After visiting developed economic areas in China, it is natural that a visit to a country like Georgia will be a culture shock for you. However, Georgia offers something very beautiful, let's not forget that it has a very rich history, and the Georgian alphabet is very interesting.
The damaged buildings you saw are more than 100-200 years old and have cultural heritage status. Changing their facades, renovations require huge bureaucratic procedures, and sometimes years of waiting, which also involve large sums of money. My relative has been trying for more than a year to get approval to renovate the facade of the house. Unfortunately, the government does not have a unified plan to solve this problem.
Hello from Bulgaria, guys, Georgia is such a beautiful place, lots of history. It combines so many cultures that you have already seen and experienced. And Steve stop calling it cheese pizza :) but I agree it's even better for breakfast the next day
I just got back from Tbilisi, Georgia from visiting my girlfriend for the first time and I have to say…It stole my heart. The people are so warm and full of love with all walks of life. If you’re a lover of the outdoors, you’re surrounded by foothills/mountains for hiking and winter sporting. Not far at all from bodies of water for water sports. The food quality is so pure with authentic ingredients that you can taste! Really thinking about relocating to Georgia. Thanks for this awesome video and to the Native Georgians that has made my experience so amazing.
I was in Georgia a few months ago. Visited Tblisi and the win region east of Tblisi. The balconies over the streets in the old town quite cool. Baku's old town also similar in style from Tbilisi's. Food and wine of course healthy and delicious. While in Tblisi, I spent time browsing the Dezerter Bazaar. I highly recommend checking out the Dezerter Bazaar. That was a fun visit. In Dezerter, I had fun conversing with a few of the fresh spice and food vendors in the multi-story market right in the center of the Bazaar area. Spoke to a couple of babushka sellers in both German and Russian. Last but not least, I tried homemade red sweet wine from one of the vendors. The sweet wine was delicious, and ended up purchasing that in a 1,5 litre plastic bottle ; the same type of plastic bottle used to sell bottled water. From the same vendor, I sampled moonshine chacha. As you may know, chacha is a pomace brandy made of a fermented combination of grapes mixed with olive oil that ends up being at least 50% alcohol. As you can imagine, if you drink one or two shots of chacha, that will really make you go cha-cha!! The wine in Georgia, I have found is really heavenly. As a matter of fact, I think I like the Georgian wine even better that what comes from France or California. After a tour of a few wineries in the Kharkeli wine region, it is plainly seen how meticulously crafted Georgian wine is (the way they carefully control the temperature of the storage vessels; the way they let wine ferment in vessels underground, even the shape of some of the bottles for retail sales, etc...). Everything sampling of wine I had tasted excellent. I came to Tblisi via Georgian Airways via Amsterdam. Georgian Airways does not have a good reputation, plus the airfare is pretty expensive for basic service. As of this writing, Georgian Airways only have 7 airplanes in their fleet, thereby not offering daily flights. However, they do have convenient time slots for non-stop flights from Amsterdam, Paris, Vienna on the days they do provide service. On my Amsterdam flight, the positive was that the aircraft was spotlessly clean and departed on time and got to Tblisi a bit head of schedule. Unfortunately, Georgian Airways did not have any entertainment for a 4.5-5 hour flight, plus they did not serve much in the way of refreshments. Some might find the seats in a Georgian Airway airplane hard and uncomfortable. In a nutshell, on the day of my Georgian Airway flight, they did transport passengers to Tblisi fairly comfortably, plus the views over the Georgian countryside approaching Tblisi is simply spectacular! Overall, Georgia is a destination that deserves a lot more attention as a great tourist destination that it is getting. My website www.schnitzing.com

Big thumbs up for your way of experiencing different cities and cultures, and always being energetic and honest! Tbilisi is also on my travel list, you guys motivated me to keep exploring the world. Keep on going and thanks for creating such good content!!❤❤❤
Thanks for this great video. As a Georgian I'm really glad, that you enjoyed the city and food. There are tons of beautiful and magnificent places in Georgia, which, I hope, you'll enjoy. Wish you nice staying in Georgia ❤❤❤
It is very delightful that you visited my country. It's name is actually Saqartvelo, but foreigners know it as Georgia. Saqartvelo is a country of a very great and long history. It is a place where antique society used to live. The western part of saqartvelo was antique kolkheti , the country which existed the same time as ancient Greece. Kolkheti was very very rich, more rich than ancient Greece. Tbilisi is a fair city, but if you would like to get to know to real spirit of qartvelian culture, you should come to Kutaisi. This town has existed since antique time. It trully has an aura of some different feeling and existence. I am from Kutaisi and I can assure you that is is incredible. Also, as the owner of the channel has pointed out some buildings in Saqartvelo are not renovated. It is becasue of hard times my country went through. Future is ahead of us so hopefully we will be able to build a beautiful country with love, welcoming people and special spirit. I am glad that this place is an attraction for tourists. Lots of love and respect from me. Thank you very very much for visiting.
Oh! Didn’t some of you guys forgot that kobuleti is a thing? The bald guy with 1 eye is actually my dad 😆 😂 he works for the kobuleti hotel Names in Georgia: Tbilisi =თბილისი Names in Georgia: Kobuleti =ქობულეთი Names in Georgia: Kutaisi= ქუთაისი

Kudos to you my friend you got the essence of Georgia straight off the bat. Btw the leaning clock tower wasnt actually damaged, it was built that way as a part of Marionette theater by famous Georgian Director/Film Writer and a very talented great artist Rezo Gabriadze
Tbilisi literally means the warm place due to its natural balmy underwater springs (sulphuric). As for the neighbourhoods that seem cracked are to be renovated and actually people did not do any renovations because of historical value of those buildings. They do not represent their poverty. People living they may be the richest in the city actually. The renovation started several years ago but because there are so many buildings like that it has not reached some of those neighboruhoods too. Blame the lame government. A very nice vlog! As a Georgian I am truly impressed!
Hey, thanks for visiting our country, you're welcome here anytime mate. just one correction since you mentioned it this many times. You're in the part of so called ''old Tbilisi", it means most of the buildings out there are more then 100 years old, so obviously they look old. We try not to touch (renovate and make it ugly) till they stand by itself, to keep their old historical look as long as possible. When its about to become problematic we go and fix it.
Aw you two are so cute. Love the video. I'm here in Tbilisi now too, for one month. Thinking about renting a car myself to explore the surrounding areas. Have fun!
Georgia is love ! ❤ After 2 year break I’m ready to visit again it’s just I was so impressed with it - next time I come I need to take someone with me to see this beautiful country ❤
The urban area where you are staying called Sololaki, is actually the most expensive place to live in. Most of those buildings are protected by the Tbilisi cultural heritage site, 1 bedroom apartment (30-40sq) costs a minimum of $150k (not renovated) and a 3 bedroom apartment can cost up to 3-4 Million dollars (or more). Imagine what their prices will be after Georgia joins EU and NATO 😅
Most buildings in central Tbilisi have a status of cultural heritage. The government doesn't allow the owners to refurbish them on their own. The plan has to be approved by the Ministry of Culture. Which in turn takes months and years of bureaucracy. Hence, the result is what you see here.
I’ve heard for the longest time that Georgian food is awesome, but there’s no Georgian restaurant where I live! I’m hoping to try it in Montreal, they seem to have a couple of Georgian restaurants there.
im so happy people are visiting my contury and leaving positive feedback :) by the way, in georgian culture, everyone used to love guests and does love guests to this day, so if you want to visit someone go ahead! For us its a pleasure to see guests come around.
Hi im from tbiisi and tysm for complimenting my city and food btw the cheese pizza kinda thing is called ,,ხაჭაპური'' ,,khatchapuri'' and yea i agree o u its like rlly rlly delicious 😄😄😄😄
the point is that in Old Tbilisi owners cannot even replace old windows by new ones, because it is prohibited by law and you need to acquire a special permission
It’s true, their buildings are old and worn out like the hotel I stayed in in Tbilisi, the surrounding is also dark but lo and behold the hotels interior was so beautiful that I really didn’t expect it. Literally don’t judge a book by its cover…
There is no chineese dumpling. Mongols took this "Khinjali" from Georgia Centuries ago and it spread in China ;) . The main thing is that "khinjali" was made in Georguan mountains even 2.000 years ago and filling was just chopped lamb - not beef and pork - like in modern "khinkali".
The issue with old buildings in the central neighbourhoods like Mtatsminda and Vera is that they are part of cultural heritage which means the owners aren't allowed to renovate or rebuild anything it's the city's prerogative and the city isn't doing anything so we are forced to live in these conditions and hope for the best.
Those are some of the oldest buildings in Tbilisi and you're not allowed to renovate them, those are kind of special status buildings and the government/city hall needs to approve renovations and they won't approve it, they should mediate it so historical value isn't lost, and for that, you need a lot of money that people don't have, even those with brand new cars.
I'm georgian and I live your videos thank you loving our culture next time can you visit achara it's near sea and it has lot of beatifull hotel and you can visit mountains which is very beatifull

As a Georgian, I cant really seem to explain a simple fact that people here will do absolutely nothing to work on external aesthetics of houses they build but spent 99% of budget on what i going on inside the house....
You stayed in the old town. Those buildings are historical and can't be repaired without a permit from the mayors office and it has to be restored by a qualified restorer. So it's difficult for an average citizen to do it. - If you wanted more cozy modern neighborhood you had to go to Vake or Saburtalo.
Come in Tskaltubo, It is In Georgia also, near the Tbilisi, there are many beautiful places to see. but Tskaltubo is the most beautiful in summer and autumn
Your depction of Tiblissi is perfect. The old town is very charming, even in its (or because of it) elegant decadence. Unique architecture with real old houses revealing open wide its history and character, unlike some fake old buildings we've seen in the China series. What a nice town, Tiblissi! Georgia promisses great videos ahead.
Hi, from Georgia here. Glad you visited our country, it's a country worth seeing and getting to know. You used the phrase "politically motivated" to describe the drawings/street art in the city on ongoing Russian disinformation and aggression in Ukraine and Georgia. I understand that the usage of the phrase was spontaneous and not planned out and used intentionally. That said, the phrase kind of has a negative connotation (at least to me), when the street art you referred and showed in the video (and many more) is rooted in freedom, liberty and love for our country. Just a friendly reminder 😊
Absolutely interesting country. As a Romanian, I know quite few things about Georgia, about their recent war with Russia, where they seemed insanely brave, their love for wine [which they claim they invented] and they beating our a$$ in rugby on a regular basis. Looking forward to the next videos, cheers!
Enjoy my city bro. Have fun. One small tip always call cab/taxi from application and never on the street, thats incase if ur traveling significant distance, otherwise use public transportation, you can get a card at entrance of subway stations.
This part of the buildings in the video is part of Old Tbilisi, which means it was built in the last century. Accordingly, the buildings are in a state of disrepair. Some have the status of cultural monuments. What you are looking at is Sololaki - old Tbilisi area.
Steve and Ivana = JOY simple, unpretentious fun with some cool history thrown in. 🤗😊 I am also very hungry now - in Quebec - for Georgian food!!! 😋🤪😳 I want some!!!!

Thanks for recording video on my counntry❤❤❤❤❤❤❤️🇬🇪
Your depction of Tiblissi is perfect.
The old town is very charming, even in its (or because of it) elegant decadence.
Unique architecture with real old houses revealing open wide its history and character, unlike some fake old buildings we've seen in the China series.
What a nice town, Tiblissi!
Georgia promisses great videos ahead.
Hello, hello! Welcome in Europe, Ivana&Steve!!
Thanks that was interesting to see someone's first impression of our culture
Gamarjoba from georgia❤️ I'm glad you enjoyed the experience
I really liked Georgia seen through the eyes of a foreigner. It was very interesting, I will watch your other videos. ❤
it looks like a beautiful city with lots of potential to become a major tourist spot in Europe
Absolutely interesting country. As a Romanian, I know quite few things about Georgia, about their recent war with Russia, where they seemed insanely brave, their love for wine [which they claim they invented] and they beating our a$$ in rugby on a regular basis. Looking forward to the next videos, cheers!
antimos iverianus was georgian )))
Silviu Bindea ❤❤
P.S. mulțumešc
😂❤
@@anakacharava4159 I will assume this smiley is because of how hard Georgia beat our asses at rugby 45-3 in the European semis :)
@@ipostaze2 Yes, you got it right.😂 I hesitated to say. 😆Much respect to our Romanian brothers. Georgians love you.☺️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for good comments and visit us again, always welcome.
Enjoy my city bro. Have fun. One small tip always call cab/taxi from application and never on the street, thats incase if ur traveling significant distance, otherwise use public transportation, you can get a card at entrance of subway stations.
Great video,
Can't wait for more videos of Georgia.
Can you easily get by with just English in Georgia (I see some English signs?
Cheers

This part of the buildings in the video is part of Old Tbilisi, which means it was built in the last century. Accordingly, the buildings are in a state of disrepair. Some have the status of cultural monuments. What you are looking at is Sololaki - old Tbilisi area.

Thanks! Welcome to Georgia ❤
I am Georgian, thanks to seeing my country ❤😮☺️
