Paul is my cousin. We lost our sweet Lucas on March 30th of this year. He was 10. 97.3 BOOM FM Toronto dedicated this to us the day we celebrated his life! We love you! #LMT ❤️🐒
Strange to read this as even though the song is clearly a love song to a lover, it's always felt like a song about the final loss of a loved one to me. Many of the words are so powerful when read that way.
@@CH8withSATCHMO Yes he is mentally ill and didnt write anything for anyone and its sad that he has followers believing his BS and trying to take credit for other peoples work
Great Canadian artist, lots of stuff you don't hear on the radio anymore. If iTunes added his first three albums they would have my money in a heartbeat.
@@fredrobinson4332 Nope! I like a lot of Elton John's stuff, but certainly not everything. He also co-wrote everything with Bernie Taupin. Elton never wrote lyrics.
I hear Paul's music on Toronto FM, EVERYDAY! Albertans: we love ya .. don't let politicians and regional silliness get in the way of 'what we all love together'; one of your own.
Listening to these Paul Janz tunes on RUclips music is really taking me back to Highschool and cute guys at dances!!❤ My youth thanks for the beautiful memories. 80’s music 4 ever Rulz!! Today’s music 4 get it. To every one of you who has posted music from a fantastic decade of the1980’s THANKS!!!!❤😂
I'm from Cleve OH, Ocassionally I use to pick-up A.M. (NOT F.M.) Radio out of Chatham Ontario, and this song was in Rotation in Fall '85. Paul Janz would hav been a bigger success in the U.S. with a lil promotion. Hard to believe this song NEVER made top 10. Good Stuff too. The record was released on A&M records, so I tracked down the Clev area REP for A&M and he got me a COPY...which I still have, Thanks JAck S. Thanks for posting! Brings back many memories. :) J.
beautiful piece of music, sincere melody and lyrics. Had forgotten about this song until I heard it in my car yesterday on Boom 97.3. Brought me back to those years, and made me think of that special person who is no longer near me. I will never forget you daddy
Totally love at first chord. The semitone between the tonic and sipertonoc notes lends an archaic feel - a holdover from olden times. Great song. Janz should be better known.
this is the kind of chilled out 1980s music that i enjoyed it is not imposing or annoying but still elevates one's mood. reminds me a little of dan hill's "carmelia"
This is one of those "feel good" songs! I love it:) It takes me back to my childhood...........when life was simple and stress-free! Thanks for posting.
Does it ever. Takes me back to falling asleep in midsummer. The windows open and the wind blowing the curtains. The whisper of the trees. The bright moon. Safe and secure with an endless bright life ahead of me.... Wow. Those were good days. Good to listen to this and just wallow in the remembered joy
First heard this song in Hawaii in the 80's. This man i SO underrated, he is fantastic. I wish more people would listen to him. Also wish he would come back singing more!
Love Paul Janz!! He was such an underrated singer. I also love the fact he's a Canadian! Russ Taff's and Greg Rollie's covers are nice, but this is my favourite one!
This was kind of before my time, but I feel an emotional connection to this arrangement. Not so much the lyrics but the melody and instrumental character. I heard it on Boom 93.7 FM I think...
@NatalieJanz Ms. Janz ... I guarantee you I remember Mr. Janz's great work. Believe in Me and Close My Eyes got me through a lot of pain during a rather painful childhood during the eighties :) Wonderful to know that he is still making music :)
For those 80's fan who do like to listen Paul Janz's music! Even though sometimes EZ-Rock 97.3 in Toronto do play his music like this one during 80's rock as well his "Send me a Miracle". I do enjoy Paul Janz's music and managed to collect all of his CD's album!
did someone just say paul janz is a teacher in Langley?? from musician to a teacher. what a voice this guy had i remember when his album electricity came out in the late 80's i just loved "i won't cry" it was my fave song every bar in vancouver played it.
"Leaving LA" is one of my all time favourite songs!!! It's a tough song to find anywhere...I have it on a Canadian compilation CD and that's the only place I've ever seen it available. Good luck to you!
Only version of this song I have ever heard is Russ Taffs version. I heard this today. I feel ripped off because this version is so much better. And it screams the 80s. My childhood.
reminds me of a girl i was dating and this came on the airwaves while we were in a dessert shop just enjoying the moment beautiful song makes me wish i could be back there again!! but that's the power of music!!
pvtrichter88 :'( beautiful hearing that. I just seen my girlfriend and on the way home driving on the highway at night, this played. The song lives on ...
pvtrichter88 That sounds like a really nice memory. Paul always brings me back to when I was a child. I had 2 albums of his and I probably listened to each song 200 times. Not many bands can bring me back to the simpler times as a child, but Paul certainly does.
Paul was an extremely underrated performer, and made a career change as a Professor Emeritus of Philosophical Theology and Head of the Department of Theology and Religious Studies at King's College London. Total contrast to another native of Three Hills Alberta , Bill Peter, who may have inadvertently in his own way, changed ice hockey coaching culture for the better , by having zero tolerance for of not only players, but also ,coaches and management who cross the lines of personal respect and civility .
"I found you when I wasn't looking I didn't look when you closed the door It was easier before here alone You did something to my ordinary You gave it all a reason It's so hard to be here feeling so alone." These lyrics apply to so many girls I have known.
Paul did a great ballad 'I'll Be Your Eyes' if you're not familiar with it. Also, you may want to look up the '79 song 'Leaving L.A.' by Deliverance (posted by: West Coast 99) which was Paul's other band before he went solo.
Last night during a central-Alberta conversation: Paul Janz came out. Not planned. A woman from Trochu, not too far down the road remembered something about 'Paul'. She didn't know him; but ironically enough, the rest of the nation, DID!
@NatalieJanz Get your dad's cousin to release a remastered greatest hits collection. There is Presence but its hard to find and issued in 1992. Wish you well on your path.
This song is a GEM. Brilliantly simple. It’s sad and optimistic, lonely yet hopeful. That multi-dimensional aspect makes it special. Unfortunately he may have gotten lucky with “close my eyes”as his other tunes are weaker. However, they all still capture the 80s culture and have a certain nostalgia to them that can be appreciated today.
