That speedbooster does seem to make a difference. I've got the exact same camera and lens and now I'm considering getting the speedbooster. This little camera has potential and you just proved it. Thank you so much for taking the time to go out and shoot some portraits with the M50!
I'm glad this helped! Got 2 more videos coming this month with the M50 for both video and photos! it's a powerful camera, punching way above its weight class as they say. :)
With the speedbooster, you may be able to use it in low light but I would not recommend it. Night time photography usually requires a camera that can provide clean images at high ISO values. The Canon M50 with it's cropped sensor will begin to introduce noise around ISO 1250.
@@mariodevon_ can confirm. I have been trying my best to shoot night photos for awhile. Can't get it without needing some heavy editing. Then I get a heavy plastic feel and some parts of my pictures become unusable or scuffed

Hello. What choice did you end up making? I have the same question now. I have an old 600D and want to upgrade. I love that the 77D has the controls that a photographer needs. The M50 doesn't have this and that makes me sad. However, the 77D is said not to have sharp FHD compared to the M50. This is true?
Honestly, I don't recommend just using these settings. Settings will depend on your environment and the focus of the shoot: Aperture: f/1.2 with SB, ISO 160, Shutter speed was very fast because of the harsh sunlight
Hey Jacob! I don't ever use presets. I edit in Lightroom for the most part without presets because each set of photos from a shoot will be approached differently.
I think it is a good starter camera. Just be sure to have fast enough lenses to fit the industry standard for fashion photography. But I greatly recommend something like the Canon RP for the full frame look.

What did you find out about this? I need to replace my old 600D. I'm choosing between a mirrored 77D and this M50. What will be a better acquisition in 2023?
Portrait mode is something you find on smartphones, and not cameras. I think you are referring to bokeh, which is background blur. The way you get bokeh is what a fast aperture lens that can go down to something like f/2.8. A common lens is the one I am using in the video, the 50mm f/1.8.
Hi there. Thanks for the video. Having a hard time figuring out how to record a video AND be able to capture photos at the same time 🤔. Any tips? I want to show people how to pose on camera so show them via video but be able to show them the still photo captured while I was moving.
Hey Daria! 50mm. F/1.2 with the Speedbooster. ISO 160. Shutter speed was adjusted based on exposure. I recommend not attempting to stick with these settings as your settings will change depending on your location and environment. Just a tip!
The adapter doesn't have any glass that will come between the lens. The speedbooster will get you closer a full frame look because of the magnifier. It will take you from 1.6x crop to about 1.2x crop.
Hey Ali, I didn't mention it because every shoot will require different settings. The settings are: Aperture f/1.2 (Speedbooster), ISO 160, Shutter speed is increased depending on exposure. Again, this is not relevant other than the aperture to get that background blur. Settings will be different in each shoot depending on the goal and environment.

Also, it is not a good low light camera. So I would not recommend the M50 for night photography either. Again, when you're ready for both of these sectors of photography, go for an affordable full frame option.

That’s awesome!!! Are the photos taken by the original kit lens of canon eos m50??
Hey Thi Thi! I always recommend not using the kit lens for anything other than vlogging. These photos were shot with the Canon 50mm f/1.8 STM with a Viltrox Speedbooster
Looking at one of these. I have a 5DIII but want something a little newer and something with video. The photos look great. How good is this compared to the 5D3. I generally use a 50mm and have considered a speedbooster to take this thing to the next level. Great video also, keep up the amazing work!
Sorry, wtf camera and lene do you use for this video? It realy great quality I'm very like it,. If it truly taken by Canon m50 plz use this video with tutorials plz
Haha! I got you on the M50 videography tutorials! But this video was shot on the Canon EOS R with the Sigma 35mm Art lens.
