  • The VAN TOUR is finally here!! We started this build at the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020. This past year and a half has come with a lot of ups and downs but we’ve learnt so much about building and design! Starting from scratch with no experience wasn’t an easy task but with the help of RUclips and our awesome subscribers we’re learnt everything we need to build our beautiful tiny home 🙂 almost everything in the home is build from scratch and we’ve documented the entire process on our channel if you want to check it out. Thank you to all of our supporters for sticking with us along the way, we truly appreciate your support and can’t wait to give you more memories all this crazy journey !

The music in the background reminds me of the trip we had to Sweden in 2018, my wife and me. In the space of three days, we were robbed twice and witnessed a shooting incident in the middle of the day. Then my wife said now I don't want to be here another minute! And quite frankly, I myself had no desire to stay. We were supposed to be there for a week, but it ended up being three days. We lost money on it since the accommodation was paid for. But we had a great experience in Denmark! What a wonderful and charming country! The people were polite and pleasant, easy to get in touch with. In the four days we made friends with whom we are still in contact. In the summer, they will take us to Norway and up into the mountains. So, despite three terribly frightening experiences, we gained new experiences and new friends.

My favorite is the star ceiling and hampster cage. I cannot leave this video without saying, everyone PLEASE remember to coat all organic materials in some sort of sealant or it will rot, get black mold and make you sick. ESPECIALLY the back sides of your wood that isn't facing out. Even one even layer of spray paint will help you out tremendously. I hear over and over again of people rigs rotting out and becoming destroyed after just one year. Also make sure to calk all your seams on the inside before you build on it. Example: once you gut out a box truck, and there's just aluminum walls, calk all those seams. This will keep out outside moisture, think of dew on the grass outside. I really hope this box truck is still doing okay, I understand how much blood, sweat, and tears go into building a rig, my husband and I live full time in a cargo trailer, so when I say this it's out of genuine love.

The garage door installer told us some horror stories so I'll leave that to them haha. From a carpenters perspective(not sure what you do for a living) not bad at all. If you ever have issues with the ladder, keep your old one as a template and just dado each step into the "stringers" and it will be much more solid. Really enjoyable video. This makes me wish I had bought my grandfather's old GMC. Vandura 3500, with an attic over the cab and a 4 foot box. It had some engine problems, so he bought a UD 1400 to replace it, but that GMC could have made a nice tiny house. Back then I wasn't thinking of stuff like this though.
That UD had a huge ramp build on the back when he got it; now that I think of it, it could have served as a great porch with some folding legs at the top corners.
    So many ideas...

I did a 7x14 special order cargo trailer and turned the inside into a log cabin which turned out great. But this is beyond great.

This is so cool and very well thought out! Couple questions, how long did it take to build, how much did it cost in usd, and last question, how did u utilize the space under your bed?

Sooooooo many questions but if I may ask the most important. Do you have a background or did you have previous experience in construction and electrical? Or is this whole project a first timer and self-taught!
EXCELLENT JOB!!! YALL LOOK PLEASED!! I want to do the same for next year.

Hi there :) Roberts is completely self taught! Learnt everything from RUclips or research. We were both novices when we started but Roberts really researched how to do everything on his own and did the entire project by hand, no external help :)

@@CanadianStealth Excuse me cutting here, but that is just insanely impressive! This is so well done! The attention to detail is fantastic and the artistic touches really make this feel like a traveling cottage instead of a stale and sterile off the shelf RV. This feels like a home built with love and as a fellow Ontario resident (Hamilton, to be exact) I wish you both all the best! :)

Most importantly is that you could be together with ❤️ and accomplish such works of art. To have Nothing matter in the world but to go have fun and just be together. To live in the city seems to look like the complete opposite to me. Very peaceful watching something I will never have. Unconditional love and family. Blessings2u

So I got a couple questions. First was a toilet added? And secondly how much would one of these cost to build from scratch? And lastly are you selling your version of a tiny home? This was awesome and I love how you both worked as a team to complete this! Great Job!!!

Hi Samuel no we don’t have proper toilet but we do have emergency bucket haha and it works fine 😁
From scratch and truck including it cost us I would say 22000 Canadian dollar
Would I sell it probably not because it’s my permanent home but I have thought about to build another one and sell it and maybe make business out of it .
Thank you Samuel for kind word 🤗

@@CanadianStealth you should definitely sell them I think you would really do good at it. I'd buy one with a toilet lol

    • @CanadianStealth
      @CanadianStealth  2 года назад +3

It took a year and a half to build and the truck itself was around 6,000 CAD and the entire build including tools and … mistakes lol probably 20k CAD.

But it's full of love modesty and care .. I wish you guys a beautiful journey
