Saw these guys back when Eric Singer was with them at The Ritz in Indianapolis, Indiana in '89. Stood directly in front of Jake's wall of orange Marshalls. Felt my chromosomes move. Mesmerizing performance by Jake and Ray. Badlands: bluesy, hard rock 'n roll music at its absolute best.
Love that slide action on Whiskey Dust the whole groove amazing and what can I say about Ray what a voice he really is my number one singer I try to sing his stuff but can't get close Ray you are missed brother
I forgot how cool these 2 songs were, especially "Whisky Dust". Have that 2nd album on cassette somewhere. I'm downloading this now! Killer riffs on both.
I had the honor of seeing these guys live at Hammerjacks in Baltimore. Man, they did not disappoint. They were phenomenal. One of the best shows I have ever seen. Jake is such an underrated guitar player. Ray's voice was magic. Would have loved to see them do more.
I had the honor of driving ray to rehearsal when he was in rondinelli right before before badlands. ...2x 3x a week he came in from jersey on the Train...I was close with the rondos.....if ray lived he would have gone down as one of the best.....and he is to a select few ...like me who saw him do it live every week full on monster even at rehearsal....he was a great dude to know as an aspiring 16-17 year old guitarist....jammed with him when teddy rondinelli took a break ..badlands were great and I love jake.....but seriously...u should have heard him with rondinelli..best band that nobody except us in the ny area saw.....ray made a hasty choice left and joined sabbath for 3-5 months then to badlands..he alays told me that it was sabbath that made him want be a musician .so i understood it....but it sucked he left when he did....rondinelli was months away from a major deal if not weeks...youTube might have rondinelli album with ray...look it up..they were going to blow up big time if ray stayed just a ltitle longer.....but I was very proud to see he got acclaim for his talent before he passed...whole situation still makes me feel terrible....but soon as I hear his voice I will always remember him belting it out during those rehearsals and the fun banter and joking around before and after... it was 1984-85 long island ny.....good times.
@@j.reveille6815 Unfortunately for Ray all that talent came with a dark side, that destroyed Badlands, his career and in the end even his life. A sad story really.
That's a Charvel, and it's called Purple Burst, actually my favorite from the Jake's signature models. Gorgeous guitar, Charvel is supposed to put out the newer edition when and if Jake gets out of hiding again. They already put out the new version of the Blue Burst signature around 2018 when Jake's band Red Dragon Cartel put out their latest record Patina.
My friend told me they pay 170 for Voodoo Highway vinyl...Propably not for my worn out one. Would not sell it anyway despite I have no functioning turntable . I might get back to it. And I will.⚒⚒🏴☠
i have seen most of the bands ive wanted to live at some point in my life but this is one i missed im so let down because of it! such a great great band!
Les Wadley : Les, I do not want to rub it in but you did miss one of THEE all time greats. This band should have been as big as Led Zep,,,yep, I did just say that. They are an all star band when one looks back at their talent. Jake E. Lee is one of the best sounding guitar players I have ever heard. I saw them at the Stone Pony in NJ. Don’t know what year but I’m guessing around the early 1990’s. What year did Ray pass away?
Appears to be a little snip off the "Dag the Giblets" home video by them. (Included all the "Mtv Videos" with some interview footage and a few live tracks thrown in to make it worth the money. Really great band, Ray is sorely missed, very few natural singers like him left in the world.
I know I used to pick him up at train station on way to Long Island rehearsal for the band Rondinelli he was in before he joined sabbath then onto badlands... It’s on Spotify. It’s great. Not only did I hear him rehearse full volume and on fire at the space but this 16yr old who just got his license already always had some good green. I would light up and share with him...he would sing to the tunes on the radio and slay them all. RIP Ray.
Badlands was a band founded by former Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Jake E. Lee and former Black Sabbath members Ray Gillen and Eric Singer. Badlands also featured bassist Greg Chaisson. Badlands were from California and played Hard Rock, Blues Rock, and Glam Rock. After the first Badlands album, Singer was replaced by Jeff Martin. Badlands lasted from 1988 to 1993 and Gillen died in 1993 which ended any hopes of reuniting the project, he had left in 1991, they had a replacement John West, but decided to end the band after his death anyway. They Rock Pretty Hard and Talented Never Dies and Neither does Rock'N'Roll!🖤🎸🖤🤘🏻😈
A Cover of 1st track .belongs going on the next Ace Frehley Solo LP as the 1st single released. Vocals featuring: Myles Kennedy. ... 💣 🔥. Your Welcome 🤘😎
I wonder if the rest of this show exists somewhere. I know these two songs are taken from the Dag The Giblets video, but surely the rest of the show got recorded...
Singer is usually more reserved in his playing, more focused about laying a solid foundation for a song, but he can be versatile and more technical if needed. But yeah i preferred Jeff Martin style in both Voodoo Highway and Dusk.
High school buddy of the bass player Greg. His name is Jeff Martin. He was a really good guitarist and singer as well. This band was just hella talented.
I thought he quit because he thought the band wasn't taking off and he had an opportunity with Kiss. I remember thinking he was making a mistake. I was so wrong. Eric is still playing for Kiss.
Such an amazing band. R.I.P Ray. I wish Jake, John Sykes, Billy Sheehan and Tommy Aldridge would form a super group!
Jake is a legend, so was Ray, but Greg Chaisson is one BEAST of a bassist, Jeff Martin is a none too shabby powerhouse behind a kit as well.
Eric Singer not too shabby either.
The biggest problem with Badlands was that they had too much talent.....Unbelievable Voice and Guitarist!
Funny but probably true
And killer rhythm section too! Yeah they were too good for their own good, something had to happen to break the magic unfortunately.

Badlands . The name says it all. The band is Badass, BADGOOD !! there first record is the best I think. It’s too bad
There not together anymore
That was absolutely brilliant thank you❤😮😅😊
Jake had the most groove of all of Ozzy’s axemen .
For sure he was so much different after Randy And Zakk was just Zakk
He was the best player Ozzy ever had!
Love that slide action on Whiskey Dust the whole groove amazing and what can I say about Ray what a voice he really is my number one singer I try to sing his stuff but can't get close Ray you are missed brother
Great band....loved the extended
Rumbling train.....sick
Jake at the height of his powers, I don’t think there was a better player. Plus one heck of a dancer :)
I forgot how cool these 2 songs were, especially "Whisky Dust".

That purple Jackson Guitar is the coolist ever looking instrument, I want one
bobowrath sovine Charvel, but none the less a beauty!
He released a blue Charvel last year .. but that purple one … ugh sooooo gorgeous

Best live Badlands I've heard..
Great video, thanks🙏it’s so rarely seeing RAY si près 🤷♀️a very great MAN👍🤷♀️Like and KISSES HIM💋🔥
he has that fuckin cool voice
One of the alltime.best bands, best songs and power at every position. Insane talent
What ray Gillen and Jake e Lee did with badlands can be put up against any band and any talent.
These guys are the best has ever come.
Badlands were brilliant saw them 92 in Bristol u.k I had the first album going back to 89..
I saw Jake with Ozzy and love Badlands! Thanks for sharing this!!! Obviously they were just as great live as they were in the studio! 😎🎶🎸
One of the most under rated bands of the 80's. Many say a band was under rated... this band really was. Such a shame about the lead singer.
ONE OF MY FAVORITE BANDS OF ALL TIME.
I saw Badlands in Knoxville TN in 1989. Great show. They opened for Tesla
My dad was there
My dads last show before he went to Korea in the army!
My friend told me they pay 170 for Voodoo Highway vinyl...Propably not for my worn out one. Would not sell it anyway despite I have no functioning turntable . I might get back to it. And I will.⚒⚒🏴☠
Absolutely loved this band. They kicked ass in concert.
i have seen most of the bands ive wanted to live at some point in my life but this is one i missed im so let down because of it! such a great great band!

Ray had the pipes of god

Ray was a one of kind voice
Reigiran remains in the back of my mind. He's an incredible singer.
Legendary!!🤘☢🤘
you can allways smell the southern blues in Jake E Lee's guitarplay.
Such a bummer they came out about the time grunge was hitting the scene and put a lot of these kinda bands out of business 😢
Whiskey Dust !!!
LED ZEPPELIN MEETS CREDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL MEETS BAD COMPANY MEETS HUMBLE PIE! THAT'S BADLANDS.
Fuck I'm so luck to have grown up in the 80's
I would have loved to hear Ray sing "Slide It In" by Whitesnake.
I want some suspenders like Jeff Martin.
way tooooo cooooooool!!
Jake is my favorite guitarist and, though he was a scumbag, Ray Gillen had one of the best voices I ever heard.
Up! 😎🤘 T&M 🌹
Love it
Epic to say the least
Jake E. Lee is making love to that guitar, and i'm thankful for it. \m/
Jeff Martin is awesome...
My friend and master of Racer X.
Shit was it Jeff on Racer X with Paul and Bruce
Yes, on vocals. Scott Travis went to Judas Priest.
Not only a killer drummer but a great vocalist too, with incredible pipes!
Holy shit this is badass!👍😈
Jake's CHARVELS . :-)
Gregg Chaisson...Write that down... Now verbally repeat what you just wrote down.!
Soooooooo good!
Coverdale and Plant at any age could never reproduce what Ray did vocally on stage and in the studio.
I know I used to pick him up at train station on way to Long Island rehearsal for the band Rondinelli he was in before he joined sabbath then onto badlands...

Ray is arguably the second greatest rock singer i've ever heard, has been in my top 3 since i heard him for the first time.
Nobody can grow hair like Jake

Susan Waddle we know but thanks for the info anyway lol
They never played Glam Rock...That is an insult!
Susan Waddle glam rock Susan??? Glam rock? Please keep your misinformation to yourself. Also, you’re telling us shit we all already know.
cooool song

Red Dragon Cartel
Ray died
@@raymondlugo9960 yeah I read about such a bummer

sooo much better live when ray is rhere!
Jake E Lee at the apex of his career...Jake was absolutely untouchable at this point in time
that was fun
Jake switched his guitar during the drum solo.
Ladbands
Was this 89?
No. Eric played drums on 1989.
Love eric singer but this guy jeff its more technical in both records voodoo highway and dusk! Eric its a hard rocker drummer.
Singer is usually more reserved in his playing, more focused about laying a solid foundation for a song, but he can be versatile and more technical if needed. But yeah i preferred Jeff Martin style in both Voodoo Highway and Dusk.
Who’s playing drums? That isn’t Singer
Jeff Martin, lead vocalist with Racer X prior to Badlands.
Eric Singer was fired because he wanted songwriting credits for writing his drum parts.
