I bought a $70 Motorola android some years ago. I meant it just to play music but it really is top notch as far as the usual stuff. Everything worked 100% without lag. Made a great temp phone, and now it's being used as the remote and screen for my Dji drone. Mid-tier androids can really have you questioning why you'd ever spend more than a couple hundred for a smartphone ever again.
I have a Moto G5 that's been playing audiobooks for years now. I first used it for its camera, which was s**t, but in an artsy way, and I was using this crazy app called Open Camera to weird up a bunch of otherwise ordinary photos. I love that phone, for all the stuff it did for me, and is still doing.
I got a Moto G Play in 2021 and i dailied it for a little while, and I loved it. The battery life was legitimately better than my Pixel 6 pro and even my iPhone 16 pro. It ran COD mobile surprisingly well, and it's still holding up relatively well today. The newer G Play is actually a downgrade, since they moved to a pretty crap Mediatek from the Snapdragon in the 2021.
30 dollars for a secondary phone that serves it's basic purpose of being a phone is great, actually. This would easily go for 80+ euros in my country. I usually only find these low tier phones at 60+ euros where I'm from and they perform way worse than this.
What is great about a phone like this is that in an Emergency , you can get a phone for 30 dollars and it will work... Not everyone is going to run 1080p videos or play video games. They are going to use the phone and text.
Nah it's more than that mate, you can get a flip phone or something that is basically just a normal phone for ridiculously cheap nowadays. But, we're reaching a point that literal android phones that can text, call but can also actually download some apps and games for nothing now, tech is probably the only thing getting cheaper right now.
I know it's a bloatware mess meant to sell a subscription and all, but still. This thing has significantly better hardware than my family PC had growing up in the early 2000s. For $30. In 2024. We've come a long damn way pretty fast.
It's pretty neat, low end budget phones are actually usable phones now. Yeah, they're still a laggy mess, but they do what they need to do, given the low price. You wouldn't be able to find stuff like this often, even like 5 years ago
I think the lag in RUclips is when apps are actually being installed. It runs videos smoothly while the apps are being downloaded, and actually lag when the app is being installed. I have this same issue with my Samsung M34 (not as much, but definitely noticable)
12:15 Bruh, I remember wanting to play goat simulator so bad when it first came out and my laptop at the time BARELY being able to muster up double digit fps, the fact a modern 30 dollar shovelware burnerphone can play it better than that is insane to me. Also kinda funny that goat simulator also appeared to run better than your game lmao
I think the apps which were getting installed were not from Play Store these phones have their own app stores which keep on installing these apps you can disable them to prevent installing and it will reduce the lag too
Ahh Tracphone. I used to buy their under $20 smartphones 10 years ago. Great price back then for a fully functional android device to play around with. I think I still have a sealed one in my storage unit. The refurbished ones on their website were even cheaper.
Of course they were all 3g only phones do you didn't have to buy a separate SIM card. And sometimes I did have to buy the cheapest $5 airtime card to even order a refurbished unit. Still was only like $7 for the phone itself.
I actually bought the blue view 4 last year for 30 dollars, and have been using it while at home to not always be on my main driver, wearing the battery. The phone works perfectly fine! I've spent more for two people at fast food then I did on the phone, and I use it at least every other day for RUclips, Facebook, discord messaging etc
When content creators compare sizes, I almost never have the thing they compare it with. But I actually have a Pixel 8a phone, so I finally have an idea of how big this el cheapo smartphone is lol
fun fact: you can stop lag from slowing down the speed of geometry dash by turning off "smooth fix" in the settings so instead of the speed changing and the sync getting messed up when you lag, it just skips frames and stays synced
Honestly for 30 bucks this is better then a phone i got for 200 in 2016 I feel like with a better version of dolphin and some tweaked settings (alongside a better optimized game) this would do pretty okay
I think because they are downloading preloaded programs. Thats why this phone can be $30. Once the download is done, just delete everything you don’t want. I think it may go faster
To properly review these kinds of cheap phones is to update and download everything so that it doesn't stress the system much. Debloating also helps by uninstalling and disabling unnecessary apps. Even just being able to watch 480p RUclips videos for $30 with a headphone jack makes it worth it. I listen to a lot of audiobooks and listen to name RUclips videos with the screen off. The lack of a jack on most brand name phones means these cheap devices are a refuge for the 3.5mm jack.
