I have commented on this piece before on another thread but I love this piece so much. It is simply astounding. The range of broken sentimentality is gripping - from the detached to the intensely claustrophobic. Just great playing. Thank you.
I think violas are underrated because they don't bring anything new to the table. The violin does almost everything the viola does and more. And where the violin can't go, the cello does ultimately everything else. So, the question is, what can the viola do that the violin, cello and bass are already doing? I am also a violist and violinist, but I sound nothing like this. This young woman is amazing.
Phantastisch!!! 🎻= this time a Viola ‼️🧑🏫 I would think the most difficult piece work for Viola, "unplayable‼️🎻=🥵 Great piece, could not play,if I could, which I cannot 🤷♂️ I'm just a Hobby Violist, every day or even listening, being honestly 😬🙏,but an awesome piece!!! Psycholdelic, there you notice the same with the great Schostakowitsch, they both suffered the Regime at their times in their original home Russia, which is deeply sadly now after 33 years later not better, truely sad!!! I personally adore those two composers!!! Please keep on playing so beautifully!!! All the best to you 🎻🍀🍀🍀🎶 J.B. 🙋♂️ PS: Also to announce a wonderful great Pianist haut excellence!!! 👌,that must be said as well‼️‼️
Wow!!! i play the viola, i've been playing or just over four years and i'm working on my grade 7, i'd love to be able to play that but i'm only 15 so i've got time!!!
Lol. Well, I will figure something out. As soon as I can I'll PM you for information or something. Its really a great piece :) Ive had it for about a year or so and I still cant play half of it. I can play the 1st largo Ok.... But everything else is just majorly hard.... But i digress. Lol.
I am talking about in an orchestral setting. I said violins can do ALMOST everything the viola does and what the violin can not do (i.e. the C string) the cello takes over. As a solo instrument, the viola is a very significant and interesting instrument. In an orchestral setting, I am not so sure. I think composers give violas boring parts because the composer doesn't know what to do with a viola what he or she doesn't have the violins and cellos doing already.
also it can happen that the main melody is only in the violas register, if you want the violins to play it, they would have to play it an octave higher, but the composer doesnt have to do that because maybe it sounds better on a certain octave. If so, the only instrument that can play the bass would be the cello. Leave the viola where it is please, the orchestra is not a system of robots that only care about who does what, it is a place for the composer to explore and create.
i have a quick question. on measure 246 @ the vibr. e gliss molto, are u playing that note higher than it should be? because on the sheet music it is much lower than the note ur plying it at. just something i observed. if u could answer it would be greatly appreciated. ^_^
haha i play viola and mdm (melodic death metal) guitar. and my guitar playing leaks into my viola playing. my shitty teacher told me to NOT to improv during festival, but i did a sweet arpeggio run in one of of our songs and we got like all 3's it was sweet but she banned me from concerts :(
you obviously don't know much about music if you think the cello can just replace the viola... lol first of all, how can a violin do everything a viola can do and more? it's has an E string, but the viola has a C string. infact, violas can shift positions on the A string to basically make the same sound as an E string, wheras the violin can't do the same to have a c string. plus violins don't produce as rich a sound. compare the viola to violin, violin is more squeaky
For me this is an oooold topic with no sense, the composer doesn't have to follow your logic, to start, the viola has its own timbre, it is a completely different instrument, the composer may choose THAT INSTRUMENT that has its own acoustics and timbre to do his bidding, ...
Very beautiful and so deep . I enjoyed so much . Thank you for share. From Iran...
I LOOOOOVE Schnittke's music!!!!!

she plays very well, but she doesn't put as much emotion into it as Yuri Bashmet
I think I need to pick up a viola... Violin's overdone, anyway.
