WOW, that is amazing, sadly in America that would be too much of a job to get around in, I have been thinking about buying a box truck 19ft with a 10ft box to turn into a home, tired of rent prices going up all the time, one whole paycheck is just for rent and the other is bills.....legit no life when you work hard to only pay bills and always end up living paycheck to paycheck. I know the cost of building one of these will be a lot, but the money saved afterwards will be worth it, not really planning on traveling just parking somewhere local and still work.
When you do a project this big, it’s most likely for more of a stationary living space than for a nomadic lifestyle. I already have a small van that I’ve lived in and traveled in for years and this would make a really cool home base.
What do you mean too big to get around in? I just got a 26 ft box truck for this purpose you don't need a CDL or any special license and you can go practically anywhere there's a handful of exceptions
Having just finished our own build, we can really appreciate the planning, labor, cost and immense satisfaction that comes with ushering a dream into reality. You have an elegant and functional home that is refreshingly unique. Well done you two :)
Nico and Jona, I am so impressed by the truck/Living space itself and all the details I see, so I long for more of this. You have really created one of the best rolling small houses I have seen... Thank you soo much for letting us in on your adventure!
I have a question please about the insulation... can you do a in-depth video on the ventilation of the box truck... did you put venting in the walls for heat and moisture... im very interested how you did the insulation... because this is what Im plaining... I will have a 16 foot box , Isuzu truck. thanks
Excellent! I have always fancied something like this myself, and having just passed my rigid LGV test last week, I will be upping my research to achieve it
Beautiful conversion! I love the idea of using a box truck as opposed to a van or bus. If the vehicle portion fails, would you be able to buy a new truck and just attach your home to that? Building out a bus seems like you are committing to your home going away when the bus finally breaks down for good.
Great question! In theory: yes. The box is bolted to the chassis. Ofc it’s a bit of an operation but in theory we could swap the truck out for another one or put it on a foundation and call it a house;)
You have created a gorgeous home with a lot of creative solutions for dealing with every day issues of living in a home that moves. Is the space that houses your electrical and water, etc insulated to protect them from the cold or extreme heat? If I ever went tiny I would definitely want to do something like your truck just handicap friendly (I have multiple spinal cord injuries from a car accident years ago.)
I have seen all your videos - I love them. AND I love your truck/Small home - think this might be the way to do it when you are living in (and with) the truck, I would be different for holiday living...
Well done example of how form, function, and design can come together and make a unique one of a kind living space. 👍 How did you make that adjustable stove pipe?
Reizend leven is zo'n lange wens. Online job die nog goed moet lopen. Maar wow wat tof dat jullie dit doen. Veel geluk samen enz! Top!
Very nicely done. I really appreciate that you skipped the blah, blah, blah, crap in most of these videos. I don't care about your life story, cat, mother-in-law, or your favorite lasagna. You gave the relevant details in a very concise, accurate delivery. Well done.
Hey Nico & Jona, what type of glass did you use for the big window at the back? I reckon normal glass would break while driving right? How did you solve the tiny movement of the cabin wihile driving with regards to the window?
Very nice. I'm still not sure about moisture. If there is condensation between the inside of the outer wall and the insulation(?), how is that released? Or am I now understanding? The build on the inside is very, very, nice - well thought out and executed.
There is a more technical build video coming. So turn on the notification bel ;) Otherwise we also have this video: Technical van tour of our off-grid Tiny House ruclips.net/video/FnWcDzU_fA8/видео.html Let us know if this helps, otherwise specific questions help us a lot :)
Dear Sir, A most fascinating mobile home build however I cannot help wandering if initially buying a refrigerated box lorry might have negated all the extra timber framing & insulation thus saving potentially time & money? Besides thisI think you both have done yourselves very proud of an exceedingly clean & professional project. Very well done. Kind regards.
@@NicoJona Dear Sir, Thank you very much for your courteous reply. When one is confronted with such an opportunity & thinking this might be heaven's finest offer, one must follow one's heart just as you did. Kind regards.
Nico and Jona, Great video and beautiful conversion. My dream is to build a similar one. Do you have any data on how much weight the total equipment is, how do you really need a 16T truck? Wouldn't it fit into a 7.5T where about 2t was the weight used?
Well depends on the weight of the truck empty - ours is 8t empty and considering you have a relatively big interior and adding later things like a big water tank fully filled, diesel and a motorbike I would not consider under 12t even for us in the future 🫠
Hiya! This looks amazing have looked through a lot of the comments and was wondering what the cost of the build was please……. Not the cost of the truck Thanks ☺️ x
your framing timber size, 65mm x 38mm, interestingly, is 2½inches by 1½inches Is that the finished size or the nominal size? That adjustable stove pipe looks awesome! Can't wait for that video! Y'all have given me so many ideas for my box truck build. Thank you!

Mate, I'm saving up to do myself a home on wheels.
This is by far the best one I've seen.
@@duanedibbley7846 That it is, sadly the prices of used cars here in the US have inflated to something nasty.

Yes yes yes. Please do a short (or long) video of how you made the Grizzly flue pipe slide. Never seen it before. I will start my build in the spring.
Will do! Video about flue pipe is online this Sunday :)
very impressing one off the best builds i have seen so far
Awesome thaaaank you!
Love the fog in the background in beginning of vid from a fellow fog habitant of a small coastal town in California 😊

Absolutely stunning.
cool, thank you 😊
Is there a longer & more detailed version of this video?
What would you like to see in particular?
Definitely interested in the adjust chimney flute. This is an awesome build. Just bought my truck and excited to get started

Nicely done.
What was the total weight before and after the conversion? And what are the dimensions of the box and the truck?
hello - nice work - how did you make your "papers" - homologation truck to camper ? thanks for your ideas and explanation ...marc

It is a climate folie which is acting as a viper barriers that is letting moisture out of the insulation is there is some in there :)
how long is the cabin?
HOw long was the box itself?
Beautil, i would have put a small wall between the bed and kitchen just to hang things
Muchas Felicitaciones, qué gran y bello trabajo... Felicidades 👏👏👏
This is a really nice build. Would say that the large window on the back could be enough for the size of the box if you wanted to cheap out? 😊
Yes, but now 🙈 we leave it closed sometimes for stealth and space reasons and then you would not have any natural light 😓
was weight balance a consideration on this build?
Super nice build! Very inspiring, can you share the dimensions of the box? Length, width and height?
7,4M, 2,5m, 2,5m
@@NicoJona Is that useable interior dimensions?
Hmm no outside dimensions. But it carries just so slightly and we added isolation which makes it even smaller inside

Hi Alan, the dimensions I mentioned are the actual sizes (I think you call the finished size). We bought it at our local wood shop.
Light color interior requires less power to illuminate.

Why not just sprayfoam it???
Would have been an option. In Europe somehow is it less common to do so. Also we just felt this is the best option :

How so?
how long the box?
7.4m long, 2.5 wide & 2.5 high before installing anything
