Hey everyone! A number of people in the comments have been skeptical about the laptop shown in the video (and rightly so!), stating that the video being sponsored and me being a content creator would mean Dell Outlet cherry picked the perfect specimen to be showcased. To clear it up, I was assured by Dell Outlet that I did recieve a random sample as any other customer would (I specifically asked them about this). There's no way to prove this, but I wouldn't have taken on this sponsorship if I didn't do my own research prior and found that a lot of people have bought good products at big discounts in the past. If you've been watching me for any amount of time at all, you should know that I wouldn't recommend something if I wouldn't use it myself or recommend it to my own friends and family (which I have!). See here for testimony from people other than me:
    www.reddit.com/r/Alienware/comments/saxt1s/is_the_dell_outlet_any_good/
    www.reddit.com/r/Dell/comments/jwmars/is_the_dell_outlet_good/
    www.reddit.com/r/Dell/comments/931bxk/opinions_on_the_dell_outlet_refurbished_xpss/
Of course there will be some negative reviews and testimony out there as well, but you get that with any company or product, but keep in mind, people are more willing to leave a negative review than they are a positive one when something works no problem. Dell Outlet has been around awhile, and the main goal of this video was to shed light on it. Whether you buy something from Dell Outlet or not doesn't affect me at all, I don't receive any affiliate comissions for driving sales. I'm just doing what I've always done on this channel, and that's to show ways you can potentially save money.
    -Danny

Hey Danny, just wanted to say I fully support you with this video and would also be going through the scratch and dent section if South Africa had a branch haha. Love secondhand and refurbished technology, a lot of times the issue that got repaired is something that will happen to an entire batch at some point and having that already fixed gives me more peace of mind than buying new and not knowing how well the batch I receive is going to operate before having some minor fault I either have to repair myself or RMA.

Video idea: budget permitting, you should anonymously buy another laptop from Dell Outlet, preferably the same model, so you could compare what they hand-picked for you as a RUclipsr vs what they would send to a "random" customer.

cheery picked refurb, you should ask them to sponsor another and allow you to randomly buy a refurb anonymously at a later date.

I received an almost identical unit as replacement for my AW15R4 under extended warranty. I don’t have per-key RGB but this laptop is everything I could hope for in a mobile gaming PC.
I wish I knew of Dell Outlet back in 2018 but at least now I know how to find some steals in the future.
It’s neat that NOAB thinks they’re worth a look even if it’s just a sponsorship.

It definitely looks like Dell either gave you a new laptop or they cherry picked this one for you. I'm so suspicious of this "refurbished" laptop that I'm now even more hesitant to ever buy from Dell. They just seem super shady.

I scored a great deal on their alienware area 51m gen 1. It has a 9900k and 2080 and 32 gigs of ram and I got it for 3200 USD. I think the launch price was around 4200 USD. The webcam doesn't work but I don't think much of it.

God help you with a return or if anything goes wrong. Missing power cord: 5 dropped calls, then gave up and went chat, with a rep who couldn't locate a replacement cord. Then I bought my own, and the monitor had issue with going off when touched, and I want to do a return- they have me filling out a warranty transfer form where I'm supposed to fill in the prior owner? Which I of course I don't know. They sent me back a form saying the form had failed.
I've never anything from Outlet which didn't have some issues- chirping desktops, monitors with missing pins.
Of course they were nice to you and are happy to go into all the things they supposedly do, but they're just putting on a show. Once they have your money, they think they can inconvenience you into giving up on a return.

    • @TitanSubZero15

@nestube44 It depends on the sales Dell has going on. There are coupons uploaded weekly and for an RTX 3070 Alienware, normally it goes around $2,000-$2,500. But with a recent sale and coupons, the same model but refurbished goes for around $1300. So pretty much $1,000 off and about $200-$400 below other RTX 3070 laptops. You save a bit but you got to keep an eye out on sales and coupons.

You're forgetting you're a RUclipsr. I've dealt with Dell outlet before. The laptop was in shitty condition. They claimed it passed quality control tests. Explain to me how a nonworking keyboard , a freezing bios, a broken optical drive, broken antennas for the wireless cards and a barely working fan is quality control and tests. Since then, the hinge has broken. I have refurbished the damn PC myself and fixed 99 percent of the issues it had.

    • @GAMMAXII
      @GAMMAXII 2 года назад

Same here, had a Dell 5593 that had 2 bad keyboards. It's a well known issue and Dell doesn't care about it. Ended up replacing it with a Lenovo Legion 5 with a 5800h and a 3060. Because of this, I'll never buy another Dell laptop again.

I prefer brand new but if I just have to have something used or I know that the person before me took good care of it then I'll go used. It also depends on the price point for me for the used item. It's also the risk of the unknown. With new products there is a slimmer chance that there will be issues but with refurbished or used there's a bigger risk. If the warranty is good or if there is one however and it saves money of course there is less of an issue.

Clicked your link to the Dell Outlet store.
Sorry, not sorry, but Dell has to do a better job with it's pricing AND product option quality.
I scoped the Precision models and they were still Uber expensive compared with what you'd get for identical specs on eBay.
Scoped the Latitude series and I was disappointed that what they were pawning off as Latitude grade laptops had the opposite under the hood. But this I mean, if you're expecting processors of the Intel core i5 or i7 variety, then you are in for some disappointment. They stuffed these refurbs with CELERON processors???
The Alienware series were still over a $1000 bucks a pop. Twice what you'd pay on other online outlets.

I'm a huge fan of refurbishing older computers, mainly for use by underprivileged folks who don't have the cash for a new one. There's absolutely nothing wrong with buying refurbs, especially if they come from the manufacturer (Apple is king here!). You'll save a fortune and get a good computer out of it.

i am an humble owner of a Alienware X17r2 *maxxed out by Dell Outlet. I was fortunate enough to get it as a replacement for an M17R3 (which died on me 5 days before warranty expired).
The only thing I had to pay for is a beefed up 3 year warranty. I could have shaved it to a 1 or 2 year, but since Dell was so generous to expedite this to me, it's only right to get a 3 year warranty.
I'm sure, if it does die or fail within that period, Dell will replace it with whatever is the latest version in 3 years. Yes, I got the accidental coverage as well. I've worked on/with Dell (& Alienware) laptops/computers for 30 years. Since I used to work for the Dell Referb branch.. Before they farmed it out and laid is all off. Mikey just could not see paying us a real wage. I would be highly wary of any referb system from Dell. Number 1 I know is that there is Zero quality assurance there and they are using under paid personnel and No real full testing anymore. Plus since Dell uses preparatory junk parts Its never a good product to begin with... I am more than certain they shipped you a new one in the box just for a good review. Your rep did a nice song and dance but what dell does is nothing what he told you.
