John, I purchased a load of noodle mitts, same size sponge size, cut the ends open, took them to my friending stitching lady, placed the sponges inside and she did a grand job of triple stitching them up. I did 10 in all which will last me long enough. 👍🏼

I prefer a wash pad to a mitt and they’re aren’t any chenille wash pads that I like. Generally too floppy. I recently got the latest wash pad that The Rag Company offer, The Ultra Wash Pad and found it perfect for me. Nice and soft outer covering, right size and right stiffness to the centre. It’s often mentioned that chenille is safer but the microfibre ones are hardly Brillo pads plus I clay once a year which just induces far worse marring than a wash pad will cause. Do a yearly enhancement polish after which sorts everything anyway. I think people can overthink the wash process!

Just shove a shaped sponge inside your Ideal wash mit, simples 😂.
I got one of those Kent ones and they're okay but it takes weeks to dry out

I prefer the mitt style of noodles with a cuff as it reduces the chance of dropping it, and protects paint if I forget to take my wedding ring off!
My billy bargain choice is the yellow noodle Simoniz mitts you find on offer for £2 in supermarket car care section every so often (Normally about £5).

I use the Halfords wash mitt, it’s basically the Kent car care green one with mesh on back and it’s around £7. It’s really nice and plush and soft, it’s got foam backing inside it to store suds and give some structure and the mesh on the back is perfect for scrubbing bug guts off numberplates/trim. I used to use an eBay microfibre chenille mitt that looking back now was awful. Had half the amount of noodles, was half the size and had no backing so it was completely floppy. But it’s great for wheels because it’s soft enough and you can wrap it around the spokes

I personally like a wash mitt that is square or rectangular and doesn't have a thumb attachment. Those are very controllable and you can just flip it while your hand is inside to use the other side of the mitt.

Been using two microfibre mitts for paintwork and a generic noodle mitt for wheels for two years now. Genuine Microfibre Madness for paintwork down to waistline and the cheaper one for further down. Car is great and I'll watch this quest with interest but I'll take some convincing...
BTW I'm a Bilt Hamber kind of guy.

The the Bilt Hamber noodle mitt, I know you said get your hand out quick, but that leaves you open to the mitt falling onto the ground. I'd rather have the elastic than not

Lambswool mitt every time for me. Those noodle microfibre mitts are only good for the first couple of washes and then (like a cheap towel) go 'hard' and are not the same as when they are new.
A good lambswool mitt lasts 25+ washes before it starts to show deterioration in my opinion. Muigairs is my weapon of choice.

I picked up quite a few of the blue chennille noodle mitts from Asda ages ago. They're still going strong and have never marred the paint. I do have big hands and they fit perfectly, but might be a bit floppy for smaller handed folk.

It's unfortunate that there doesn't seem to be much that solves the pad/mitt dilemma. I've always preferred having something you can hold onto... so I've started buying the wash noodle mitts, putting my own sponge inside and stuffing the cuff inside too 😅 makes for a much sturdier wash pad.
    Keep up the videos!

That Carrand (sometimes has different name such as Autospa depending on who sold it I believe) but it’s only like 83/17 microfiber I believe. Maybe even worse than that. So quality of the microfiber isn’t high, but that could aid in the release of the dirt since the absorbency is low.

  • @TerrificFlow

Had a noodle wash mitt, large size that weighted 10 pounds once wet... Never again. The point of microfiber is the multitude of fiber with high density which enable dirt to be trapped in there, and then released in the rinse bucket, or under the nozzle of a pressure washer. No point in having these big blob of fiber that are apart from each other. These belong to the automatic tunnel wash. And why are these colored? I'm trying to see if my pad/mitt is clean or as clean as possible. Just make the pad white, which shows dirt the easiest.
Hence carpro microfiber mitt. Top quality: 2+ years of use and is still perfect. White, no bs color. Super soft and medium sized fiber, so not too shaggy and doesn't get stuck in gaps. It's not double sided, might be a negative because you won't clean as much in one go between rinse. But it makes the mitt so light and nimble, i loved it.
It's basicaly a quality version of those cheap aliexpress mitt that you recommanded a few years ago, which you still have one apparently.
PS: don't put it on top of a house heater, the fibers will be affected.

Jon, double the amount of noodles would surely increase the “density” of the media and reduce the “noodle” action that you suggest helps move dirt away from the contact surface. Perhaps resulting in a not-so-scratch-free mitt.
I’d hazard a guess that they all have the same density due to the limitations of the material it’s self.

    • @stephen1503

I do wonder if the shrink the width of the noodles and increased the amount of that would work.
