    I have been using this method for years now. I started with Cricut mats. I used a bench scraper to get the old glue off with Goof Off. Make sure you let mat dry before using Tack It Over and Over. The mat needs to be conditioned before using which means to put your hands all over the mat several times so that your paper doesn't rip when removing it after cutting. Put only one thin coat of Aleen's on the mat! I love doing this for my scrappin' friends!

    Great tip to extend the use of the mat. I will try it soon! Thanks

    By accident I found that spraying alcohol on the mat takes the glue off great and leaves no residue. You still have to use paper towels and a card to scrape. But it works better that goo gone.

    Omg thank you so much my first time using my machine and the vinyl cut all the way through to the paper and was left picking the paper off. Ill just go gone it and re tack. I’ve spent over an hour picking paper off and I’m barely 1/4 done 😂

    Much as this is a good way to restick your mats, you can easily damage the scanner using glues. These adhesives will come off the mat and attach to your rollers and scanner unit making your machine worthless. There are restick sheets made by Brother for your machine that are designed to be used with the machine. Please don't risk your machines worth hundreds of dollars over a mat that will cost you 20 or an adhesive sheet roll that will cost you 15. Good luck.

    I bought a cricut mat (£16 for 2) cut it down and stuck it on my scan n cut mat and it is brilliant. I tried every other method with no long term joy. By the way, Mel Heaton recommended using Pinflair stencil glue watered down, she didn't give details of how much to how much, so I experimented, total rubbish.

      Mario Anton Armas it depends on how much you use them really. In my opinion not as long as they should. Sorry I couldn't be more exact than that.

    Cn you use clear Gel tacky Glue by Aleenes

      Patricia Irvin I haven't used that myself, but if you can test it on a laminated piece of paper first then that would give you a good idea whether it would be suitable for your mat.

    Hi,can I use normal pva glue,because in my country I can t find it and to buy it online is a little expensive

    • @EasySewing4Beginners
      @EasySewing4Beginners  8 лет назад

      Hi. No, normal PVA glue won't work as it's not sticky once it dries. there may be some tacky sprays available in your country that could work, but you would need to do some testing with them. I hope that helps 😀

    Do you have to remove the sticky on the mat? Can you just do the rest of it?

      You could probably retack over the existing glue. Removing the existing glue gives you a nice clear base again.

    Just tried it, unfortunately it gets way too sticky and all the stickers I made aren't any good now :(
    I guess the best thing is to just buy a new mat meh

    A far easier way to retack your mat is to use a 'Zig 2 way glue pen'

    Please wear disposable gloves when applying toxic products like that Goop Gone. Your skin is like a sponge and instantly soaks up that crap.
