I'm happy to see someone actually using the kit lens. So many photographers do reviews on budget cameras w/o the kit lens, they'll put an L-series lens on it. Thank you.
Totally agree with you Joris.. everything has their limitation and designed for certain type of users. It's not the equipment that matter but knowing their capabilities and making use of it in the possible ways that could give you the nearest best result is important. I'm using only my mobile to create my videos and thumbnail and I have to say I've done my best to get what I want considering the limitation. You have covered almost all of it in this video Joris. Keep flowing it Bro! 👊😎
I recently purchased the canon m50 and I was so close to returning it because I just could NOT get the settings right!! Especially for the blurred background! Thank you so much!! You did great in this video
Hi.. I highly appreciat your stuff and they are so cool so much things to learn from them. I have canon M50 and its kit lens only so I'm thinking to buy 50mm 1.8. Normally when I shoot lowlights things with the kit lens it shows so much noise so even with the 50mm also it will happen the same or it will give me nice crispy videos? Please help me 🙏🙏
The video footage that you shot, for example, at 3:09 looks VERY film-like and to my eyes, looks like it could have been taken from a studio movie. Is this particular footage from the Canon M50 OR is it the Canon M50 Mark II? I only ask because the title says M50 BUT the link in the description says Mark II. So, this was shot with your Canon M50, the kit lens that comes with it, post-production, AND your talent & knowledge? Thanks in advance!
I totally agree, adding a speed booster with a prime lense will take your portrait photography to another level, discovered that through youtube, still waiting for that to happen 😂😂
so i am gonna buy a m50 soon….saving up for it…but the thing is i am scared if the quality is the same as an iphone 12. i want to use it for both photo and video..please help me and let me know if u recommend me to buy an m50 or it’s better to just shoot on an iphone 12?
It really depends on what you want to create. Content creation is definitely possible on an iphone but if you want to learn real filmmaking, so, lenses, camera settings, apertures, focal lengths, color profiles, color grading, ... you can only do that with a "real" camera.
Hey Joris, I know it's not your focus, but would you be able to do a video with this camera+kit lens (15-45mm) doing real estate photos? If not no worries. Thanks for your content. 🙏
why you can't blure the background with full frame without zooming I didn't understand, do we have zoom all the time to blure little bit the background then?
M50 is my dream camera planning to buy this December it is worth it to buy the Canon m50? Or do you have some suggestions to buy i like to cinematic scene and photography
Great video. It was nice that you focused on what the kit lens can bring to the table. Together with the 22mm pancake lens, the m50 can be a good small travel camera kit.
Hey, good choice! Maybe check what the rumours say about the Canon M50 Mark II. If I remember correctly it might come in a few months. Thanks for watching! 🙏
Does most of the photo's beauty come from the post processing? Compared to your pictures mine are mediocre even using the right iso, shutter and aperture.
The settings are just part of it. You also have to learn to predict what light does, backgrounds, composition. And then post processing is the cherry on top.
Thanks for this video. I've been looking at lots of videos about the M50 and trying to decide if it's going to work. I like shooting stills best, but am starting to do video as well. It's the quality of the stills that I wanted to be sure about. You and others basically confirmed my thoughts about the glass being the most important factor. I thought that 24 megapixel sensor should be fine. So, maybe the best thing is to buy the body used and get good glass? The only other consideration is the new version of the M50 that I've been hearing about. Decisions, decisions!! :-)
Nice Sir. 😊😊🥰 Sir, Which lens can I attach to canon m50 adapter to get better quality. I create videos on 28 to 32 focal length with good & enough lightiing. I create videos teaching on whiteboard. But I don't get good video quality even after good & sufficient lighting. Plz suggest me some better lens. I have canon EOS mount adapter that comes with canon M50.
@@JorisHermans Sir there is not enough brightness even with sufficient lights placed well. If words written on the whiteboard look good, then i dont. And if I increase ISO to make myself look good, then words begins to lose crispiness & sharpess.
Hitesh Kumar it seems like you have to try to light the board separatly. Start by lighting yourself properly first and once that’s done, add light on the board. Now, if there’s too much light on the board when you’re lit properly, you’re going to have to find a way to block some light to keep it from hitting the white board.
@@JorisHermans Ok Thank you so much Sir. May you make a lot of progress and touch great heights.!! 😊😊🥰 But sir If don't get better quality even after doing what you have suggested, then what lens I should buy for Canon M50 ? I'll try doing as you say. Thank you so much Sir.
It’s definitely not a lens problem but a lighting problem. It’s the white board that makes it difficult because it reflects a lot of light. And I don’t know it’s the case but if you have a darker skin color, that makes it even more difficult to get the right exposure. Definitely experiment with lighting first.
should have gone with a longer lens75-300 would give you a blurry background with bokeh at a lower f stop and around 1/80 or higher. you can only get this if you use manual mode.
Uhm, sure, but the point was to test the kit lens. Of course there are dozens of lenses that would do better... Question is: does everyone NEED those? Again, not the point of the video...

great tips. I use the 22mm to shoot my family.Love it.
