30:22 - Never mind communication with Verderin, you need to find someone who can communicate with those beans. If I remember there was a lad called Jack in Honeywood who had the ability to chat to vegetables. As soon as you get back there, you should let Jack and the beans talk.
The best thing about this series is Rob's struggle to progress the story and at the same time play along with the jokes. There is a threshold where he tries to stay focused on the narrative but realises that they are just all over the place and he gives up and tries to joke around .THIS is where you can see him die inside and I love it :)
@@janzy58 Wow, absolutely didn't get that myself actually. It was just funny for me to be able to understand what she said before the people at the table did : )
Yeah, I was like.. that sounds familiar. "Grootvader", and something like "Breng mij naar waar haar wolken zwerven"? The pronunciation was a bit off :-D Funny also, because Ben's surname "van Lier" is Dutch/Belgian (van means from, and Lier is a town near Antwerp, so he is Ben from Lier )
22:36 - When the narrative gets dark and serious, to the point where even Bodger hush-ups, When Baradun knows it's mysterious, Greg gets down to the floor and does push-ups.
The hint of sadistic glee in Rob's eyes when he realised Bodger was considering doing something incredibly stupid was disturbing. That man was half warning Rowan and half daring him to do it. I kinda wish he did.
"Are you SURE??" The DM version of putting your foot down and letting them know crap WILL hit the fan if they say yes. Gotta love Rob's restraint leaving it at that after dealing with so much Bodger crap
I enjoy how Rob takes the D&D modules and weaves them into his narrative that is set in a world created by years of short comedic sketches. Rob you are brilliant and an inspiration to the rest of us.
DM Rob is a real hero here. He takes this world created for short skits and then does his absolute best to not kill the players in order to keep some continuity between the shorts and the D&D series. That takes a fair bit of work...mostly because of the players 🤣 Thanks for all of your hard work folks!❤ P.S. - Rob deserves a 3d printer 😐
To be fair, I'm kinda with Adam. No reason why there wouldn't be another race in D&D that was as tall as giants, if you don't know everything about the game.
I don’t think anyone can truly understand Rowans absolute brilliance to his character in just avoiding death by jumping off an airship, then almost probably killing his entire party by drinking necrotic blood and becoming an unstoppable killing machine, and goes right into wanting to eat a magic bean by convincing himself it will give him exactly 5 health with no science to back it up. It is amazing and wonderful and I love all of it.
Future episode as darkness plagues all of Azarim… Mountain giant: Did you speak the exact words? Bob: Look maybe I didn’t say every tiny syllable, no. But basically I said them. 😂
Wow, Bodger's really committed to coming up with bad decisions this session. I guess the giants could do worse than having Bob as their savior - at least it isn't Bodger.
I love that you can tell how much went into crafting this story, and bodger is over there bodgering it all up. Like, you build a massive airship and cool things and… bodger jumps off! Got a one-off side NPC of obvious zero importance?! What is every detail of their life?! Got a strange blood demon plague that is transmitted by drinking blood? Sure, go get a pint of demon corruption blood!
The thing I'm loving most about where this is going is that what started as a comedic character choice for Bob is now evolving into a major plot point. These guys are so good at storytelling to keep the story this fresh after such a long time.
I know everybody commented on the poem, which was really good, but no comment on the alliteration "worth More than Many Men Might Make in a Month" at 15:07? Was I the only one whom this stood out to?
No wonder Baradun is having bad dreams he wears his circlet to bed! There's no way that can be comfortable! And Bodger making a point that he knows he's dumb but not realising that a giant is a giant is really stupid cracked me up.
This is one of those episodes I feel like I'll need to watch several times with a notebook and one of those investigation boards with red strings connecting everything
Ok but is no one gonna talk about the growing epicness of their intros and outros? It was *perfect* when Baradun said: I'm gonna put the mask on. the editing, the music, it's SO GREAT.
I missed all these when they first came out but now I get to being watch them, but the best part is watching Rob's mental check for dealing with these guys tick up one every once in a while like the wild magic check.
Been watching this series from scratch since 2 weeks ago and am now fully caught up. I have never played DnD nor do i fully understand its rules but it has been a blast watching this as i have been keeling over a few times of laughter.
Rob eloquently tells BOB what to do with the seeds and they ware him down to 'plant a seed on a tall mountain, say stuff in giant and you will be taken to the lady'.
@23:40 To be kind to Baradun, I didn't initially believe her to be a giant. Gods can freely change their size depending on their sailent abilities in 3.5e. There's also spells for increasing sizes and if you enjoy various anime, humanoid forms of elementals might resemble what you described (and it'd be assumed they could change size, and the higher order ones might be larger, etc.). Giants aren't the only giant humanoid races either. @35:28 Am I the only one who thinks "Eat blood-get a dark lord as a paton; Eat magic bean-get a nature being as a patron."
Aah i love how Rob creates a story. It's sometimes Dr Who level of "oh... Oh!". And yes I'm referring to the dreams, in particular Greg's. So subtle, so easy to miss and easy to forget, until you go back, or just HAPPEN to remember
15:15 I mean come on guys, you obviously aren't paying him enough! He comes up with all these ideas, at least use your imagination or give the guy a 3D printer 😂
The urge to say "but Dutch doesn't sound like that" is soooo big as it sounds so eerily close to Dutch. But I can already hear Rob's rant on the behind the screens episode going "IT ISN'T DUTCH, IT IS GIANT" .....so I won't 😅
And it is Cloud Giant at that, very apt given the 'Dutch Mountains' and the 'Flying Dutchman'. But Frost Giant should sound more Swedish, I think. They are tall too.
7:40 I love how there are so many different ways Rob could have narrated that Greg’s sheep ran off, but he sticks with NPC Greg’s own vocabulary of them running “amok” 😂
Frankly speaking all of this series could have been an epic mix of fantasy and comedy incorporated into a TV show. I've never played D&D and the storyline right now is so good, I didn't know you could create something like that while playing a game at a table

I really love how oblivious all of them are. Rob is far more patient than I could possibly be as their DM.
Future episode as darkness plagues all of Azarim…
Mountain giant: Did you speak the exact words?
I'm in love with the phrase "Bodgering it all up". I'm keeping it!
The thing I'm loving most about where this is going is that what started as a comedic character choice for Bob is now evolving into a major plot point. These guys are so good at storytelling to keep the story this fresh after such a long time.
Bodgers self-awareness: Even I know that and I dont know things. This had me laughing so hard.
I know everybody commented on the poem, which was really good, but no comment on the alliteration "worth More than Many Men Might Make in a Month" at 15:07? Was I the only one whom this stood out to?
Glad you noticed my choice of words. No-one else has mentioned it yet and I was woreied it slipped people by!
Nah, that was a perfect precursor to the poem.
@@VivaLaDirtLeagueDnD this is the internet...everything is picked apart and analyzed for even the slightest hint of meaning.
I love how Greg is doing push-ups in the background - I was so focused on Bob I almost missed it
Rob is a damn Legend!! I love how immersive he's made this whole campaign! Man deffinitly deserves a pay increase for this masterpiece!
18:20 Greg doing push-ups made me laugh. :D
Had to come back and rewatch after episode 117, there's probably so much foreshadowing that rob does and it all completely goes over their heads 🤣🤣
I appreciate how Rob can harness the chaotic energy of this group and use it for the plot lol
No wonder Baradun is having bad dreams he wears his circlet to bed! There's no way that can be comfortable! And Bodger making a point that he knows he's dumb but not realising that a giant is a giant is really stupid cracked me up.
I can’t stress enought how impressed I’m with Rob as a DM!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Great fun and I love you guys! Looking forward to the continue of the story👍🏻
Alan is going to get ripped for this role of Greg, now that is a dedicated actor!
By level 20, Greg will just be this wall of meat and muscle; no adventurer will even consider skipping his dialogue.
At least they can reuse the footage from their rip up challenge in the past
Watching VLDL D&D inspired me to get back into D&D after a 2 year break following some bad experiences. Thanks chaps.
Was the bad experiences D&D spelled S&M?
@@IndigoIndustrial Certainly not far off.
When the DM says THAT seriously "are you sure you want to head down this path?" it's a sign. Of what you should not be doing.
I missed all these when they first came out but now I get to being watch them, but the best part is watching Rob's mental check for dealing with these guys tick up one every once in a while like the wild magic check.
Great Episode. I love the level up dreams. and the character moments.
8:46 I love Ben’s curiosity. He noticed the name drop.
The 40 min episodes still feel like the 20 min ones, this series is so good
'I do push ups.' is my new favourite way to cope with drama, confrontation, anxiety, and any awkwardness in my life. Love your work guys.
Corridor Digital just released "the best d&d show on the interent" and although I love them, I just don't see it topping this series
I love their idea of the fully computer generated maps but yeah gimme a green screen and these lunatics anyday.
Yeah, I watched it today. I'm impressed!
@@VivaLaDirtLeagueDnD they have lost their chemistry, hopefully next campaigns will be better
@@shivam7156 pfft. Nah, they're good. Them "without chemistry" is better than anything else out there
Second best ... THIS is the best!
3 episodes from now:
“Klaatu… Barada … Nik*coiugh*”
“There. I’ve said it.”
He dreams about the first makings of Poppy, while also dreaming about getting rid of some poopy.
🤣
”Altostratus cloud” he so wanted to be called out on that. He's showing off his words again.
i noticed that tto, 1st thing i though was, wait wtf kinda cloud is that? hahaha
It sounds like a Stratus Cloud that sings in a higher key than the other clouds.....wait......yeah, I'll go with that.
Been watching this series from scratch since 2 weeks ago and am now fully caught up. I have never played DnD nor do i fully understand its rules but it has been a blast watching this as i have been keeling over a few times of laughter.
I love that after Bodger jumps down and immediately thinks about drinking the cursed blood im just dying from laughing XD
Whoever is doing subtitles is killing it! Love this show, look forward to it every week!
Let's not forget the angel that writes the subtitles for these videos so we don't have to put up with the auto generated nonsense.
Aah i love how Rob creates a story. It's sometimes Dr Who level of "oh... Oh!". And yes I'm referring to the dreams, in particular Greg's. So subtle, so easy to miss and easy to forget, until you go back, or just HAPPEN to remember
“Creepy dreams :(“ lmao once again the CC for these episodes are just the cherry on top 🍒 🍦 💴
Kudos to Rob for writing that prophecy. He's a really bright guy.
I love d&d campaigns that don't take everything seriously like a Shakespearean play 🤣 i would love to see more comedic situations
Man! Rob is such a great writer and storyteller, the dreams are so vivid!
Baradun telling Greg to tie him up may be kinky, but he says it so epicly I can't wait for next week
Bodger: "Even I know that and I don't know things." Best line ever!
I was having the worst day, but hearing Greg exclaim “Biscuits!” Really made me chuckle 😂
It's from a kid's show. It's how a baker swears. It's so cute.
I hope you're having a much better day today.
@@drjabbingtoncrowe3674 That’s very kind, thank you.
Half expected Bodger to lob the hammer at the giant lady's face.
15:15 I mean come on guys, you obviously aren't paying him enough! He comes up with all these ideas, at least use your imagination or give the guy a 3D printer 😂
Im learning from this series that Rob is really really good at herding cats, not only the actual herding bit, but all the patience it requires
The urge to say "but Dutch doesn't sound like that" is soooo big as it sounds so eerily close to Dutch.
But I can already hear Rob's rant on the behind the screens episode going "IT ISN'T DUTCH, IT IS GIANT" .....so I won't 😅
Maar.. Maar.. Maar... Zo klinkt Nederlandrie helemaal nut!
Tbh. Pretty good choice to make giant based off Dutch. With the Dutch ppl beeing one of the tallest ppl on earth.
It's probably Google Translate Dutch.
And it is Cloud Giant at that, very apt given the 'Dutch Mountains' and the 'Flying Dutchman'.
But Frost Giant should sound more Swedish, I think. They are tall too.
Greg doing push-ups in the background at 18:18 is just amazing.
”touched, perhaps, by the darkness” yeah that's Bob.
Big cheers to Rob for being an amazing DM!
We are 64 episodes in so let me ask: who's your favorite character, and why is it Bob?
I was just thinking about how, hands down, he's my absolute favorite.
Yes.
7:40 I love how there are so many different ways Rob could have narrated that Greg’s sheep ran off, but he sticks with NPC Greg’s own vocabulary of them running “amok” 😂
I did think the first thing Bodger would do is asking for a part of that super tall lady (who looks like a Giant) to upgrade his hammer.
#MissedOpportunity
He has to kill the giant though right?
Im surprised Bodger didnt ask if he could transport to his hammers' location instead of vice-versa.
Frankly speaking all of this series could have been an epic mix of fantasy and comedy incorporated into a TV show. I've never played D&D and the storyline right now is so good, I didn't know you could create something like that while playing a game at a table
169-0 highest rated ive seen a video get without a downvote. Proud to be a part of it.
nice
Rob actually gave me chills with the prophecy. You are really great and deserve your title of professional DM.
Damn!!
"If you get me a 3d printer..."
Rob, don't make promises you could regret. It's not so easy to make movable minis...
Well he did say he’ll either make novaboe minis or make hundreds of the same character with different poses and expressions lmao
Genuine LOL at 18:31 when I saw Greg doing pushups in the background
