    Great work as always Matt. Just remember that environment will also dictate power usage. Using in cold weather vs summer time, the compressor will run harder to cool. My Yeti will hold ice for nearly a week in winter. Two days in summer.

    I power the fridge fully stocked w food for 8hrs at home and use my tacoma's 110 power outlet in the truck bed until I get to my campsite. I can get 37hrs of run time on a jackery 300 pw station. You can also power the fridge off at night and the food will stay pretty close to the last temp for about 8 hrs or so (i keep my fridge in the bed of my truck away from the sunlight and in a insulated cover). I imagine that using the 100w solar panel to recharge during the day would allow me to run this 24-7 for as long as I want to.

    I have been testing another fridge/freezer that is very efficient. So efficient that when the compressor turns of the Jackery is only discharging 1watt to 2 watts. It is great but can be a double edge sword. I just found out today from Jackery that the Jackery 500 will turn itself off after 12 hours if the compressor does not turn on and continues to only discharge 2 watts or under per hour. While testing it I would find my unit turned off and the Jackery. I was getting read to send portable fridge back thinking there was something wrong. Just FYI.

      We have run this setup for multiple summers. It has worked well for us. We charge the power station from the truck while we are traveling and unplug it from the car when we are in camp so we don't drain the battery. Then the fridge is plugged into the power station all the time. We have used the Jackery 1000 and the Anker 1500 for our power stations - they both work well. Our daytime temps are typically in the 80-90F.

    Re discharging batteries, it's a lithium 12v battery inside that box, you shouldn't run it below 20% really but if they told you 15 go with that. Same applies to your smartphone. You can make your smartphone battery last 10 years or more if you keep the charge between 20-80% as much as possible. If not using the jackery for a long time, I suggest leaving it with a charge of 70-80% before storage.

    Question: I believe the Jackery charges at 3 or 3.5 amp. With the Jackery charging while the fridge is on, does the battery still discharge? (Obviously slowly). Or is the charging rate higher than what you're consuming, meaning it stays at 100% ? Thanks for the help!

So I'm curious, how long would this take to charge from 15% (or after those two days) running your car if it was plugged into the DC outlet?

    Consider plugging into the AC port. That DC port is an unregulated DC port. You will find longer battery life. The new models are DC regulated and MPPT Solar regulated.

    • @lindasue8719
      @lindasue8719 3 года назад +1

      On a Jackery, that port is, in fact, regulated. Also, the AC would draw more power.

    • @CC-gt3ro
      @CC-gt3ro 3 года назад +1

      Wrong. Port are regulated on jackery 500 and 1000. By using the inverter ac you would get a lot less battery life. The cfx is a 12 v device. To work in ac, the fridge must use its own converter to ac and then the jackery must convert ac to dc again for the battery. There will be a day of difference minimum between dc and ac. With a jackery 1000 a cfx 35/45 should get around 120 hours battery life in DC mode. At least more than 4 days to 5 days. The ideal is to have two powerstation, one small 1000wh that run the fridge and another (1500wh or 2000wh) for all other electric usage. When the first jackery 1000 is getting close to 10%, then use the second bigger powerstation to continue the fridge, charge the jackery 1000 with 2x100w solar panel in 7-15h whatever, then switch back. Then charge the bigger powerstation (with no device connected) with a larger bank of solar, 4x100w or 4x200w, to charge it faster in 5h or 2.5h. Then Continue like that for month or more of boon-docking.

    • @TheKobraElf

    Awesome and helpful video! Thanks for it. Question. How do get the Jackery from auto shutdown on cool evenings when the dometic doesn't draw power? I believe the 500 shuts down after 6 hours of no power draw above 10w. As long as you're in camp, and remember, you can reset it in the morning or every 6 hours on cool days, but can't really leave it for an extended period. I run into issues when I reset it early in the morning, but leave it alone all day. Fridge gets warm in the afternoon before I get back. Even more of a problem if leave a day or two. Thoughts?

    fill it up with stuff and repeat. it will be a whole different result.
