Didn't know what 1st movement was about but this 2nd movement is full of stunning orchestration and sounds.bass flute and harmonics instrings with combinations too colorful to be imagined.wonderful stuff! Discovered her over 30 years ago whenI picked up her Chaconne for piano .Ustvolskaya is more my lady but I follow Gubaidulina as much as I can .HopeI get to see and hear this movement live one day .
The lead instruments start out fighting madly to escape a prison of form, and after they've burnt through their strategic reserve of energy, the trap's jaws pierce even deeper into the flesh of formality, literally forcing the music to face the grim reality and "hear" its voice.
It mainly reminds me of dinosaurs chasing humans. Especially the part from 3:47 on sounds like the soundtrack for Jurassic Park by John Williams. Nevertheless great music!
this kind of reminds me of space..... like its a description of everything in the universe going on at once and then the orchestra dies down and focuses in on little earth hahahaha thats me trying to sound intelligent
Une expression pure de la quête de l'Ineffable ; une transe hypnotique. Quelle noirceur... quel tourment sublime. Gubaidulina est inégalée.
