    I learned two clever tricks from you today....the lid covers and placing the coins to count the number of coats! Brilliant! They turned out so nicely too! I think you have found your niche. I love your technique on your bowls....so interesting

      @@ceramicsbyjulia8552 i will contact you when its finished.
      I have no kiln so i use kiln service in a village near by. That lady fires frequently, also for other peoples and her class. But still i have to bring it, pick it up, and so its not finished in a hurry. It all takes time as i have my work too.
      She is firing for me now as i write this. A kiln full. Im so thrilled.....
      When i can pick it up i will bring new glazed in, in that load is also the mystery chips bowl .... ☺

    Thank you Julia for a great video showing how you glaze. I love your kiln openings too. Also watch mud magic. Am now going to watch your friend Jeanette. Can you tell me what you use to mould your clay over . I tried coiling and making dots inside a mould and made a complete mess of it, so then used a plaster mould which was better. My dots were nothing like yours. They look like chocolate buttons. Would love to watch a tutorial on how you make those amazing bowls, I love them. Regards. Jeanette xx

      Thsnkyuo so much for your kind words Jeanette. I do use some plaster moulds but also make my own bisque moulds from clay so that I can make the shapes I want 😊

      Hi Kathy, I am still deciding whether to do a video on the bowls. My first tutorial video for building will be a gluggle jug hopefully in the next week or do and then highland cow possibly after that one. Thankyou for you support 😊

    Great video!! Are the papers you use on your glaze pots what we call wax paper here

    • @ceramicsbyjulia8552
      @ceramicsbyjulia8552  5 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Jan, I think it is called baking paper or parchment paper, baking parchment in the USA, greaseproof or baking paper in the UK. It is the stuff you line cake tins with if baking a cake 😊

    Wondering why my glazes sometimes crack when they are thick…can you tell please….your glazes are thick too….

    • @ceramicsbyjulia8552
      @ceramicsbyjulia8552  5 месяцев назад

      Do you mean before it goes in the kiln or after? Which brand of glazes? For me the only one that cracks before it goes in the kiln is Amaco oatmeal. My glazes aren't thick they should be the consistency of single cream. Oatmeal is the only one that is thick and just use it for decoration so it doesn't matter. If your glazes are too thick you can make them thinner with a little distilled water and a small amount of cmc gum I use a universal underglaze medium which already has the cmc gum in.😊

    • @gopasen1658
      @gopasen1658 5 месяцев назад +1

      Thankyou Julia for your time...I don't have access to Amaco glazes..I use local brand in India and I understand now some of thr glazes flake because it is thick...which doesn't appear to flake during application but as it dries. The cmc gum is only gor underglaze isn't it?
      I love your work and look forward to a tutorial on how you make those dots !!😊

    • @ceramicsbyjulia8552
      @ceramicsbyjulia8552  5 месяцев назад

      @gopasen1658 Hi Gopa, the cmc gum with distilled water is good for thinning down normal glazes as well as for underglazes, you can just use distilled water but sometimes it can unbalance the glaze but it's worth a try on a smaller piece 😊
