smart:limit is an AI-powered limiter plug-in offers automatic parametrization, extensive loudness monitoring and a unique set of sound-shaping tools. Additionally, the audio plug-in interactively guides users in finding the right loudness and dynamics for publishing. smart:limit is an AI-powered tool that actually makes “set - check - publish” as straightforward as it sounds.

I tested it against my best combo, Newfangled Limiter and Spectral Dynamics form Melda to see how it compares. And... damn... it sounds cleanest while taking less CPU power. To match it really I would have to add two more plugins for metering. This Limiter simply takes less CPU power than all those plugins while sounding best. like everything else form Sonible. I am buying it.
And I bought it...
How does this do what spectral dynamics does?
So essentially an all in 1 mastering tool after the mixdown, really like this, shall be demoing :)

Excellent 👍🏼
I got the mixing bundle and keep being amazed at how quickly you can get a polished mix... unbelievable.
Thanks so much! Happy to hear that our plug-ins are a great addition to your workflow.

Such an amazing Limiter. Love it!
Love the the plugins x 💯
Fantastic plugin!!! Thanks. :)
Fantastic !!!
Good job sonible
BEST LIMITER!!!
Does it have automatic gain compensation so we only hear what it’s doing to the signal instead of volume jump?
Edit: yup it does!!!
Does saturation have oversampling ?
This looks great, serious L2 competition - Does the limiter have an external sidechain function? (for mastered stems etc?)
Hi! smart:limit doesn't but I can put it on the request list for our developers. smart:comp however does have a sidechain ducking feature.
Excellent with 1 complaint: It makes my low end stereo! I use other plugins before smart limit to make everything below 90hz strictly mono, but after smart:limit, the low end isn't hard in the centre anymore. This is a deal breaker for me.
warning. the gain line is set by the learn function and it raises. that’s good. however, i have noticed that the gain is being turned back down to zero when you print the track.
used Ozone but sounds too forced. Then Sonible plugs and bam, instant perfect mix.
Does this have a DITHER option or built in DITHER?
Audible needs to be in that list.
Hi! I am forwarding your request to our development team.
Love it!!!
So nice
Sounds really good, more distortion than fab filters L2 tho, I use it to give me settings and I just put those settings into L2
if ur getting distortion ur probably just not tweaking the settings to ur taste. its very much distortion free unless u go for significantly low ms times. which isnt recommended for the mastering stage anyway.
@L_ A_ imo thats untrue. I use ozone and l2 very regularly and this sounds so much cleaner especially with more gentle material like classical or even folk music. The auto release setting in itself pushes it above l2 in my ratings.
@L_ A_ what??? are u really gonna go automate the release time for ur whole track?? cos that sounds like a huge waste of time. auto release is a very useful tool and its not a case of "not knowing how to use a limiters parameters"
Can it do individual drums or drum buss limiting?
smart:limit is designed to be used on whole mixes - still, you can also use it for individual instruments or stems. In this case the learning results (automatically set parameters) may not be perfect and will need some manual tweaking since plug-in expects mixes as the input material.
Does this support Drum and Bass music?
Hi Matthew, we generated the profile Electronic | Bass Music with Drum and Bass in mind. You can get your 30 day trial on www.sonible.com/smartlimit and try it to see if it meets your needs.
Hi, I bouht it but I don't understand why the Gain reduction meter shows so high values, compared with other limiters, using the same song and other settings , in mastering usually gr is no more than 3...aldo to achieve optimal loudness it needs so high values of gain, is it a bug ? Mine is ver.1.14 on windows 11
Hi! Could you send an email to support@sonible.com with Details of your DAW and system? This way, they can try and reproduce the issue to find out what's wrong.
Limiter with AI sounds interesting

The real question... L-oo-fs or L-uh-fs?

would be nice if you could start fixing eq3, reverb and entropy for monterey / logic... ?! buyer beware. despite what is said on the website their ux is broken under the latest apple hardware + software
Hi, smart:EQ 3 and smart:reverb work in Monterey. You might want to reinstall them - that should do the trick. Regarding entropy, we are currently working on fixing it.
@@SonibleCom i tried reinstalling. not working. your support went silent also :'(
@@sushi_mermaid IF someone goes silent, ask them why. IF you ask nothing, you also went silent ;)

Why is there no CD publishing target with 16 bit dithering?
Hi Jacob, it's already on our request list and our dev team is probably going to add it with the next update.
@@SonibleCom that's fantastic. I pretty much always do a general purpose streaming render at -14 to -12 LUFS target, and a CD render at 16 bit with dither, around -10 LUFS.

Is "smart:limit" placed on the MASTER or on separate tracks?
(This is a coped reply from another thread)
Although smart:limit is designed to be used on whole mixes, you can also use it for individual tracks / instruments. Just keep in mind that you will most likely have to tweak the automatically set parameters if working on single tracks (since the AI assumes mixes as the input material). The limiter itself works flawlessly on any material - so in this case the learning basically only unlocks the sound shaping tools.
"Publishing targets" in music streaming services? Really?! :-D It's PLAYBACK loudness (normalisation) ... for the LISTENER. Not a target or targets that have to be met in mastering before uploading.
you should never go below that tho. so it‘s kind of a target
@@ReallyNiceRecords Nope. No rules! Playback loudness normalisation has absolutely nothing to do with audio production. It's OK to be aware of what's going on though and understanding those LUFS... but targets / specs. to "be met". Nope... never.
@@siggidori well, if you go below the target you pretty much give up the control to spotify‘s algorithms. i‘d much rather just be turned down. the whole point of mastering is controlling and knowing how the song sounds on respective mediums. so i think loudness targets are very important in mastering.
@@ReallyNiceRecords So you would make something "too loud" ... if the material was such. Just so streaming mediums will not ... what? Turn it up?
What "target" would you aim for?
Let's use Spotify as an example:
-11 LUFS (their loud setting)?
-14 LUFS (their normal setting)?
-23 LUFS (their quiet setting)?
+ people can actually turn the loudness normalisation OFF!
Then there are playlist modes and album modes.
They don't all turn things up... or they'll have a certain method of turning stuff up so it won't cause damage.
Playback loudness normalisation (targets) in streaming mediums are NOT something that should dictate how we master.
They could also decide to change their playback loudness normalisation "target" at any given time!
But like I said before. It's good to know and understand what's going on.
I've been studying these things for years now (FWiW).
Good luck!
@@siggidori sounds interesting! how would this „certain method of turning stuff up so it won‘t cause damage“ work?

Love how the voice-over for a limiter plugin is audibly distorting lol.
