Oh my goodness. Boring Friday night in Covid-19 land Sydney AU and Donna drops a video. Salvation! 👏💕✨😍
Same here for Tassie!! Was a great video. Cheers.
Couldn’t have said it better. 💜💜💜 West oz here. 🙋🏼♀️
Valma Get's my creative juices going. Donna is really dropping videos as we need it. Get those machines sewing, ladies. Greetings from Cape Town.
Yep. My favourite Donna! Hello from Melbourne. Salvation indeed. I even bought a Juki. 2010 because Donna uses Juki. It is a fabulous work horse straight stitch only. Just started a quilt for my grandchildren’s new Cocker Spaniel. Called Charky - short for Charcoal. Love the cutting noises Donna makes.
Jan Carter I’m in WA too! Hi!
I'm not sure I'd make two quilts... I'm thinking making one the front and the other the back. With an all over quilting pattern the only way you'd be able to tell, is by the label. ❤🌅🌵
Suzi SaintJames good idea
Suzi SaintJames I always do that because of save batting than use two batting and have some room for storage them.
That's what I was thinking of doing. Makes the quilt reversible then.
great idea!
I like them both, but I like the quilting best on the dark one. I also like the idea of using the second quilt as a backing.
Thank you, Donna. After all these years of watching, learning & quilting along with your videos; watching now feels more like a delightful visit with an old friend.
I like the more colorful quilt the best. You are wonderful, Donna!!!
I am not usually a fan of darks, like black in a quilt,so imagine how surprised I am that I LOVE the black one! Adding the purply border made the whole thing a jewel like quilt.Lovely!
Love them both! I didn't particularly care for the second one with all that negative space until it was quilted. That quilting makes all the difference in the world!
I like the one you do but imagine the quilting w variegated thread....amazing!
Connie L. I was thinking the same thing!
That would be amazing! This is next on my list of ones to make :-)
I happened to catch the presentation by Cozy Quilts that showed these two quilts (probably on You Tube since I've been addicted). It looked to be at some sort of show as the demonstrator was on a stage in front of an audience. Very interesting how different your black background makes it look compared to the white she was demonstrating. I am liking the strip tube idea. I don't have much experience - just starting to transition to piecing quilts from being a lifelong garment sewer. Any shortcuts are very attractive to me. Thanks for another great demo.
Hello Holly, if you are interested in shortcuts, you might also take interest in 'tube piecing' quilts. Irena Swanson has videos ruclips.net/channel/UCeJQNp4f-_9MALkUwr-HNfgvideos and a website . Donna also integrates a lot of 'shortcuts' by tubes in her amazing quilts. I like them both so much.
I recently started (and am almost done now) with my first Cozy Quilt Designs pattern. It uses the strip tube and was my first time doing a pattern like that. It was really easy to make a bunch of half square triangles that way and they all came out perfect - no trimming to make them all the right size like with other techniques.
Definitely get the Strip Tube ruler. There are so many quilt options to choose from when you have one.
Love the strip tube ruler (also useful for squaring up HSTs). Just be aware of the bais seams it creates. The first one I made got a bit wonky.
The video you watched was from Cozy Quilts Strip Club. Each month the owner debuts a new quilt made with 2.5” strips. Donna does a fabulous job of making Cozy Quilts patterns!
They are both beautiful. I love all my quilts. My last one becomes my favourite until the next one .LOL
I enjoy watching your tutorials 💕
Jeanne Rowsell me too!!
I definitely like the black one better! I have just begun quilting but this double dipping has made it onto my wishlist!!!
Donna you make quilting so easy! I love watching your tutorials!
I preferred the quilt with the colors being the main focus. I did like the black background. Thank you for another great tutorial.
Love all your tutorials.
Wow! Very nice both quilts!!!🥰👍
I like lots of negative space. I also really liked the dense quilting. Thanks Donna!
Both quilts are beautiful! I find that one can't go wrong with batiks.....I'm an addict! And like you, I prefer the one on the right, with the black background. Thank you for this great tutorial.
I would never
have thought that all that turquoise thread would work. But I think second one was so much brighter with all that turquoise thread!! Thx for sharing all this
I agree with you on the quilts! OMG, that one is a shining jewel! And guess what - I have a ton of black jelly roll solid screaming "Double dip me!" Thanks, Donna, again for a great tutorial!
Both quilts are beautiful but I think I like the colorful quilt the best. Thank for the tutorial.
Wow they both are absolutely GORGEOUS!! I love all the colors too but because you used a more dense quilting design I love the black one wayyyy better dont get ne wrong I love the other one too but love the black one better because I am infatuated with quilting! And Donna, you really need to teach a class in quilting I learn so much from you with your tutorials and you have no idea how much I appreciate you and all that your willing to show all of us that are learning and I know I'm not the only one , you have a way about teaching that makes us really get it ! And you explain things that you know that we as newer quilters need to know where others just assume we should know.so thank you from the bottom of my heart for all that you do because i wouldnt have been able to make half the stuff i make if it wasnt for you teaching in your tutorials!! Love you and Matt and your whole staff they all are the sweetest! Stay safe and healthy!💜💜💜💜💜
the black with the denser quilting is so awesome
That's a very hard choice because I like them both. You did great!
I didn't like the black one until I saw all the quilting. It brought the black to life. Now I like them both.
I love the denser quilting on the dark quilt, but I love the lighter quilt.
I think I will try and make both. The brighter one for me and the darker one for my husband. Great to snuggle under whilst watching tv on cold winter nights. Save on heating bills too, bonus! 💜
That’s a hard decision....I like them both..but that pattern you picked for the quilt design..that is really lovely.....!...nice job!🙋🏼♀️🌻🐝
Both are VERY pretty, but my choice is the one with more Black! It just POPS to me~ Awesome job Donna! That will be on my next order, mental note not to forget it! 2 thumbs up!
I thought that the black on the second quilt was WAY too dark, but after you added the light thread in the more dense pattern, all that dreariness of black went away. I learned a lot here. Thanks Donna
Cath J
Donna another fabulous demonstration. I love the second quilt & the turquoise thread. I was thinking of the multi color thread for such colorful quilts. My favorite is yet to be made. I love the wedding ring!
I love the darker one better. But they are both beautiful!
Hi Donna: I bought that pattern on a visit to Cozy Quilt right after Daniella gave the presentation and honestly have not made them but after seeing you demonstrate I think it will be my weekend project. I liked a lot the one with lots of color showing. You are a really good teacher and made everything seem so easy. I’ll send pictures.
I like how compile different those two came out!👍🙂
I love the quilt with the mostly black background, and find the quilting on it to be stunning. I much prefer darker backgrounds as they make the colored fabrics pop, so I was thrilled when I saw you'd chosen black for the background.
I like the one with the black background also!
My husband and I both like the darker one best. They are both pretty cool.
Both quilts are beautiful. I prefer the one of the right which has the black background - the same one Donna prefers. Love the tutorial. will be buying the pattern!
I love the black one with all of that negative space with the dense quilting. Good job, as usual. Thank you so much for sharing all that you know.
I just watched this and thought the black was too much. After Donna put the quilts on the long arm, WOW!!! I love the second quilt, too! Amazing eye, Donna!
Wow they are both beautiful but I like the second one best and the quilting!!
Love watching your tutorials. The two for one is a great idea and I really could not choose between them. Living in the UK quilting and fabric shops are hard to get to so I love your tutorials and website.
Hi Donna,
Have not long discovered your Chanel and just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your tutorials. They are brilliant. Thank you for helping me survive lockdown. Cheers from MELBOURNE Australia. X
I asked you for this because I got confused trying to follow the pattern. THANK YOU, it was much easier to spot my problems having watched you do it!
They are both fabulous, but I like the predominantly black one with the denser quilting.
The black one(second) quilt. I love that one.
YAY! A new video! Thanks Donna. I was waiting for this one to appear! And not one, but two quilts for the price of one! Love them both. I have some perfect jelly rolls to choose from in my sewing room and I have a whole lot of black fabric. Hmmmm. Will that be my project today? And a new give-away! I love the colors on this one. Perfect! Thanks for making my Friday special!
So hard to decide which one I like better! I think I like the second one, with more background fabric, because you used that nice bright thread that added an extra element you don't see as much in the full color version. I also had the idea some other commenters have about using them both on the same quilt, so it's two sided. I'm really enjoying your videos. Hope to be able to come down to visit after this pandemic mess is over. OH, and Happy Mother's Day! :)
I love both but the 2and is my favorite. The black really makes the colors stand out
i love them both but i think I like the black squares with lots of quilting. you are amazing.
I like the quilt with the black negative space.
I am new to your tutorials, but you are doing a GREAT job!
Two for one! Delightful!! I like the one with more batik fabric showing and less quilting. I hand quilt most of my quilts and prefer less quilting! Both of them are beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
Oh Donna you picked perfect colors for both of these quilts. I can't decide which one I like best. A BIG shout out to Cozy Patterns just love this double dip pattern.
Both are gorgeous. Although I like the second better I will probably use Ms. Saint James suggestions and do them back to back
I like the idea of 2 quilt tops with the same fabric
Great tutorial Donna..as usual. You are a bright spot in my morning. I like both quilts and I do like the colorful one best..but I LOVE how the quilting shows on the more solid color quilt. I am a longarm-er and I am fascinated with your quilter..I have a different brand and top of the line but feel mine is so much more complicated. Stay healthy and thank you for the tutorials and the give away is always so generous.
I love some of the music being played in the background. I think pony and dog is my favourite. Zandra Howard UK
Thank you. I love the quilt with all the black the most. Both quilts are beautiful. BTW I purchased a Rowenta Iron similar to yours and I love it. I called the shop and a kind young lady gave me the info. I went to purchase the same model as yours and noticed there is a new version and I purchased and received it yesterday. I love it so much. I also love your sewing machine, but I already own a Juki and she's great. Thank you for all your very lovely videos. BJ
I didn't really like the black quilt until you did the turquoise quilting. Looks very nice now but I still would choose the more colorful quilt, maybe just because the background is black on the other.
Thanks for another great video
They are both very nice but I LOVE the black one!!
I like the second one with the black with the nice quilting.
I can not say which one that I like the best. Because they both are STUNNING!!!
I love the one with more black. The quilting is beautiful. Love your tutorials. Thank you.
They both look great. I think I like the more colorful one. Great job Donna. 🧵💗🧵
Very pretty I think I like the one with all the colored fabrics on it the one on the left or the 1st one you showed but I really agree with you the quilting on the 2nd quilt was really pretty. You have a nice Mothers Day Donna....... Stay healthy now the rest of 2020. Hugs from Minnesota
They both turned out beautiful, but I like the black lattice with batons peaking through the best. Bless you, Donna!
Batiks not batons! Silly autocorrect!
Both quilts look beautiful but the combination of the blue thread and denser pattern makes the darker quilt my favorite too.
I like the black background one with the purple border too! Love seeing the smaller quilting too that shows the whole design on the black.
Wow! I didn't like the second quilt, but then she quilted it and now it's amazing! I wish I could get my quilts longarmed!
they are both beautiful quilts but I think I like the one with all the color in it the best
i love the dark one , at first i wasent sur of the dark color ,but with the quilting it is wow, love it, stay safe :)
I like both of them but I think I like the colorful quilt the best. Thank you for all of your wonderful videos!
This is really a nice idea. You make everything look so easy. Wish I had your longarm quilter. I could stand and watch that work all day.
I like the smaller looking block better also! Nice job!
Both quilt tops are just beautiful!
Thank you Donna for a wonderful tutorial. I agree with you I like cozy quilts patterns. This one looks like a lot of fun, and of course you can use jelly rolls for the background as someone said. So glad to see that you’re able to still makeVideos for us. Praying that you and your family and your employees stay healthy.
Love both quilts! But I think I like the 2nd one best! 🎉
I love the first one because the batiks show up. It's a very interestjng pattern!
I agree that I love the black lattice ,I love that you have used the quilting to break up the negative space. I saw another quilt on RUclips recently that had large blocks of black and did not like it, this is the perfect foil for plain areas, Thankyou.
I like the first quilt better with the larger quilting.i do love them both. The end one looks like a hug quilt pattern. But the first one is totally my favorite.
I love both of the quilts....But I really love the way the dark one pops!
I like both but probably the more colorful one. But love the idea of 2 quilts done at the same time. Love your toutorials.
Beautiful as always. I like the one with more black as well.
I like the quilt with all the color better. I love lots of color
Gosh, I love your videos. You guys rock!
LOVE these....thank you Donna !!!
I like the one with the black mire than the other one
I love both quilts but am like you the second one with all black. Love love the quilting. Thank you
I like them both!! Lighter one for summer. Darker one for winter :-)
As always you do a wonderful job. Both quilts are wonderful but like the black lattice one more. congradulations.
Love it! Two quilts at the same time! What a time saver! Thanks for sharing. ❤️
Both quilts are stunning....my favorite is the first, more colorful one. Thanks, Donna!
I love the dense quilting best! Wonder what it would have looked like in something beside black. I really enjoy watching all of your tutorials Donna. I like watching you doing cozy quilter design much better than cozy quilter...lol.
I like the batik one best.. the black is intense.. Such a cleaver idea to make two quilts. You are such a great teacher.. (your nails look very nice!)
I like the denser quilting. So beautiful
I prefer the one with dense quilting, but I liked that pattern better right from the start. Great video.
Thank you for an awesome tutorial. I prefer the first one with all the colours in it.
Both are gorgeous! Thinking of making these for a couple of 2020 graduates. I prefer the black one.
I like the beautiful jewel tones of the first quilt....might have to make this one too!
Both are colorful, but I like the one with less color make the design really pop. Thanks for another great tutorial. Happy Mothers Day to you!😊✂️🧵
Friday night on the couch watching old Aussie Rule matches in Wodonga Victoria when a new video pops up. Love it!✂️✂️✂️
