    Hunny the whole bit about the family and the drama….I agree. I moved out of state away from my family to complete my nursing program. It worked. I finished. For the first time in my life my family helped ME. I think I needed to experience and see that. I am always the person in my family to help them out but this time I needed the help and they helped. If I was home back in Illinois I might not have been able to finish. I needed to go be alone to focus on me for once. I got through it and now studying for nclex.

    My problem is I have bad anxiety and self talk , I don't believe in myself, people tend to have more faith in me than I do in myself. And I don't know how to change that. And because of that I tend to procrastinate . I also have a hard time socializing which is why I could not make friends. I tend to catastrophise things a lot. I don't know how I am going to make it through nursing school 🙃

      Start small, see what you need to do to under into school and start small. Do you need to take an entrance exam? Get a book to study and give yourself a deadline for when you will take the exam and start studying daily for it.
      All you can do is take it one step at a time and when those negative thoughts come up you have to stop them right away don’t give into it. Start journaling about it and put your feelings and fears out there and you may realize that it’s not as bad as you think. But when you just think and think without any action you will always feel defeated. Start small

      @@yourfavnurseb9699 thank you so much for replying to me. No I did not have an entrance exam. I almost done with micro which is my last prerequisite, I have finals coming this Friday and next Friday, which I am really nervous about I am doing well in the class which is a shock to me because every test and quiz I took I was sure I failed. I am hoping to start in January of next year. 🙏🏿 the deadline has passed for semptenber. I am currently a pct, I have the money I am just the only one in my way but I am pushing, and I have family and coworkers/ nurses encouraging me and telling me I can do it, which nice and I am great full for them.

      @@shyandlovely3439 I know exactly how you feel. Only thing is, I applied thinking I wouldn’t even get accepted and I was truly shocked to see an acceptance letter two months after.
      I suspect that I was actually a late enrollment due to someone else withdrawing/declining but I did the same thing. I never replied back. After years of multiple jokes about my intelligence, and multiple videos and warnings of how hard nursing school is, I just don’t think I’m cut out for it.
      I’m trying to branch out from CNA to CMT and that’s how I found nurse B’s channel. But I really do relate to how you feel about yourself.

    I think good money and job security can be good reasons. I just think you need to also care about people. For me job security does matter but I also know I love working with people and have overcome so many challenges in life which I think is an important quality for a nurse to have because like you said, nurses can face challenges!

    Our stories are similar. I got my CDL and was like awe nah let me get back into healthcare. So, I honestly just applied to the program not expecting to actually get in. It was just a spur of the moment type thing. And I’ve honestly been doing great throughout the program. Probably bc I cut everyone off and I don’t have kids.

    These are all amazing tips & I'm happy to see that I'm following them in some way. My plan atm is to go to community college, take a CNA course & use those extra few dollars in my salary + the grant $ from college, to save up for moving. Once I move, I want to become an LPN. Eventually I want to level up & bridge to RN. My family & the dependency I have on them is my biggest hurdle, so I'm trying to get as much independence as possible, as quickly as possible. I'm gonna buy my own car with my college grant money, just to make sure I can drive myself to all of my classes, I'm gonna be buying my own food, etc. Nobody & nothing is getting in my way to becoming a nurse!!

    • @yourfavnurseb9699
      @yourfavnurseb9699  5 месяцев назад +2

      Sounds like a plan! It’s always good to focus on how you can have more financial independence. It’s smart to use that money for a car instead of just blowing it on something that you can’t use. Good luck with everything, community college is the way to go.

    I think I needed this pep talk because I'm currently a home health aid (with a CNA license) and I'm getting a bit above minimal wage in my state ($15hr) and sometimes, the clients and their families may cancel because they got something to do or they're sick. When that happens, I'm not getting paid. So, I like home health, I enjoy my clients, I'm very dedicated to them, but the pay isn't paying enough. So right now, I'm working almost full time, gonna go back to school to work on my prerequisites, apply for financial aid, and work on paying off some bills and still stash away some money for a rainy day because if I get my bachelor's degree, I think it will open more doors for me.
    But at the same time, It's like I want to take a continuing education class (such as pct) because they make more money in hospitals and dialysis, and I almost positive they'll work with my schedule. I would still have a steady income coming in vs being in home health.
