What wash media do you own to care for YOUR car?
Apex Detail I use the blue sponge from optimum and kamikaze sponge from esoteric car care . I have black cars with soft paint so this works .FINALLY I found something good that does the job after some many other options that would marr the paint . Thanks for the videos
I use the microfiber madness incredipad. Couldn't be happier with it. 👍
I have a microfiber Adams mitt and the lambs wool as well
Incredipad for now, maybe i will try the griots chenille wash mop
I'm currently using a Chenille wash sponge with that scrubby side, but recently I ordered a Chemical Guys Chenille mitt.
My wife calls me crazy for using 6 wash mitts to wash one car. I call her crazy for owning 50 pair of shoes. We just don’t understand each other
😂 6 mitts sounds normal to me!
I like 4 .. incredipad Xl On roof/hood/rear, 1 mitt each side (half way point)
Last (sorry Scott) LM pad on the dirtiest areas left and right lol
Touche!!! lol I use 4 or 5
Apex Detail hey can u help me understand why the red sponge is good wondering if I should try it ? At moment I’m using the luxury wash pad .
🤣😂🤣😂
When I saw the title, I quickly wondered: "How in the H.E. Double Hockey Sticks, is he going to compare wash mitts?" Then I saw a microscope... Question answered! Amazing.
I too am a PA guy. I didn't think you could prove the release of dirt and grime. Then you introduce a microscope! That was quite simply awesome and you successfully made your case with proven facts. I for one thank you for your diligence and attention to, well...detail.
Hands down the most informative illustration of this topic I’ve seen. Thanks Brian for being objective and using facts rather than opinion and hype. The detailing community is better because of your efforts to teach and inform. As I’ve said before, best channel of it’s kind on RUclips.
Thanks for the upload again brian
The detailing community appreciates your hard work.
thanks for taking the time, I have never cheeped out on auto detail supplies but this just proves a tried and true point, you get what u pay for 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
best detailing channel on youtube without all the hype. I also use the microfiber mit on my black corvette zr1.
I think I value your opinion more than any other RUclips Detailer channel. Half the products I’ve tried are after your review and I’ve yet to be disappointed. Please keep them coming.
Most informative detailing channel available!!👍🏻👍🏻
Been waiting for a test like this , TIME to watch.
Thank you for making videos! You teached me a lot how.to take care of my car! Keep up the good work it makes my day
Awesome, in depth look at various wash media, never saw anything like that before, thanks
Wow. Such insight!
I love it Brian
Just a dumb old sponge from the auto-parts store, but I'm ordering the Cyclone Wash Mitt and the red split sponge. Thank you for making this video and sharing your best-products research information!
Thanks for taking the time to put this video together. As the saying goes, "seeing is believing". Nice job Brian 👍✌️
Awesome video! Thank you for taking the time to do this!
Your videos are the best Brian. I keep going through them since I just found your channel. I can’t take a comparison seriously if I see the presenter wearing a T shirt that is emblazoned with the logo of the “winner”. Keep up the good work. I am so happy that I found your channel (and so is Amazon). ☮️👍
Amazing video, packed with great information, the addition of seeing what they pull under the microscope is fascinating and very helpful. Thank you very much!!
Excellent video very informative and straight to the point 10/10 video for car wash mitts.
I used to wash car via sponge, but due to new car, and clear coat for first time, I've way upped the game, Which is why I follow you for great information like this video
...I do like how you let the viewer decide for themselves.
Great upload B!!
thats why i dont rinse my washmitt in separate bucket, i rinse it with 45 degree nozzle on pressure washer. Much more efective, and easier than dunking and rubing washmitt. Great video, good education for those who think using only good washmitt and not rinsing properly will save them from swirl marks. And also washing with soap makes rinsing much easier than rinsless wash.
Awesome to see everything in the Microscope!! Rag Company and DPC Mitts, , and OPT Big Red Sponge.. i love the sponge with ONR !!
What a great review Brian 🇬🇧
Love this video. I know you have water restrictions at your shop but would love to see the same kind of video but instead of using the rinse bucket with grit guard would love to see how the mitts perform using free flowing water either garden hose nozzle or power washer for releasing dirt. I personally use the one mitt no bucket method my car gets washed once a week usually and is coated so most if not all of the larger stuff comes of with initial foaming and the only thing left is traffic film behind the wheels and lower body panels. When I do the contact part I do rinse the mitt after each panel with the garden hose or power washer which I think is more effective than just a rinse bucket.
Microfiber Madness Incredipad is my wash media of choice. I think it's gotten better with time too.
This was an excellent idea and the methodology was great as always
Great video a real eye opener! Just subscribed
This video was very informative man thanks
Do of these on clay bars and synthetic clay mitts. Would be interesting to hear your thoughts on them.
Hi brian, great video, my favourite wash media (same as yourself) are the microfiber wash pads/mitts, (microfiber madness incredipad/mitt) are my personal favourite.
But i also use the BRS with ONR and it's great.
I also use other different wash media.
Now pro detailer magazine here in the uk did a big test on all wash media not so long ago and the chenille/noodle mitt won, why, well their one of the cheapest, softest, release the dirt well, but the main one was they cause the least damage on paint.
If you can get hold of a pro detailer magazine give them a read.
one of the best wash mitt test video proven by a microscope, good on you
Great video Brian!
Perfect timing Brian. I’ve been considering switching to wool over my microfibre blended mitts lately. Not anymore. As always thank you for your knowledge and time.
Awesome video! Never thought there was a huge difference in mitts but of course informative as always.
I've been waiting for this review from YOU!!!. I use Shineys and maxshine.
Many years ago someone posted that they used a grout sponge to wash their car. I decided to give it a shot and haven't looked back. These things are awesome at picking up dirt and releasing it. Super soft. I even use multiple of them when washing my car so as to make sure not to introduce as much dirt to the car.
Your paint must be hammered.
Well done, great review
cool video Brian the science guy. lol.🍻🍻🍻🍻
Great video! Ordered a few products - thanks
I took the Scott Bley approach and bought six Chemical Guys Chenille microfiber wash mitts (currently $7/each), and I use two buckets. One bucket has soap, water, and all six wash mitts. I use one side of a wash mitt to wash a panel top to bottom, flip it over, wash another panel top to bottom, wash a rim, and then throw it into the other bucket - I do not wash or re-use the mitts while washing the car. Then I grab another clean mitt and continue. I can clean my car using only five of the six wash mitts, the sixth is a backup in case I drop one. Then they get tossed into the washing machine with all the other microfiber cleaning and drying towels.
Great video so nice to see those whasmits under a microscope ! Greetings from holland
That O'Reilly commercial doesn't help with that guy using a Sponge.............
Hahahaha...No...I guess not.
I use a big red sponge with Optimum no rinse. Then follow it up with the noodle green wash mitt in ONR to make sure the panel is completely clean before a drying aide
Love your channel Brian
Wow...informative! Best product and tool channel... hands down. Thanks B!!
Agreed. Hes probably the only one (from what I've seen anyway) that doesn't do mainly body work products like most other channels, which is ok I guess but that's just a tiny part of detailing.
Awesome! This really helped
Love this!!!
Wow, awesome video!!!
I like the wheel glove style, can you give a link for those? I like that type to really clean the front and then the back of the spokes by hand. Big Red sponge is great and just an issue to keep it cleaned out on really dirty surfaces. Nice way to demo all the product types!
Great video - thanks !!!
Excellent video 👍🏻
good LORD, with the amount of detail you go into you must detail million dollar cars, good on you for being an artisan of the craft.
Love the channel! :) I ordered a couple of "Microfiber Madness" wash mitts as well as some Eagle Edgeless 600 from the Rag Company. I was surprised to feel how much softer the rags were in comparison to the wash mitt and it made me wonder why everyone seems to recommend mitts? I even see the following in my Model 3 manual: "CAUTION: Avoid using tight-napped or rough cloths, such as washing mitts. A high-quality microfiber cleaning
cloth is recommended." What do you think?
Great information!!
Excellent video!
Great timing i need a new one ☝️ lol thanks B
Jon from Forensic Detailing Channel would be proud. Well done sir 👍
I hope so....I have a ton of respect for Jon.
I really have to get one of the glove mitts for wheels!
I love my sponge, killer performance!
I use cheap Chinese short-mediumish nap synthetic wool mitts. I rinse my mitts with my pressure washer and find the material releases dirt well using this method, and find that the material can hold suds better and lather surfaces A LOT more (which I feel is very important to me as shampoo is lubricant) than microfiber in general. If they catch dirt that won't rinse out with the pressure washer, I just throw them away and use new ones.
DI Microfiber Hybid Green Monster. Works great.
Love Apex detail would really like the new apex edge less sucker towel
Have you ever done a side by side comparison between a microfiber mitt or mop and the softest car wash brush on a corrected panel to see how each can scratch? Some of the brushes out there seem so soft that they wouldn't scratch, I mean some of the brushes out there are softer than the wheel brushes people use. Would like to see a comparison if it's worth your effort. New to the channel and like your down to earth videos. Thanks
Very very nice. Thanks
I was sitting on the fence about getting the big red sponge until I seen your review
Incredible video! Really explained well. Do you preffer BRS over SudzBudz blue sponge. If so why?
I use 8 chenille noodle was mitts. Each one does a different part of the car then put in a empty bucket never back in the wash water bucket. Sounds like I watch someones videos :)
Yes! Thumbs way up!!!👍🙂
Apex Detail no two bucket method for you then?
Tundra Whisperer well he probably still has a second pre soak bucket to throw the used mitts in 😉 I know I do
I have the five finger thingys for the wheels as well.
What are your thoughts on rinsing a chenille mitt with a hose or power washer during a wash instead of using a rinse bucket with grit guard? Have you checked to see if either of those methods are more or less effective in cleaning a dirty mitt?
I use the one bucket, multiple mitt method per Scott from Dallas Paint Correction. There is minimum risk of marring if you use a fresh mitt every time. Mitts are cheap and last a long time. More practical for the enthusiast than a pro shop I guess.
Brian, try the big gold sponge from optimum. I recently replaced my big red sponge with it and am very happy. Softer foam material and its more dense which means it holds the rinseless wash solution throughout the entire panel vs most of it being dispersed in your first few swipes. It also was formulated to be used with soap(whereas the BRS wasn't though im sure its fine).
Brian great video. Between the Deep Tufted Chinelle vs Rag Company blue/white and other 70/30 blends which would you recommend for least scratch/marr?
A good video. How well did the last 2 types release the dirt? What you could also consider is seeing how abrasive each clean type of media is on soft paint, or something like a blank cd, wet, to see if there is any difference.
They release dirt very well...all around the best mitts.
I'm not affiliating any products, but I have been using sheepskin (the real thing) and it is best material I have found for my meticulousl way of washing my vehicle. I soak it in a bucket of soapy water, it holds the water and soap perfectly as you wash, and rinses perfectly in the same bucket as you go. No mess no fuss. You could wash a baby butt with it if this is how you cherish your cars paint. I have no idea where to buy them, but I used to have a sheepskin clothing manufacturing business 25 years ago and have been using the scraps for my car washing ever since. They last forever.
Science!! Bill Nye of the detail world sir.
Thanks for caring about our time and not wasting it with blabbing.
“Keep it in the kitchen” exactly what I tell my fiancé. I’m sleeping on the couch tonight
Robert Utterbach 😂💀
I really would like to see this but with and without the grit gaurd....
Also maybe with and without a cap or 2 of ONR
Excellent
😅❤ MY DUDE BROKE OUT THE MICROSCOPE. MY MAN! GOOD LOOKING OUT. LET THE COMMERCIALS PLAY AND DON'T HIT THAT SKIP AD BUTTON. LET THIS MAN GET PAID FOR THIS CONTENT. A+++ CONTENT.
BRAVO 👏
HI Brian. Great job on the explanation of using various wash media. May I ask what make and model microscope you were using to show us the results on the monitor?
Similar to this one....www.amazon.com/Microscope-Languages-Adjustable-Brightness-Recording/dp/B07NGGH3ZF/ref=sr_1_6?camp=1789&creative=9325&keywords=led+digital+microscope&linkCode=ur2&linkId=825da55e09000328413b0397c345c258&qid=1563490191&s=automotive&sr=1-6
Haha its funny how every detailer i watch has a different opinion. Matt likes the Incredipads, you Cyclone, Larry i believe the fluffy lambs mitt you have there.
I also have a Cyclone pad, 2 mitts. A incredipad XL and one of Dpc’s Pads. Ive been using the Incredipad + 2 Cyclone mitts. Scott’s Pad Is similar to the mitts in thickness and feeling. Haha i also have that hand mitt .. like using that one on wheels.
One of the best detailing videos on RUclips in a looong time, where did you buy the gray Chenille mitt?
"the rag company dot com"
They're the best. I bought three. Threw away the rest.
Autozone.
I like the CSI like mitt inspection. This fall on CBS, “Apex Details”, high quality auto detailing and murder investigations.
😂😂👍
Been some time with many new products follow up vid would be cool
Regarding mitts how often do you wash them? I never really thought about it considering i just gave them a good rinse in the tub under the faucet to get out all the soap and then dried. Personal car washed weekly so the car never really gets too dirty.
Towards the end you stopped showing the grit guard rinse and scope. Still like the video cause I gained knowledge but I don't appreciate the half way job. Those two last mitt / sponge I would of loved to see the full test.
Thanks though!
agree, that shouldnt happen and its a big NO
Amazing
This is great. I'd love to see this done on Clay Bars / Mitts / Gloves. original Speedy pro vs the world...
That one is on the list.
Do you prefer the microfiber wash mitts/pads versus the Big Red Sponge specifically for doing rinseless washes on better paint?
Which product do you have in your pump sprayer for your rinse-less wash? Thx
When the microscope comes out you know its going to be a great video. I to use The Rag Company wash mitts works fantastic, only problem was you never showed up the grit guard rinse for those mitts you went straight to the big red sponge?
Aaaaaaaaaannnddd, the wash bucket was never cleaned twixt one and the next, giving each successive competitor a increasingly fouled playing field. One of several flaws in the experiment, the data gleaned still managed to provide valuable insight. Your efforts are much appreciated.
What happened to your mega foam vs me pink video? I was about to watch it 😢🙁
They work, Billy Gibbons carries one everywhere he goes. How do you think the Eliminator stays so clean?
I dont know a lot of in Englis ! Finally which is best please tell me !
It may have been a good idea to refresh the rinse water after every test, the latter media was being rinsed in ever dirtier water ?
With the results of this test. Is the ultra black sponge the best wash media? For using with car shampoo not rinseless
