This is genuinely my favorite 3D Mario game. And I've put so many hours into all of the others, but this one still sticks out. I remember being so young and having never played a video game by myself before. I always needed somebody else to play the game for me because I was too scared to try. Even Galaxy 2, which many consider the best 3D Mario game, was a lot for me and I was too scared to play them. It wasn't until my parents got me the 3DS with Super Mario 3D Land on it, and I instantly fell in love with it. It was my first ever game I played on my own. It was so fun and unique and just had so much creativity that I loved it. Beating the game for the first time was so intense but felt so rewarding. 3D World came out a couple years later and I remember beating that one for the first time. I had attempted to 100% it but I just couldn't. Then Odyssey comes out and holy crap, it was such a huge deal. I played that game and beat it several times. Eventually, I got so good at the game, I was pulling off stunts I could never do in any other game. I stopped playing it for a while, but came back to it a few years later and improved even more on the game. Today, Darker Side is a piece of cake for me. A couple years ago, when 3D All Stars came out, I got a chance to play the only other 3 3D Mario games I had never played. I beat them all, as well as Bowser's Fury later that year. By then, I had beat every single 3D Mario game, even 100% a few of them, except for 1. The 1 I was scared of for a long time. Galaxy 2. I don't know why I had been so scared to play it for so long. The game seemed so long and very difficult. I never believed that I could do it. But I set out to do it. And I kept playing it, I didn't care how tough it was or how weird the controls were. I was gonna beat it. I beat Bowser, got 120 stars, collected every green star, and played GrandMaster Galaxy like there was no tomorrow. Today, I have 100% Galaxy 2. As well as many other 3D Mario games. Even many 2D Mario games. And I couldn't have done it without the one game that just seemed so kind, so creative, a perfect mix between 2D and 3D, the one and only, Super Mario 3D Land. My favorite 3D Mario game of all time.

Absolutely one of my favorite Mario games next to Galaxy 2. I did a huge marathon of Mario platformers and RPGs from like August to November of 2020, and this was absolutely one of the high points. The levels are so tightly crafted and perfect for single player. By comparison, I found myself a little bored playing 3D World by myself.

Keep up the amazing content that you clearly put a lot of time and effort into. These videos are the same quality I’d expect from a channel with hundreds of thousands of subs. As long as you still have ideas and motivation to make content you will grow and one of your videos will blow up! Keep it up 😊

Damn this game's great (couldn't say something different). Should add one thing tho, soundtrack. Its awesome: Pom Pom fight, Bowsers final fight and Bonus-8 world are my personal favorite. Comparing this game with 2D Mario platformers, it definitely surpasses a lot of them.
And also you can make some fun with "photos" that you get throughout the game in 3DS photo editor (since I've added moustache and pipe to Bowser from first picture, I refuse to accept anything else than Stawser), I mean, is there something else you would wish for?

Tbh my favourite part of 3d land is S8-castle. It has that tension and level of skill so it puts the inexperienced to the test, while not being too difficult to the point where you rage. Though at the end. Theres no "Thanks for playingp!" when you beat it. Thats for the completionists who show their love and dedication to the game. The anticlimactic S8-bowser makes people want the satisfying "Thanks for playing!". I also like how you unlock S8-👑. Its simple, obvious and straightforward, yet still letting you soak in the quality of the game.

What I always liked was how the perspectives cater to the 3D effects of the game. The top-down perspective of the Zelda level really makes the images pop. Even just jumping can be kind of fun because you get to see the characters sort of pop out of the screen. A really neat effect.
There are a ton of stages that have perspectives that make setpieces, hazards and other objects come alive. Like the airship with the spike pillars. Really jarring and absolute brilliant.
I mean, Odyssey is brimming with life, but I don't think I've played another 3D Mario that quite recaptured this magic. Imagine this on even better hardware. A 3D Switch would be monstrously expensive, but it would be an absolute beast for the aesthetics of games, especially in-house Nintendo games.

This is the only other Mario game since the original Super Mario Bros. that gave me that sense of wonder and amazement while I played it. There have been better Mario titles, but this was the only other one were the series felt fresh and completely new like it was the first time all over again. This is my 3rd favorite Mario title behind both Galaxy games(in some ways, it's my favorite), and it really is it's own unique Mario experience, as it's a weird hybrid of 2D/3D games all rolled in to one. It's the "Links Awakening" of the Mario franchise, and 3D World, really doesn't come close to what this game was.
