    The only thing that logitech missed in their new G502X and G Pro X 2 Superlight was the switch. This optical switches are far behind the Razer's last version. They must have put mechanical switches instead.

      Razer's QC is far behind like everyone else so it kind of balances out. Both are overpriced in todays market with things like Lamzu, pulsar etc in the market. Shit even Glorious has had better QC lately than razer with their DA v3 pro and Glorious makes some good mice for the price, but we all know their QC woes over the years at least they are really good with their warranty unlike Razer who will refuse to replace a keyboard because I took the keycaps off to clean it and the stem on my number 2 key pulled off with the fkn keycap. Apparently cleaning your keyboard voids warranty according to Razer.
      I recently got a Pwnage SB and while definitely expensive, I love the mouse. It's worth to me since it's practically a EC 2.5, super light and fantastic build quality. The click implementation is some of the best I've ever seen. Optical switches on mice are really just marketing, they serve no advantage over standard switches in terms of latency, consistency etc. They, in theory last longer but tbh that's not a big issue. The SB is my endgame mouse for now, 51 grams, great battery life when not on 2k which is unnoticeable in games at the cost of battery life. Stuff above 1k is really really diminishing returns, barely noticeable on high refresh panels in windows, unnoticeable in games besides when they cause performance issues like razer's 8k in some games and even 4k in a honestly pretty wide range of games. Plus SB click latency is crazy low, just as low as razers 8k optical mice, showing like I said optical serve no performance advantage over standard switches. They aren't like keyboards were you can set profiles for gaming with magnetic switches that switch from typing modes at high actuations to low actuation like .1mm.

    • @ivanborgia3384
      @ivanborgia3384 Год назад +3

      @@Abadeez Nah, optical switches are not marketing, in fact optical switches could simplified the debounce algorithm, also traditional switches have both electrical life and mechanical life, but optical ones will never scrap for electrical failure

    • @Abadeez
      @Abadeez Год назад

      @@ivanborgia3384 I wasn't saying optical switches are marketing, the polling rate is, just like sensors now since they've been flawless for like a decade now. Optical switches are fine, they don't offer a performance increase like they do on keyboards however was my point. They don't reduce latency and they don't feel as consistent switch to switch. Nothing wrong with optical switches at all, but they aren't needed and they don't make mechanical switches in mice irrelevant like they and magnetic switches do in keyboards.
      Opticals can still fail electrically, that's actually typically how they do fail before their actual mechanical life span. Optical are still mechanical btw, you still have to have practically everything a traditional switch does minus the contact that actuates the switch. Technically optical have more points of failure but tbh switches failing in general isn't really an issue and in theory Opticals can last longer but mechanicals can last just as long. Not putting down opticals but they aren't game changing or even needed at all especially compared to keyboards. They don't off anything better than a traditional switch and in fact they often times feel inconsistent on the same mouse.
      Razer does well with their switches but even my DA v3 Pro feels slightly different between m1 and m2 not enough that it matters or notice it during game, but the QC on the v3 pro is dogshit so the switches are the least of the concern.

    Completely agree with the 4k or even 8k polling rate. It is the latest tech, regardless of people think they feel it or not. It should be there. The minor improvements they made doesn't warrant buying this thing imo. This was the best they could do after 3 years?
    Also, why not release a gpro x superlight mini? That would have been a banger, and a lot of people would have bought it guarantee.

      i completely disagree. why would they spend time trying to implement a higher polling rate when it has no noticeable benefits? whats the point? j to say its there? logitech doesn’t usually implement things like that until they are either perfected or actually make a difference. i dont think the minor improvements do warrant anyone that alr has a gpx to upgrade but for the average consumer ( most of which likely have wired) this mouse will b very appealing. i agree more sizes should b made but whos to say thats not otw? overall i just rly dont think not having 4 or 8k polling rate is even close to a big deal. imo shoulda used better switches and maybe nocked a couple gs off the weight.

    • @Abadeez
      @Abadeez Год назад +7

      I disagree. It annihilates your battery even at 2k and it is unnoticeable in games. You can notice even 2k in windows and doing some stuff on high refresh panels like 240hz but it's negligible and you don't notice while playing games unless it tanks performance in that game. Imo mice, especially "wireless" mice shouldn't be pushing passed 2k right now. 2k cuts your battery life in half or more from 1k and you don't notice it at all in games. Even if you do 'feel' smoother it won't provide any performance benefits since your body can't even come close to taking advantage of 1k let alone anything higher.
      It's fine if you want to push it in wired mice but push it in wireless mice when 8k you're charging the damn thing in like 6 hours is crazy. You don't get a full day out of 4k and 2k you get about 2-3 days, obviously this varies some but it's about par for the course from my personal experience. Compare that to 1k where you can get like 1-2 weeks of battery life, not only prolonging the life of the mouse by limiting battery degradation but keeping you off the wire as much as possible for no real world benefit besides to say "haha im on 4k/8k plebs" except all it does is kill your wireless mouse faster and you'll get no performance benefit from it. Razer should work on making a mouse that doesn't have massive QC issues within a month of use before worrying about marketing with high polling rates. Polling rates are basically turning into mice sensors, where people bitch about it not being THE LATEST 3395 when the 3395 had issues with wireless mice and battery life but has no advantage over a 3370. Shit it has no advantage over a like 3330 except for a big DPI number! OH BOI! Same thing with polling rate, offers you nothing except killing your mouse's lifespan but OH BOI IT'S A BIGGER NUMBER REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
      Take it from me who owns far too many mice and have used each of them for at least several months. I notice nothing in game going from 8k to 1k, do notice it around windows and some stuff like that but nothing that actually benefits me in real world usage. You sure as hell notice the battery life, degradation and when the game doesn't like it though.
      I wish mice makers would do what keyboard do with their on the fly profiles, make it so the mouse will in game swaps to higher polling rate and out of games even alt tabbing you can drop it to w/e you want, like 500hz to prolong battery life when you don't need higher rates. I don't know why none of them have done this yet when keyboards have had it for actuation points for years now with the magnetic/optical switches. That makes more sense than the dumb push for higher polling rates just to use as marketing for suckers that think it does anything except kill their $150+ mouse faster for them.

    • @mikerzisu9508
      @mikerzisu9508 Год назад

      @De4dSp0t I disagree. Both of my 4k mice feel smoother when running in 4k versus 1k. It could be placebo, but I don't think so.
      Regardless, if you don't want to run it in 4k or even 2k, then run it in 1k then and save the battery. No one is forcing you to run it in 4k. All I am saying is there are people who want that higher polling rate, and it is becoming the standard now regardless of you being obviously bitter about it. At this day and age, and the fact all of these other manufacturers are releasing 4k polling rate at significantly less cost, there is no reason at all that it should not be available on a $150 flagship mouse from Logitech. This is just greed, plain and simple. Terrible release

      personally i find this new gpro update underwhelming for the price. idk about the polling rate. the weight reduction is so minimal, that i would rather purchase the older model for a cheaper price. or more likely an x2v2/x2h/atlantis mini/hati ace+. i was waiting for this release to see if anything grand comes out of it, but this is note like a mediocre attempt to keep it up to date. hot swap switches or better optical switch that is easily spamable. better side buttons or a least a weight reduction thats in the low 50s. i am sitting happily on my v2 pro and cant find a single reason to even check this out. the other mice i mentioned seem to offer better performance for the money.

Even if they added buttons on the other side, I still think it wouldn't have been worth it from an upgrade standpoint. The addition of USB-C here is arguably the only real upgrade worthy of note. The thing with the hgiher polling rate is you can see the difference even if you can't notice it. Do you have a 240hz monitor in your studio? If you do and you move your cursor in really fast circlular motion you will see the individual cursor frames right? On 1000hz the gaps between these singular images are not even, on higher hz they get more and more even. Now I don't know where the limit is maybe its at 2000hz, would be great if you could test that.

    The new clicks will help with the double click issue the superlight 1 has. They went with 2k polling rate for the battery life. You will only see a difference on 4k polling rate with a 240hz or higher monitor and a good CPU, it does use power from your CPU.

    It sucks the side buttons are still subpar. I love the shell material/coating of the Superlight but I have a strong preference for EC2 style shapes. If Zowie ever releases an EC1.5 (in terms of size I mean between the 2 and 1) with an updated shell material like the Superlight’s id be in heaven.

    I was honestly hoping for more from the refresh of it. I'll just keep my superlight going, might even snag a second one since i'm going to assume they stopped production of it. I was like "please have updated to usb-c." Honestly though I have a wireless base I throw it on and it's good when I get home from work. Slightly better battery life, and optical switches just aren't enough to push me to get the 2.

    What I don’t understand is why Optical switches are now suddenly the go-to trend?
    You can make a comparison of which company has the better “sounding” optical switch but at the end of the day it’s a much louder and more often stiff feeling switch compared to a mechanical switch like a Pink shell blue dot or Omron switch.

    Side buttons is the only reason i dropped my old Pro X superlight for a Razer Deathadder V3 Pro since the side buttons gave out on my old Superlight. The side buttons on the razer are miles ahead and firmer - no mush !!! Its really unfortunate the new side buttons are not much better than the original superlight.
