Both are great bikes. The Vestpilen is more beautiful and lighter, but the Yamaha is more reliable, cheaper and has two cylinders, which I prefer. For the price of the husky you can put a nice Akrapovic on the XSR, which will make it sound gorgeous and will strip some 5kg, do a nice remap to unleash easy 5-6hp, and you'll even have enough money to custom the bike so it'll look unique and beautiful. And it'll still be more reliable :)
I’m comparing buying a Vitpilen 701 from a coworker vs. an FZ/MT-07. Granted I’ve never ridden a single cylinder but I had this feeling that the Husqvarna would be slow. Glad to see that’s clearly not the case.
@@stinkyllama yeah, and just imagine if vitpilen got 1 extra cylinder, xsr will eat its dust...generally 1vs 2 cylinder, that 1 cylinder engine would need 20% more displacement to make about some horsepower..so with 2 vs 4 cylinder
One of my favorit youtube channels. You guys are doing amazing work and informative videos. Quick question, any chance you can made a video addressing top brands in terms of reliability! as a person considering getting into the motorcycle world, think this might be an important thing to address. reliability vs low maintenance motorcycles. Just a thought though.
WAIT! - No rider swap? Next time you do this please do a rider swap just to show there wasn't a bias. Also which bike wheelies in 3rd gear the easiest?
Would like to have seen a rider swap as others suggested. It's pricey for what you're buying, but the design is real cost. What other companies are designing bikes like this for the masses. They have a keen eye for keeping something from concept and actually visualizing that to reality without losing to much of the design integrity. Yes, there are cheaper more powerful bikes. But this bike is beautiful IMHO.
Well Skoda is a VW with less attractive skin, Audi is a VW with more attractive skin. Price difference is massive between these two. Whats your point? Or you just blowing air?
i hope you guys will do more videos which u go on an andventure like when u tested scramblers or 50cc's. even though i like this videos you guys make i like them(adventure ones) the most
The vitpilin 701 is an extremely light motorcycle for the entry level class even, in fact if it were a 250, 300 or 400 class naked or sport bike it'd STILL be the lightest in that segment. My only struggle with that bike is the fact that I think it may just be a 690 duke in drag which if I'm correct means there's no logical reason to buy one when the 790 Duke replacement is en route to the USA.
When the bikes are that light, it'd be interesting to know the weights of the riders too. I suspect the weight difference is not enough to balance gross weights out but it has to have an effect
My previous bike was svartpilen 401, It was awesome bike. I really liked and enjoyed husqvarna's single cylinder engine. But My 401's engine leaks a little..... For choosing my next bike, I really compared vitpilen 701 and Xsr900. It was hard to choose. But I don't want to worry about reliability. So I choose XSR900 and I really enjoying it. But I sometimes miss single cylinder's power and feeling
701 is going to make more torque down low, but you can never tell with Yamaha... They know how to tune a bike, I still chose the Vitpillen 701 for the ability to get away from intrusive detuning of traction control etc.
Yamaha motorcycles makes less round to the service centres (I,e) less on complications and less on wallet. Strangely better built and long lasting. In our country rx 100, 135 is treated like a GOD due to its practicality even after 30 years since it's introduction
Interesting bike, but I'm not sure there's much more of a niche in the market for these than there was for the late '90s supermonos. It's also hard to justify paying more for a more heavier, more stylish Duke 690.
So do you want a bike you can ride for endless miles with a valve check at 26,500 miles or do you want to search for a dealer, wait for parts and look at your bike while waiting.
Was thinking that, even if the Vit loses, it does not matter as it looks hot as hell. But hey, double winner. Love the company's dedication to design a bike from scratch, not by putting pieces of what they have already produced for other bikes and make it a profit.
Antoni The Goat ktm and husq are the sister company but still, they doesnt not reuse parts from older bike. Do u get my point here? They never have this bike before and build it from scratch, unknowingly it will be a hit in the market, whilst other company just want to fill in the gap, trying to fill in the market that they do not do best
zippy441 That's egzqctly what I wanted to ask. Also, in every review you make, the power of the bikes are about 10% lower than in Europe. Are you referring to rear wheel power measurments or...?
Travis Donald Stanley I did wonder that... but I think there are sometimes differences between the bikes/cars that we get and what you guys get across the pond because of emmisions etc??
Before i saw the numbers i thought it was xsr900 vs 701. Xsr700 looses on weight power and overall cc. One extra cylinder is never going to win all that back.
As with ANY vehicle out there..............HORSEPOWER doesn't equal anything!!! When You also factor in the total "weight" that vehicle has to drag down the strip with it,that's what counts!!! In other words........."power-to-weight" ratio!!! ;)
Yup,surely no argument there hansthurfjell!!! I was sure to make note of the specs of each bike in this video, and Yup..........no surprise on what the outcome would be with these two draggin!!! Lol. ;)
Isn't the vitpilen 701 just a dressed up duke 690? I did test ride a duke 690 the updated version and it was surprisingly quick for a single I must admit.
Duke 690 engine while costs wayy more than a Duke 690, and now the Duke 790 is right around the corner ready to outperform it while MSRPing for about the same price...
they usually dont have the top end power because they cant spin up high rpms that a twin, triple,or four can, the more cylinders the smaller they get leading to less rotational mass and more balance on the crankshaft, but a big single makes a lot of low end torque for wheelies ; )
I'd still get the yamaha. Far less likely to explode or destroy itself for no reason, and for the price of the 701, I could do some major work to the xsr to get it really close if not better performance wise.
If you imagine them as girls (another comment mentioned twin sisters) both look equally good imo, but the Husky is unfortunately a gold digger that will have you assign half of your life savings to afford it :c The XSR just loves you for who you are, true waifu material

Brand new 701 at the same dealer is $9500. It’s gonna cost you more then $2000 to get the Yamaha on par with the 701 in the twisties. Brakes and suspension need to be upgraded. That alone is gonna run you over $3000. Then you need to do some breather mods and a tune to get the power on par. Downside is the Yamaha still weighs 50 lbs more...
you know wht this mean right guys ? YAMAHA XSR900 VS KAWASAKI Z900RS CAFE, BRING IT ON !
Yamaha will easily win.
It wouldn't even be close. Yamaha would destroy it.
Yamaha would dust it until speeds get over 120 to 130mph
Kawasaky would easily win. It has more torque at lower rpm (98,5 Nm at 6500 rpm vs 87,5 Nm at 8500 rpm).
@@Stu0808 Yeah because z900 rs has around 950cc vs XSR900's 850cc. So yeah.

The Husky looks very nice, but at what price!!!
Just to be scientific, shouldn't you have swapped bikes and done it again?

Antoni The Goat yet looks so different, without the left over from the KTM ruin the design
It will break down and you wont be able to get spares and when you eventually do they will empty your account.
Not much in it for the drag times even though the Husky looked a lot faster at the end.
Toby slightly more powerful, big thing though is it weighs a lot less, makes for a very quick bike
A 12 second thumper. Crazy
Great numbers for 700s!
