As an young Albertan kid in the 80s muchmusic was my window to such awesome bands such as frozen ghost, haywire, Doug and the slugs and Canadian 80s music was my childhood and goodness what a time for music
This is my personal favourite FG song. Listening to bands like FG, Platinum Blonde, Glass Tiger, Haywire and Honeymoon Suite bring back so many great memories of growing up in 1980's Canada
I remember hearing songs like these on Much Music & 680CFTR while growing up in Toronto, ON, during the '80s. The latter listens during "Commercial-Free" Sundays. Thank you, RUclips, for bringing back this memory.
Listening to this December 2020 because simply put , to this day this is still one of the best songs ever & blows anything today out of the water !! Real musicians singing from their , this is what it’s all about ! And that saxophone solo ... Damn 😍😍😍 they need to bring the saxophone back to more songs !
This is what it's all about right here; skillful musicianship wedded to intelligent songwriting with thought-provoking lyrics. Would that more bands could take their cues from examples like this, especially more of these modern acts!
Great song...listening to bands like F.G., Haywire, Honeymoon Suite, Glass Tiger, Platinum Blonde etc. all brings back so many good memories of 1980's Canada
This song and Round and Round are my personal favs. Used to listen to this song on the radio in the 80's and still love it! Thanks for a great retro post!
Good Day I never forgot how great the Frozen Ghost band was / Is I loved this song, & "Should I see" Yes I have the album, but not seen the vids Thanks for posting!
Remember when you could buy cassettes and read the lyrics in them and they credits, notes about the band? Miss that. Now it's all online spotify bullshit or youtube and their constant copyrights and ads. Remember whem much music played music, real music, not the shit they want you to hear now?
It is always nice to see some 80's bands taking their music and writing seriously. The 80's had a lot of Cheese but Frozen Ghost didn't bite. These guys could write a song with some meaning Pauper In Paradise is a great example. Sometimes i wonder if MTV actually hurt bands instead of helped them. Reason being you could have a great song but if the video is cheesy or plain SHIT you might remember the video more so. In that case the music does not stand on it's own. Frozen Ghost were pretty good and the cheese factor was super low if nothing at all.
goodness...his lyrics were genius, poetry...i mean, the music is amazing, but the lyrics...this sh!t would be even good today...they were ahead of their time, no question
I never knew, till yesterday, that Frozen Ghost was the reincarnation of Sheriff! I loved FG when they came out and bought their CD. I am rediscovering them at age 63 (I bought their CD IN 1986 when it came out.) wow.
Remember when Wolf Hassell made the day no to drugs commercial with Steve Murphy on ATV for those are you in Atlantic Canada? And now Wolf is fighting with Loblaws…or was a few years ago anyways
An artist with Insight and Message Songs that sure Deserve being Heard. The Streaming Programmers should LISTEN to their Songs and Musicianship, which is understated and Impressive. We do Not Hear enough FROZEN GHOST today... Check Out "Should I See" or "Round and Round".
Because it was the Junos. And because Canada's music is "protected" by the CRTC's Canadian Content (or Can-Con) rule. Such an arrangement is a blessing for low-talent bands (I accurately refer to them as "can-con darlings") because it gives them a platform while simultaneously denying a platform for many non-Canadian acts. It's a form of communistic theft in that regard. But the can-con rule in a fucking anchor for talented acts like Frozen Ghost because it stigmatizes them in the greater markets outside Canada's borders. The result? Very little airplay or exposure in the US, Europe, Australia and Asia. In order for a Canadian band to hit the big time outside of Canada being very good is not good enough. They have to be outstanding, appeal to the largest concert-attending and record-buying (ie: younger) demographic, have excellent and effective management and come out of the gate fast and hard before anyone knows where they're from. That formula worked well for Bryan Adams, Loverboy and Celine Dion.
Excellent song/video. But this isn't a promo video (for this video or any other videos on this channel) if this came on MuchMusic Spotlight that aired on MuchMusic at the time when it did play music videos compared to now.
We need this kind of music again, world's gotten to uptight and correctness has wrecked so much. We need songs that are real, not picked in a board room in Toronto. Back when much music actually played music all day long, now it's shit.
Phil X has been permanent member of Bon Jovi since 2016 and is being inducted into the Mississauga Walk of Fame on Sept. 8, 2019 at Port Credit Memorial Park. He grew up in Mississauga, and now lives in LA.
Is that Rouge Valley or the Don River? Video recorded Skullett on Lead vocals with the unplayed acoustic guitar used as a prop. All that aside. This song kicked as back in the day and still does.
@zaccurian Me too buddy,,,I've had this tune played loud in so many vehicles from Calgary to Vancouver,we'd need a month to drink Kokanee Beer and i could tell ya stories,,,,Stories from the road at speed !!
He's not pudgy, just the parachute style in the 80s. Two, if Bon Jovi offers you a job paying gobs of cash playing in his band - and your living is based on session work - you say yes. Check out his band The Drills. IMO, anything but 80s music.

A saxophone is a combination of smooth and groovy!

I totally agree with your opinion! I remember listening to them back in the day when they first came out and I still love it today!
The video is a bit weird lol but agree. Bearing in mind I was one of the sorry sods who grew up with this great music.
Couldn’t agree more !! Listening to this song today !
Such a meaningful song. The whole album was wonderful🎉
I lost my mind over how good Wolf's bass line was when I heard this song the first time back in the day, brilliant!
14 years ago damn

Great song...listening to bands like F.G., Haywire, Honeymoon Suite, Glass Tiger, Platinum Blonde etc. all brings back so many good memories of 1980's Canada

I am proud to be a PAUPER IN PARADISE!!
Man, I remember this song... Have had it stuck in my head for days now. Glad I could come here and show my kids what I was humming!
A young Phil X, now on tour with Bon Jovi.
Another great Canada band. Cheers

i know those Northern Ontario woods brother.. love you and your music
Remember when you could buy cassettes and read the lyrics in them and they credits, notes about the band? Miss that. Now it's all online spotify bullshit or youtube and their constant copyrights and ads. Remember whem much music played music, real music, not the shit they want you to hear now?
Yeah, and I had Frozen Ghost's first two cassettes.

Today ( March 24 2022 ) the refrain from this song popped into my head. Had to put the video on...🇨🇦🇨🇦✌✌😎😎
Why is everyone hating on the video? Lmao I think it's awesome
This is food for the spirit , Thanks .
Back in the day i made a mixed CD of alternating Frozen Ghost and The Fixx songs. It turned out great.
@JoeAnthony1963 Don't know about "Coney Hatch" but the 2 founding members Arnold Lanni and Wolf Hassel were previously with "Sherriff".
I missed the 80's music
Great Bass!!!!
I keep coming back to this song. Well, now it's favorited for easy access. Thank you so much for posting this.
Just popped into my head here in 2021
Never seen a straight saxophone before !!
Spent a lot of time rocking on to this cassette those were the days
Mullets in Paradise - but seriously this is good music though
A decent skullet on the singer too
Good Canadian Boys! Song didn't get nearly enough airplay. I'm just dreading somebody trying to cover this & pass it off as their own
Frozen Ghost songs are all good.
goodness...his lyrics were genius, poetry...i mean, the music is amazing, but the lyrics...this sh!t would be even good today...they were ahead of their time, no question
A best of Frozen Ghost album is everything from its debut album plus this gem.
Here from Freefall, happy to be led here
"i'm a poor man though I do not need a thing"
It's pathetic ..... how GREAT this song is and how FEW views of it there are !!
I never knew, till yesterday, that Frozen Ghost was the reincarnation of Sheriff! I loved FG when they came out and bought their CD. I am rediscovering them at age 63 (I bought their CD IN 1986 when it came out.) wow.
Frozen Ghost is really a very unique and great Canadian band. I really like their music. I loved the 80' s so much.
Always liked them in the day. They had a good sound and unusual arrangements
Remember when Wolf Hassell made the day no to drugs commercial with Steve Murphy on ATV for those are you in Atlantic Canada?
And now Wolf is fighting with Loblaws…or was a few years ago anyways
Take note of youtube sensation PhilX in the red jump suit! Fretted Americana and PhilX ftw!
If all people fell by theses rules, mankind would not be in such kaos now/words sung here hold truths for all mankind.

How come all the bands that has won "the most promising band" Juno award are so forgotten nowdays?
P.S. Love this song and band (;

Toronto..........!!!!!!!!!!!!
A great band in the 80s.
Excellent song/video. But this isn't a promo video (for this video or any other videos on this channel) if this came on MuchMusic Spotlight that aired on MuchMusic at the time when it did play music videos compared to now.

The bassist has a great bass sound. What happened to these guys. I just got reconnected and this is awesome music
wolf hassel works at yorkvile sound in the qc dept.
ChiefJustice Middleton Arnold is a producer and songwriter in Toronto
"What happened to these guys" you ask? The 90s happened, that's what.
I believe Arnold is a producer in Murretta California at Alchemy studio. (he was in 2014).
Geez, haven't heard this in like forever
thx for the share!
2klime
More Phil X! Yes Phil X of Bon Jovi fame and his band The Drills was in this band. Check out more Phil.X in Aldo Nova.
Saw these guys at nightclub and spoke to this guy PhilX who later went on to play with Aldo Nova Band you know Blood on the bricks
Phil X has been permanent member of Bon Jovi since 2016 and is being inducted into the Mississauga Walk of Fame on Sept. 8, 2019 at Port Credit Memorial Park. He grew up in Mississauga, and now lives in LA.
Very sublime!!!!
Gotta dig Phil X's peach jumpsuit.
At first I thought this was the Fixx. Great tune!
Is that Rouge Valley or the Don River?
Video recorded Skullett on Lead vocals with the unplayed acoustic guitar used as a prop.
All that aside. This song kicked as back in the day and still does.
Filmed by the Don River in Torontos east end
I remember Phil X trying to fill Rik Emmett's shoes in Triumph. those are some giant shoes.........
When music sounded like music
Phil X in jumpsuit! Kick-ass!
Thank you
Its sad, but I know a lot of kings in chains. Greed sucks
@zaccurian Me too buddy,,,I've had this tune played loud in so many vehicles from Calgary to Vancouver,we'd need a month to drink Kokanee Beer and i could tell ya stories,,,,Stories from the road at speed !!

Thumbs up for Phil X in a pink jumpsuit!!!
The pudgy guy in the pink jumpsuit is in Bon Jovi now. Seems he can't seem to get out of the 80s...
He's not pudgy, just the parachute style in the 80s. Two, if Bon Jovi offers you a job paying gobs of cash playing in his band - and your living is based on session work - you say yes.
Check out his band The Drills. IMO, anything but 80s music.
That's Phil X. He's a great guitarist!
Made in Canada........
