    thats why i dont rinse my washmitt in separate bucket, i rinse it with 45 degree nozzle on pressure washer. Much more efective, and easier than dunking and rubing washmitt. Great video, good education for those who think using only good washmitt and not rinsing properly will save them from swirl marks. And also washing with soap makes rinsing much easier than rinsless wash.

    Love this video. I know you have water restrictions at your shop but would love to see the same kind of video but instead of using the rinse bucket with grit guard would love to see how the mitts perform using free flowing water either garden hose nozzle or power washer for releasing dirt. I personally use the one mitt no bucket method my car gets washed once a week usually and is coated so most if not all of the larger stuff comes of with initial foaming and the only thing left is traffic film behind the wheels and lower body panels. When I do the contact part I do rinse the mitt after each panel with the garden hose or power washer which I think is more effective than just a rinse bucket.

    Hi brian, great video, my favourite wash media (same as yourself) are the microfiber wash pads/mitts, (microfiber madness incredipad/mitt) are my personal favourite.
    But i also use the BRS with ONR and it's great.
    I also use other different wash media.
    Now pro detailer magazine here in the uk did a big test on all wash media not so long ago and the chenille/noodle mitt won, why, well their one of the cheapest, softest, release the dirt well, but the main one was they cause the least damage on paint.
    If you can get hold of a pro detailer magazine give them a read.

    Many years ago someone posted that they used a grout sponge to wash their car. I decided to give it a shot and haven't looked back. These things are awesome at picking up dirt and releasing it. Super soft. I even use multiple of them when washing my car so as to make sure not to introduce as much dirt to the car.

    I took the Scott Bley approach and bought six Chemical Guys Chenille microfiber wash mitts (currently $7/each), and I use two buckets. One bucket has soap, water, and all six wash mitts. I use one side of a wash mitt to wash a panel top to bottom, flip it over, wash another panel top to bottom, wash a rim, and then throw it into the other bucket - I do not wash or re-use the mitts while washing the car. Then I grab another clean mitt and continue. I can clean my car using only five of the six wash mitts, the sixth is a backup in case I drop one. Then they get tossed into the washing machine with all the other microfiber cleaning and drying towels.

    Love the channel! :) I ordered a couple of "Microfiber Madness" wash mitts as well as some Eagle Edgeless 600 from the Rag Company. I was surprised to feel how much softer the rags were in comparison to the wash mitt and it made me wonder why everyone seems to recommend mitts? I even see the following in my Model 3 manual: "CAUTION: Avoid using tight-napped or rough cloths, such as washing mitts. A high-quality microfiber cleaning
    cloth is recommended." What do you think?

    I use cheap Chinese short-mediumish nap synthetic wool mitts. I rinse my mitts with my pressure washer and find the material releases dirt well using this method, and find that the material can hold suds better and lather surfaces A LOT more (which I feel is very important to me as shampoo is lubricant) than microfiber in general. If they catch dirt that won't rinse out with the pressure washer, I just throw them away and use new ones.

    Have you ever done a side by side comparison between a microfiber mitt or mop and the softest car wash brush on a corrected panel to see how each can scratch? Some of the brushes out there seem so soft that they wouldn't scratch, I mean some of the brushes out there are softer than the wheel brushes people use. Would like to see a comparison if it's worth your effort. New to the channel and like your down to earth videos. Thanks

    What are your thoughts on rinsing a chenille mitt with a hose or power washer during a wash instead of using a rinse bucket with grit guard? Have you checked to see if either of those methods are more or less effective in cleaning a dirty mitt?

  • @mikechafe419
    @mikechafe419 3 года назад

    I use the one bucket, multiple mitt method per Scott from Dallas Paint Correction. There is minimum risk of marring if you use a fresh mitt every time. Mitts are cheap and last a long time. More practical for the enthusiast than a pro shop I guess.

  • @eliteowner121

    Brian, try the big gold sponge from optimum. I recently replaced my big red sponge with it and am very happy. Softer foam material and its more dense which means it holds the rinseless wash solution throughout the entire panel vs most of it being dispersed in your first few swipes. It also was formulated to be used with soap(whereas the BRS wasn't though im sure its fine).

    I'm not affiliating any products, but I have been using sheepskin (the real thing) and it is best material I have found for my meticulousl way of washing my vehicle. I soak it in a bucket of soapy water, it holds the water and soap perfectly as you wash, and rinses perfectly in the same bucket as you go. No mess no fuss. You could wash a baby butt with it if this is how you cherish your cars paint. I have no idea where to buy them, but I used to have a sheepskin clothing manufacturing business 25 years ago and have been using the scraps for my car washing ever since. They last forever.
