- I haven't felt like this in a long time, and the kiln gods did not disappoint.
With so many tests and prototypes within this has so much that could go wrong, and it does. However I still am SUPER happy and excited with the results, the inspiration its given me and the answers on best method and approach to try some again.
The incredible feeling a potter gets when opening a glaze kiln load is something that's so hard to explain to a non potter.
But potters totally "get it". Well, I got bucket loads of that special feeling with this opening, as you might notice from my squeals of delight!
Apologies in advance...
The trick for corks is to make the hole the size of the big end of the cork. After glazing, itfits every time
That last one with sandstone and birch is beautiful! I like it over the swirl <3
That fern is stunning!
you save the best one for last.. Ok love it all.
So happy to see your back....Love your trees and houses and that fern plate... All are so wonderful . Thanks for taking the time to share .
Was just thinking about how I missed your kiln openings!!! So excited to have you back
Wow! Fantastic kiln opening Jeanette, so great to see you❤ love the platter, really love the slip texture effect, the blue one is gorgeous❤ and the Cork against the brown one is so smart.
Great to see you back. ❤❤ the trees - my students love Sea Salt. The glaze chips bottle was really lovely. Love how your brain works deciding how to improve the next time - just like mine! ❤❤❤
Just goegeous!
Great to see you back and never stop the squeals of excitement! Love the wavy slip design, love the fern platter and the chips on the pot came out beautifully 😍great job!
Really like the split screen
FABULOUS! Such an inspiration, as always!
Jeanette, I love your trees! The glaze choice was perfect for those. I can't wait to see them with tea lights inside. And your fern plate is beautiful. Congrats on a great kiln load!
Lovely houses! I love the trees too! The wavy bottles are great too! And I’m loving the natural light in your studio.❤
Awesome kiln opening Jeanette. Beautiful pieces. I prefer the white beards. Have you ever considered using some of your terracotta for planters?
Beautiful ceramics. I think I watched some of your early videos and I have to admit I got annoyed with your bubbly personality. However I think you did really well in this video. Your enthusiasm still shines through, but a little bit more curbed, if that is the right word. And I absolutely love the dual screen your doing. I like it when you can see the pieces really well and the reaction of the maker. Thank you for a wonderful kiln opening 😊
In the mean time, while you figure out the sizing, you can cut the cork down a little :)
I LOVE the fern platter! I’d love to try that! 💜 I would see if the 1st mystery chips bottle sits even on the drips & see if they could just be decorative feet! Gorgeous!!! I might just leave the cookie on the 2nd one like it has a little built in dish to rest on. Your luminary trees are spectacular! How did you get the 3D texture for the branches/snow? I love the Himalayan salt beard! He looks a little like a sweet ginger fellow! 😊 Very successful kiln unloading! So nice to see you Jeanette!
Have you done the mystery chip technique inside a bowl? I imagine they run beautifully down the concave wall of a bowl.
The corks can be cut down. Use a serrated bread knife. Your accent is adorable
