3D Land isn't my favorite Mario game, but if I pick up 3D Land, I usually play through it from beginning to end as fast as I can, usually in one sitting. I actually really enjoyed how the game tracked the fastest time you beat a level in. Finding all the cool ways to cut corners off my time occupied at least one or two of my high school years.

I'm definitely psyched for the 3D World review. It seems you have a lot to say about the game, sure, but it's still my favorite Main Series Mario game honestly.
As much as I love Super Mario 64 DS & Super Mario Land 2, 3D Land is my favorite handheld Mario game. It's a perfectly simple pick up & play game on the go and the best blend of 3D and 2D Mario. It's only major flaw is, like you said, it lacks innovation or at least something to make it stand out. I wished 3D Land or 3D World used assets and characters from Super Mario Land 1 and 2. You know, Sarasaland, Daisy, Tatanga, the weird yet fun stages & bosses from those games. That would've helped making 3D Land more memorable but I guess they were too worried on making it more similar to Super Mario Bros 3 instead of being a follow-up to the Mario Land games.
I don't know if you get commented on this a lot, but you have pretty good video editing skills. Like when you talk about movements and jump options you actually showcase situations where those things become necessary. You manage to show everything you want to explain and that's pretty cool
I actually played 3D Land again today, and I still love this game. Compared to 3D World (since it's quite the same Mario series) I think 3D Land is much better. The levels felt really creative and balanced out over the game. The fact that it was like a 2D Mario in a 3D environment didn't bother me, it felt good this way. Maybe because I already expected it wouldn't be as the Galaxy series for example. The game isn't challenging though, but there are some okay challenges post-game. Bowser battles are quite amazing, and I love what they did with the final boss. This is the perfect example of an 'escape Bowser instead of fighting him' concept which is actually very good. And I still think the graphics for a 3D portable Mario game are nice and still holds up today. Yup, I love 3D Land lol

I really liked this game honestly, for level speed running. with streetpass, completing a level let's you see who's the fasted of the people you have passed. It became somewhat of an addiction to get first place on each stage, Which is where long jumping comes in handy.
It's lets, not let's. The abbreviation "let's" means "let us," as in "let us go to the movies," while "lets" is simply a conjugated verb. Please learn grammar and you'll avoid unnecessary key presses.
Let’s be serious, 64 DS was awesome!!! It didn’t have that many missions where you had to use precise controls to get somewhere Nitro. Except for getting inside the volcano and walking across the bridge over Windswept Valley in Tiny Huge Island and walking across the bridge to get into Wiggler’s cave in Tiny Huge Island. That’s it!!
Young Fox 2 or there’s such a thing as somebody liking a game more than someone else. I like 3D land because it has actual analog support. You can actually move around in that game. Playing 64ds with 8 directions can get extremely frustrating in the later levels with more tricky platforming.
The special worlds of this game was definitely my favorite part of it. I just found the game okay when I played the regular worlds, but the special worlds are more challenging, and it made the game more fun to me. It's not as amazing as the Super Mario Galaxy games of course, but it's still fun.
Alfons Hedström It was pretty boring. Wasn't true 3D. Too easy, even if you 100% it. Very little exploration. Had a timer. Etc. I'd rather just play Mario Bros 3. Just my opinion tho.
Having never played 3D Land and jumping straight to 3D World, I always thought the 3DS version was just a watered down version of the Wii U game with worse graphics. I'm pleasantly surprised to see it's strong enough to be a standalone title, independent enough that you didn't even compare it to 3D World once. Very well crafted review, I respect the decision to go for the capture card.
In an interview with Shigeru Miyamoto, it was said that they opted for the full Tanuki suit rather than just the ears so that it would be easier to see his transformation.
Amazing video, it was really nice to hear someone else's opinion of this game. It was in depth and straight forward, Can't wait to see the 3D World review!
Super Mario 3D land was actually my first Mario game. You see, I avoided it because everyone was all about that Xbox and Sony and that kinda spread on me, so I avoided Nintendo for a while. I was like 12 when it came out, and after years of disliking it, I started to wonder: Why is Nintendo bad? Why does everyone prefer Xbox or Sony? So that Christmas, I decided to get a Blue Nintendo 3DS with Super Mario 3D land as my first game. This was a huge risk because I never touched Nintendo before and no one in my grade(as far as I know) tried it, so I got it. And let me tell you: I had a BLAST. I played that game nonstop, and the entire experience jut blew my mind! After that my Xbox started collecting dust as I tried out more Nintendo games like Pokemon and had some of the best gaming experiences I have ever had! This game kinda is the reason why I am a Nintendo fan at all. It introduced me to, Nintendo! Mario Kart 7, Pokemon ultra moon, Pokemon Y, Legends of Zelda: orcarina of time(3DS version), all some of my favorite video games of all time! While I never got the Wii, Wii U, Nintendo Switch, for reasons, I will always love my 3DS and Nintendo overall, because of this game! Even watching let's plays of games like Super Mario Maker or Pikmin 3 were way more fun then playing Xbox games! Yeah, people made fun of me, but I didn't care! I kept on playing Nintendo games on the 3DS and watching gameplays of ones I couldn't play. And since the Wii U is way cheaper then before(I saw on at $120!), I hope I can experience the games I missed out on the first time! I am talking Kirby return to dreamland, Super mario galaxy, Mario kart 8, all of it. Thanks to this game I love Nintendo as much as I do, and while I do agree with the flaws of this game, I will always be grateful to this game!
Tbh I love this game entirely because it combines my three favorite Mario games of all time into one hand held title. It's purely built for me and I get that.
You know how you said there could should have been exits that require a specific power-up? There are those dials that raise the platform only if you whack it with a Tanooki Tail. And there are some Star Medals that require the Boomerang Flower to reach
I love this game, it was one of my introductions to video games. I loved it, and i loved the levels. Fast forward now and i just got Super Mario 3D World for switch and i loved it! It reminded me SO much of this game. Im thinking of picking this game up again soon
It’s a 7/10 for me. While the level design was admittedly tight and the game was pretty fun, everything else was just...bland. The music is easily the weakest in the series, the worlds are generic, the game barely does anything interesting, and Mario’s controls are boring. Although I will admit, the after content in this game is pretty great. I know it consisted of rehashed levels, but the challenge from them was pretty admirable. Same thing with the final stage. I, personally think 3d world was a step up from this game.
This was the start of a dark age for Mario games, honestly. Following the Mario Bible to a T (Generic worlds, enemies, story and all that) and being a very boring game until the later half where it doesn't even feel that fun. The stupid padding with the flagpoles was what killed it for me. 3D World felt like a better game overall but both games are awful as 3D Mario games and I honestly don't even count the two as 3D Mario games. They feel like 2D games in a "What if 64 didn't exist" scenario, and thus play like a major, generic step back. It was really awful being a Wii U owner and having this as the second 2D Mario game while a true 3D adventure didn't come out at all for the system. (Though Captain Toad was a lot more fun and charming to the point I'd consider that game to be the Wii U's hit Mario exclusive)
I gotta admit, some of the moons can get pretty repetitive at times, which is a pretty valid complaint & there are some moons in the game that did not need to be there like in the cloud kingdom & ruined kingdom, however to play devils advicot past 3D Mario games had its fair shares of repetitive tasks & filler post game content like most of the star tasks in 64 & the Galaxy games or the Green stars in Galaxy 2, so those issues aren't really exclusive to Odyssey, it's just that its more noticeable in Odyssey than it is in other 3D Marios. Though personally I think Galaxy 2 did a MUCH worst job with its filler content with the green stars than the filler moons in Odyssey. At least the moons in Odyssey doesn't kick you out of the level every single time you get a moon like the green stars does in Galaxy 2, which was just the worst...
TheUltimateSucc Honestly I don't even consider the Ruined Kingdom as a level, I just see it as a glorified boss arena, same goes for the Cloud Kingdom, & And honestly I don't think the game itself considers them to be levels, since those Kingdoms don't have purple coins to collect like the other Kingdoms do, with the Dark Side levels being the exception.
As a long time Mario fan, I personally really hate this game...In my opinion this is easily the worst of the 3D Mario game. To me it's the Sticker Star of the 3D Mario games. This game just feels so lifeless, soulless, barebones & uninteresting to play. Bland & uninspired level designs, lazily made boss fights, even by 3D Mario standards, mediocre soundtrack, lack of wow factor & imagination, & the game focusing WAAAY too much on Mario 3 nostalgia pandering rather than coming up with fresh new ideas. Of all the 3D Mario games I played, this is the only 3D Mario game that left sour taste in my mouth...I'll take 64, Sunshine, the Galaxy games & especially Odyssey over this game anyday. Hell I'll even take 3D World over this game. At least 3D World attempted to be a little more unique with its level designs & gameplay, even though it isn't done that much, not to mention having a MUCH better soundtrack.
I found this more like the Mario Land of the 3D games. (Quite literally too.) Just small, unintrusive, showing off the systems capabilitys and I actually like the level design as it takes a hint from Mario Galaxy 2 and, I actually like the soundtrack as simple as it is. Its not my favorite 3D game, yeah, but I never felt like I wasted my money or that it was in poor taste and laziness. I found that the second half of the game pretty amazing, the only thing I'd say I don't like about this game is the style, and the fact to unlock the final level you have to touch all of the tips of flagpoles with both mario and luigi. I would actually reccomend this game if you enjoy the Galaxy games.
I don’t hate this game personally, but I just think it’s very mundane and very uninspired. I used to think it was great, but now it’s just.....meh. It’s a good thing I traded it in for more better games.
The reason I hate this game and 3d world is because you think it's just next level over and over again..which I'm fine with *nope apparently!!!* I FREAKING HATE THE STAR MEDALS AND GREEN STARS! I remember just searching for hours and hours searching for enough to get to the next level, so if you simply beat a level in the hunt for star medals/green stars..... You don't feel congratulated any way

Oh also it would be awesome to see you work on a video in collaboration with Caddicarus. You both propose very high quality reviews on the internet and having your two opinions on a game would be awesome.
Also i'm sure it would help you grab some new subscribers.
I talked to my friends about how good your channel is to help your channel but doing collaboration with famous youtubers could be way more effective.
Greetings from France
yeah!!!! 😍😍😍😍😉
I remember getting a 2DS and Super Mario 3D Land with it and I was busy for EVER. I have that game completed. It was a fun time of my childhood!
That’s it!!
My favourite portable mario game.
you like it more than SM ODYSSEY ?
WTF
LugyD1xd ONE
It's only portable half of the time
So it's not 64 DS? It's okay, even the most intelligent of people can be wrong once.
LugyD1xd ONE I don’t have odyssey yet. Don’t jump to conclusions.
Young Fox 2 or there’s such a thing as somebody liking a game more than someone else. I like 3D land because it has actual analog support. You can actually move around in that game. Playing 64ds with 8 directions can get extremely frustrating in the later levels with more tricky platforming.
I love how he chuckles after throwing his games behind him as if he’s saying “oh shit I might’ve damaged those”
The special worlds of this game was definitely my favorite part of it. I just found the game okay when I played the regular worlds, but the special worlds are more challenging, and it made the game more fun to me. It's not as amazing as the Super Mario Galaxy games of course, but it's still fun.
I didn't think that you'd cover this one. Great review!
3d World is next, eh? Hoo boy, that's gonna be a good one!
I liked 3D World back then
What is the problem with 3d World..
Alfons Hedström It was pretty boring. Wasn't true 3D. Too easy, even if you 100% it. Very little exploration. Had a timer. Etc. I'd rather just play Mario Bros 3. Just my opinion tho.
Ah yes, 3D world. Or as I call it, MURDER EXTRAVAGANZA.
Jesus christ your shirt is amazing
In an interview with Shigeru Miyamoto, it was said that they opted for the full Tanuki suit rather than just the ears so that it would be easier to see his transformation.
6:49 Take a Shot every time he says "And Of Course."
Sup
This came out when I was in the first grade, and was my first exposure to playing my own video games and my first game system....
You deserve WAY more subscribers
Of Course
Great review I feel like this is the most in depht review of this game! Also didn't expect that boom-boom in the toilet xD
"Let's see if game... good..." XD
When you see Nitro's heart break throwing those DS games at the beginning.
Saludos desde México, muy buenos vídeos.
Amazing video, it was really nice to hear someone else's opinion of this game. It was in depth and straight forward, Can't wait to see the 3D World review!
Gosh. I was playing a good set of 3DS titles before they were Nintendo selects.
Definitely a nostalgic game I love
I really wish Nitro reviews Pokémon Uranium in the future.
I know it's gonna be a REAL good day when I see a new Nitro Rad video in my sub box. Great vid, like always!
Were that Mario odyessy review
This game was awesome for an 8 hour road trip.
Nostalgia
I just want to say your camera quality is AMAZING great video btw.
What's your thoughts on first person in The Evil Within 2?
Looks cool but I haven't tried it yet
You know how you said there could should have been exits that require a specific power-up?
There are those dials that raise the platform only if you whack it with a Tanooki Tail.
And there are some Star Medals that require the Boomerang Flower to reach
13:17 cappy beta edition
Recently picked this game up again. Got it at a Walmart in its “Nintendo Select” state. It was just as great as I remember it 7 years ago.
PETA often makes games im poor taste.
Foster Wood Too true. They had a problem with Cooking Mama....the most innocent game in the world!
HyperTwister I have fat fingers....sorry.
*Very* poor taste.
Pokemon Black & Blue/Pokemon Red, White & Blue had me personally offended.
I have to say that for being released on a handheld system at the beginning of the decade, this game still plays and looks really good.
I really want to get a 3DS capture card someday, but it's not very likely however...
AwesomeG46 3d world was worse imo
+WindowsMaster As a black guy, this joke was golden.
+WindowsMaster PFFFT
+WindowsMaster The darkest one yet XD.
Great jokes man but can we finish them in this comment chain?
I honestly never liked how you can't be happy with super Mario 3d land, but yet you LOVE super Mario 3d World!
Exactly. After Galaxy, we haven't had anything worthwhile to play until Odyssey.
Odyssey is one of the WORST Mario games for filler content and recycled content tbh.
+Meta Shade Ruined Kingdom was the biggest waste of a level I've ever seen.
Really loved that Karate Joe shirt cant take my eyes off of it when ever it shows up.
My comments will never be pinned
Cmon reverse psychology please work
It didn’t get pinned
HyperTwister ikr that was so disappointing
I like how you stray away from what other game reviewing RUclipsrs by not pulling in some stupid story within the episode.
You what I hate???? This REALLY LONG comment
The reason I hate this game and 3d world is because you think it's just next level over and over again..which I'm fine with
*nope apparently!!!* I FREAKING HATE THE STAR MEDALS AND GREEN STARS! I remember just searching for hours and hours searching for enough to get to the next level, so if you simply beat a level in the hunt for star medals/green stars.....
You don't feel congratulated any way
Loving that Karate Joe T-shirt
As a matter of fact you should review the Rhythm Heaven series at some point
