fun fact: The prologue of the film foreshadows all the places that Jason will chase the teenagers: downtown with the gang members, the diner, the alley with the drug addicts, and the subway.

I watched Friday the 13th part 8 at the cinema. The Darkest Side of the Night recorded by the Metropolis group, closed the golden decade with a golden key. I live in Greenwich Village in New York and I always hear this beautiful song when I am driving my beautiful car around the city. Jason lives Forever in our heart.💀💀💀
Listening to this makes you think after you watch the main 8, of how far the series has come. Almost the perfect encapsulation of the 80's, from 1980 still retaining the look of the 70's to 1989 about to make its transition to the 90's and everything in between. It's quite a trip

This song is great, I grew up on all the Friday the 13th movies.
Back in 1989 New York was bad like really bad. I guess they figured what's scarier than the dangerous underworld of the back alleys and streets of New York at night. Jason Voorhees on those streets and back alleys at night.
It's too bad he was only there for 20 minutes in the movie.

Raiden Shields it kind of belabor the point of the whole series but it was like that back then that if you came to penn station in Nyc as a newcomer you could step off the train or whatever and really step into a wormhole that could take you wherever at all. Now with uber etc you almost always can plan your whole life,much less uncertainty. For me Jason was about the dark side coming to burst your 80s idyllic bubble so it all fits.
Honestly the dockside and the trashwater were the most horrifying aspects of this film. It was filmed in Vancouver if I remember right.

Everytime I watch this movie I look forward to the intro with this song just as much as the movie itself. Always have, even 15-20 years ago when I was renting the VHS tape from the local video store haha.

Yes he did. You can hear "Can't Look Back", "Coming Out Of Nowhere" and "Heart Of Ice" in part 7. But "Can't Look Back" is still unreleased for some odd reason,. That song was the best in Part 7 in my opinion. Meissner himself told me that he remembered that song so well and thought it was really good, and also told me that the song was supposed to be released on the album "Dangerous Games" but didn't make the cut. Not sure why it was left out...it's a masterpiece of solid AOR with Meissner's soft voice soaring all over it. So there you have it! 🙂

I personally love Friday the 13th part 8 Jason takes Manhattan. I know among most F13 fans out there it's not favored among many or amongst the original Paramount franchise but I think Jason Takes Manhattan is better than parts 5 and 7. Parts 5 and 7 in my opinion are the worst of the original 8 Friday the 13th films from Paramount.
Raiden Shields I've always liked this one too. It is my favorite and this is the best song that came from the franchise, I think. The group that performed the song is "Metropolis" and they released and album with this song included in 1999 under the title "The Power of the Night". Terrific movie. Terrific group to match.

It comes alive, Jason wrestles it and rides it. It rears, Jason is silhouetted against the full moon.
