Italy, I’ve stayed in a little village called Castel Vittorio, there’s not much to do but it’s a cozy medieval village, then you could drive to Bordighera and walk around in their old town.
It's not though. All things are intertwined. It might help you feel good to say that but ultimately the government are made of people from the country.
@@canismajoris6733 Yes, in Iran an Irish tourist was recently arrested and sentenced to 10 years in prison on spy charges because he was taking pictures of the country. This guy sugar-coated A LOT . Saying that a country is safe because nothing happened to him is just a plain fallacy. It can be indeed a beautiful country with nice locals but would you risk getting arrested out of nowhere and being thrown in jail without even a fair trial, just for the sake of "nature and hospitality"? A country may be safe on the a street level, but what do you even do when government itself is the bad guy?

I am literally crying tears of joy dear Drew. As a Persian/ Iranian, it is a great honour to be ranked #2 out of 179 countries! Literally amazing! I've always wished more people would come to Iran and discover this ancient gem that literally shaped the world starting 3000 years ago with the Achaemenids, then the Parthians, then the Sassanids, and since the Islamic golden age Persia was the biggest contributor to arts, poetry, architecture, design, science, mathematics and so much more... Thank you Drew I love you from your Iranian brother 😊❤️
We Indians love Iranians too❤. We share a lot in common. Nowadays many Iranians come here to study. Also we have the largest Zorastrian population in the world, and they are our pride(we call them "Parsee"). They have given us gems like Homi Jehangir Bhaba, JRD Tata, Dadabhai Naoroji, Freddie Mercury etc. Love Persian culture, both muslim and non-muslim❤
As an Iranian born, raised there, it makes my heart so happy it's one of your faves. Politics ruined the character of Iran, but beneath that, its exactly as you described it. Cheers. ❤
Despite what some might think, most people in the US want to work towards normalizing relations with Iran. We have a lot of respect for the people of Iran, Persian history and culture. I hope to visit someday.
i could honestly listen and watch drew talk about the different countries he’s been to for hours and hours and i’d never get bored. unfortunately it is very difficult for me to travel, but through your videos i learn so much about different cultures, cuisines, people and landscapes. it’s so interesting, fascinating and important. i really appreciate it! 🙏🏼
@@drewbinsky you’re awesome, Drew & I love how open-minded you are & don’t let western misconceptions dictate your decisions & experiences. That’s why you are greatly appreciated.
The portion of Afghanistan made me suddenly start crying involuntarily. Seeing those clips and hearing your words made me wish how much I had the opportunity to experience that country the way you did. I spent a couple years cumulatively in Afghanistan as a Marine and then as a contractor, but my experiences were vastly different. Despite being there in a different capacity, one of the things I remember most is how gorgeous that country is, and how varying the terrain is depending on where you are. Sunrises in the mountains and valleys in the Nangarhar & Kunar provinces will always stay with me. I would have loved to see where the Buddha’s stood, but the country was surrounded by history everywhere. I remember coming to land our helicopter at a small FOB south of Kabul and having a guy point to an old structure on top of a small hill and yelling “f*cking Alexander the Great, dude.” I remember taking a picture of the old fort from a distance and thinking how neat it would be to go walk through there and think about the history of that spot. The most kind and deserving people ever. One of my happiest memories is of when we gave a pack full of random books to a local villager in our area. The tears of joy and him wiping them away and asking us to take his picture with us and the books. He was learning English and hoped to come to the U.S. one day with his family. His only way of practicing English was with troops and old pages from magazines and other reading stuff he had collected over time. Giving him that bag of random books was like a pathway to his dream in that moment. It’s interesting now, looking back at all the people you met in what feels like an entirely separate life, and thinking where they’re all at now. How many got out, how many are hiding, how many are dead. All displaced. That said, those are some of the toughest people I’ve ever met so I have hope. Inshallah, right? Thank you for the memories, and I couldn’t be happier that I’ve stumbled across your page.
As a Persian, no offense to you, I found it quite insulting to be said we're similar to Afghans! Vast majority of Iran's population is educated! There are more than 2000 universities all over Iran and some of the best schools of the world like Sharif university. Majority of Iranian either don't believe in Islam and dont identify themselves as Muslim specially among the young generation of Iran (exactly opposite in Afghanistan). Iran's cusine, literature and cultre is incomparable with Afghans and you mentioned it's similar! They're not! Iran government is to blame for all these.

Filipinos are so used to disasters that even when the greatest flood in the Philippines happened (see Typhoon Ondoy), the people were still laughing and merrily singing happy birthday to a birthday celebrant even though the first floor of their house was already submerged. The Filipinos know that any disaster that they encounter is just temporary. As long as no one dies (or the house totally destroyed), then there is no need to be depressed.

@@sleepnomore6065 There is such a strong negativity bias portrayed in the media, especially regarding failed states such as Venezuela. All we seem to hear about from outside the country is how awful it is. What the media does not care to show is the rich culture, lovely people, and beautiful landscapes of Venezuela. A government, no matter how bad it may be does not define the people. In fact, the terrible government has united the people in solidarity against it which I have seen strongly in my own personal circles. We can’t ignore the issues that take place but we shouldn’t dwell on them either. I can’t describe why Venezuela is such a special place. It’s something that must be experienced.

Just a clarification, the archaeological site of Teotihuacan is not part of the Mayan culture and not even of the Aztec one. @@islalakwatsa4730 Yes I have, I've been to the Philippines 4 times and I love it there! It makes me feel at home.
And you are always welcome to Turkey, Istanbul and Izmir are the main cities I would recommend to tourists, these cities are the biggest metropolitan cities and you can find all sorts of Turkish cuisine there. (and of course in other provinces)
This awesome! So nice to hear your thoughts about all these places! Philippines is SUPER high on my list!!!
Hey Drew! The Philippines already grew to 7,640 islands! There were additional 531 discovered islands to explore! 😄
Wow that's incredible! 💪
Philippines is a magical country, it just sad that government are corrupt back then. one of the most beautiful country in the world.

I have visited 124 countries turkey is definitely my favorite country.. they have wonderful beaches best night clubs the people are amazing the best cuisine in the world.. I go every summer.. Antalya , Marmaris, bodrum.. damn I can't wait to go back..

As an Iranian I've always loved Afghan people and felt close to them..
I feel like pur culture is really close and I'm happy to see us next to eachother in this video. I really am sad for them and for us and I home everything gets better soon.
Iran and Afghanistan are strengthening ties. The railroad connection has been completed so trade will increase between the two countries but also the old silk road from China via AFG Iran Turkey to Europe is being worked on, inshaAllah. Can you imagine traveling to China train via AFG and vice versa? So, let's be optimistic :)
Iran being the second on the list just tells A LOT!!!
Absolutely happy to hear that you enjoyed your trip to Iran, looking forward to seeing you soon in Iran.
I'm actually going to the Philippines for one year to help out at a charity project starting this summer, seeing them at #1 makes me more excited to go there!

I didn't expect to see my country Venezuela in this list. Thank you for sharing the side of the country that news don't talk about and enjoying the culture. Unfortunately I had to migrate just like millions of Venezuelans but it makes me feel proud to see you mentioning us in the top 5 and as your fav country in the American Continent!!

I'm Brazilian and I'm very eager to visit your country, I'm just waiting for some political stability. This video made me even more curious.
We have the same sad story, shitty Gov, and people who wants to live a normal life. From Iran/Persia. On my behalf pass my love to your people except fucking Madoro.
I'm from Brazil and I hope one day I'll get to visit each and everyone of these countries. Our world has so much beauty and diversity, nature and people wise.
And I hope to visit your beautiful country one day!! I have always, since I was a little kid, wanted to travel to Brazil!
Brazil is one of my favorite countries.
I think it's sad how most tourists think Brazil is only Rio and SP, when there are so many beautiful places that not even brazilians go to! Lençois Maranhenses, Bonito, Fernando de Noronha, Gramado... I've also been to a cruise in the amazon river that leaves from Manaus and it's amazing, you get to swim with pink dolphins and the food is wonderful of course. You also get to know native indigenous people and see a lot of nature.
@@marianat1393 Wow I think you know Brazil better than I do. Just imagine being in the Amazon rain forest, swiming with "botos" and contacting indigenous population. The food up there is also pretty special. They make fish dishes like no one else. I envy you! You're totally right. Actually, I wouldn't recommend São Paulo to anyone (despite being a cultural hotspot, with great cuisine and entertainment options). There are some places in my bucket list that I hope to visit soon: Chapada Diamantina, Pantanal, Chapada dos Veadeiros, Serra da Capivara, Lençóis Maranhenses and the Northern region. If you are planning a visit to Brazil, then I recommend exploring the beautiful state of Minas Gerais. I went there recently (Diamantina, Belo Horizonte, Serra do Cipó, Santuário do Caraça) and it was one of the best trips of my life.
I agree 100% with Mexico. I went for the first time in 2022 and absolutely fell in love with it. I can’t wait to go back to Mexico. I would love to go more into Mexico and do so much more!!
And that’s why you’re the Philippines’ most favorite travel vlogger ❤️
As someone who’s Mexican (viva México 🇲🇽) and married to a Venezuelan 🇻🇪- this video makes my heart so full & happy!
I can’t wait to visit my husband’s homeland and he suggested for your next visit to go to Mérida! And I would say in Mexico go visit Guadalajara because the food is to die for! Love the videos!
También Taxco y Acapulco! Disculpa, soy de Guerrero viviendo en Tejas. 😂
I put a smile on my face when I hear positive comments about my country. Everyone is welcome in our little home Mexico 😊

Also thanks for the good comments about our hispanic brother Venezuela. 🇲🇽❤️🇻🇪
Mexico is getting a lot of love from travellers right now! I mean, it usually is but now more than ever!
Where I’m from in east Canada, most of us spend our vacation at Mexican resorts or the Caribbean. Unfortunately most don’t leave the resorts so they don’t really experience the country, just the beaches that cater to tourists (I personally haven’t been to Mexico but there’s so many places there I’d love to see)
@@theaverageguytraveller7253 I agree with you. I hope you can visit Mexico one day Canadian friend. Your country is very beautiful!

I’m from Southern California and consider myself lucky to live this close to Mexico. It’s a wonderful country with amazing people. Exploring the towns in the inland mountains is a must for any traveler.
Mexico is so great!
Its so cool to see Namibia on this list, it was my dream country to go to since I was a child, something magical keeps pulling me towards it.
Venezuela truly is magical. There is no place in the world quite like it. It’s been 5 years since I’ve been there, and I want to go back so bad. Even though I was born and raised in the US, as a Venezuelan myself, there’s something about it that gravitates me. It really feels like home. I hope things improve over there, I know I’ll absolutely move there if they do.
I honestly can't imagine, given their regime and current crisis. Can you explain the appeal? I would be afraid to go, and for context I've been to 5 South American countries solo, 3 said to be quite dangerous
I’m not asking you or anyone to visit Venezuela, but I encourage you to look beyond what the media portrays and see a the richness behind my country.
Fear might discourage some, but those who live beyond it live the kind of lives that most only dream of.
Venezuela, are you kidding? This guy is joking ir he’s high , that country is a DUMPSTER surrounded by dirty favelas and a lots of ghettos
@@ArmyFrog Unfortunately, the appeal and charm that Venezuela had is either gone or disappearing. Maduro rigged the election and basically half the country has already fled to other countries. I'm not sure what the future will hold for Venezuela, but it doesn't look good.

What i like of this video is how Drew literally put countries like Iran, Afghanistan, Venezuela that all the media says they are the worse places in the world and not visit at all, travel all over the world really kills stereotypes
A bot copied your comment
Yep, although these countries may be in unfortunate situations, they are often still amazing places that travellers love. There’s so much more to a country than political situation or poverty. Fully agree
I think he is being quite stupid. Any country where you cant walk around at night with freedom would not make my list. Afghanistan? Really? Its essentially a war zone. Its just plain showing off.
@@charlestownlawfirm5247 Did you even watch the video? He said he wouldnt reccomend it at the moment because of the problems happening now. Nothing show off about that. As for before the taliban takeover he loved it.
Yes, but Drew did great injustice to numerous other countries and not see many counties properly. For example. I love Greece as it has everything a country could have. Drew has Lebanon, Turkey and phillipines in his list. But Greece is literally a perfect combination of these countries combined. And what did he see of Greece? Almost nothing.
And this is a metaphor for so many other countries he visited in a very poor way

They are open for tourism now. Let's gooooo
Idk i find your profile pic hilarious 😂
Ube is not even common food in the Philippines. It is expensive most Filipinos can’t afford it. The ube is only known because of an ice cream flavor.
Umm no it's not...an ube jar only cost around 200ish pesos and no über is know because of Ube halaya and ube bread not to mention ube isn't necessarily rare you can find it on SM for 150P and bakeries for 200 a jar
Love UBE so much
I love how gracious and kind you are about the people of these other countries. As Americans we often get the reputation for being ethnocentric (rightly so, in my opinion), so I appreciate the level of respect you're showing to others. The world is better when we realize how much we have in common and how much we can learn from other cultures.
Great video! loved your list, and I hope to visit all of those places one day. My favorite place, hands down, is Greece. So much history, the Greek people are very warm and friendly, (and most understand English) the gorgeous topography and beaches, and, of course, the amazing food!
