As a Georgian I agree with your points. Sorry to hear about your experience in Dedaena. A note about the stabbed tourist from Poland: The attacker was known to have serious mental issues. I know that him roaming streets was a problem nonetheless, but that particular case was not about targeting foreigners. He was detained on site. Another thing about Georgia is, the country is so small, everyone knows every attack/murder case within minutes and hours and it's received as a shock. But statistically we're still in top 20 safest countries in the world.
About dogs. It is know that there are over 40k roaming dogs. The number is huge but it used to be worse before. Now they are sterilized and can't reproduce(note the chip on their ears). It's one of the problems that still remains after dark 90s.
As for smoking, funnily enough, our government just passed a bill this week about smoking in a vehicle, and in presence of underage. It was already a huge change when they banned smoking indoors years ago. I hears there's also a reform coming up regarding crazy driving manners, which you surprisingly missed in your video.
Lots of great points you made here. The driving isn't a con to me ---- I either take public transportation, walk, or the times that we hired a private driver, we just told him to drive slow and safe and they always abided by our wishes.
YOUR COMMENT about "RACISM" while understandable from an Anglo-Saxon American perspective, isn't a major issue in other countries. "White" Americans possess an arrogance that assumes their values ( 338 Million Americans ) should dictate to the rest of the 7.5 BILLION people in world, should follow the American perspective of pure egalitarianism, and what defines "RACISM".
THOSE OF US NOT AMERICAN are exposed FAR more than Americans to the concept of "Cultural Differences & Nuances"; some positive, some negative, but ALL undeniable.
The woman who refused to clean homes for Chinese, wasn't being "Racist"; she was merely expressing herself, perhaps because of past experience having noticed the negative cultural differences working for Chinese versus other cultures. Frankly, most Americans are clueless about the variety of "Asians" there are, and how even we "Asians" discriminate amongst ourselves.
CONSIDER THE CULTURAL DIFFERENCES, EVEN IN AMERICA: Even in America, Mexican-Americans, East-Asian Americans, South-Asian Americans, and Black-Americans, would NEVER (extremely rarely) send elderly parents off to a convalescent home. We care for our parents at home till the day they die. To do otherwise, is considered uncaring, unloving, and downright abhorrent. YET, it's the norm for White Americans to send their parents off in their geriatric years, to live away from the children they raised; supposedly for "Practical Reasons" (mainly convenience). That's just ONE major Cultural Difference WITHIN AMERICA!
While we are "Equal" in terms of inherent value, we are not "Equal" in terms of values. NOR should we subordinate our own unique culture to Americans. The term "RACIST" is so broadly thrown around, that it loses it's true meaning.
I’m so sorry you experienced that, even me as a Georgian was shocked and embarrassed to hear some of these things, it definitely ha shorten worse since last year, increased death, poverty, struggle has made people cold hearted. God help us 🙏🏻
We did notice a shift since we first arrived in March 2020, but I still think there are more good things to Tbilisi and Georgia in general than bad. :)
Are you from georgia 🇬🇪?
I'm not Georgian.
I’ll take dog poop vs human poop any day with all the homeless here in Los Angeles. Street light posts are eroding with all the human urine.
Wow! I've only been to LA on layovers so I'll take your word for it. Doesn't sound pleasant at all.
Hey if you think the homeless in Los Angeles is bad check out Kingston avenue in Philadelphia it's plenty of videos on RUclips about it crackheads dope fens people walking around like zombies etc you won't believe it. Im glad me and most of my money out of Philadelphia 20 plus years ago.

There's no water cuts, there's water repairs that sometimes happen and water gets shut off for the repairs, there's no rationing or anything like that, water is totally plentiful
Well, that even happened to me in New New. So if that’s why, understandable.
I appreciate your clarification. This is an important distinction!
That's not racism, that's cultural. The world is not as watered down as the US is. And many cultures like India and China have cultural elements that in the states if an American acted/behaved in the way they do you would loose your mind. Be absolutely disgusted with 9/10 times. Racism Shouldn't exist, but not everything is racist, because of preference. The Japanese's love foreigners, however they love their culture more, based on your standard the Japanese's would be next to Nazi, in how the Nazi wanted to wipe out the Slavic.
Nazi wanted to wipe out the Slavic?? What??? 😂😂😂😂🤦♀️
@@Lokichangchang1 They did. Slavs were considered Untermensch alongside Jews and Roma. Even the more conservative estimates put the number of Slavic people killed by the Nazi regime at ~5 million.
The Japanese were basically Nazis at one point
Wow, thank you so much for this honest perspective. Safe travels friends! 💖💖
Thanks for the kind words.
I've been to Tbilisi over 100 times. overall safety of Georgia is extremely safe. When comparing to my own US city. We have murders almost daily and Georgia has maybe 2 or 3 a year. I used to walk every night at 3am due my US work schedule. Never had any problems.
Racist remarks is true. My friend was a landlord he wouldn't rent to Indians due to the smell of their cooking. Coming from a northern state he was difficult to understand. But it's his place he really has no protections from the government if someone trashes the apartment. The water and power cuts are true. The city is extremely old and they need to shut the water off to make repairs. It's not a shortage of water. it's just the system is old they have no choice but to turn it off for repairs.
Yes to all of this. As I mentioned in the video, the pros of Georgia far outweigh the cons.
True about dog shit. And as you said, the dogs are very nice. One thing I always appreciate is that the strays aren't being sent off to shelters to be euthanized. So, to me, a fair trade off :)
YES ---- I love how well the stray dogs are taken care of!
yes some dogs are nice, but i have encountered many agressive dogs as well that bark and chase people for no reason agressively, my brother was bitten by one of those dogs as well when he was like 8. it can be very annoying when you are cycling as well... so no thanks does not sound like fair trade to me.
I wonder how an African-American (for example) would be treated in Georgia. Would he be “ok” because of his nationality, or discriminated based on his skin color? Would the signs apply to him?
Ironic you ask this. I'm not sure if you've seen other videos on my channel, but my boyfriend is Jamaican-American. He would get stopped and asked for his ID (the police wouldn't even ask me even though I'm standing right next to him), but as soon as he showed his American passport, then they would just wave him on through. In his words, "I had some unpleasant experiences, but I also had some AMAZING times in Georgia so you should definitely still check out the country."
IME you are just another African until you show that blue passport.
If you are non-white (especially of darker races, and possibly Chinese), you may get rude looks or bad service. You might get stopped. Wear an American flag or Canadian flag.
Georgians hate Blacks so be careful there
even if he would be discriminated in Georgie don't just point fingers until you solve your home country issue with this :D even though nowadays it is opposite if you are white man you having pretty rough time in US :D if you are white chick your still good :D :D
I agree with you when it comes to dog poo, but violence and racism you described?! oh, wow, it was brought up to the different level! we all agree that in every country there are racists, criminals, haters etc. but you must not generalize it over the nation and the country. I am sure you did not intend to do that but unfortunately, the comments I saw below really broke my heart as people who intended to come here are no longer willing to do so because of your video and the saddest thing is that the life in Georgia is not exactly like you described. In Georgia, there is no place where you can not go and visit due to safety reasons, the countryside is calm and relaxed, there is no suburb in cities where you would not dare to go(unlike the USA and many other developed countries), in overall this country is very safe for everyone. When you talk about Georgians attitude towards Indians and Chinese (again, it must not be generalized) it is rather cultural than racist , it is not because of their skin color or other attributes. Some of the landlords do not want to rent their properties to Indians because of the cooking, not because they look different from Georgians. Personally, I do not like working with some of the Chinese, because as a lawyer I could never negotiate the decent service fee with them as they wanted me to work practically for free- am I the racist to you now? :) On the other hand I had gorgeous South Korean tenants (mother and daughter), they were so sweet and respectful, really loved them ! Just for the record: 1. Water cuts are due to repairs not shortage; 2. China is one of the strategic ally :) 3. thousands of Indian students go to Georgian Universities; .4. None of those foreigners you mentioned were murdered because of where they came from. I would suggest that you did some fact check before you make your "dogged statements"
Thanks for sharing your experience and insights. Everyone has different experiences. This just so happened to be my experience in 2020 - 2021. As I mentioned, there are WAY more good things about Tbilisi (and Georgia as a whole) than bad.
You have a national problem of getting overly defensive at the slightest criticism. Learn to take feedback and use it to improve your developing little country.
I knew someone who cleaned for 2 chinese families, they bargained the hourly rate right down and frequently tried to renegotiate even further reduction, and so demanding in terms how much had to be done, where literally this person had to be running for a whole day to get everything done, and standa4d required was just unrealistic. When someone says they won't clean for Chinese, I can understand and don't consider this to be racist. I don't know why you have shown this person the "door" without perhaps going into this a bit deeper, but you do sound like a normal self righteous, sanctimonious westerner, more specifically Amerucan who feels morally superior.
and you just seem like a mean unpleasant person.
I've been living in Tbilisi now for almost 2 years. I Love it here! Yes, I don't like when the water is shut off and the power is out, but that's the only drawback of living in an apartment building/flat, especially when there are still new apartments under construction in your building.
I've never witnessed any violence, but then again, I don't go to places that could potentially be dangerous.
I always travel with friends, unless I'm just walking around my city. I moved from Didi Dighomi to Varketili (the air is so much cleaner and fresher in Varketili, and there are trees EVERYWHERE (unlike in Didi Dighomi)
As far as racism goes, it's THEIR CHOICE! I'm quite sure there is a valid reason why they don't trust those 3 races of people! There's A LOT of people I don't like or trust! Boo hoo!! Be better people, better humans, act civilized, and there would be FAR LESS racism!
Amazing! What prompted your move to Tbilisi?
I know its unfair and could be handled a bit more subtlety by enforcing their existing rules but the landlord I dealt with in Georgia had a no Indian or Chinese policy, he said that every time theyve rented apartments to an Indian or Chinese student/worker, within a month they started receiving noise and disruption complaints from neighbours that there were 5+ people living in the same 1 bedroom place. One 2 bedroom apartment they had got destroyed when there was a revolving door of 10 or more people living there for months after agreeing to rent it out to one guy, its the scenario theyre all afraid of. Could it happen with any nationality? Of course.
Thanks for sharing this perspective.
I am just glad that there are still countries that allow you to express your racial preferences. I have experienced Chinese tourists while traveling, and I would not want to clean for them either!
I think it's fine (I'm E. Asian, not Chinese), as long as they're not violent and straight forward about it. And it doesn't seem to be a racial thing, but "national" thing. It sounds like they're willing to rent to non-Chinese Asians. But if not, let it be known so everyone has a heads up.
Agree 100% There is no "WORK TO GO THROUGH" not everyone is as brainwashed on "EQUALITY" as the United States.
Yeah the way I see it, there is a reason for it for them to state it, they are just blanket banning the entire demographic to avoid them the stress or trouble of whatever it is that gave them a bad experience in the past
my friend ran a guesthouse in Thailand where two chinese girls were staying for a month. She cleaned their room daily and once I saw inside and it looked like a bomb had gone off. Shocking. So maybe its not so much about race as the amount of work involved...
exactly @@chris1082386
I am an American and was visiting Tbilisi for a month for work. I found Georgians to be incredibly rude contrary to what I had read prior to visiting. So rude that I would never visit the place again and would counsel tourists not to visit. Almost almost person I met was rude. Terrible people
Wow! You had quite an experience. What part of Tbilisi were you staying in for work?
I had the worst experience when we traveled to Tbilisi for sports. Due to being African. The racial discrimination was really bad that we were put in a holding cell between 15 - 16 hours upon our arrival in Tbilisi and later deported back. The other team mates were sent back within an hour of arrival. We have never forgotten the traumatic experience since Nov 2022. Especially that among the detained was a 16 year old in a holding cell shared by both genders no food and water for 16 hours. Just from the airport the staff are racists.
@@MBACHINYIRENDAGo preach tolerance to South Africa
Yes, very rude and an artificial sense of superiority which stems from inferiority. The worst place ever.

Everything she said is true but it's really single cases. Google Georgia's safety rank it's in top 5 safest countries in the world. Police works incredibly well and they are everywhere, you'll see that.

Any improvement on powercuts after 2 years? How often do you have power cuts? And how long do they last on average? Thank you 🙏
I'm not currently in Georgia so I'm unable to answer your questions. Sorry!
I would say powercuts are quite rare. Maybe once every 3 months and it lasts like minutes. And to be clear, if it happens, it happens due to accidents, there is no problem in supply.

You won't and no one is attacking foreigners in streets, it is not just true!

The dogs shit is unreal. Something really needs to be done about it.
I was quite surprised at the amount especially when they have the workers cleaning sidewalks daily.
its crazy i was there for 2 days couldn't wait to get out of there so racist and why there is wild dogs everywhere like i almost got attacked 6 times by wild dogs and why there is a city build around one street how is this a capital of a country at this point they should just join another country maybe they can be a village for another country they wouldn't change dollar in exchange shop cause of where I'm from and not single person outside of airport or hotel spoke english terrible currency like always have to carry bunch of coins with you everywhere it seemed like a very sad place in general i would never go there ever again won't let any of my friends go either just awful.
I found the stray dogs to be super friendly. I'm curious what street you think the whole city is built around.
I don't think it's fair to expect them to speak English as English isn't their native language.
Agree, one of the worst places I have seen.
💥 💥 you said you were thrown for a loop because you saw 13 and 14 year old smoking, you from America. I see teenagers all the time in America smoking weed, cigarettes etc
Why would it take you for a loop that you saw 13 or 14 teenager smoking in Tbilisi Georgia
People here America don't like Chinese people either you should hear some of the stuff I've heard people say about Chinese people.
One of my co-workers who's black he can't stand Chinese people he said Chinese people don't like black people so why should we like them? I didn't have an answer for him🤷🏿♂️
Also a lot of the crime that you mention that's the norm here in America that's nothing
I haven't lived in the US for 6+ years now. I'm sure you can imagine the multiple reasons behind that.
I think all countries have pros and cons. This video just happened to be about my opinions on the cons in Tbilisi.
Friend of mine does not rent certain nationalities and honestly I get her point. Every single time they left her apartment she found so much garbage she had to clean 2~3 days in a row not to mention they broke a lot of stuff and of course they never paid for any of the damages . I do agree about a dog shit too many stray dogs
Don't you leave deposit when moving in and have to clean the apartment when moving out? In my country if you leave an apartment like a pigsty you will lose your deposit, which is much more expensive than hiring someone to clean in.
Super helpful thanks

I love dogs, and the dogs in Georgia are pleasant but stray dogs and dog poops everywhere not acceptable. It's a hazard. People can step on it and falls, broken bones, etc. Horrible drivers that passengers don't know if will be alive at the end of the trip. There are several videos people complaining about dog poops and dog bites. So it turned off these issues in Georgia. Now, about the owner of hotels, accommodations. I think owners should be entitled to choose who they accept to rent to prevent problems or repeating bad experiences with some kind of people. When some kind of people gives bad behavior to others then they won't be welcome.
Dog bites? That kind of surprises me! I didn't witness any dogs being aggressive and even thought the strays were friendly.
Yeah. There were other videos showing these events. Most of the dogs are very carismatic. But "sh.... happens"@@uniquetraveladventures

Slampig berates other cultures for having racial standards but no convenient infrastructure - Could there be anything more superficially American than this? For your next trip go to Rotherham UK or Chicago; let us know how multiculturalism works out for you.
I agree. It's a positive for me that a country protects its heritage and culture. Being from the UK I can see first hand how multiculturalism has dominated and destroyed vast parts of Britain, forever. It can never be how it was, and it's certainly not progress.

Guess what I just booked flight and apt in Tbilisi and I heard your useful video! Or lord save me
That's amazing to hear! When do you plan to arrive?
Don't afraid of anything. I HAVE BEEN 5 TIMES. LOVE THIS COUNTRY!
Thanks for your video. I was almost finalizing the idea of going to Georgia until your video. I will not be going. Because a country is not just about being pretty. It's also about personal safety & people problems. Many RUclips videos keep praising the country but nobody has even properly mentioned the water cuts and power cuts (as if it's only a small issue among the "pros"). Your list of cons definitely outweigh the "pros". And the part about harassment of women, this was also mentioned by another female RUclipsr who has left Georgia. Your video was last year 2021. Now it's July 2022. I doubt people change in a few months. So racism, harassment & violence (& with weapons) are still valid points in considering Georgia. With such issues, Georgia should remain as unknown as it has been. RUclipsrs shouldn't keep promoting the country by hyping it up as a great destination. Their government lacks control over its people, or rather the people don't respect their government (or the lack of law), as evidenced by traffic violations where nobody obeys the traffic light.
Thanks for taking the time to write out this thoughtful reply! I left Georgia in October 2021 so I really don't know how much of these cons are still in existence, but yes, what I talk about in this video very much was my experience.
I personally would still go back to Georgia as for me the pros still outweigh the cons, but definitely things to keep in mind!

Not right now. I left towards the end of 2021 and just haven't had a chance to come back yet.
I'm sure the landlords have experience, hence the preference.
The smoking and water shut offs would keep me from living there full time.
The violence, that sounds like a large city in America. I look at crime maps before I visit a city, D.C. was a lot of theft and knife crime. I had no incident, but it's so common, it would not have shocked me if I had encountered a violent crime.
As I mention in my video, the pros far outweigh the cons of living in Tbilisi.
Why they don't want to clean for Indians or Chinese??
That is a fantastic question.
Maybe because they leave huge mess after themself. Would you rent to someone who will destroy your house or make it smell so much that you need to change wall papers. Never nothig is without reason. If some people get too drunk because is cheep chacha and vine and not control themself than it's perfect target for criminals in any country.

But Georgia is an ethnostate we've been living here for more than 10 000 years. We have our own unique culture which is very direct and we take pride in it. Georgia is not for everyone. This country is for ethic Georgians and other peoples of European descent. This is the place where Europe began. First Europeans were discovered in Dmanisi, Georgia. - The Park you were struggling with around the 7th Minute of the Video, is called Dedaena Park (Motherlanguage Park) - You made some great observations. - a lot of cleaning people, come from a lower educational background, often from villages. So maybe the lady you were interviewing experienced a lot of complaints from local villagers offering homemade goods made with love and Chinese people bringing in a lot of low quality plastic junk which destroyed a lot of businesses because people would opt for cheaper options...perhaps even her family business (hence why she has to go to clean now) was amongst them. I would try to get to the root of it and see where her fear stems from, rather judge and dismiss her straight and perhaps you could even contribute to educating her in some way, so she feels less prejudiced... There are a lot of reports how Chinese workers messed up the roads leading to a lot of villages and constructing - also I just stumbled upon this article eurasianet.org/chinas-footprint-in-georgia-causes-anxiety which might be worth a read, if you care - as to the water situation and electricity situation I hope it will improve soon...I remember it used to be a lot worse electricity wise. - as to general racism and homo/transphobia we have progressive youngsters so things are improving in that regard, it's just a matter of time... LIKED the video. => it would be awesome to hear some of your thoughts on our videos as well, as you seem thoughtful and observant. Have a wonderful Sunday1
