- Music Video for a great song by Canadian singer/songwriter Stan Meissner.
This single was released on A&M Records and can be found on the album "Windows To Light" (1986). The CD was re-released on Long Island Records 1995.
Stan Meissner was nominated 'Most Promising Male Vocalist' during the 1986 Juno Awards.
'One Chance' was the #1 A/C (Adult Contemporary) song of 1987 (Year End Chart - The Record - Canada).
ahhh the 80’s 😎 sure miss you 😘
If I missed the 80's in 2019, I really miss them in 2020 as we sit in isolation because of the pandemic. Agreed, sure do miss the 80's.
me too so good so gone
My pleasure to post this for all to view. I asked Stan many months ago if I could post this on RUclips. I understand he is looking at putting together a 'best of' compilation in the near future. Hopefully, he'll add a couple of new tunes for his fans to hear.
Love 80s ever. AOR!
Love this great song ❤❤❤
Another classic from the 80s. I MISS it so much
I love this song...really beautiful.
Such a haunting, achingly beautiful song... The '80s really were a great time for music, up here in Canada! :D
20 years ago I was at a song writing event in Toronto and Stan was there and nobody seemed to realize who Stan was but I did because I had bought this very LP decades ago. So I went over and said hi and I told him I had his LP. And he goes “ oh YOU were the one who bought it” … 😅 its a good record.
Another great canadian 80s song!
I don't know why, but this song is classic...
I can't believe how much 80's music I've forgotten. What fun to rediscover it all!
I just met Stan this weekend and was like who is this guy. Had to look him up! Super down to earth guy. I totally remember this song - it is such a great one!
From the glimpse I caught of the last Juno awards, music like this will always be timeless and appreciated. I wish actual talent and self-respect with less degeneracy would make a comeback in Canadian music.
this model must be his lady stans eyes light right up around her it shows how they love each other how sweet i love this
I love this song. Reminds me of the mistakes I have made. So many mistakes.
we all made so many mistakes
we all been there this song makes me think of my youthful days i feel love
Yes me too love ❤
Another classic song.
Yes, "Undertow" (released in 1992) is a monster of an album for Stan Meissner and it was grossly underrated; however, please be informed that "One Chance" came out half a decade earlier and was a giant hit in North America. (It even won a Canadian Juno award!)
I hope Stan decides to release some new material in the near future.
Don't forget to check out his late 90's project CD with Peter Fredette called "Metropolis". The album is called "The Power of The Night".
When Canada was Canada and all was good.
Great Canadian classic from 1986.
this man is so under-rated!!! and this song still resonates with me...* i bet if corey hart recorded it, it would have been huge in the states. **that is sad....
Such a great 80's tune..
Back in the day, creepy stalking was much more romantic than it is nowadays.
I don't know why he only made three albums throughout the course of his career if he had such a great singing voice.
First time hearing this version. I’ve only known of the Eddie Money version. This definitely has that 80’s sound, more pop like as Eddies version is more rock sounding
Great song!! Classic love song
Freakin' amazing CANCON! One of my favourite songs of that year... '86, I believe.
I never get tired of this song. Thanks so much for posting!
I like this song
That Stan Meissner's great, fantastic song.
This is a nice song. 😊
The truth is not many are as talented as Stan.Great ballad, signature song. The guy can write a great rock classic that's right on the money.
I ' ll always remember this tune from 1986 / I had alot of fun during that year as a teenager - the memories from that tune too !
love this song
Was 18 Y/O in 86
I love finding and reconnecting with all these great songs that were seemingly long forgotten, yet were somehow etched into my memory. Great music is timeless and the good feelings these songs always bring up are never diminished by the passing of time. One Chance is no exception. Thanks for posting curo3!
I own this album , but couldn't get by this tune , over and over and over .
Great 80s song! High school!
Damn great great song :D
What a beautiful song❤
greaties tune late eightys
Thank you for this. I am a kid of the 80s and a self-professed music trivia pro but I totally forgot about this one. The scary thing is that I can still sing along after not hearing it since it was out. :)
Hey..can u remember a song with the line "I can't break away from you "..in it? From around the same time.. I thought it might be Stan Meissner but not sure..its a man with a similar voice. No search on the internet has helped!
This one of my fav Eddie Money songs his version is the best by far, u feel it, goes all the way down to the soul he puts such feeling in his songs
Hey its Borat chatting up the gal below his window! Didn't know he did a cameo.
Great tune...miss the 80s so much.
there are some great unexpected chord changes and surprising moments in this tune. The chorus itself seems to come out of nowhere, but fits perfectly. The chord at 1:08 in the pre-chorus is also a nice touch. Strong "tag"coming out of the choruses too. The shot of stan doing the fist clench through the window is a classic.
What a gem. Absolutly fantastic stuff, thanx for posting.
i wish there was more stan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
look him up on face book
I have to give credit to the person who wrote this song. That's Stan Meissner.
One of the best AOR songs !
I have been looking for this song for years. It's like Stan Meissner has never even existed!! Thank you so much for posting this. I'd like to track this CD down though.
(Goosebumps) Driving to Peterborough in the middle of the night after my first ever girlfriend broke my little heart. (Chuckle) GodI loved that 82 Honda Civic! LOL Thanks for posting and letting me remember a time when things were so much simpler.
Cheesy video. Great song with many memories.
Love this ❤️
Love this song!
This song was one of my absolute favorites from the mid 80's. When I was a DJ , I used to play this all the time early at socials.
One of the most underated artist. I wish there were more videos of Stanon here.
Amazing song and video.Stan rulez!!!Aor forever!!!
Stan's version is the original (he wrote the song). I like both versions of the song as each has their own unique characteristics. I think there's a lot more production in Eddie's version.
i prefer stans it sounds much better
That boy is a great guitarist as well
Great 80's tune. Kind of always reminded me of Eddie Money. Am i crazy?
This is the original version. Stan Meissner wrote it and Eddie Money covered it a year later.
A Ha! That makes sense. Thanks.
+TheUnclerickie Both were same year, actually.
i love this song glad i found it reminds me of my youth
It took many years trying to find a copy of that video from any source. It's too bad Stan Meissner didn't release any of his videos for retail purchase. I've tried finding them by contacting him directly through his former website and by trying to search out and reach former people at A&M Records to no success... Thanks for checking it out! I hope he releases another album at sometime in the future!
wow - I used to play this on the radio .. love it. Thx.
every moment in life is held by a thread
Remember hearing this song back in New Jersey back in 1986
Haunting tune.
I'd looked for this song about 23 years until I found it in about 2009
Stan is a great guy - this is a great song. It says a lot if u listen to the lyrics.
Great song and a high-quality video!
It's truly scary how DATED anything '80s looks. (A 'Mad Men'-type 'period' series about the '80s should be made...)
This takes Obsession to whole New level for Breakups
I LOVE IT..THANKS FOR POSTING IT!!!
Waoooo que reliquia de clásico de este mister
Thanks for sharing. I have this video myself, but always great to see other fans here! Everything Stan has touched is pure gold!
14 year old me seriously crushed on her.
Still listening to this in 2024.
I'm such a sap.....
Sin duda los 80 s saludos desde Ecuador Sto Domingo
Amazing,nice Aor song.
I really like this version of the song. The video reminds me of a Lifetime Network movie. You know, the obsessive ex. 😒
man, this takes me back, I think they played this every week on toronto rocks with john major.
Hi...that's for sure! I've been waiting for somebody to find a video of Stan's song, "I want everything"!
Love he's music
素晴らしい曲!
Thanks for posting this...Anyone have Stan's "River of Fire" or "Someone Like You" ?? Those are the tunes I remember most from this fellow.
Karla, those 2 favorite songs of mine that you mention from the Stan Meissner CD 'Undertow' are also here on RUclips.. do a search here and you'll find them.
The girl of my dreams
+AOR Spirit I see what your comment is and there's a good 80's Canadian rock song called 'The Girl Of My Dreams' by Bram Tchaikovsky. You might want to look it up.
Fab Song!!!
Great song great feeling thanks for posting this song.
@jimP71 I haven’t seen Peterborough since 1988 I think. The place still has good memories for me, and I will go back there for a visit just as soon as I can get back to good old Ontario. (If Calgary doesn’t kill me first…. Right now it’s -20C here)
Yeah..I remember "Video Hits". Seems like ages ago now. At any rate, hope your search turns up something!
Funny...
I loved the song so much that I bought all the formats of this album. I first bought the single, then the LP, then the cassette tape (for my car back then), then finally the limited edition 24K gold pressing CD. It's still on my top 10 list of most played CD's/ MP3 albums. Have you heard Eddie Money's version of the song?
I've heard a brief clip of the Eddie Money version, but it was Stan Meissner's version that was my introduction to the song back then. Oddly enough, when I first heard this song (and before I found out who sang it), I mistook Meissner's vocals on the song for those of Corey Hart.
Thanks for posting this. This song popped into my head today out of the blue. I am so glad it's on here.
Cheers!
The late and great Eddie Money did a great version of this awesome song.
I love the 80s the amazin the woon derful song special for my
What beatyful voice the ITS song woonderful I listen the 80s Melodic beatyful
Describes my many relationships that I never realized until it was too late.
And she so looks like what I remember.
@jimP71 : stan meissner is still a staff songwriter for several recording companies. he has been president of the society of canadian songwriters and on the board of directors for the songwriters hall of fame. yes, he is still very much involved in the music business.
I remember hearing this song years ago on the radio and didn't know who sang it. It wasn't until I saw the video a few years back on one of MuchMusic's 80's Weekend specials that I finally found out the song title and artist. I'm glad I was able to find it here on youtube, but I still can't get it on mp3.
It is my understanding that he is working on a 'Best Of' package that may even shed light on a new song or two. Don't know when completion is expected - but I understand that it is in the works...
Didn't know there was a video for "I want Everything". Will check my old video tapes (BETA - HA HA!!!) to see if anything happened to get on there from the old CBC "Video Hits" days.
Ahhhh, Much Music. I used to watch this on the Much too. Back in the day when video music shows actually played music videos!! Erika Em, Chris Ward, that hot Steve guy! lol.
Hey Trudy, what about the popular music TV show - "Video Hits" and my once a week favorite show "Good Rockin' Tonight"!
Great song, I'm going to guess this was before Eddie Money did it, and I think i like Meissner's more too however both are great. Wonderful music
nice 👍
he's kinda cute!! i remember this song, it does sound like a song that eddie money would sing and i think he did!
you are right he did sing it but i prefer stans version
SPEED UP 1.25😎😍😉🙄🔊🎧
i remember him..back then..
Not a bad song
Hopefully...someone gets a chance to post a video of it!
