cause stomach issues. What would you say?

    • @rheumatologistoncall
      @rheumatologistoncall  Год назад +12

      Turmeric is a commonly used spice in many cuisines and is known for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It contains a compound called curcumin, which has been studied for its potential health benefits.
      While turmeric can be beneficial for reducing knee pain, as you have experienced, some studies suggest that long-term use of high doses of turmeric can cause gastrointestinal issues such as nausea, diarrhea, and indigestion. This is because turmeric can increase the production of stomach acid, which can irritate the lining of the stomach and cause discomfort.
      It's important to note that the research on the long-term effects of turmeric is still limited, and more studies are needed to fully understand its potential benefits and risks. However, if you are experiencing stomach issues or have concerns about the long-term use of turmeric, it's always a good idea to talk to your healthcare provider to discuss your individual situation and determine if turmeric is the right choice for you.
      In general, consuming turmeric in moderate amounts as part of a balanced diet is unlikely to cause any harm, and it may offer health benefits. If you are interested in using turmeric for its potential health benefits, you may want to consider incorporating it into your diet in small amounts, rather than taking high doses of supplements over an extended period of time.

      I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing pain behind your knees. It's important to understand the cause of the pain in order to determine the appropriate treatment. There are several possible reasons for pain behind the knees, including injuries, strains, arthritis, and other medical conditions.
      I would recommend that you make an appointment to see a healthcare provider who can assess your condition and provide a proper diagnosis. They may recommend physical therapy, medications, or other treatments depending on the underlying cause of the pain.
      In the meantime, you may find relief by applying ice or heat to the affected area, taking over-the-counter pain medications, and avoiding activities that exacerbate the pain. Gentle stretching exercises may also be helpful, but it's important to avoid any movements that cause pain or discomfort.
      I hope you find relief from your pain soon. Take care and God bless you too.

You also also spoken of Vitamin D, collagen, and fish oil. What were the other three nutritional supplements that were shown to be useful in that meta analysis? I am so curious!
