    I am Jamaican and although living in the US in my culture we consume all these herbs not necessarily all at the same time but we're quite familiar with them thank you for giving us the measurements. Relocating to Ghana so it's helpful to have this information

    I love watching Aketch Joy Winnie's content. My mother and father were the first in their generation not to be farmers. My siblings and I were sent over school summer breaks to our aunts and uncles' farms. BTW non-commercial farmers think cow poop is gold. They taught us how to take a bath with teacup of water, how not to waste anything, how to compost long before there were devices that sit in our kitchen, and to darn socks rather than run to the store and buy more. Now I am an old man, and I find myself laughing at the questions she is asked as well as the answers. I especially love when the answer has the flavor of cheekiness.

    Thank you for sharing this recipe!! It’s really generous of you!!
    Do you think it would be beneficial even if the leaves are dried!? I live in Canada, where I don’t have access to any of these ingredients fresh (except garlic). But this sounds like the type of nourishment and love my body could use right now! ✨
    By the way, I really enjoy your content. I feel like the “culture” I live in is not really culture at all. If I were to describe it in 3 words it would be “competitive, consumerism, and clout.” But I crave to experience or even just be a part of a culture so rich like yours. While I acknowledge that I have privilege in this world, To me, being white and Canadian feels lonely. Community, and culture and tradition feels as blank as my lack of skin colour. Watching your videos warms my soul a bit from the coldness of my “culture.” And weather! Lol.

      Very eloquent statement 😊. The dried leaves are good too. I think the less heat applied is better but sometimes heat does not diminish properties of some herbs 🌿.

    • @LunaVioletta7
      @LunaVioletta7 7 месяцев назад +2

      I would assume dried is OK, and it’s better than nothing since you don’t have the fresh version!
      Traditional Chinese medicine is brewed from dried herbs and bark, and it’s very potent
      I would look up how to boil dried vs. fresh leaves/herbs to make sure you don’t destroy the medicinal properties!

      Canada has many herbs that are beneficial for ailments too. Such as dandelion, rhubarb, chickweed, plantain, clover, and on and on. Visit a health store with a loose leaf tea section! Or gather the herbs yourself by first getting a hold of a herb book and learning how to identify. Cheers!

    Moringa is a DEFINITE cureall, but I like to keep My tonics to a minimum number of herbs.
    So depending on the discomfort (in this case, gastric), I can think of a couple of options for stomach issues: One in particular is My preference (that goes by a different name in the Motherland), depending on whether the issue is accompanied by irregularity.
    I love that you share natural wellness tactics with your audience... You exude TRUE beauty.

    Thank you for this! This knowledge is highly valuable and to be treasured. My family is from the Andes region of South America and we also have these traditions ❤. We use plants and herbs for digestive issues, for healing cuts and infections, etc. Our sacred leaf, the coca leaf is presently greatly misunderstood and demonized because Others learned to make a specific white powder from it, and well perhaps you know the rest. Coca no es cocaina! One love from NYC 🌱🍃🌿

    growing up on the outer islands of the bahamas, i've heard of each of these plant leaves but never seen anyone throw them all together. Really thinking about it, It's kinda crazy no one ever seemed to try it. Nowadays hardly anyone makes and drinks stuff like this anymore. I p[ersonally am trying to get into drinking stuff like this due to high blood pressure and diabetes. I already have a few lemon grass growing. sadly the soil on the island where i live is extremely poor and there is no livestock here to enrich with manure. I can get the soil to be fertile i think, it's just going to take time

    I noticed you eat a lot of gluten-free starches in your village. Is it uncommon to have wheat in Uganda and how do Ugandan people tolerate gluten? Love your videos!

  • @leenb.7936
    @leenb.7936 5 месяцев назад

    This sounds tasty to me, except for the garlic, I fear that the garlic will overpower the other herbs. I love herbal tea, the lemongrass mustn’t overpower the concoction either though, that tastes like pure grass lol
    I loved the more rural parts where I have lived compared to cities because of the option to pluk fresh herbs and weeds.

    This is another example of why the deforestation taking place in South America and other places is so detrimental. Almost all medicine starts as plants. What remedies are being destroyed before they can even be known? What local knowledge is being destroyed of the use of those plants?

      We are used to having air both long and short in Uganda, it is just one’s preference especially if you are a woman, women in Uganda always decide how to keep hair and the whole community at large will embrace whatever you decide to do with your hair. Also in Uganda keeping short hair is one of the styles a woman can have. It has no cultural identity or customs attached to it.
