Your placement of the indentations feels like they are growing and there is a breeze. Very painterly. This could not be more timely for me! I'm doing exactly this for 19 vases that have lovely texture from natural elements for a fundraising effort at the end of the month. thanks!!!
Lois, I really enjoyed watching and listening to your process. The vases are works of art, and the client will, no doubt, be thrilled. I don't think you could have achieved more detail any other way. I can see that with a cobalt wash as well, and even a tiny tinge of cobalt in the clear liner.
Love these! I “accidentally” did the same technique using iron oxide on a small carved vase and want to do more, especially after seeing yours. The clear glaze inside was a good choice. Thanks!
Thank you for sharing your artistic process with us. I enjoy using this technique a lot but I find that black under glaze is too bold. I’m still experimenting with colours to enhance textures. Currently I am experimenting with copper, cobalt, and iron washes with clear pearlish glazes on top to soften the effect of the flower impressions. Lovely outcome for you! I can almost smell those beautiful flowers!
I’m trying to find the video where you pressed the flowers into the slab but I can’t seem to find it. I went to a wedding on Friday and grabbed some flowers from the tables to do this with ans I Need to know how you did it. Edit. I found it!! Thanks so much for the idea as well as the vidoes!!!
I think it's the right decision, not to clean the background right back to clay colour the light and dark adds dimension , the flat pieces are lovely too, out of those two, I like the one on the table your working on
These are amazing!!! What color was the underglaze that you used? The title for the video says black. You mentioned blue at the beginning but if you said which color, I missed it! Thank you for your videos!
@joeswampdawghenry most have been given away or sold. Are you wanting to buy something can I make you something ? If you tell me the pots (time and video number) I can check or remake something. This is a hobby and I done make lots of pieces.

Your welcome. I could not of been more surprised or more shocked by the result. But so so happy with the feel to the hand. The texture is amazing.
Love!

Thankyou. I have cobalt. I should have a play. The client wanted no colour and last time I used cobalt I did it too strong. I’ll do some tests.

Thankyou. What really worked was seeing the clay natural with no top coat. It’s the only time I’ve left a clay clear.

The colour is black underglaze.
Beautiful!
Did you put the underglaze on greenware?
No I put on bisque fired.
If you don't want it so stark, you can use a straw color.
