Mario 3D World has some of the most creative levels ever seen in a Mario game, the best end game content ever seen in a Mario game, the best secret character ever put in a Mario game, and the most replayability, especially when considering multiplayer. It's still my favourite Mario game of all time.
this game deserves a sequel tbh. matter of fact, this can basically be considered the sequel to 3d land. they could complete this unofficial trilogy with the third one called 3d universe
The next one should be called “Super Mario 3D System”, or “Super Mario 3D Galaxy”. “Universe” has implications way bigger than what Nintendo would ever be able to deliver.
@@HenriqueVieira8128 you're actually right. 3d galaxy can't cut it because they've alreasy used the "galaxy" term, so 3d system would probably work best honestly.
The Genius of Super Mario 3D World is having Rosalina as an unlockable 5th character. That blew my mind when I first discovered it. Super underrated character btw... Her spin ability is super useful, but most people pay it no heed because you can't use it if you have a power-up. Its super fun to play as Rosalina and NOT use any power-ups. There are so many fun skips you can do, because YES, the spin works similar to how it does in the Galaxy games, giving you extra height when used in midair (it also keeps your momentum too, so you can long-jump and spin to cross huge gaps!)
It's kind of weird though, she's like this guardian observer who oversees the Lumas and grow enormous in space without any use of powerups but here she can just die by touching a Goomba.
I love this game with all of my heart, easily my favorite Mario game of all time, nothing even comes *close*. Probably one of my favorite video games in general too, definitely top 5
3D World is my favourite 3D Mario after Odyssey, and tbh no other game in the series beats it in the charisma and music department, it's such a consistently fun and cohesive game. I still think Nintendo should revisit the formula at some point and make it a main-stay alongside the 'mainline' sandbox 3D Mario games, why does it have to be one or the other?
this is exactly how i think as well honestly. the switch successor could last 8-10 years for all we know, we should absolutely get more than one 3d mario game for it
Amazing video. I am so interested in playing Super Mario 3D World so much after completing 3D Land on my 2DS. Sadly, I didn't play much 3D Mario, but I'm sure I will enjoy 3D World alot if I get the game along with the Mario Galaxy games. I only played 2 3D Mario games in general. 64 DS, and 3D Land. I didn't complete 64 DS because of the controls. I also hope to get Mario Odyessy soon. :)
It was honestly so magical when all of the wacky gambling boxes, random hisstocrat and mime fights, and bright lights came together for the “final” world. Like replaying 3d world and being like oh my god i was literally funding bowsers amusement park since the beginning is so funny and creative
The thing about the characters in this game is that peach is litterly the best. Everyone else just feels like you're being handicapped when you move from her. I mean, what do you lose? Speed isn't very important in the game. Floating is better than jump height as the game is made to be playable with all characters, and Rozalina can't even use her ability with a powerup
Rosalina is by far the best, although of course you can't use her till World 9. Screw powerups, her spin is all you ever need, except carrying a Cat Suit in your back pocket sometimes
I'm about to pick up a Wii u gamepad and I have the urge to play 3D world but I can't reset my Wii u and I was looking for 3D world content and then I found you posting like 33 minutes ago
Fun fact, the shadows in the shadow level, are actually shadows. Shocking, I know. But for real, a lot of games would use some kind of trick for it. Flattened solid black models on the wall or something. It's always neat to me when something that could have been done with a trick, is actually done for real. It's the same kind of neat feeling I get when I see an actual reflection in a game, as opposed to a transparent wall/floor with a duplicate game flipped upside down.
it’s so good i didn’t even see it as a 3d land sequel. although i love 3d land and it always has a special place in my heart, 3d world has so much of its own character and original content that i always saw it as its own thing, sure it was 3d too, but i saw the world to land as wii u to 3ds. the story in this game is way better, there’s just a lot more attention to detail in general it feels. but like i said, still 3d land i love too dearly
I think one of the best things about the characters selected is that each of them can be associated with one of the game's standard Power Ups: Mario with the Cat Suit (since it's the newest one), Luigi with the Super Leaf (his new costume when using it references the Kitsune yokai instead of the usual Tanooki one and it's powers complement his superior jumping skills), Peach with the Fire Flower (her colors change to her old NES colors + the Fire Flower was the original better-than-Super-form transformation Power Up in the series), Toad with the Boomerang Suit (Toad gets to throw a weapon like how in his first playable appearance in SMB2 USA he was one of the best at pulling and throwing items), and Rosalina with the Super Mushroom (only Small and Super form Rosalina can use the Galaxy Spin Attack). They also generally complement their playstyles as indicated by their other attributes: Mario: Versatile (Catsuit has a lot of versatile maneuvers and close-combat moves) Luigi: Superior jumping for experts (Tail allows for better aerial mobility on one of the most powerful jumpers) Peach: Best beginner choice (Floating glide + fire-and-forget projectiles to ensure maximum safety) Toad: Speedy powerhouse (Best speed + a versatile projectile for enemies and puzzles) Rosalina: Offensive glass cannon (unique attack that can work as a double jump, but can't be accessed by forms more powerful than the Super form so you usually only get to safely take one hit at max if you want to use it)
1:13 They were met with this: an ad for Forever 21's fall fashion line. Oh, RUclips. Anyway, for a brief time, Mario 3D World was my new favorite Mario game. The levels were creative, and there were a large variety of power-ups. The free-roam world maps were also neat, although I felt they didn't quite meet their full potential (Mario Bros. 3 handled world maps better, IMO). I only have the Wii U version. I'm not sure if Bowser's Fury is worth the double-dip asking price of $60.
I really liked 3dw and I liked how it shared the same birthday as me (23rd Nov, it’s the release date for some other regions) I always felt a bit disappointed when people disliked 3dw, I think the switch version especially did a great job with the movements, which tried to resemble something like odyssey (it’s still not the same), and also the exploration aspect Disclaimer: I don’t have any gaming console. My opinion is only based on the few minutes I played in demos and my friend’s switch
Nice!, super mario 3D world got Mario back to his roots. Instead of hour long collectathon worlds, we got shorter and more focused levels with multiplayer, which makes it easier to pick up and replay for me. Its like a classic 80s game made with today's technology. In fact that was nintendo's mindset during the late wii and wiiu era: rediscovering their old magic and bringing back old IPs and ideas. People said these games were generic, but i think it was a necessary step after all the experimentation during the GCN and Wii eras
I'm disappointed in the number of different power ups. Its really low. I also missed riding Yoshi in some levels. I also wished they added some secret exits like they did in New Super Mario Bros. But in general it's a really really great game!
The thing is i like mario 3d world. But not as much as the galaxy games. I think mario galaxy was the best mix between 2d mario and 3d mario beacuse the levels where more explorible while also being linear plus the gravity mecanic is really fun to mess around with👍 3d world is basic in comparison. I play 3d world more than galaxy beacuse it has more replayapility but it is still not as fun as galaxy in my opinion
Personally i like this game more than odyssey, 64, and sunshine, but its just in the middle of the group. I like 3d Land a bit more and the galaxy games are both top 5 games ever. Galaxy 1 being my all time favorite. I definitely prefer the linear games a lot more than the sandbox ones. I am currently playing through mario 64 though, i paused to type this out. But yeah ive just always preferred the more linear games. I feel like the platforming can be much more unique and varied. With the sandbox games a lot of time is spent retreading the same ground, the linear games you just do that and its over; all except for 3d land and world having you replay as each character. I think this is why world is below the other linear games for me, just the tedium in a solo 100% run. Same with sunshine too though with the blue coins, and odyssey with just having i think ~880 moons. Its just more fun (for me) to replay 3d Land, and the Galaxy games. None of these are bad games by any means, in fact i had a lot of fun with my initial playthroughs of each game, but going back and playing them again, i just think its more fun to do the linear games.
