I am a 70 year old woman who has seen what chemicals and sugar to do to the body. I am now working on a more natural way of life. Never to late to start. Wishing I had done something differently does me no good. You and your mom gives me hope that I can go forward on this health journey. Thank you!
I have to honestly say .. your a very rare intellectual person of plant medicine.. be proud that you absorb the knowledge of learning plants as medicinal properties..
My mom is a family physician and has recently been talking about wanting to learn more herbalism so that she can also offer more natural recommendations for patients who want/need it. I’m a medical illustrator and gardening enthusiast, and I’m really hoping to be able to get more into this with my mom. I appreciate when there are more scientific explanations for herbalism as well since that tends to be how I like to learn things.
Kudos to your mom, we need more doctors like her that still care about their patients enough to want to offer a natural alternative to chemical "medacine"! God put everything we need to heal ourselves on this earth in the form of plants. I haven't gone to a physician in years.
The best advice I ever got was, yes, learn the plants growing outside your door. Learn them well, one at a time. Take a summer with one. Learn to understand through taste and smell. After some years go by and you've understood dozens of plants.. you'll slowly realize that you only really need a handful of plants to cover every need. You'll see very good herbalists in India have only ONE herb, prepared in various ways depending on the need.
And understand herbalism is not x remedy for y problem. Each person has a unique constitution (example, my daughter is dry and cool, other family members might be damp, dry, hot, cold). A "hot" person doesn't need hot remedies like ginger or garlic. Studying systems of the body is important too.
I got halfway through, and decided I needed to make a second comment. I am a mom/caregiver of a 30 year old, diagnosed with Fredreich"s Ataxia. We just passed the third anniversary of him being at home with us, again. He had been in a group home, but, no one will ever lock me away from my son, so now he's at home. I applaud your faith, young lady. It's a big step, to walk away from the system, and do the righteous thing. You will be abundantly blessed, for this action. I have been suffering severe burnout. You reminded me that I need to be grateful, and gracious. You have given me a great gift, today. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing this with me! Faith is a huge part of Herbal Medicine as well. Burnout is real and I want you to look up adrenal fatigue! Adaptogens are going to be your friends and one of my favorites is Holy Basil!
Hi Kaylee, thank you❣ I took care of my future Mother In Law Thelma who was told she had only 2 months to live. She had esophageal cancer & I was unaware that she had a dead lung when we moved her into our home. I am a (jack of many trades & a master of none) seamstress & I decorated my workroom in an English garden fashion to make it as cheerful as possible. I was her 23/7 caregiver, Hospice sent a woman to watch Thelma every day for 1 hour so I could do the shopping, mail, errands etc. I cooked & pureed enough food to last 4 months & vacuumed packed & dated it & filled my freezer with things I knew she'd enjoy. We had an indoor outdoor Atrium with my numerous potted roses, corn plant and patio umbrella table & seats. Under my care she was getting better and by the 4th month that evening when Irene came back to check on Thelma she called me into the room and asked me to listen to Thelma's lung, I heard the lung making the swooshing noise & told her it's her lung working. Irene looked at me and told me, "That lung hasn't worked in 6 years & that it was a first for her books."- I was surprised as I didn't know about it. Irene asked me what I was doing & I told her Thelma sits outside every day for a couple hours in either the Atrium or the back screened in porch (with a beautifully lush green elkhorn fern & other plants, and a white trellis I made with realistic Ivy & red flowers and we had full 6' hedges for shade snd privacy and we had a couple of chairs & a table, they're the places she smoked & would get indirect sunlight & fresh air daily and the meals I made her all had organic vegetables, she was eating 16 oz if soup for dinner nightly & I believe I made her fruit smoothies for breakfast because that's what we had in the mornings. The most important thing Thelma was getting every day & night was love. She loved watching me play with my young Amazon parrot Crystal Lynn in the morning after breakfast & again after dinner before Crystal Lynn was put to bed. Onthe 6th month Thelma basically stopped eating, only 1/4" of her soup would be eaten. That was it, I tried to tell her there would come a time where she woukd want to eat, but wouldn't be able to, so enjoy your meals while you can. She wouldn't listen, she lived for 7.5 months. After the funeral I designed & made my wedding dress, made my 3 tiered wedding cake that told the story of how we met & I decorated the church & embellished my red roses bouquet with pearls, seed beads etc. I catered the food & my oldest sister put the red toses & baby's breath in all the vases & placed one on each table. I produced our wedding & drafted our vows. All tge bridesmaids had the pattern I picked out & the fabric a pale blue embossed looking silk like material, it had to be home made. We had a red, white, & blue wedding. It was after this that I started doing all the research I could on cancer. I had nearly all of Dr. Hulda R. Clarks books on cancer & read them all & learned about Dr. Lorraine Day's book/CD Cancer doesn't scare me anymore. Her survival story. Then my online research on anything I could find out about cancer. Now I know how to treat squemous cell cancer with my own homemade salve which doesn't leave any scars behjnd & draws the cancer to the surface & it's gone Bloodroot is amazing with comfrey salve. Now I'm learning everything I can about herbs. I mKe my own Elderberry herb, bark, juice & make gummies & syrup & my bubby wants cough drops. So they'll be being made next. Thank you so much I've started getting some herbal books; Tosemary Gladstar's Herbal Recipes, The Modern Herbal Dispensatory A Medicine - Making Guide and one to pick up. I have the Herbal Medicine Maker's Handbook A Home Manual on my Amazon list. I decided to get a few of these books assp yo have them & put them to good use to help as many as I csn. My hubby's 82 & still works 40 hours a week. He's out lived both of his parents years due to his diet and the herbal supplements I have him doing, I'm Convinced beyond a a doubt that our Holy Almighty Messiah has put this fire in my heart to learn as much as I can. I want to help people who are suffering to live a healthy life. You're an inspiration 🤗🥰🙆♀️❣
@@DebbieCWellness I bought some dried bloodroot (very expensive if you can'tfirage for it yourself, grows wild in VA & PA), ground it to a powder, added Dr. Christopher's Comfrey Ointment (just barely melted), CBD oil a few drops, some organic Castor oil just enough of these items to make into a thick paste & applies it to the area(s) in question & held it in place with Press N Seal & kept it on until it fell off or became dried out ( it never dried out because I used Press N Seal). Repeat 2 - 3 days after you notice nothing left but clear skin, you want to make sure you don't leave anything behind to reform. I'm not a Dr & I tried this & it worked for my husband, he couldn't go to a surgeon due to it being so close to his eye. He had had a large squamous cell cancer form on top of his head & I was with him throughout the surgery & have photos of everything. He healed very well and the area the Mohs (sp?) Surgery on his leg healed remarkably well & his normal flesh tone came back, the surgeon was surprised. The surgeons Mohs surgery site went a dark grey. He showed it to us before my husband had to have the surgery on his head. I hope this helps. I didn't have any recipe to go by, just used what U thought would help the most. Now I'm takjng a home course on herbology with really good books, some I learned on the YT channel Honeystead. Its a great channel! Please let me know how you do. Thank you 🙋♀️.
@@kayyb Thank you very much.🙌😚🙆♀️💋 I try hard to help those that are dropped through the cracks and sent home to die when there is lots of God given herbs to help us live out healthy lives. If we all share freely what our Holy Almighty Messiah/Creator left on this earth to help us take care of ourselves, none would be without & we would all live in harmony. We need to relearn His laws;Leviticus 11 & Deuteronomy 14, for a 3rd witness Job 14-4, and obey them. The good deeds & kind acts we do on a daily & nightly basis is what will go before us before Him during our life review. Our Holy Almighty Messiah watches over His flock that obey Him & makes their enemies to be at peace with them. It doesn't have to be this way. We all need to do our own homework and learn as much as possible. 1 Samuel 8 is what got us into this mess, 2 Chronicles 7 :14 is the only answer. The return of Christ is the only other option we have. Praise our Holy Almighty Messiah/Creator for blessing us with angels to Guard over His scattered flock & report to Him of how we are serving Him in this life. Maranatha ❤ 🐑 🩸🩸🩸✝️ 🤍 🕊👑 💫🙋♀️
I am so glad for you, Thank you for sharing it is often a tough path but we trudge on and it makes us resilient. You never lose your people they are with you always and Ms Thelma smiles at the thought of you
I am 76 yrs old and have always been interested in nature and herbs. My Aunt taught me much of this. I have started making tinctures and salves. I have been made fun of by friends, had looks that would make you cringe when I tell of the medicinal properties of my tinctures and salves. But I am not stopping. I am moving forward, I learn more and more every day. Plantain salve has eased the skin eczema of a friend. She was burning and itching and miserable. She is now a believer. God gave us the knowledge and the plants to heal ourselves. Why ever would we not use them. So I use them mostly for myself and tell others about them. Thank you for all you are doing to spread the word of natural healing herbs.
Great overview on how to approach the beginner stage of becoming an herbalist. Very helpful! At 56 years old, I'm finally ready to becoming serious with it. Where I live, in rural Maine, I'm literally surrounded by healing plants. People here have literally no idea about the "Garden of Eden" that they are living in. So, I'm really encouraged by your video. I'd like to become a community herbalist over time.
I too am an inspring herbalist living in rural Maine! This spring my intention was to go pick all my dandelions and make a salve and tincture and dry some for tea. I need to quit my day job as an accoutant or get an at home position just so i dont have to drive 2.5 hours everyday. Hello neighbor!!!
@@TheHoneysteadThe entire state is absolutely gorgeous! And like the other poster said simply teeming with medicinal plants. Seems fitting that the Maine state motto is, " The way life should be!" As soon as I am able to take the time, I am signing up for your course . It is my absolute dream to have a thorough apothecary so I can always treat the people I love and myself (diabetes) in spite of whatever is going on in the world/country!
Discovered your channel today while sitting in line at the pharmacy getting yet another script for my mom. This is my first step on a life long journey. Hers and mine. ❤
ha! I would be able to match hers.... 🤣 But my room is not completely set back up yet (I painted my whole house recently) so mine is all over the place. I also have homeopathy and essential oils. My husband is always like "do you really need this much"? I am like "you never know who will need it". Especially in these times.😥 Better to have it and not need it rather than to need it and not have it.😉
Yes Ms. Kaylee Apothecary is as unique and magical as the moment she was born blessings and blessed be to our community on there journey's no matter how different or common the familiars can be we should not feel the need to capare our journey based on someone else's perceptions.
This was the best and most informative video I have seen on getting started in herbalism. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge in a step-by-step process that was not only helpful to me as a beginner, but also so incredibly inspiring. I struggle with that fear factor of jumping into unknown territory, but you have encouraged me to step out into my front yard, and have provided me with resources to get started, and for that I want to say, THANK YOU!!! I also appreciated how you addressed that herbs cannot do all of the work for a person, we have to individually take responsibility and action in living healthier lifestyles for herbalism to truly be effective. It is beautiful to witness how the Lord works through people when they obey and follow their calling. May you and your family forever be abundantly blessed!
Are you going to be offering a class online in the future because I think you would be fabulous I watch all your videos and I have learned so much from you and your mom. Thank you for all the content you are inspiring you and your mom are so inspiring. Just remember you inspire a girl from Texas that’s 50 years old and it’s learning something new that’s something old which is great.
I also have had your mom's book prescription for natural healing, for about 30 years now I have used it till the pages are about falling out, my mother who was a ICU CCU nurse gifted the book to me. Truly the book is a treasure.
It's so crazy. I'm a CNA right now. I'm in nursing school and wanting to get into surgery. I'm just now getting in to this whole thing after hearing St Johns Wort mentioned so many times in pharm lol. Thanks for the video
We could to spend a week with you and your mom, learning and experiencing like a sponge. But y’all are a long way off. It’s a blessing to us for the knowledge you are sharing. Today was extra special because you gave us a glimpse of the person in the video, the heart of where your passion comes from. God has richly blessed you. Life changed for many two years ago. You have taken that change and grown from it, and blessed thousands you’ll never meet. I tell people “learn all you can, share all you know, because truth is the greatest gift you can share with someone”. Dr Duke was and is a legend here in south Texas.
so glad to have found this channel. I started off in the medical field as a CNA as well. Also worked nursing homes specializing in alzhimers for years, ended ip in a hospital in the transplant unit and I am currently in the Er as a trauma tech I love my job but I have adopted a deep interest in herbalism that I as currently researching and hope to learn so much from. Thank you for what you show and teach in this channel. :)
OMG! You are such an inspiration to me! My husband and I are starting our homestead in upstate New York (we are in our 60's). We are making something from nothing, basically over 80 acres of field and forest. I am having a great time identifying plants, I found some yarrow that I plan on transplanting and harvested some red clover that I currently have in my dehydrator. We picked some wild raspberries and there is so much more that we haven't even discovered yet! Thank you for sharing your favorite books, I plan on expanding my library. I plan on taking an online course through the Herbal Academy this summer.
My first book I got was Dr.Duke's. I was worked as chemical lab technician. I am 69 and love learning. Your channel is very helpful. I am going to repeat this video to really get into my head. 🎉
My 11 year old daughter is interested in herbal medicine. Thanks for doing a video to help me guide her in what books to get. I would love to do classes with her as well.
I always say that even if you do a course it’s always good to start from where you are and what’s around you, family remedies, working with community herbalists / our elders and books. This will prove so valuable if you do go to school….some of the best herbalists I know never went to school in the western sense
I love your videos, and your passion for health and the well-being of others shows! I understand now why I've been so drawn to you: you're like my daughter. She has been a PCT for 14 years now, she works part-time at a local hospital to receive benefits, but Monday through Thursday, she cares for a dear lady close to us. She absolutely loves the elderly. And I see those same qualities in you. This'll be long, I'm afraid! I wanted to tell my journey. So, I love flowers, especially wild ones. I would always wistfully look at them whooshing by the car every time we went somewhere. But never took time to explore or study. Then, 2020 hit. I got STIR-CRAZY! I HAD to do something. So, I started walking through my woods. I started noticing more and more flowers, and I went out there several times a week, so I noticed new ones. I found a wildflower group geared to my state, and joined it. Then it became fun to identify and post the flowers I found on there, and there were always people kind enough to help if I couldn't, or to correct if I misidentified one. When we got to October, I was still doing it! And that's when I saw a beautiful little speck of purple in my yard. I went back and pulled on it, and discovered a beautiful plant called Self-heal. I was excited, because even my identification guide told me it was used for healing by the Native Americans. That’s what started me on my journey. I wasn't alien to using herbs, but I just bought them from a neighbor who sold excellent quality tinctures. That seems to be how I am. I find one, I learn, I craft a product and see if it helps. Self-heal was a super find, and we use it internally and externally in salves. This year, I harvested new teasel roots to make a tincture for pain. I'm pushing 60, and my husband is 62 this year, do we have lots of aches and pains. I found St. John's Wort growing wild. I've made goldenrod tincture for allergies. This year, I started a medical herb garden. It's been quite a trip. And I'm glad I found your channel, because it is very helpful to me. God bless you and your family!
I love how God allows you to see the herbs! Sometimes it is like the plants demand our attention. The ones who take the time to listen are meant to share with other who haven’t seen them yet. I am so happy that you are listening and offering them to not only support you, but also your family! Keep going and I think it is lovely what your daughter is doing 💛
Pardon me for being dramatic, but I felt like it was kismet that you showed Prescription for Nutritional Healing. I flipped through that book many times as a kid/teenager/young adult and my Dad has often used it as a reference, too. This channel is one of the ones that has inspired me to look more into herbalism and this just continues to show me I’m on the right track. Thank you!
I took a picture of my herbs. I can grow in pots! I have a friend is a doctor. I showed her my pots. She was so excited! I am so proud and excited for you!
The Green Pharmacy was the first book that got me started in herbalism. My grandmother gifted it to me a few years ago. Now I have a ever growing collection of herbal books. I was super excited when you told us that it was your first book also.
This is sept 2024. I started my journey with mullein this summer. I found it by the lake and few other places. Saved a bunch of tops so ivcan plant it in the spring. I have like 6 quart size jars full for the winter and have a tincure vrewi g its almost ready. I also just made a dandelion root tincture. Anyway, enjoying learning about herbalism. Thank-you for videos, learning lots.
Because of you and your mom I have a beautiful herbal garden growing now. I have enjoyed learning so much about each plant I grow to help my family. I am tired of all the chemicals they put in medicine with all the bad side effects. Thank you for taking us along in your journey and taking the time to teach us about plants and bees along the way. :)
The Green Pharmacy was my first book as well. I acquired it from my father along with other similar books. He & my sister were about to throw them out after my stepmother passed several years ago. But what really drove me into this has been over the last couple of years of not being about to trust the healthcare industry and healing myself from a severely sprained ankle, shingles, cracked wrist & nearly cutting the end of my finger off, plus other illnesses because I refused to go back to a doctor. Niether do my children or husband. Then this past year I opened a shop for local artisans in my area of NC. 2 vendors of my vendors actually make their own beauty care among other natural items. Now I'm wanting to bring natural healing & prevention tinctures, oils, salves, teas, etc... to the shop. I love learning but am also a visual learning as well, but will watch all of your videos for more resources. Any advice is very much appreciated. Thank you & your mom for the time & dedication.
Your apothecary encouraged me to change the previous owner's dry bar, that I used for general storage, into my own apothecary. I have gotten *so* much more value out of that space in the last couple of months than I had the previous four years!
I am just starting out and you and a couple other RUclips channels have given me the courage and confidence to start. I have wild Lettuce tincture brewing and today just foraged mullein got a few buds in avocado oil and drying leaves in the dehydrator. I want to try and help my husband get off the opiate pharmaceutical drugs. Chronic pain head to toe and neuropathy. Baby steps, want to get comfrey but May have to purchase it. Next year want to grow my own medicinal garden.
I’m looking at adding Comfrey to our garden as well as I haven’t seen it growing wild here in GA. Was looking into PermaPasture’s (I think that’s there RUclips channel). Hope this helps. 👍🏻
I’m always open to more books on herbalism. I’ll check out your store and purchase through your link. That was me, Living Apothecary. Your place truly is and it’s how I view our place also. I have fond memories of foraging with my mom at a young age. She passed away on Mothers Day 2022. She was a nurse. I’m out in our Living Apothecary daily. This morning, during my daily tour, I did discover a groundhog in one of my garden beds and it looks like something is nibbling on my elderberry bushes. I enclosed the fence that surrounds that largest garden and if it persists, I will install cow panels around the garden beds.
Ohhh yay! I’m so glad you commented! Thank you again for that term! It is so very special! I know your mom would be happy to see that you are continuing 💛 we had a squirrel issue this year with our corn! They just keep digging it up :/
@@TheHoneystead We have a few squirrels in our plum tree. My father passed away a little over three months after my mom passed away last year. I was his primary caregiver up until the last month of his life. He moved into the hospital and, about the last week, hospice. I have much respect/admiration for caregivers. He was utterly bedridden while I cared for him. I must say my job was wonderful and worked with me. I took time away to care for him and visit my mom daily. It was a massive shock for my brother and me since they both were very active. They are still missed; however, we have plenty of beautiful memories. I did have to take care of myself afterward, and I still am. I’ve always been the nurturing type, so I have to remind myself to stop and tend to myself. I am getting better. I have Medical Herbalism. I have a scientific mind also. Excellent book, and I highly recommend it to others.
My current struggle is finding other analytical individuals who don't ONLY rely on the folk history of a plant. Those are the individuals I want to be able to find and network with. I am a first year student with Wild Rose College (community herbalist) with the goal to become a Registered Herbalist. I'm making plans for my future and your video was informative and helps answers questions :).
I am loving your videos and learning so much from you both talking about all the medicinal herbs , I am living in South Africa and want to try start a medicinal garden, I wanted this since I was a child , now I am in my seventies and you really inspire me to go and try this , thank you 😀
I was a CNA in an assisted living facility for Alzheimers and Dementia patients too!!! There's something about that that moves you... in so many ways. ❤
I watched the video with your mom when she suggested buying the book "Preppers Natural Medicine" and wanted to thank her for the recommendation. It's a wonderful source and I love it!,
Rosemary Gladstar has great beginner herbalism books and can be a starting point for folks interested in the folk method and just starting to understand the essence of the plants and more wise woman way.
🥹😭thank you so much I am starting out with making tinctures and wanting help my friends and loved ones. I always feel like oh everyone knows these things and I hold back from really attempting to try get it out there. I have had a mimosa tree for 10years and have dealt with so much over those years only to come find out that the very tree I admire to look at is the very tree that is an antidepressant, anti anxiety tree. I just made my first tincture and waiting the 6 weeks to use it. Im excited on this new journey. Thank you so much for the encouragement and the love that you show in all your videos it has truly been a blessing and a sigh of relief
I am 72. I have diabetes and RA, among others. I am currently going gluten free. I did discover Meadowsweet, I love chamomile. I have several books on herbalism and have been self learning for years. I Love your channel and can't wait to learn more from you !! Thank you ❤
I have studied with a lot of people over the years. Done a lot of herbal walks with Chris Marano. He is great. Although if I had to choose, Matthew Wood is hands down my favorite; just because of his wealth of knowledge and experience; and his micro dosing. . Because of him I became a micro-doser. And made me appreciate homeopathy even more. I now use both. I also use essential oils. Natural healing is amazing. Raised my family without a doctor.😃
I have recently started a masters diploma in herbalism its incredibly insightful, learning that mother nature's beautiful natural herbs can help in so many different ways. Loving every minuet of my studying.
I appreciate your videos immensely and am blessed by the relationship you have with your mom. You’re very blessed. You played a part of my enrolling in the Homegrown Herbalist Botanical online school. I Ve learned so much from Dr. Jones, also appreciate he is a believer. Thanks for all you do, I know how much ch work it is having a channel.m🌟♥️✝️🇨🇦
Yes yes and YES!!! Congratulations 🎉that is on my “next” list. I want to save up and enroll this fall/Christmas. I also appreciate his beliefs as well as his approach and sense of humor. And the fact that through being a veterinarian he has been able to use and see first hand how herbs can and have worked is such a blessing! Excited for you! God’s speed and blessings on your journey ❤️
Thank you again you are inspirational I would like to have half of your energy. I so enjoy the 4 generations of Wild Women it reminds me of my wild women some are only with us in spirit so glad you have made your place
I have found you in the last week and instantly subscribed. Your channel, you and your Mum are such a blessing 🙏 I am very new to foraging and herbs. I am in the UK but we have pretty much all the same herbs and wild flowers I have come across so far! Started off with finding self heal in my garden and was blown away as I have never been shown it or even knew what it was. Now I am identifying and learn about everything I can find, I now have a few tinctures and infused oils for salves around the house 😊. Our father in heaven has created such an amazing world for us to discover and heal ourselves with. Have a blessed week🙏
Just finding you through this video and I’m glad I did! Your vibe is incredible and the passion shines brightly. No mistake that you love what you do and I’m excited to dive through all of your videos!
I just found you, i live in the Netherlands. Thank you for your advice and chats. You bring some joy into my life which is sadly missing. I love nature and all she offers us. The peace, the food the wonderful sites throughout the seasons.
I’m new to herbal healing but started with the encyclopedia of medicinal herbs. I find myself using echinacea and dandelion route mostly but never even thought about growing something like arnica like you mentioned you inspired me to grow things and depend on herbs more. PS I absolutely love that. You involve your children at such a young age and such important things as to identify plants and foraging. God bless you and your family.
I’ve been a homesteader for over 40 years. I’ve never known about an apothecary nor being an herbalist. Glad I found your site. I cannot remember what I was searching though but still glad I found you!!
I love your channel. I think its great working with your mom. I miss my mom we you used to spend alot of time together do crafts and canning and projects. You are awesome.
Love your encouraging reminders that a huge apothecary isn't necessary. And I also enjoy seeing what it looks like to support a community with herbalism!
You have a skill for explaining. I’ve learned more in this video than I’ve ever learned from other videos on herbs. I’m so glad I ran across your channel. I’m a nurse and I think like that myself.
Yesterday I was at work. I saw perselain everywhere! I was so excited! I realized I can't harvest any of it. The place I work sprays pesticides! Happy that I knew what it was, but can't risk it!
I’m feeling pretty awesome that over the years I have 50% of the books your mentioning and I’m motivated by this video which I have saved and rewatched and I’m finally developing my apothecary healing garden and studio space on my land Thank you for sharing
Love all this! My process into learning about herbalism is similar! Late winter, I started a google spreadsheet and used 4 different books, pubmed, and healthline, to start learning about some of the herbs I'm most interested in using medicinally and taking notes from each source, so I could cross compare all my sources before deciding if an herb would be beneficial for my family. My list has close to 30 herbs and I made it through about a third of them before spring kicked in, and then the gears shifted to outside work. I'm getting ready to make my first echnicea and elderberry tinctures in the coming week so we're ready for the fall and winter, and I am looking forward to finishing my herb database this fall and winter. Found your channel while sitting out by the fire in March while boiling maple sap, and have been a regular ever since! Thanks for your time and knowledge! Best wishes!
Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge! I am just barely getting started. My Mom always had a way with plants and her garden. I am starting with the plants I grew up with up and then moving from there. So for now it is chile pequin, basil, I want to plant chives, aloe vera. I hope to make my own tintures and homemade teas soon:)
Im just turning 18 and my family are telling me to go to college and do herbalism but i havent seen any colleges with my interest and i would love to have a mentor or someone who i can learn from. Thank you for this video it really helps and i will consider your online course ❤
We have a lot in common. I have the same career history and more. I went to New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics and was introduced to herbology. I enjoy your channel because I'm developing a permaculture food forest in my back yard as a hobby in preparation for retirement and I find your channel and others like it reminds me of things I've forgotten sometimes and sometimes I learn new things. Thank you! Glory to God! 🙏🕯☦️❤️
I'm so very grateful for everything you and your mom share I have learned so much from you guys! I have big dreams of starting a herbalism business eventually in the next few years as I have been a stay at home mom for the last ten years and just started working at a nursery because I just love teaching people gardening and working with plants! My main goal for next year is to get us chickens and hopefully having my own bees! I've had a small apothecary garden at home that I've been growing for the past seven years but by next year my plan is to expand by much more. I'm so excited and have been making all the lists of things I want to add that are new and stuff I'm already growing that I want more of. We have quite a large veggie garden as well and I love to preserve all the time things I can! I'm so inspired by how you share your love of herbalism. It's encouraged me to teach more of my family the things I have learned as well and it feels so good when they see how well herbs can help them and all the things they can find and learn about themselves if they just look around their own properties! ❤
I’m just now starting my apothecary. Like… I’m in the research phase. As in I started yesterday lol. Thank you for your video(s) I will be diving into them and walking around the many halls of your knowledge! I’m excited to see where the journey takes me. Xoxo
I am starting to try to heal from chronic Lyme using a renowned herbal tincture protocol. One of the main plants is Japanese knotweed which fascinates me as there is great fear and hatred about this amazing plant amongst the general population.
I found what the experts are saying is chanterelles yesterday, but I haven't had the nerve to cook and eat them.😂 maybe if I was in a survival situation and hungry. Ha ha. i'm glad Jess talked to you into starting a channel!
How cool is that that your kids are on board? My adult, son and daughter are both now using Mushroom tinctures and mushroom tea. My son and my granddaughter love to forage with me. Foraging is by far my favorite activity regarding gathering, wild food and medicine.
I’ve shared your channel with many people I thought should hear about natural herbs and what and how to prepare and use them. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and wisdom. Alberta Canada
I'm enrolled in Alternative Medicine program at my university. My professors have been showing your videos during our lectures. This is how I found you🤗.
One of the things I share when were identifying plants , is to suggest they pick three herbs, maybe even look alikes…start in the spring and follow it thru it’s cycle. Learn where it grows, how much sun it needs.. what grows neat it, because those plants , which like the same soil, will be growing nearby. I feel as if if you learn them these way, the become part of you. Thanks for all you share. 😊 I love that you brought up multiple uses of individual plants, what we have called simples.. when to harvest which part and what each part is good for. This love of herbal medicine covers so many things, haha!
Excellent video. I've been a gardener for over 40 years, as was my father and his parents, I started learning about healing herbs from my grandmother as a child, and have seen that God has blessed us with everything we need for our health in the plants he gave us. Like you, I grow comfry, for the healing salve, as well as a tea to provide my veggies with nutrients. Life is a learning journey, and anyone can learn about herbalism and gardening, all it takes is desire and effort.
Can I ask you if you don't mind..Where are you farming (Wich State)? I am from Algeria 🇩🇿 and I'm interested to explore the Details of Agriculture All around the world 🌍 started with 🇺🇸
I wish I had someone like you when I started on my herbal journey. My 1st book was also Green Pharmacy many years ago. The reasoning why I got into herbalism was for my family. My son was an otc lip balm fanatic and over time would break out. We tried everything. Decided to make my own. Everyone loves it. Keep up the great work ❤
I looked at an old herb encyclopedia I had and now I'm down this rabbit hole that I hope can be something I can stick with. Thank you for giving all of your knowledge
I just found you and appreciate your style and openness to share your passion and experience with herbalism. I’m a homeschooling mom of five in the southwest and can’t wait to continue learning and healing my family with plants. (Really glad you shared your booklist especially!) Thank you, and God bless you and your family! 🌿
One of my very first books wad the green pharmacy as well. My Nana gave it to me years ago, and she was always working with plants and herbs, and always imparting new herbal knowledge to me and my cousins. I believe that is part of what led one to become a pharmacist and one to becoming an M. D. Whi also practices natural and holistic healing. I have always been interested in all the plants and natural healing. I love growing and spending time learning about the plants
I can't wait for all the new learning you provide. God is my life, and heart, but all the natural things he has created for us to use, is the most amazing gift ❤
Check out our online herbalism course- school.thewhisperingwillowfarm.com/offers/ggYWznWJ/checkout
Are there more details available as to what specifically is taught in the course?
give us a book who speaks about combination in tinctures !!
Do you receive a type of certificate of completion or certification that you can hold for yourself?
Hello I'm very interested in taking the course I also would like to know if I can use this course as a certification
I'd like more information. Once you've paid for the course, what then? Are you sent a sign-up link....? Need more detail as to steps.
I am a 70 year old woman who has seen what chemicals and sugar to do to the body. I am now working on a more natural way of life. Never to late to start. Wishing I had done something differently does me no good. You and your mom gives me hope that I can go forward on this health journey. Thank you!
I am so happy for you!!! It is never too late!
I am 63. I wish I had known about this 30 years ago. But, maybe I can teach my girls and son for their kids.
Same here, 61 and wanting land and start growing my own stuff, but at the same time terrified
Thank you for inspiring me to learn something old. I'm just getting started
Right there with you. Never too old to learn something new!
I wish she was my doctor! That’s awesome. Good luck to you both💗
You may (or not) want to check out Dr Jin Sung..
Your om sounds cool, good luck for both of you❤
Kudos to your mom, we need more doctors like her that still care about their patients enough to want to offer a natural alternative to chemical "medacine"!
Ethically foraging is the way to go!! Once you learn one plant, you’ll never look at any plant the same way!
And understand herbalism is not x remedy for y problem. Each person has a unique constitution (example, my daughter is dry and cool, other family members might be damp, dry, hot, cold). A "hot" person doesn't need hot remedies like ginger or garlic. Studying systems of the body is important too.
I love your channel!!😍😍😍
Maybe the plants growing in your back yard are growing there because they are the plants you need to heal
Remember to fill your cup as you are constantly pouring it out for others 💛
Hi Kaylee, thank you❣
I took care of my future Mother In Law Thelma who was told she had only 2 months to live.
Wow thanks for sharing your story! What salve did you use to topically draw cancer out?
@@DebbieCWellness
I bought some dried bloodroot (very expensive if you can'tfirage for it yourself, grows wild in VA & PA), ground it to a powder, added Dr.

Thank you very much.🙌😚🙆♀️💋
I try hard to help those that are dropped through the cracks and sent home to die when there is lots of God given herbs to help us live out healthy lives.
1 Samuel 8 is what got us into this mess,
2 Chronicles 7 :14 is the only answer.
The return of Christ is the only other option we have.
Praise our Holy Almighty Messiah/Creator for blessing us with angels to
Guard over His scattered flock & report to Him of how we are serving Him in this life.

What a lovely story. thanks for sharing.
I am so glad for you, Thank you for sharing it is often a tough path but we trudge on and it makes us resilient. You never lose your people they are with you always and Ms Thelma smiles at the thought of you
Have you thought of an online class for teaching the basics of herbalism? You and your mom are natural teachers and I would for sure sign up!
I have very happy memories walking to the school bus every day with my mum and learning the plants on the roadside
I am in love and obsessed with Plantain and dandelions right now.
I do bad want to visit Maine! My husband and I talk about how beautiful it must be!!
Exactly. Find a good book, learn the plants that are near you, make things, see how they feel for your body. That is ALL you need.
Yes Kaylee, you have set up an Apothecary that is a complete, full blown, self contained unit. No other one compares to yours.
💛 thank you Alan!
I'm just starting on my herbalism journey and I am so glad i came across your videos! thank you!
Thank you Jennifer 🥰 I just hope everything that I share is helpful for those who need to hear it💛
@@TheHoneystead they are dear daughter in Christ, believe me you touch more lives than you will ever know, or rather, He touches them through you.
Amen my sisters, amen!!!
I took some medical terminology and it has been a very useful tool in herbalism for me. I have started doing a lot more overlap in my studies.
I took Latin in school and it has helped tremendously!
@@TheHoneystead Oh my goodness YES!!! Through Classical Conversations homeschooling we are learning Latin and it is incredibly helpful! So cool!!!
Thank you so much for this! We bought a couple of the different Peterson Guides and would love to add some books to our arsenal.
Same here ❤
My first book I got was Dr.Duke's. I was worked as chemical lab technician. I am 69 and love learning. Your channel is very helpful. I am going to repeat this video to really get into my head. 🎉
Dr. Duke definitely made a name for himself and I love all his books!
@@TheHoneystead The Lord has been SO GOOD to me! And thank you for your comment!❤️
Oh, that's a great idea. I have a dry bar that just gathers dust and the rarely used things I hide behind it.
I am loving your videos and learning so much from you both talking about all the medicinal herbs , I am living in South Africa and want to try start a medicinal garden, I wanted this since I was a child , now I am in my seventies and you really inspire me to go and try this , thank you 😀
I'm going to check out your books. I got the hanging drying rack. I love it!

"Learn something old" I LOVE THAT!!! You guys have been such an inspiration!!!! Thank you for being!!!
I also enjoy Matthew wood! We got to here him speak last year… it was very cool!
Does Chris have a channel?
I have recently started a masters diploma in herbalism its incredibly insightful, learning that mother nature's beautiful natural herbs can help in so many different ways. Loving every minuet of my studying.
I haven't seen you in a long time! Hope your mom is fine. I thoroughly enjoy you working with her!
18:00 they are! An attitude of gratitude goes far
Sept. 2024. I have done my first fire cider. You have gotten me hooked! Got my first herb book Rosemary Gladstar ordered.
Just finding you through this video and I’m glad I did! Your vibe is incredible and the passion shines brightly. No mistake that you love what you do and I’m excited to dive through all of your videos!
Im a disabled medical assistant with several health issue and im wanting to get into nutritional healing snd herbalism. So glad i found your channel.
I order from Hoss tools. Love them. They also have a you tube channel that's very helpful for learning how to grow crops & things.
Oh cool I didn’t know about there channel. Thank you for sharing!
Love Hoss Tools! Thank you for what you are doing for all of us!
Just Beautiful
Love your encouraging reminders that a huge apothecary isn't necessary. And I also enjoy seeing what it looks like to support a community with herbalism!
You have a skill for explaining. I’ve learned more in this video than I’ve ever learned from other videos on herbs. I’m so glad I ran across your channel. I’m a nurse and I think like that myself.
Yesterday I was at work. I saw perselain everywhere! I was so excited! I realized I can't harvest any of it. The place I work sprays pesticides! Happy that I knew what it was, but can't risk it!
You are so inspiring🤩 Your family is living the dream..! Thank you for sharing your journey & encouraging us all❤
I’m feeling pretty awesome that over the years I have 50% of the books your mentioning and I’m motivated by this video which I have saved and rewatched and I’m finally developing my apothecary healing garden and studio space on my land
Thank you for sharing
I’m currently taking courses through the herbal academy! It’s pretty amazing but I am just getting started. 😊
God bless you… my mom has dementia FTD and my sister and I just had to admit her to a home after caring for her for the last five or so years❤
Love your Energy 🎉 love the Reality you all bring! Stay Real our lives need more Real ? Care centers need this
Im just turning 18 and my family are telling me to go to college and do herbalism but i havent seen any colleges with my interest and i would love to have a mentor or someone who i can learn from. Thank you for this video it really helps and i will consider your online course ❤
The Shepherd's Purse open my eyes back in the 90's. Thank you for your honesty. God's Angel's charge over you and your family 🙏
Thank you for sharing this. Thank you so much!
Have you read - unlocking Lyme?
Teenager? Did you have her when you were 10? That’s a compliment! You look so healthy and youthful! I love your content, and thank you, for sharing.
I started a hebal remedy business wich led me to finding your vids and i have to say vary pleased with what i see keep up the terrific work girl big 👍
You're awesome. Thank you for this video and what you're doing for Herbalism, Health, and Community. 😇
Awesome! Thank you! 💛💛💛
"I unalived it" 😂 my newest phrase!
Hoping to grow more medicinals this year and actually learn how to use them, lol! Thanks for the resources ❤
I'm enrolled in Alternative Medicine program at my university. My professors have been showing your videos during our lectures. This is how I found you🤗.
Ohh wow!!!! That’s soo cool!
I love that you brought up multiple uses of individual plants, what we have called simples.. when to harvest which part and what each part is good for. This love of herbal medicine covers so many things, haha!
It is greater to inspire ✨️
than to be inspired ❤
That book is one of the first I bought also. It was at a library book sale. Love it!
I am from Algeria 🇩🇿 and I'm interested to explore the Details of Agriculture All around the world 🌍 started with 🇺🇸
Hi Kaylee....will you be writing a book? I have learned so much from your channel. Thank you for all you do and for saring so much with us.
First time watching excited to learn
The book you showed that belongs to your mom, I have the Herbal version and look forward to getting this one too! Excellent book!
Keep up the great work ❤
Hi from Scotland. Here to listen and learn. 😊❤
