Julia, you are so lovely when you laugh at your stuck-on pieces! LOVE the way you laugh and just take the mistakes as they happen and of course learn from them. Absolutely LOVE your coiled and layered bowls...they are beyond beautiful. and the variations in the clay is outstanding! The pumpkins are amazing as well! Thanks, your friend from Holmdel, NJ, USA ;-)
Thankyou so much for your kind comments Marie 😊 I try to remember that it is just clay and I am just experimenting and not to take it too seriously. (I did have a sphere blow up in the community kiln this week and that was not so easy to laugh at 😅 ) I am so loving making the coil bowls I think they may well become my signature pieces, there is something so mindful about rolling the coils. Thankyou so much for supporting me and my channel and coming along for the pottery journey my friend ❤️
The coil bowl that you made for your friend is stunning!!! I love the color of the clay on the outside, and those glasses on the inside are gorgeous!!❤
Oh Julia ❤ Firstly it was so wonderful to see your new studio space. Its perfect, complete with singing neighbour! Your happy place for more creativity. It must feel so wonderful to fire in your own kiln again! But most of all I missed your refreshing reactions opening your own kiln. Oh you made me smile! That moment of wow, followed by, oh no! Weve all had it! Your coiled bowls have some gorgous glaze effects and how crazy the clay being different tones is. I can see why coiling has become addictive. It was so good to have you back Julia, with your own kiln, complete with your giggle, excitement and enthusiasm. Your sons jug was fab!!! So sorry about that one, but oh your chuckle!!!❤❤❤ Cant wait for your next opening! Loved it!
Hi Jeanette, thankyuo so much for your kind comments. I do lovey little space and you are right it was so wonderful to fire my own kiln again. To have full control and to feel like a potter again. I was pleased with the results over all and everything was so shiny which just made me feel so happy 😄 I took it all so seriously in the beginning but really like the letting go of it all and just being fun. You are right coiling is addictive for me, it is so mindful and therapeutic it almost feels like meditation especially if I play holistic music too. Thankyou for your support my friend will have to have a catch up ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Those coil bowls are stunning Julia, especially the purple one at the end. Great to see your new studio space, very nicely laid out and keeps everything together. Haven’t managed another firing yet, I’ve almost got enough to run another bisque firing, lots more cookies in different sizes and a load of stilts to try out.
hi Julia, what a nice collection of the coil bowls. my favorite is the purple and i usually shy away from that color, but you have nailed it to my liking. Jacob's small pitcher is such a nice form, the first thing i ever made was of a similar shape yet larger and more squarish, unfortunately it got blown up in a community kiln. very nice well-organized studio. you inspired me to do 4 scarabs and now trying coil bowls. All very pretty and especially the larger pot in black and white stripes! thanks, mucho:)
Hi Bill, lovely to hear from you. Nice yo hear that you are trying out coil bowls, scarabs too, shame you can't send a pic as I would love to see them😊
Hi Michelle, you can use a bowl just spray with pam or use saran wrap, my friend at my pottery group wanted to do one after seeing mine and that is what she used. You can also make a mould with clay in a bowl then bisque it and use that as a mould. Thankyou for your kind comments 😊
Hey Julia, how fantastic you're in your studio! Oh what a great assortment of pots and glaze combos. love Jacobs jug and I do hope you can save it? Your beautiful coil bowls are fantastic and what a lucky friend you have who's going to get the big turquoise bowl for her birthday. so glad you're back making pottery from home and videos as I love watching and listening to your Geordie accent. Happy potting my friend and stay well xoxo
Hi my wonderful friend thankyou for your kind words 💖 I managed to save his jug kind of it has some cookie on the bottom still. Managed to separate the fused pumpkins too they have just a little glaze bruise from the kiss they had. I hope Angela likes her bowl 🙏 😊
I am sooo excited to see you’re back!! The coil bowls are outstanding!!! Love them!! Omg I am laughing sooo hard!! Your neighbor sounds like he’s putting on a concert in his shower!! Hahaha. I seriously thought there was a party next door. Lol
Good day in the kiln room. So many times I have used my grinder to take off the offending drips and shards of crap and dabbed on a bit to re-fire. I have gotten so many good results from re-firing. :)
Both of the green coil bowls are wonderful, I like the larger one best. The one on the bottom shelf is lovely too even though you got some slumping, which just adds to its character. Sorry about the pumpkin accident. You might just leave them and make them part of a pile of pumpkins in a bowl. I am glad that you have embraced an attitude that things happen in the kiln with which you may not be happy. You can always make another even though you may have invested a lot of time in a piece. Keep making and I eagerly await your next video!
Ahhh thankyou for your kind words Darrell, I really appreciate them 🙏 I managed to separate the pumpkins and they just had a little bruise of glaze from the kiss they had 😊
Hi Julia, good to see you in your new studio, it looks great 👍🏻 Love the coiled bowls, all really nice but loved the galaxy and the pinky one at the end. The glazes in your kiln are so lovely and shiny ❤ Would you not consider kiln shelf wash? 😉 It’s helped me out on occasions 😅
Hi Lesley, I would think about kiln wash but its5another big job to get it off and I have very little energy and arthritis in my hands so trying not to do hard tasks 😅 thankyou for your kind comments, hope you are ok friend 😊♥️
Hi Allen thankyou for your kind comments 😊 I don't use kiln wash just because it is extra energy that I don't have as a disabled person so it is what it is. I know it would be better for accidents but I just do what I can😊
Beautiful coil pots, I'm busy making some now too, try putting stuck pots in the freezer for a couple of hours and tap with rubber hammer, it work for me regards fr South Africa
Love your little studio. Mine is small as well. The coiled bowls are gorgeous. May i ask where did you find to cookies molds or stamps. They are so cute. .
Hi Mariesara, it had obsidian on the inside and rim and nowhere near the food as I always check for food safety😊 but that is why it ran I think as my palladium last time didn't run.

Love your coil bowls, do you have a video on youtube on how you make them. I do so enjoy your kiln openings very creative things. Thx
Can you please show the molds you coil over or the frosted lemon platter. I don’t know about them. Ok saw what the mold looked like. I’ll look for some.
Hi Denise the frosted lemon platter was just a mould made from a melamine plate, I just make a bisque bowl or plate from items I find in the kitchen or buy them from inexpensive shops or charity shops 😊
Hi Mary, thankyou for your advice, I do have kiln wash but don't use it I'm usually more careful. The idea of trying to getit off the shelves and re do it is something I don't have the energy for hand power for so I don't do it. I'm going to try to be more careful laugh 😄
Hi lovely Michele, thankyou for checking in with me I really appreciate it. I am doing OK at the minute, had my friend from Slovenia here for a month so not been potting really. Except one big sphere that exploded in the community kiln 🤣 I shall get back to doing another video week after next I think and then hopefully starting the tutorials all being well🙏 how are you my friend? 😊
What a fabulous studio! Can I ask what size it is? I’m looking to put one in my garden and it’s hard to visualise how big they are inside with pottery stuff in there!
Hi, it is 10ft x 8ft on the external but once I got insulated and interior boards it is more like 9ft x 7ft so if I did it again I would ask for 10x8 interior measurements just for the extra little bit. But it works for me as the only one using it. I could fit a second person in there to play clay with me though. Good luck with yours, would love to see some pics when it's done 😊
I’ve still got a bit of saving to do but hopefully it won’t be long. Love watching your videos and it’s providing me with my pottery fix in the meantime!
Val from Australia I brought moulds from temp am finding them had to unmould could you show how you use them please. I am 86 could be my fingers Not working to well
Hi Val, I put cornflour in the mould and use a fluffy brush to get it in all the nooks and crannies, then use pretty soft clay press it in and then scrape off any excess, then gently unmould. Hope this helps 😊
Love your big bowls, cloud bowls. I particularly like the two-tone horizontal coil bowl....looks just like wood turning ❤❤❤
Thankyou so much Jan 😊 💓
Wow so many beautiful things darlin ,I love the pug ❤️ 😍 ❤
Thankyou sweetheart 💖 💖 😘
Your set up looks outstanding, loving your work. It’s cool watching how it’s all evolving

Good day in the kiln room. So many times I have used my grinder to take off the offending drips and shards of crap and dabbed on a bit to re-fire. I have gotten so many good results from re-firing. :)
Thankyou Roxie, I haven't done a lot of grinding but don't mind a refire 😊
Both of the green coil bowls are wonderful, I like the larger one best. The one on the bottom shelf is lovely too even though you got some slumping, which just adds to its character. I loved the speckeled unexpected bowl.
Just a thought. You should kiln wash your shelves. It will make clean up easier.
Keep the great videos coming

Hi Laurie, thankyou so much. The cookie mould is from Temu 😊
Hi Julia, lovely pieces! 😍
Be careful though with Palladium, it is not food safe
Hi Mariesara, it had obsidian on the inside and rim and nowhere near the food as I always check for food safety😊 but that is why it ran I think as my palladium last time didn't run.
Love your coil bowls, do you have a video on youtube on how you make them. I do so enjoy your kiln openings very creative things. Thx

You might think about using kiln wash on those shelves, it will save them to some extent, when thigs run and stick.... :/

All your pieces have a great gloss Julia, are you using the standard pre-programmed firing schedules or have you modified them at all?
Derek I use the standard one but dropped it to 1190 😊
Val from Australia
I brought moulds from temp am finding them had to unmould could you show how you use them please.
