The Pro Controller costs so much because of how much tech is in them. The 3rd Party controllers you mentioned don’t have things like Gyro or HD Rumble, unlike the Pro Controller
You should check out the new Candy Con controllers. They use the K-Silver JH16 hall effect modules and they're cheaper than the Switch Pro Controllers and and the PB Tails Crush controller. Also, you can easily swap out the faceplate, thumbsticks, and dpads on the controller and create your own color combinations for them. The controller battery is also swappable, so you don't need to replace the whole controller if the battery ever goes bad
Me personally I recommend the power A wireless gamecube styled controller & the afterglow controller. Gamecube style takes batteries & is about $50, atleast where I live for the trade off no amiibo support. (You can now say you’ve played super Mario galaxy with a gamecube controller.) Afterglow takes a different usb type to charge, & also removes amiibo support but the major selling point of this console is the fact you can change its color. Theres also a secret color option in pure white.
Power A has horrible quality products so I wouldn’t recommend them. The sticks drift to the point where they’re completely unusable but at least they have a 1 year warranty
I'm sorry, but no one should be buying PowerA controllers when there are WAY better controllers out there. Actually, all licensed nintendo controllers lose in comparison to most non licensed ones (8bitdo, Binbok/Doyoki, EasySMX, mobapad, etc.)
The experience i’ve had with the quality of 3rd party switch controllers is good enough to know that the original switch pro controller trumps all copy’s because build quality and customer service all ways stick woth good quality
Massively disagree... The pro controller has NFC for Amiibo, HD rumble and a truly excellent battery life. The only thing its really lacking is the hall effect sticks. The only alternative I have ever got on with was mobapad's M6 HDs - Which are a joycon replacement rather than a pro controller alternative. But they drop the IR reader in favour of Hall effect sticks.
8bitdo makes some of the best controllers. I tried Nyxi with high expectations, but the Dpad sucks after only 1 year of use. I have to press the "up" direction extremely hard for it to register. And no, I do NOT have kids, just 1 adult (myself). 8bitdo, on the other hand, is wonderful for both their own controllers (best Dpads across the board), and their adapters for other controllers to be played on the Switch are great too.
One thing I like is the php after glow, I think they’re around 38-44$ depending on your Walmart but they have back buttons (the flat style so you can press almost anywhere) pretty responsive sticks
Well, after on and off drift with my switch pro con for many years now, i will say it is a great controller, but it is now retired as it got drift again. It's replacement is the 8bitdo ultimate but i also cycle between EasySMX X10, mobapadM6HD, & rarely the kingkong pro 2
I buy all my 3rd party controllers from 8bitdo, theyre overall great controllers and they have great customer service as well atleast from my experience. Had the switch pro controller since release and it really only lasted about a year pf playing botw and pokemon, not wanting to buy another pro controller i looked into 8bitdo’s snes looking controllers and they still work great, but my thumbsticks wore off after a couple more years of use so i contacted 8bitdo about this and sent them a picture of what happened and they sent me two sets of replacement thumbsticks for free. After my experience with their customer service i since bought 2 more 8bitdo ultimate controllers with the hall effect sticks and have been working ever since. Did i mention they’re cheaper?
dude, ive tried to cheap out and bought a bunch of those other controllers. they are all ass. horrible drift, connecting issues and most dont support amiibo. the pro controller has been the best option. also its super modable.

My favorite thing about the pro controller is the battery life. I can run a full week on that thing...the PS5 controller seems to last like 4 hours.
