Thanks for the wonderful info. I just learnt how to tie best knot
You are awesome ....my 6 year old son and I have learned an enormous amount about fishing but most of all we love you. Thank you for being here for us and everybody else who loves watching your videos. I also watched you on tv and remember wishing you were on all day. Now you are!
These are the 3 best fishing knots any angler could learn! Thanks so much for doing this video!
You made that double uni look much easier than the way I was taught.
After watching you I can't imagine tying it any other way. Thanks.
Been watching you since I was a kid. Well done sir.
I will try the loop knot on my Broken Back Rebel plug next time. It makes sense that it will give the plug more movement. I love Roland Martin. I loved waking up on Saturdays as a kid watching him on ESPN in the mornings. I would wait all week to watch his show and maybe pick up a tip or two. Now with him on RUclips my learning curve is so much faster. Every time I listen to him I pick something up. Dude is a legend!
I could watch Roland Martin do an 11:00 minute video about tying a shoestring knot. And love it
I grew up watching him with my brother
With you 100%. Roland is a first class educator that has the knowledge to go with it.
I like the double uni and I’ve never had one fail. Anytime I broke off it was below the knot and that’s good enough for me. It’s also easy to tie . I also use the polymar knot and the snell knot. I like tying the improved clynch knot but I’ve broke off on it too many times. Keep’em coming Roland your still spoken of at Lochraven.
Really appreciate your videos, keep em coming.
Roland has a wonderful way of simplifying knots...clear just what you need to know.
Thank you Mr Roland Martin for all the years of great teaching and this one. I’ve watched you since I was a kid your programs are very entertaining and super informative looking forward to many more teachings. God Bless you and your family.
Fishing with Rolland Martin. The Bassmaster grew up watching you. Much love and respect from Ottawa Canada.
Roland Martin,Bill Dance, and Jimmy Houston....you guys are like "Fishing Gods"!!! To me,I have taught my son, nieces, and nephew to fish from what I've learned from you over the decades, and they have taught many from my(your) expertise.I would like to thank you all for your God given talents, and keeping the sport alive for me and my family/relatives/friends.My fishing skills are impeccable, but I feel like a beginner when you GUYS speak,oh yeah I have a grandchild,I bought him a combo when the test came back positive.Your skills will live on in him and his family also."BE WELL,and GOD BLESS.AND THANK YOU!!!
Been using the first knot for over 10 Years. Best knot ever.
Roland thank you for showing how to tie the double uni knot. I tied it on the first try and couldn't be happier!!!
Thank you Roland I’ve grown up learning from you and appreciate your commitment to educating
Newbie here and love the learning, at times it’s like drinking from a fire hose. Well done. Be efficient and simple. Thank you..
you explain it better than the young bucks. thanks
As usual, Roland gives sound advice. I've learned more from this man in 30+ years than most any other fisherman and love the fact he has a youtube channel !
Thanks for the compliment
The loop knot is new to me, thanx for sharing Roland
Rolands go to.... super glue. I love watching this mans videos can learn a lot
Loop knot looks very efficient! I like it a lot!
Thanks for the knowledge your ABC'S of senko fishing has landing me good quality fish
Roland, I have watched you tie nots several times and I finally did it correctly, thank you so much. Dan72
I learned some valuable things today. Thank you Mr. Martin.
i love your videos and have applied myself to your advice, especially your fondness of the senko. i have been catching lots of cold water bass on it lately. Keep the videos coming
Thank you Roland! Appreciate you insights!
Your videos are very informative! Thank you Mr.Martin!
Thanks for the knot info, been needing to know how it's done. Real nice close up!!!
Thanks Roland. I'm going to try these in Mississippi this weekend!
I really like your loop knot. Quicker and more efficient than the one I've been using.
Thanks for sharing. I've watched a few other videos about the same knots and the way you did made it look simple. Some people got it( teaching skill) some dont. Sir your a natural. Thanks again. Jrambo fishbrain.
Always some good info from Roland.
Can't wait to try your loop knot. Thanks for the instructional video and love the channel.
Thank you Roland for your knowledge!!!
Thanks for the knot lesson Mr Martin.
*Have used the braided line for several years **enjoyable.fishing** recommend both for salmon in the summer as well as walleye through the ice. Can’t beat it for the price!*
This is the second you tube of you and both very informative and easy to follow ,thank you so much. Like your
TV show also
What a great show and thanks for being on RUclips
Use all three of these!! Great knots, great video! Thank You
Palomar NEVER failed me... I love it.... I love it so much I enjoy retying it after so many cast , just to know it's a fresh tied palomar knot😅😅😅
SON!!! Thanks for the video, Always like to see your new ones...
i tried it and it works great. thanks Roland!
Thank's Roland for sharing
Thanks, Martin. I learn from and love your videos.
Use all 3 knots Roland. Thanks for sharing. See you at the secret spot when they open it again .👍👊
I hope they open it soon but I heard it might be 2 years!
Thanks Roland. Your loop knot is different and faster with the overhand loop finish instead of 3-4 winds and then back through the first loop a second time. I'm trying it the next time! Simpler and faster works for me!
thank u Mr Martin great video i use them all now
Good information! Thank you sir!
Best examples I’ve seen of those three knots.
Thanks Roland...I use that Trilene knot so much I have a lot of confidence in it but I sometimes use that palomar for heavier line. The other two in just getting into that loop knot and haven't used braid at all but there is still hope for future usage. Thanks again!
Before we had youtubers and before we had the internet we had Saturday afternoon's with three legends of the fishing World on TV. Welcome to RUclips Roland!! And if you can tell me the other two legends who were on Saturday afternoon Fishing then you are just as much an old fart as i am.
I fished with jimmy Houston today, here in south Florida
@@RolandMartinOutdoors LOL Sir, My dream has been to go fishing with YOU since I was 15 and you tell me your Fishing with another Legend :) Love ya Brother always have always will. God Bless
That was great Roland!!!! thx
Sandiego Jam for tying straight to braid and FG knot for tying leaders to braid. Those are the two knots I use besides the Uni knot to tie to the mono leaders and occasional snell knot. The FG knot will absolutely slide like butter through micro guides and I've never had it fail.
Very Good! I needed that lesson. Thanks!
Man I wish I can fish with you for one day!! Just one an I know I could be the better angler today than I was yesterday.
Holy cow Roland. That was cool !
Roland thank you for making such a good video and I have young folks ask me all the time how i tie my knots, this is a great video, glad you did it';;;;;
Reminds me of the loopty loop and pull, now your shoes are looking cool
Great teacher!
Love your videos your a great teacher I am 66 years old and my dad watched you
So that's how they've been tying their leaders on!Nice vid!👍👌👊
I prefer the Alberto knot for trying leaders. The slimmer profile of the knot allows to slip through the guides easier.
@@DarthRaider520 Good to know! Will look it up!Thanks for the info!
I normally use uni to uni if I need to retie while fishing. Fg knot is actually considered the strongest braid to floro leader but it’s a hassle to tie so I do that the night before a trip at home. Normally they last the day unless you really tear up your leader.
If I'm in my boat or kayak, I'll tie the dbl uni but if I have the time and space, I prefer the FG knot for tying braid to leader...
@@poststalone1496 ha! I didn't see this before my comment...
Well done Son!
gotta luv that glue!!!
Thank you Mr.martin
Cheers Mate!
Very helpful thank you
Thanks Mr Martin
Great vid such details👍👍👍
As a fly fisherman I’ve always leaned towards the blood knot to splice leaders and tippets. Been using the blood knot for braid to mono for bass fishing.
The superglue idea is interesting.
The double uni is stronger
I use a smaller spinning rod with 6lb crappie line for bass. It's a rush and you get to know drag really well...problem is, if you forget to re-tie after a good fight, you'll lose the next one. I did this last weekend. Caught a good size 4-5 pounder off a stump flipping a craw through limbs and to a stump. Good couple minute fight using drag. Next fish was probably twice his size and I lost it because I got excited and didn't check my rig before flipping back out.
I was always taught by older fisherman that the smaller the line, the more loops/twists. Works the same for ropes. More surface/grip area with larger line while smaller lines are more likely to slip over heavy usage cycles.
I used the double uni for a few years until I discovered the Alberto knot, and I’ve switched over. It’s thinner, smaller, just as strong and easier to tie especially when it’s really sunny and windy out there. I’ve never had a uni knot fail, and I’ve never had an Alberto knot fail, but the difference is in the knot size, the Alberto knot casts through the eyelets a fair bit smoother because it’s smaller. This is especially nice with bait casting setups. Of course the FG knot is “the best” but it has to be tied pretty much perfectly otherwise it will fail, and there are many different points at which you can screw it up.
This is valuable information. You just watched it for free.
Thank you so much👍👍👍
Thank you!!!
I use the Palomar on super line, the figure 8 on mono and the Snell on rigs.
Thanks mr. Martin for the tips...
The uanks
I mean thanks
You should try the Albright it's a great mono/fluoro to braid knot and easy to tie as well.
What up @RolandMartinOutdoors? Hope all is good thanks for all the cool videos 🤘🏽
Mid-Ohio Fishin where do you fish I fish mid Ohio as well
Great American fisherman.
First of all, thanks for doing this-it’s nice to see you on RUclips. I can’t say I have anything like your experience, but I’ve had bad experiences with every one of these knots at various times. While the palomar is brilliant in mono, several brands of fluoro break quickly and easily with the palomar and do much better with variants of the uni-knot or the San Diego Jam. I’ve experienced this problem myself, and it took breaking off several fish to figure out where the problem was, but don’t take my word for it, watch what Aaron Martens has to say on the subject. The uni to uni join is pretty solid, but the FG knot blows it away in terms of reliability and strength (but it’s a little slow to retie on the water). I also have had better success with the Alberto knot when tying braid to mono or fluoro, which has been the knot I use when I retie a leader to braid on the water. And for a loop knot, especially in the size of line that you use in bass fishing, I use Lefty’s non-slip loop. I guess I’m saying that there are no knots that work perfectly for every brand and type of line for all people. As long as you do your homework and don’t pick seriously weak knots, and provided you tie them well, most quality knots will work. Again though, the palomar in fluoro (and I use Sunline products) can fail quickly, especially with any shock.
Just some thoughts from someone who spends way too much time tying and pull testing knots...
Great comment! The general public needs a couple easy to tie knots! I'm the best Bimini twist guy you have ever seen but that knot is "over the top" and I'm not going to show it!
Check out his video on the best 3 knots to tie with monofilament. It is worth watching.
They're Roland Martin hope you see this and can't reply I'm a bass guy that has not used braids but bother year I only use it on drop shot rod because I can never tie a unit of uni or a blood knot or any of these to have a liter do not know why thanks for the help maybe I can get it this time LOL thanks for all the years of knowledge from fishing tournaments and watching your cable show you've taught me a lot just wanted to say thanks
Try a Surgeon's Knot it's much easier to tie.

You can tell an old schooler from beginners such as myself. I spent money on those Dr.Slick mitten scissor clamp hahaha. Sir RN just use his teeth and a old timers pocket knife
we used to use a loop knot for crank baits where you took the two lines and turned them to make a figure eight and put the line thru the loop somehow, I wish I could remember how to tie it.
can you use the loop knot on braid as well? thanks for all the great videos.
good info but i like my improved clinch knot and alberto/albright for leader knots
Palomar knot won the knots wars 100 percent knot strength. At these that's what they said an showed
Woo that was the deal son! Wet the line before you cinch up the knot.
I should have mentioned that because I do moisten the line.
Hey Roland you're my hero been watching you since I was a kid. It would be an honor to fish with you sometime.
Of course I want to be a better fisherman. I have never cought a large mouth bass and I'm not to good at catching fish but I sure do love to fish. Mainly on my little john boat.
Use all three
Great:)
I use the Alberto knot for leader with super glue
You need to try the san Diego jam knot
I'd venture to say ole Roland has tried em all.
SUPER CLUE is the KEY, lol~
Now thats a hook
Roland, I have trouble using braded line on my bait casting reels? The line pulls down into the spool?
The newer braid is a tighter weave and is a lot better
👍👍👍👍👍👍
